The Death of Snaff.

Okay, look. You know those players who are just so ridiculously stubborn that they’ll lie around forever instead of waypointing, even in the most remote or hazardous places, because someone might find and revive them?

His body might be gone, but you’ll never convince me some part of him isn’t still waiting out there. He did mentor Zojja, so he can’t have any shortage of patience…and with a mind like that, he’s probably not even bored.

So there’s no need to despair. Once that area opens up to players, someone will notice the “defeated ally” mark on their minimap and go get him. (I doubt the immediate area is as enemy-saturated as it was during the event.)

Homophobia & the Ignore System

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kestin.2368

Kestin.2368

I have two questions.

One: A mod has stepped in to say that we can and should report instances of homophobia. Good. But does this apply to all forms of bigotry? For instance, the casual use of a certain ableist slur is at least as common as “that’s gay”, and yet the vast majority of websites I’ve been to don’t consider it even worthy of putting on the filter. If I report people who use that, will I be the one to get in trouble? I’m all for fighting slurs, but not being banned is a bit more important to me at the moment, so I want to know exactly where the rules fall.

Two: I reported the fact that blocking doesn’t work for guild chat more than four months ago. In the time since I did so, my once active and fun guild has become a lifeless well of bitterness, all thanks to drama that could very easily have been avoided — if only the parties involved had been able to block each other. Why is it that in all this time, not one staff member has acknowledged the existence of that thread or the tickets I sent? Why is it that this thread seems to be the first time they have seen any feedback on the issue?

The basics: What really matters here?

Now, I’ve been reading up on this whole election business, and I have to say I’ve got a question on my mind. You all busy yourselves with endless debates on benefits, drawbacks, even personality when it comes to the candidates. And that’s all well and good; it certainly helps to keep those of us whose information senses aren’t so keen up to date. Some of you focus on the leadership aspect of the job, others on the tactical necessities of a position of power in such a major domain, and in general, this forum has managed to hit on many key points of consideration.

But I ask you: what about stability? How many times, in the past year alone, has chaos emerged in Lion’s Arch? How often do things fly out of control, only able to be put back together by quintets of fighters and adventurers with mutually contradictory and yet oddly similar backstories? As players, chaos means content, and that’s great for us. But as citizens, do we really want that all the time? I doubt we do.

So I, for one, won’t vote for a candidate based on their promises of cheap commodities or flashy fractals. I’m going to vote for whoever I think will keep this city on an evon kiel.

Block feature not working in guild chat

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

I don’t know if it’s just guild chat that’s bugged or if it’s anywhere else as well, but I can still see what people say even when they’re on my ignore list. The first time I tried was a few months ago, though sadly I can’t remember exactly how long, and I sent in a ticket then. I also sent one in a few weeks ago. The issue still isn’t fixed, and I would really like to be able to chat with my guild without having to “hear” people who grate my last nerve but aren’t breaking any rules…

What does Jormag do with females?

in Lore

Posted by: Kestin.2368

Kestin.2368

Explorer Hekja became Risen in Estate of Decay, so we know at least Zhaitan can corrupt female norn. We also find out, in the early norn quest where you become a minotaur, that Sons of Svanir don’t have any women around to reproduce with, so it’s not likely that they become sex slaves.

I think the most logical answer to this question would be that they just straight-out die, but the question is still why they would be killed instead of turning to icebrood, and whether it’s mental, physiological, or just Jormag being a misogynist.

30 balloons is too much

in Living World

Posted by: Kestin.2368

Kestin.2368

It seems that the balloons do NOT reset. You need to find 30 unique balloons across the entire world map. This could make it problematic for players with only low level characters.

What percentage of players do you think fit that category?

o/

The game has grown since launch, you know. There are new players.

So what percentage of players only have characters of level 10 or less? You didn’t answer the question, you avoided it. I believe you avoided it because you know that the number of people that fit that category are not enough to be concerned with.

Wow, yeah, they should completely ignore new players. Only the ones who signed up on the exact day of launch should matter. Brilliant. You truly have a bright future in game development. -facepalm-

Why can't we have gray eyes?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Kestin.2368

Kestin.2368

This mostly applies to humans and norn, because the other races’ eyes work differently in terms of color (and iirc, they do have gray options for their scleras).

Seriously, why don’t we get gray eyes? We have all sorts of shades of brown, green, blue, and heck, we even get a few purples. Purple, but not plain gray, which occurs far more frequently in the real world? We need multiple shades, too — a few lights, couple darks, some in between…

I mean, really…seems like quite a simple oversight if you ask me

Speculation on what the Queen has to say

in Clockwork Chaos

Posted by: Kestin.2368

Kestin.2368

My speculation is she will gather everyone in the pavilion, lock the doors and then command her army of robots to kill every human in the city. We will then try to save the people, she will be lethaly injured in the process and she will eventually die in Logan’s hands, with her memories muddied and asking if she did well…

No, I’m not joking. I don’t know why, but I’m getting some seriously strong Code Geass vibes on this one…

In his hands?

Does she get hit with an asura shrink ray during the battle or something?

Does anyone see a problem with this?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Kestin.2368

I spent ages previewing different armor skins to see what would go nicely with the radiant pieces, as I’m less than halfway to the boots, let alone the top and bottom (which, imo, aren’t what I want anyway). I finally settled on the Armageddon legs, even though they cost a lot of karma, because with celestial dye, the…er, hanging-down-part seemed to glow almost like the rest. Since I can’t put images in posts, check out the attachment to see what happened.

Even with the brightest white dye, they’re dull as anything. Why? Is there anything I can do with my graphics settings to see it in-game like I see it in the preview, or is it a problem with the game itself? I’m really disappointed.

TA meta no longer obtainable?

in Living World

Posted by: Kestin.2368

Kestin.2368

I haven’t yet gotten the TA living story meta, and now it’s not showing up under Living Story, yet it’s also missing from Historical. Is it still achievable? Or is that yet another mini I’ve missed out on forever? Every other time we had one event for the first half of the month and another for the second, the first was still doable all throughout the second half…please tell me it’s just a UI error and I can still get the achieve?

My top ten predictions:

1. “Thanks to the efforts of (insert NPC of your choice here), we have been able to secure a new trade agreement with the people of Cantha/Elona.”

2. “Logan and I are getting married, and you all are invited to the wedding feast. As the Watchknights have been proven to be somewhat unreliable, security will be provided by our new friends, the White Mantle.”

3. “We have learned the the Aetherblades actually come from a future Tyria which is ruled by—” And at this point she is assassinated.

4. “Your face is funny! Watch the ledges!!!” (Rambling and utterly drunk on skritt beer, her highness is led from the pavilion leaning on a very embarrased Rox.)

5. “CITIZENS! CITIZENS! CITIZENS!!!” (Those of you who remember the original Southsun Cove release will recognize this.)

6. “Zoija of Destiny’s Edge has unveiled what she considers to be the ultimate solution to the centaur problem. She calls it a glue factory…”

7. “All hail UberQuaggan!”

8. “I am pleased to announce that the charr have named Rytlock Brimstone as their new Khan-Ur. In celebration of this, cowtapults will be erected in all parts of Tyria.”

9. "His Undead Excellency Palawa Joko has graciously offered to “repopulate” the lost land of Orr with his own people…"

10. “And now let us welcome our guest speaker Trahearne, who will offer some words of encouragement in these dark times…wait, Logan, where are you running off to? LOGAN!!!

:D

I legit burst out laughing. Congratulations, you’re my first officially “liked” post on this forum. :P Although I have to say the idea of her marrying Rytlock is my favorite so far.

Zhaitaffy: eat it at your own risk!

in Dragon Bash

Posted by: Kestin.2368

Kestin.2368

Those of you who were around in October might remember that eating too much candy corn caused your character to projectile vomit. If I recall correctly, you had to eat about 50-100 pieces at a time for this to happen. These seemingly innocuous dragon-themed candies, however, induce violent regurgitation after only eating five or ten in a row.

And by the way…just how much of it is there? The candy corn was mined from magical candy corn nodes, so it was essentially infinite. But this time, there are no nodes. Tens of thousands of citizens are hoarding it by the hundreds, and it never seems to dry up. How could they possibly make enough to keep us all up to our ears in it for an entire month?

Now, in the spirit of the occasion, let’s consider another matter entirely. Zhaitan’s body is still around somewhere in the ruins of Arah. Exploration teams regularly traverse the city, and I can’t imagine they’re too happy about the stench of twice-dead dragon. So it’s not hard to believe that somebody, somewhere, finally decided to do something about it.

But how on Tyria does one dispose of a corpse of such great size? Where does it all go?

I’ll tell you where it’s all going. It’s being made into candy and handed out to unwitting revelers as we speak. It’s no wonder they can’t seem to keep it in their stomachs for long!

Block feature not working in guild chat

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Kestin.2368

Kestin.2368

Well, my guild just pretty much tore itself apart. It’s a long story, but there’s a very good chance it wouldn’t have happened if we’d been able to block each other. I’ve tried to be polite about this, but I reported it four months ago and it hasn’t even been addressed, let alone fixed. So…thanks for nothing, I guess. :/
