You know the gauntlet isn’t gone yet, right? It’ll still be there until september 3rd, you just need to complete the portal to kick Scarlet out and you’ll have access to it again.
Really? Well, it doesn’t matter – as I said, I ‘m not going anywhere near it in future. I’ve given up trying to beat Liadri. It’s bad for my health.
So let me get this straight – you refuse to try and get the mini Liadri and as a result you refuse to collect any other minis?
I refuse to try again if they bring back Gauntlet. I am not going to put myself through that kind of frustration again.
And there is no point in me collecting minis any more, when that collection will always be incomplete… so you could call it a “refusal” to collect more minis, but really, it’s more like a sudden lack of interest.
I understand the frustration, I’ve tried to beat her well over 100 times and haven’t managed it, but I don’t understand giving up and then acting like it’s Anet’s fault.
I’m not “acting”, I’m not saying it’s A-net’s “fault”, I’m not pointing fingers. I’m just saying that I’m not interested in minis any more, and the reason is my failure to beat Liadri.
This topic is NOT about the temporarily missing watchknight minis.
I was unable to beat Liadri in the Queen’s Gauntlet, and get the Liadri mini… so there is now a permanent hole in my minipet collection ;_;
Yes, I mean permanent. Because even if they bring back Gauntlet in the future, I will not be going anywhere near it.
So where I would have rejoiced at the prospect of 46 new minipets to collect, before the Queen’s Jubilee… now I find myself with no further interest in minis.
Mini 3-Pack Set 2 is now available in the Gem Store in the Minis category for 300 gems. Open this pack to get three random minis from an entirely new set of miniatures! Each pack contains two common and one uncommon mini from set 2. Collect all 46 new minis! The Mini 3-Pack Set 1 is also still available for anyone looking to complete their set 1 collection
Minipet collectors rejoice!

…oh, except that I stopped collecting minis since the Queen’s Jubilee. Because that event made a permanently empty hole in my collection ;_;

Regarding skills like Engineer’s Jump Shot, Ele’s Ride the Lightning, or Warrior’s Savage Leap etc… you don’t need any specific profession.
Any profession can use these consumable items:
Experimental Rifle
Experimental Teleportation Gun
I verified that the authenticator works by going into the “Security” page in Account Management and clicking on the Remove button next to my current network. Then logged out of the game. When logging back in, I got the prompt for the security code. Nice!
Oh! They finally added the facility to remove “Remembered” Networks! THAT’S AWESOME!
Now people like me have the option to remove all remembered networks for TRUE 2-factor authentication (ie. authenticate at every login). And those who don’t take their account security quite so seriously, still have the option to have remembered networks. Excellent.
I like how you completely ignored the bulk of his rant and jumped right to this minor point.
Naturally. Because it was the starting point for his post, and it is absurd – implying that it would make the skills system the same or similar to GW1.
We knew for YEARS before launch, that the whole skill and profession system would be massively different.
OP is several years too late coming out of the cave they’ve been hiding in, to be surprised by this.
(edited by KeikoTerada.1963)
So game is built on GW1 engine.
Who told you that? Why would anybody even think that?!
I’m back in just now
That face… will haunt me forever.
I only have to think about that face, and I laugh til I cry.
I got a terrifying Wintersday video.
Tip: Double-click to put stuff into the forge slots instead of drag and drop… FTW! You can be disappointed much faster that way! :-D
It’s clearly a super-rare drop from a gift (if it’s a drop at all)… and you already had the endless tonic drop… so you will have to be like amazingly, stinkingly, disgustingly lucky to get Festivoo as well! :-D
Having said that, I got the unbreakable bell, but I’m still trying for the endless tonic, which will require the same kind of luck :-D
Bear in mind that if it IS a possible drop from a Giant Wintersday Gift… it will also be a possible drop…with the same drop rate… from all the other Wintersday gifts as well (small, medium, large)
So buy the cheaper Small Gifts with your ugly jumpers etc.
Only if Festivoo is a possible drop, of course.

Upon completion, if you turn around as you enter and jump behind the box you came out of there will be a series of steps you can jump up which will take you to a big red star. There doesn’t seem to be any purpose to this mini puzzle.
Something to do with this^ perhaps?
That’s the chest area and it is indeed behind the starting platforms. You can stay in there as long as you like.
Aha, yes! Looking at the second screenshot, I recognise the fence and I can see some of those SO CUTE gingerbread guys… I am guessing you must reach the end area first, and figure it out from there.
See here: clicky
Correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s at the end area right? I can’t imagine doing that while the JP is ticking
Looking at the minimap, it actually appears to be the opposite side of the map from the end area – I believe they are looking down on the starting platforms, from above and behind.
it’s a bug, next time jump into the present.
I always jump into it…what other way is there to get inside anyway?
Run over the edge and fall into it = Booted back to LA
JUMP over the edge into it = SUCCESS!
it’s a bug, next time jump into the present.
OMG you’re right.
Jump into the present, instead of running over the edge and letting yourself fall in…
I usually go with the Jumping Puzzle, can get around 6 giant presents every 5-10 minutes assuming you don’t fall. Also depends on how fast you do it so you make the next rotation before the people waiting are put on the puzzle.
This^
Once you get good at it, you can collect your 3 presents from the end chest, and frequently get back to the start area, just before the next run begins.
If you were NOT the last one left, I think you have a few vital extra seconds to make it back… because it seems to wait until everyone has either fallen or made it to the end.
When the toy soldier fires his gun, it makes a little blast of confetti which is cool.
Less “botting”, more hacking. You know, there are teleport hacks for GW2, a lot of them. Won’t say more, the mods on this forum don’t like that topic.
Mm. I have seen a character in the end area behaving very strangely – appears at the entrance (box), runs to the fence, disappears, then re-appears at the entrance moments later… several times in succession. Perhaps camping the end area, running to prevent disconnect, and somehow get a chest reward every now and then? I dunno.
Definitely bugged. Or they made it so you get literally nothing for completing it multiple times.
I completed it 2x just now, both times I was sent back to Lion’s Arch. No end area, no chest.
I got the Unbreakable Bell last night, after opening about 200 Giant presents.
Was I incredibly lucky?
Or was the OP incredibly unlucky?
Or did they change the drop rate?!
Notes:
All my presents came from repeating the jumping puzzle, I didn’t buy any.
I got about 150 Giant Presents from the JP yesterday, I opened them all at once, the unbreakable bell popped at about the 130th.
I got about 72 Giant Presents the previous day, I opened them all at once the same day, so I started with 0 presents yesterday.
Why timed? Because I suspect it sets an upper limit on the amount of time that each puzzle runs… therefore keeping the wait times down… therefore keeping crowding down during the puzzle itself. Also, probably keeps server usage low by limiting the number of puzzles that run concurrently… and thereby keeping a lid on lag.
Which would all be good reasons to my mind, and even if it wasn’t by design it seems to be working:
- Wait times are not terribad… in fact once you get the hang of the puzzle, you can complete it and get back to the waiting area with only a few seconds to wait before going again.
- I have had no problems with crowding – only 4 or 5 others each time I go. So usually no more than one or two giant Norn/Charr blocking the view, and you can either outrun them or let them run ahead, so not much of a problem.
- I have had no problems with lag, which is impressive given past performance in other events.
By the way, the only time I get the snowflakes already melting when I load, is if I complete the puzzle and return to the waiting area just as the next run is starting. I don’t have a high-spec PC and my ping is nothing special.
Ps: i never use mouse sensitivity, nor mouse. I made every jp in game only with asdw and space
You did it without using the mouse?!
That’s so hardcore. You should get an extra achievement for that!
I think I’m probably “average” at jumping puzzles – I’m not totally awesome at them, but I don’t totally suck at them either. And from my point of view, this is just about perfect – not too easy, and not too difficult. Some nice variation along the path.
It took me quite a few tries before my first completion, but I never felt frustrated. The more I tried, the better/faster/further I got. When I failed, I always felt like “doh, I made a mistake” or “I was too slow” etc, rather than cursing the puzzle design.
My only annoyance (as usual) is the occasional super-sized norn/charr, completely obscuring the platforms :-P I wonder how they manage to see the platforms themselves. Just have to try and stay ahead of them…
It still takes me 4 or 5 attempts to complete it even now, but that’s not a lot of time. So I can do it once a day for the chest and still have some fun with it – without feeling like I’m grinding it.
Haha! That’s priceless. I thought it was going to be a nod to Angry Birds, I never played Zelda.
Yeah, they could have put it in the gemstore, so that collectors could buy it.
Ah… But if it only comes with a new account… NOT in the gemstore for a paltry 200 gems or so (that anyone can afford using ingame gold)… and if the collectors are serious... then surely they’ll spend real money on a new account to get it! $_$
Now, I wonder who could have thought up such an excellent exploitation scheme? Hooray for tin foil!

Attended / No loot / No mail
In my overflow (on Whiteside Ridge), the Boss got stuck in the wall, where it was unkillable – every time its health dropped to 75% it would just bounce back to 100%. It wouldn’t move out of the wall on account of people continuing to attack it for literally hours – despite others shouting at them in every chat and even whispers, in multiple languages, to stop attacking and back off – to try and get it out of the wall.
And of course there was a steady stream of new arrivals (most of them fresh from other overflows I expect, and probably already looted the event more than once)… to ensure that it remained under attack (and stuck) the whole time.
Eventually the new build arrived… everybody got kicked out of the game… and nobody in that overflow got anything – regardless of how long they’d been there or how much they’d participated.
Am I going to submit a ticket? I don’t think so – I wasn’t much bothered in the first place, I just chalked it up to “that’s life”… and I’m way past caring at this point. I wasn’t planning on grinding out a legendary, so the chance of a legendary precursor is no great loss.
Also, even if I got the mail it seems I’d still be two or three rewards behind most other people – so, I don’t think the “solution” really addresses any perceived imbalance or unfairness. I’m not particularly bothered, but I’m sure it must be quite infuriating for others in the same situation.
Does it play “See my baby jive” when you /dance?
Does it play “I wish it could be Christmas every day” during December?
I’d buy a new account right now if it did ;-D
If I had to generalise using just the two options “ugly” or “not ugly”… I’d have to say “ugly”.
Looking through the galleries of available light and medium armor, I struggle to find anything at all that I like. Because I just do NOT like the “Giant Coat” or “Victorian Bustle” looks. Nearly all of it just looks unwieldy.
I want my characters to look like they could feasibly run or jump, while wearing their armour. Armour that doesn’t look like it would severely restrict my character’s movements, trip them up, or get stuck on every gate/bush/whatever I travel past. In which case I am left with few choices, and of those… I’m generally not impressed. There’s only the “named” medium armour (aidan’s/shiro’s etc), and for light armour… stumped.
For heavy armor, the choices are little better… but even there, there’s still not much that I like the look of. I basically stick to the Heritage armor, Fire Vambraces and either Heavy Ice Diadem or don’t show helmet at all – all from the HoM, :-P
I just hope we see some fresh ideas when new armors are inevitably added to the game in the future.

Probably not because those people shouldn’t have been doing the event at that time. It was a bug it was still running in overflows that late.
My overflow was still doing the event at that time – because it bugged up with the boss stuck in a wall, and unkillable while it was there.
Players wailed on it for literally hours, preventing it moving out of the wall…
…despite the obvious futile nature of keeping it there (every time its health reached 75%, it would bounce back to full)
…and despite most of the players standing in a huge crowd just beyond the range of the boss, and shouting in every chat, in multiple languages, and even sending whispers to the OCD players, to stop attacking and let it out of the wall.
And of course even if those players were persuaded to stop attacking… new players would arrive (having already looted the chest 2 or 3 times in other instances, but still greedy for more)… start wailing on the boss anew, and ignoring chat/whispers.
Eventually, new build arrived, and everybody on that overflow went home with nothing – whether they were there from the start, or hopped in near the end.

Is it a cultural thing? Is everyone who hates Trahearne and/or likes Tybalt from the same country?
I have no problem with Trahearne’s voice actor – he sounds pretty much what I imagine a scholar plant guy to sound like. Script could be better, but that’s a separate issue – and I consider GW2 to be about average in that respect, for a computer game.
Tybalt’s voice acting on the other hand, frequently made me cringe at how unconvincing it sounded.
If other players are abusive, report them. Don’t feel bad about it, if they get a temp ban for it, you’re helping them to grow up, learn the value of politeness, etc.
On a more constructive note, I think ArenaNet should really add some options for those icons eg.
-default show all (as now)
-disable all
-re-enable all
-enable specific commanders (choose from list of all in the map)
I think that might work for people who hate to see them for whatever reason, and also add some useful extra functionality for those who want to see them, when they want want to see them. Doubt that would be a high priority at this time though.
Also, this:
I wish the title would require some in game achievements to get instead of just gold. You don’t buy skill and knowledge with gold.
Hahah. Nice one. Quaggans FTW.
Also this (from your screenshot):
“Veteran Commander Plipdoolb: Poo. Krait from the east!”
They just need to say there is no endgame other than farming and grinding and be honest about it.
No, what you (and Ned Stark) need to do, is accept that ArenaNet built a game around their idea of an end game, not yours.
GW2’s end game is exactly as advertised.
It’s just not what you think an end game should be.
By saying the end game doesn’t exist, you’re saying the entire game does not exist – ridiculous.
You bought the wrong game if you thought it would be otherwise, despite all the marketing. If what you wanted/expected was the same end game as <insert whatever game here>, then you should be playing <insert whatever game here>.
While I see what you’re saying this “the whole game is endgame” cliche is over used and inaccurate marketing mumbo jumbo and saying it is just as asinine.
It is often quoted… but it is not a cliche.
They said you were in the end game from level one. And they were right.
What’s “assinine”, is people who expected an “end game” to suddenly materialise once they reached level 80. An “end game” that was different to the game they’d been playing before reaching level 80.
If people have really done everything the game has to offer (or rather, everything they find enjoyable in it), don’t want to do PvP, and don’t have friends/guildmates to help or hang out with ingame… then it’s time to put it down, and come back when there’s new content or an expansion. Seriously.

Cross-region guilds can fight 24/7 in WvW
When you receive the email, it contans a link to a web page that completes the authentication.
On that web page is a tick box to “Remember this Network”
If you tick that box, then you won’t have to authenticate from that location again.
The only “barrier” is your own inability to see a clearly labelled box, and put a tick in it.
My god people.. they added one tier of gear as a one-time gameplay improvement, why the kitten is everyone acting like this is the apocolypse?
Because for many people, if ArenaNet continues down this path, it WILL BE the apocalypse.
They can either:
a) shrug and say “it’s only small”… and simply pray that it doesn’t go any further, or
b) make their feelings known on forums, in the hopes that it will make ArenaNet stop and think twice about going any further down that path.
Many people are choosing b) and I don’t see anything wrong with that. It doesn’t automatically make them “whiners”, and it is grossly unfair to dismiss all such compaints by labelling them as such. Many (if not most) are complaining because they actually care about this game, and rather than silently quit – they’re trying to stop any further moves in a direction that they see as damaging to the game.
The only problem is the hysterical, inflammatory, insulting, etc ways that many people on each side express their opinions.
It serves no purpose to dismiss the complaints as simply whining, and likewise to dismiss positive responses as fanboyist/apologist. People need to make their cases for either side, without any of that… and in a calm and non-inflamatory way. And then maybe, just maybe, there won’t be so many deleted/locked threads :-/

On my guild forums, negative posters just get ignored or asked to stop being so attention seeking. We can all spot them. They enjoy dragging things down and foreseeing doom.
Your guild does not represent good supporting evidence for your suggestion. By your own admission – anyone in your guild who criticises, is simply ignored, shouted down, or treated like a whiney brat.
That gives you a picture that’s just as distorted as these forums, if indeed these forums are distorted in the way you suggest.
It’s actually just 2 people.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/ranger/General-Patch-Discussion-merged/page/3
There are >500 skills in this game, 480 traits, and 2 designers working on this. Even then often we are bottle necked by other issues. I’m not going to say we are not working on these things, nor can I say there are things we could have changed but just ran out of time on, but this was a patch that contained ranger improvements and it will not be the last one that does so. Maybe you want more than honesty but that is what I currently have to offer.
Well, I take it back then. Although it is indeed a team of more than one person… I concede that just two seems ridiculous. So implausible, that I simply wouldn’t have believed it if Jon Peters hadn’t said it.
There is a ton of stuff they need to address… they clearly know that… and yet they only have two people working on it all…? Is that not crazy?!
(edited by KeikoTerada.1963)
I just saw that they plan to force you to change your password on a regular basis. I’d wish they’d just do that for people not using an authenticator. My password is safe enough and I’m only using it for GW2.
Where did you see that? I am aware that they will force people one-time to change their passwords if they didn’t already. But on a regular basis? That’s sounds like a support disaster in the making!
Does the OP and the other people complaining think that there is like, one person at ArenaNet working on fixing everything?
And that one person twiddled with Warriors first and ignored everything else?
SERIOUSLY?
Jeez, THINK about it! There will be a team of people. The team member assigned to fix the Warrior stuff probably had the easiest job, finished up before the others, and therefore simply got their stuff out soonest.
I really can’t believe it means that Warriors were higher priority, or that Warriors are the main focus, or that other stuff isn’t being worked on at the same time. It’s simply not plausible.
Even if it does only represent a small increase in stats… it’s the first small step, down a road that many people do not want ArenaNet to tread.
I have seen a lot of the knee jerk reactions posts of how much people can’t stand change so this thread is for people who are truly happy with the upcoming content and changes!
To sum up people’s concerns as “knee-jerk reactions”, because they “can’t stand change” is not only monumentally wrong, it’s extremely insulting.
I haven’t even tried WvW.
I’m not exactly great at PvP of any kind. It takes time for me to get used to it, and until I do, I will often hesitate/panic when attacked, resulting in me getting ROFLstomped over and over. I generally get bored of that, and give up – long before I become even slightly competent.
I’m a casual player, I login in frequently but I don’t spend a huge number of hours every week… and I wander the world exploring, talking to NPC’s etc, making no attempt to gain levels (or anything else) as fast as possible. Consequently my highest level character is still only 52. Which I assume would mean extra ROFLstomping if I attempted WvW.
(h) PvP players are the worst. They’re exactly the people I’d least choose to hang out with of my own accord.
That, and the sheer hostility of the player base that does WvW has completely turned me off from wanting to do it.
In GW1, I avoided PvP because it seemed to be a cesspool, created to keep the unpleasant people away from the rest of us. The amount of hostility from your own team-mates was shocking. The above posts lead me to think it’s the same in GW2, and do nothing to encourage me to even try it.
if it was a feature, i would assume it would ask for authentication after a bad password attempt.
Not necessarily; of course a correct login will always be required but if your IP is “white-listed” you may no longer need to enter a code. (until it changes and if that’s how its designed)
Wish I could test this by moving my PC or installing GW2 on another PC, but thats not possible atm.
Perhaps someone here can try it and let us know.
I have done that.
I do not get prompted for the Mobile Authentication code if I log into these forums from my “home” network – because it’s a “remembered” network from using email authentication.
But I do indeed get prompted if I login from a different network.
Putting in the worng password doesn’t change any of the above.
Furthermore, I get the prompt from the other network every time - because although it uses the same remembered networks as email authentication… mobile authentication does not let you add new remembered networks.
In other words, it seems to be working as they intended (for me, at least). I’m just waiting for them to make that UI to let us delete remembered networks. So I can be prompted from mobile authentication every time, no matter what.
I am using a YubiKey (USB key) to log into the game and these forums.
I posted some setup details for the YubiKey HERE
Bear in mind that it might NOT prompt you to authenticate every time… because they have tied it in with email authentication: if you have any “remembered networks” through using email authentication, you will not be prompted for mobile authentication from those locations.
There is no UI to remove remembered networks at this time, but they are planning to make one. So if (like me) you want their 2-factor authentication to actually BE a proper 2-factor authentication (enter code at every login)… but you have remembered networks… you’ll have to wait until that UI is in place. I hope that’s going to be Real Soon Now :-/
