They will need to severly nerf the arrow cart for this to be a good addition.
Quite alot of T1 server hump ACs all day already dont see how a blob humping ACs and forever repairing it is a good thing. If anything that makes it horrible for roamers, smaller servers and any fights heck some blob guilds never engage without a few flash built ACs behind them.
Seeing as they were primarily introduced as an alternative way to earn HPs for your characters to get their elite specs, the idea is that you should be progressing on that character in order to get that specialisation.
Idea is you should be earning them on the toon that is benefiting, which I partly agree with. If you don’t play in WvW on a toon you should be earning HPs on it elsewhere.
Whilst that is true but then you compare it to tomes of knowledge where they are account bound and anyone can simply spam them get from 0 to 80 in a few seconds worth of clicking. For WvW as it stands atm not having elite specs puts you at a great disadvantage, needing to grind hours in PvE or even longer in WvW just to gain access to those skills is plain stupid.
If one character has earned a lot of proof of heroics they should be able to use those earned points across the all their characters. Binding them to one character because with the excuse that you “should play it to earn it” is stupid. What difference does it make if players earned their Proof of heroics on one character other than to annoy those who decided to roll a new character and now have to grind hours.
As it stand right now WvWer either have to grind ages on WvW or be forced to spend hours running around on a map for HPs. Running around getting HPs doesnt make you better at playing the character, waiting ages for others to help you get the HPs are even more stupid. So I dont know why some people think it’s okay to justify bad game design.
Imagine if they forced you to grind out your HPs and levels in PvP…How much of a “even playing field” do you think that creates?
Tbh if you can’t afford to shell out 300g for a tag you shouldnt be commanding. If you’re a decent commander you’ll be shelling out alot more than 300g in the long run and 100g is too cheap where you’ll end up like the spam of mentors. Users who think because they have a mentor tag that they can lead people.
Ill like to see another option that just gold tho, 100g + a bunch of proof of heroics sounds good and pretty much guarantees that the commander will be at least decent.
This doesnt make sense at all I assume this was an option added in to address the problem of “forcing” WvWers to play PvE purely so they can play their character correctly and another way to acquire siege. Why would you make them soulbound it makes leveling up multiple characters a massive pain…
The latest “fix” essentially rewarded bad players, pushing you to not dodge, your team to sustain damage and those who tried to optimise healing power worse than a glass canon build AF faster.
Since the release of druid all we have had are nerfs/buffs which are either overshot or completely breaks the profession. Community feedback on the profession is clearly not being looked at seriously seeing as practically none of the feedback has actually been listened to with anet taking a throw on the wall see what sticks approach.
Who ever is working on ranger/druid you really need to play the profession or have a small group of dedicated rangers who you need to run every patch/fix before you implement it. Most if not all decent rangers could look at the patches and immediately give you a response weather it is justified and inform you if it is stupid or breaks the profession.
We have an amazing community with many players who are willing to help. So stop ignoring us and randomly throw kitten on the wall to see what sticks.
EDIT: Yes, this should go for all classes but it especially applies to ranger being the profession which is continually at the bottom of the barrel and the most broken class. Other classes don’t have every patch either breaking the class, over nerfing to the ground or stupid unwanted changes which are thrown in for the fun of it.

Tbh, once you move to any profession it is very hard to go back to ranger reason being is that anything ranger is even remotely decent at gets over nerfed soon after and ranger traits/skills dont really complement each other at all.
When you move to another profession and see how much “better” it is, going back to ranger just feels horrible even just looking at normal AA attacks with the exception of the LB everything is horrible for ranger and you dont see it until you experience other classes.
(edited by Kaze.6029)
Not saying that other classes don’t have easier builds…but for Ranger (compared to what I remember from the past), this build is pure faceroll in terms of game impact for your team
Which I somewhat doubt you did, people seem to hit the trigger way faster when it comes to rangers. And it’s always without feedback on how to balance it without butchering anything.
Well that’s because rangers have been the joke of gw2 for the longest time, whilst we are “okay” for now be for we were absolutely horrible at everything possible mainly because pets were so horrible (back then if your pet died you actually had to rez them like a player and that took ages to “fix”) so for that year and a bit other professions had the enjoyment of taking a dump on ranger class. This inherently made them feel “good” because no matter how horrible they were they would never be as horrible as a ranger. So when rangers are somewhat viable and are “okay” many players with that same mentality that “rangers are kitten” can’t stand it.
This is also the reason why any “buffs” ranger gets tends to have a huge up roar eg the WHAO buff which was pretty useless as a build since you give up 2 trait lines, heal and 3 utility skills to be a quick AA build was nerfed to the ground. Or when rangers could stack might for him and the pet was met with complains mean while D/D eles/warriors who can do the same for the whole party and have been meta/op for the longest time have next to no complains.
The only time ranger was every actually usefull/meta was in pvp as a spirit ranger since you basically had 3 meat shields, constantly pumping out 3 awesome boons and awesome CC. It wasnt OP by any means but was just extremely hard to deal with but rather than fix it to a decent level it was over nerfed to the ground
For the general population smoke assault on F2 is the better decision. For top tier PvP either is situational. It is a real shame we can’t control every pet skill.
Since when?
Fairly certain no one wants a smoke screen which will randomly hit whenever the pet feels like it. It is a nuisance for both you and your party if anything it’s a liability.
What it is, is that these cry baby warriors have played face roll easy mode for so long, that now that they actually have to think, it feels like warrior is in a bad spot.
Why don’t you show us how it’s done? Go ahead and post a video of yourself playing Warrior. Until then, go back to whining about your Thief class.
You do realise warriors were basically one of the best classes for the longest time and thiefs/rangers have the right to complain. They have been nerfed to hell with basically everything which would be considered useful taken away, thiefs have the lowest DPS and hp of all classes and other than annoying people in pvp/wvw and roaming around they didnt have much. Ranger were even more useless in basically every game mode and after having some use as a druid they nerfed to utter useless and can’t build AF…
So before you start kittening about how warriors have it so bad…etc you’re forgetting that practically all other classes have been dealing with this treatment for years.
Im not saying warriors dont need a buff/change but dont compare your “nerfs” to basically any class since you had arguably the “best” treatment for years.
anyone else refreshing this sub daily checking for a dev response? all we want really is to know that if theyre working on it or not. at least gives us an answer if the specialization will change or if it will stay like this.
If thiefs and rangers are any indication it will probably stay like this for years. Tbh there are alot of professions which need a major change over, warriors need some buffsto be useful, druids need more least some dps and not take 5 mins to build AF to be get into celestial, thiefs need more “useful” skills with the meta of the game their role has been reduced to “annoy” people, revanant/reaper probably need some nerfs to balance them out with other classes….etc
How did you manage to have druid working okay in beta which it needed some tinkering to work well to gutting it to utterly useless?
There is absolutely no reason to play druid which is a useless class which has no standing in any game mode unless you want to have a class where you have to slowly drag around.
What is the point of asking for feed back when you dont actually listen to what players give?
If you actually wanted to burst you would use a bird and spam f2 non stop or any other pet really.
A uncontrollable smoke screen which will smoke you and your party when it feels like it makes it effective baggage.
With the f2 change there is absolutely no reason to use it over any other pets.
People are upset by the smoke scale nerf lol
Wow
No the damage nerf is okay because it was needed. Changing the f2 ability is not. right now you have a pet which will randomly smoke yourself and your party making when it a complete baggage.
On top of that Druid works quite well in pvp.
Have we arrived yet? Are we god tier now? All I know is Irenio is taking us in the right direction.
*was
In beta testing druids were okay and just needed some tinkering to work well and nerfing in some areas. Right now druids are essentially utterly useless and a complete drag with absolutely no reason to use them at all… Good luck trying to use Celestial avatar.
You know what? This is YOUR fault. I made a post about this on the general forums that was quickly deleted and I got a ban but I’ll repeat it again.
preordering never ever ever benefits the consumer. If you were smart you would have waited for release and actual reviews. Game companies screwing over their players is hardly a new thing in the industry. You preorderers are kittening us all over with your desperation to throw money at game companies. If we all refused to do it maybe we’d get some quality.
So whatever, I’ve heard this sob story too many times. You bought into the hype, gambled, and lost. Cry me a river.
That is very true, preorder/beta testing is actually what is destroying many game companies. When they release betas people pay for an incomplete product companies get the money they were after and as a result stop “trying”, and those who get access to betas play the game and then get bored and by the time the full game is out everyone is bored of it already.
For me I’m quite shocked to see the druid a decent workable class which only needed some polishing really end up being so utterly useless after what they did. How is it possible for the devs to ignore all community feedback and take what was practically a finished product and go completely backwards?
Im very happy I didnt buy HoT and Im very happy that a lot of rangers in my guild didnt shell out money for absolutely no reason.
If your pet is dead…
SWAP PETS.
Ranger is about pet-management, like it or not. That isn’t going away, ever. However, rangers being able to ignore any cc infinitely on a 10 second ICD regardless of the fact that the pet can be dead, and therefore there is no downside to taking the trait.
Anybody defending this bug or insulting me with false xenophobic statements is frankly delusional, because this isn’t working as intended.
Not sure if you actually know what you are talking about but it’s on a 60s cool down. Which is practically the longest cool down for a CC removal of any class not to mention it essentially makes your pet useless. If they buffed it to 10s CD then I would support your but nerfing what is probably the crappiest cc removal is hilarious.
Calling others delusional when you havent exactly got your facts straight isnt exactly nice either. Also the pet isnt “dead” it’s in a “defeated state” just like many NPCs which then essentially walk around in an “out of combat” mode.
A dead pet is what they had years ago where we actually had to rez the pet every time it died.

If you want to focus on being the top offense then you probably shouldn’t be selecting the Druid specialization.
then why anybody is going to take a druid? If there are other clasess that will kill better… there is no point for taking a druid.
That he is the best healer? Oh nice. Just evade and res, like a top player would do. Dont need “the best healer” in a party.
And specially in pvp.You should to give more damage to the druid and make them desirable for meta parties.
This is very much an issue which needs to be addessed, the reason to bring a druid in the first place is because of a mechanic in raids which force players to take damage (the red/orange circle thing) so a druid which heals is ideal. That however is the only reason to bring a druid as it stands atm the dps on druid is pitiful so they will need to swap weapons to provide some moderate level of dps but that means you wont be healing. And constantly swapping weapons isnt ideal at all that Im fairly certain in raids they will only look for a druid which runs full support.
As far as pvp goes druid will be practically useless, druids have no standing against the other classes and they are only effective when running with mini zerg and with that argument then why not just play another class which will be useful both in mini zergs and on their own.
I believe most of these issues will be solved if they increase the dps on druids, no to a high level but to a level where they can provide a moderate sustainable dps while supporting the team rather than picking. With the current mechanics of the game druid is never going to get good drops either because of their pitiful dps.

I don’t really understand how the ANet devs are so prone to undertuning or overtuning things. There’s a very obvious middle ground, and somehow that middle ground is always flown over by a few kilometers.
Fairly certain it’s because none of the devs actually play the game and dont exactly listen to the community unless there is some sort of public outcry. D/D eles were OP in pvp for the longest time but not many complained because they enjoyed demolishing everyone through button mashing. But when ranger gets a half decent buff (the class which is essentially seen as the crappiest profession by the community and basically a laughing stock) everyone gets annoyed because they can’t laugh at the profession anymore. Things have gotten better compared to the past where if you were a ranger you would be instantly kicked from a dungeon but it still isnt very good.
If the devs actually played the game they would realise that sacrificing heal, 2 trait lines, 2 utilities and a elite skill to maintain those boons made you a useless autoattack build which wasnt OP as the community made it out to be. Other classes can easily do the same without sacrificing so much too and it’s party wide but because of the community response the devs thought it was OP :l
Look at all the red posts. Let this night go down in history as The Ranger Riots of 1328 AE.
And rightly so.
Nothing will turn eyes away faster than a riot. Don’t even go there! (Even if you were kidding, which I hope you were. )
Let’s provide actual, gameplay-based feedback and look for changes in the future. But let’s not post to be rude, comment to add nothing, or repeat endlessly the same reactions. Give details, give solid input, that’s what we should do. And yes, “we” includes… me!
The main point is that rangers have been unquestionable the “dirt” of gw2, there is absolutely no reason to run a ranger, the horrible pet AI which hold 1/3 of our dps which just dies, the clear lack of responses from devs and the clear hate from the devs. Rangers have been crying out for support for 3 years already and you can’t expect people to “trust” the devs fix anything with nothing to show after 3 years…
I understand why there was a need for a nerf however when you compare it to other classes which essentially do the exact same thing party wide without sacrificing everything to do it we start to question. For example why is it okay for warriors and ele to have party wide 25 might stack by themselves but ranger and pet is a no?
If you’re going to nerf things should do them to every profession not just one.
Im fairly certain the devs dont actually play the game. If they did they would realise that sacrificing your heal, 2 trait lines, 2 utilities and elite skill for some boons is not worth it at all.
Mean while warriors/eles can give 25 stacks of might for themselves and the party without sacrificing much. Warriors have near perma swiftness…etc But clearly rangers need a nerf.
Ah wells back to Troll urgently for me then
