You can get it without using SPs at all.
That is not being helpful in the least.
Healing Tome- : Antitoxin Spray
(this item costs 5 Gold coin + 250 Pristine Toxic Spore Samples Pristine Toxic Spore Sample; it is available from from Marjory Delaqua during Tower of Nightmares after giving her 50 of the samples)Still too much.
Depends on how you look at it. I happen to be checking this earlier and the best SP -> gold conversion I am aware of is 1 SP for 4g which means the 25SP would be worth 100g. In comparison to that buying from Marjory is a very nice discount.
I, too, would like to know how to convert SP to gold. I’ve got stacks of scrolls of knowledge in my bank and my mains have a minimum of 50 skill points on their person. Or PM me on how to convert them.
Yeah, I’d definitely buy it too, as long as it wasn’t trapped behind RNG boxes.
am i the only one that uses the default double tap w for forward dodge or double tap s for backward dodge? im surprised to see no one does it. why use up a key you could be using for something else? the double tap w or s works so well, for me anyway.
I use it as well. I keep it enabled because I often forget which button I mapped the ‘dodge’ key on.
(topic) I use the Razer Naga mouse, so I hardly need to make many moves away from WASD. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have some stuff remapped elsewhere:
F1 – Z
F2 – X
F3 – C
F4 – V
Walk – J
Weapon swap – Scroll wheel (click)
Dodge – Mouse button 4
Why bother reporting? It isn’t like the bugs in the skills/traits in just about every profession are getting acknowledged, let alone fixed. In some cases, new problems are piled on top of old ones, making complaints worse while remaining unfixed (basically like spraying cologne on a stinking turd).
You are part of the problem.
I implore you, enlighten me so I can become part of this ‘holy’ solution. Or at least, tell me more about how much of a problem I am when the problem-solving ball is not in our court.
For those that want this for armor, it’s not gonna happen, with reason. The game devs want classes to have distinct appearances for armor weight. Having a light armor toon wearing heavy armor looking town clothes in PvP/WvW is not gonna happen.
Bloody Prince/Witch outfits = Light armor
Executioner outfit = Medium armor
Mad King outfit = Heavy
Not very difficult to see which armors would fit each class best.
I would have doubtlessly bought at least two of those outfits were they armor skins. No point in me wasting money on town clothes.

Ranger – Preparations as an alternative to the pet mechanic.
What does this mean?
In GW1, Preparations were skills that applied an additional effect to a Ranger’s arrows. Check out this page for more info on them: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Preparation
(topic) Guardian: Have the scepter auto-attack function similarly to the necro’s.
(edited by Kevlar Eater.1985)
Originally the bomb range was 120 units, which was basically closer-than-melee, which turned me off from using bombs in cramped places. Now I gotta think up a close-range build with the bomb kit as the star.
All the hard questions were dodged, and nothing of any real significance was said. Aside from the preview, or whatever it was, the dude on the mic was just talking without saying anything.
No point in listening if someone is gonna do that (whether or not they’re being ordered to).
Dragonbrand has taken it down as well.
My server is Overflow, the same for 90% of us who haven’t even seen him drop past 80.
I’ve yet to see a fight where anyone demonstrated that they’d learned anything. It consists of a half-dozen of us giving a two-minute explanation of mechanics, then 15 minutes of all the players present ignoring every single instruction they were given.
I’m sorry to hear that, something’s got to give though. Every server has the potential to being able to beat him, but everyone needs to be into it.
Or have Blackgate’s (or its EU equivalent) assistance, otherwise most servers will not ever shear off more than 25% of Teq’s health
I’d like an invite if there’s still space.
Dragonbrand failed as well. Gods, this is gonna be annoying. Got him to 90% health.
I hate making “builds” and trying them out in PvE/WvW, only to realize that I basically tickle the enemy while they cut me down and stomp on my groin to finish me off. With that said, I come to you ranger experts for help on this build. I haven’t bought the parts yet, as I fear I would be wasting my money/laurels on negligible damage:
Dies it need anything extra?
7/10
The outfit/weapon match isn’t too bad, but the colors are off-putting. The yellow stands out far too much when Twilight, as far as I know and seen, is almost entirely red/black. Getting rid of the yellow parts would make your outfit a bit more boring in others’ eyes, but color-wise it would make a bit more sense.
Gir Dhuumsong. Dunno if it’s taken and I don’t really care.
+1 internetz if you understand the reference
1. Illogical profession balance: This game is balanced around its least played mode: s/tpvp, yet those changes that should have focused on that part get cascades onto PvE/WvW so that any negative changes are across the board. Take a look at the Ranger sub-forum as a prime example of the crap that’s happening. And strong classes get stronger while weak classes get weaker.
2. No new permanent dungeons. To be frank, I’m not expecting another dungeon until we get an expansion.
3. Everything that is not cash shop-related is an afterthought.
Why ask questions you already know the answers to? Personally, I think this poll is nigh-meaningless, as there is already quite a bit of consensus in what is worse off than the rest, pre- and -post patch.
If they were, the tickets would doubtlessly be in cash boxes with a microscopically small chance of getting one, no matter how much money you’d spend. And/Or hidden in boxes seen in drops that have an even smaller chance than the aforementioned.
Basically, no matter what happens, we will lose.
There is light at the end of the tunnel. It’s source: a train.
But I’m keeping my ranger just in case ANet decides to stop sitting on their hands when it comes to positive changes with it. Like hell I’m gonna waste the hours and gold spent making her look good and feel as powerful as possible pre-patch. I’m simply using a dinghy to get away from the ship. I never said I was gonna sink (read: delete) it.
No, don’t do that. The Warrior took a beating in this last patch too. Check out the Warrior forums.
They’re mad because they’ve experienced their first (or second? I dunno) nerf. Once they start getting as frequently gutted as the ranger patch after patch with a dev basically trolling them, I’ll learn to sympathize. I’m not saying they should take it; of course they have quite a few problems that need addressing.
OP, if you wanna be a “ranger”, roll a warrior or thief. Their bow skills have more and better utility, are more damaging, have combo fields and the ability to blast them. Warrior’s #1 skill shoots two arrows as fast as a ranger can shoot one from it’s longbow, and the thief’s #1 shortbow skill can bounce off and hit up to two others or zigzag between two foes twice.
Yes, we care about the forums.
We also care about all the classes equally.
You and yours have an awfully quirky way of showing it.
I would throw money at them if these weapons were permanently available (as well as not hidden behind betting boxes, but we’d sooner see sharks grow arms, legs, the ability to breathe air and shoot lasers from their eyes than see weapon tickets as purchases).
Well soon in order to match the short bow range change, they gonna reduce axe range to make it melee
If it would cleave like the sword and not root the user in place, I’d happily accept the change.
I blame the pet nerfs on the s/tpvp players who stood still while they let a pet bite them.
And OP, was the nerf necessary in PvE as well, considering Rangers were borderline useless beforehand? Are you happy that people would at best, reluctantly accept you in whatever group content you wish to play and at worst, insta-kick you when you show up with a weak class that’s only gotten weaker?
OR, ANET is removing gold to gems because of the lack of people spending RL cash for gems. -LOL
At this point in the game, I’m fully expecting this to happen.
(topic) Those armors are far too ugly for my taste. Mayhaps were Kasmeer and Marjory’s armors available, I’d drop some cash for them. Also, one look at what they did to the Ranger and it reinforced why I refuse to spend money in the store. Of course, I could “always use in-game gold”, but let’s get real here: I’m not a 1%-er in-game (or in real life); I can barely save — let alone make — money in this game.
I’m happy with the nerf as well. It just makes it significantly easier to beat them down.
Not that I had much trouble with them in WvW…
Besides all the dungeons and dungeoneers being Ranger-unfriendly and that no one want to do story mode because it’s significantly harder/tedious/longer/less rewarding than Exploitable Explorable Mode or 100%-ing the map the dungeon is in? What I really think of each dungeon:
1 – AC. I refuse to do path 2 unless it’s with guildies and I’m a guardian dedicated to mitigating the boss’ projectiles. Paths 1 and 3 I don’t mind pugging it; still easy.
2. CM. Easy to pug, as long as someone has some form of projectile mitigation, otherwise the team will get shredded from afar.
3. TA. I could do this dungeon in my sleep. The hounds at the very beginning are a good indication in how the team you’re in will work throughout the dungeon. If the dogs go down quick and easy with minimum downed perosns, great. If we wipe, may as well get ready for an expensive repair bill.
4. SE. I forgot this dungeon existed, it’s been so long since I’ve been in it.
5. CoF. Never done it before, and those who wanna farm it make sure it stays that way unless I roll a warrior or buy my mesmer zerker gear and learn every inch of path 1 via youtube.
6. HotW. Whoever made the bosses for paths 2 and 3 must have a special hatred for players. Path 1 is quite easy.
7. CoE. Haven’t played it because no one wants to do it. No wonder charged lodgestones are so expensive.
8. Arah. Fun until any team I’m in encounters Lupi, then it goes to hell from there.
9. FotM. The only dungeon worth doing, and which happens to contain the most competent pugs, as far as I know.

Leaving this here, and waiting for Anet to actually fix the bows.
I’d expect to see a snowball stand a chance in magma before they would alter the bow to do more damage, or at least, comparable damage or functionality to that of a warrior’s.
1. Have engineers aim their rifle like a warrior (current method of aiming is immersion-breaking)
2. Faster rifle/pistol fire rate (25% should do nicely)
3. Higher health/toughness for turrets
I’m pretty certain none of these will ever happen, since they actually help the engineer, and we can’t have that.
!http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/5733/gw057z.jpg! (not the best when it comes to this forum’s code)
Power Gloves – they’re so bad.
I definitely need some (more) experience and tokens from this place. If you don’t have a group going, drop me a line.
Only an engineer would rather siege with grenades than a mortar.
Only an engineer’s roundhouse kick could set someone on fire.
Only an engineer’s stare could make someone feel vulnerable.
15k Hundred Blades, heavy damage and long range on a rifle (oh, and unlike the engineer, it can actually aim properly), heavy armor and endless love from the devs?
Meanwhile engineers/mesmers/necros/rangers are a in a bad spot with the former two getting worse in every patch while the latter two are almost literally ignored and when spoken to, are lied to.
This just makes me sick.
I would recommend the mystic pistol. It actually looks like a pistol.
Kinda wish this topic existed before I made an engineer and leveled it fully. Had I known all the problems an engie faced alongside heavy nerfing and neglect sooner, I would have spent that same time leveling a soldier or ele and gotten rich from massive loot drops.
As a Mesmer is my main I’m a bit gutted about this as I do use a GS build, what I am surprised about is the lack of AN input on this thread. It’s clear we’re all in the same boat, the change is way too much regardless of what happened to other classes.
A few months ago I’d would have expected AN to chime in and let us know if this was an oversight or it really was intended to reduce the damage of a class so much.
I think one small post by someone in the know would get a lot of respect from your fans AN.
I understand you are upset but you are exaggerating this a tad bit.
1. the patch that did this to us was 2 weeks ago (not months).
2. They responded back to us fairly quickly that this was a bug and not intended. This is from Karl:
Illusionary Berserker has not received a direct damage decrease. Instead, is seems that the damage reduction you (and I) are seeing is most likely associated this fix:
“Fixed a bug that caused many piercing, boomerang, and bouncing projectiles (those that hit more than 1 target) to continually increase in damage the more targets they hit.”
We are aware that this particular phantasm is now experiencing a significant drop in damage and are looking at getting it back to a more effective state.
Thanks for keeping the post civil and constructive!
-KarlMy assumption is that they will have this fixed in their next build since they have agreed that it was not intended.
Let’s see:
Stealth nerf introduced → people find it and complain → dev eventually acknowledges it and calls it “unintentional” → people complain some more until patch where iBerserker might receive 30-60% of its original damage back → faith restored until next major skill nerf → rinse and repeat.
I’m as sure as death and taxes that iBerserker will not get its original damage back, and that we will receive nerfs that will further weaken the core mechanic of this class to pointlessness.
I like to use iDefender, Feedback and Null Field.
- iDefender is supposedly decent for damage mitigation, even though I doubt it works. It’s also a supposedly decent buff for melee players.
- Feedback makes for a decent ethereal field to leap into/out of and most of like chaos armor when it’s blasted on the party. Since most things like to shoot at my mesmer at the exclusion of all else, even after my death, I’m gonna reflect as much as I can.
- Null Field functions in one of two ways: mass condition/boon removal or an ethereal field to do things in. Usually both.
Female human equipping an exotic:
“Mine… all mine!”
“Sweet, sweet loot.”
Human male after an achievement:
“I’m an achiever; I achieve things.”
Warrior in events:
“Shakeitoffshakeitoffshakeitoffshakeitoff….”
In Lion’s Arch trading forum:
Human female: “It’s a bad day to make wine…”
Sylvari female: “But it’s a fine day to drink it.”
“Citizens- — coming soon, the newest and most unique resort destination in all of Tyria Brought to you by the Consortium!” or “Citizenscitizenscitizensctizens….”
Nothing happening in Dragonbrand overflow (possibly main server as well).
To me, if the sword, pistol and/or Time Warp were hit with nerfs that made them useless no matter where I played (and I’m a PvE player), then I’ll just give up, buy some gems for a character slot and roll a warrior or continue my engineer. The same can be said for the staff if it takes another beating. Lyssa knows these things are gonna get the nerf hammer now that they were mentioned.
I’m thinking of forgoing my mesmer in favor of leveling my engineer. Then when it hits level 80 I’ll be able contribute more to a dungeon group with healing turret alone than a mesmer’s entire arsenal.
Perhaps one way to get ANET’s attention is for everyone to stop playing mesmer.
And they’ll still nerf the class even further down oblivion.
I dunno why I even bother with this class anymore. The weakest class in PvE gets weaker with every patch, no “fix” works, “buffs” to the torch, which is useless no matter how you look at it, iBerserker damage cut heavily and it wasn’t even mentioned in the patch…
Not like this is gonna be read.
Next nerf? Most likely:
- Glamour skills including Portal would have their cooldowns doubled and durations halved
- Phantasm damage reduced to that of a clone’s and attack once every minute
- Mantra preparation would root the caster to the ground and take thrice as long to ready
- All elite skills would have durations halved and cooldowns doubled
These changes will occur in all PvP formats and PvE.
