I too am curious about this. Lets hope apple’s focus on performance increase will effect guild wars 2 as well
. We can always hope.
Mine is 20.64 GB. Weird that it can vary that much.
I’m getting quite decent fps but that is on medium settings, with player quality and limit both on low (don’t care that much about it anyway. as long as I can see my fellow dungeon goers in full gear). I think it is quite a good port. If I switch to windows it would run I think 30-40 % better on same settings so that is nice. Before I thought it was worth it to reboot to windows if I wanted to play but lately I’m very happy with the client. Ever since the trading post got an overhaul it works consistent and it is all nice.
I think still some performance patches could be nice and possible but can’t complain!
MacBook Pro (15-inch, Early 2011)
Processor: 2,2 GHz Intel Core i7
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB
A lot of the time when I open my world map it seems to change to like 5 fps, quickly dropping to 2 fps. It kind of feels like it has delayed input. If I start moving the map in circles for example I can see my cursor doing just fine but he map goes all strange.
Anyone else experiencing this?
PS: this didn’t always happen. Reoccured with last patch it seemed but it was also happening during some previous patches.
Also having problems lately. Especially during Tequatl fight. Think I disconnected about 4 times now in the last burn phase… Ofc all time waiting around and fighting was for nothing then.
I located this Crach.dmp file, hope its in there somewhere (took right after I disconnected and relogged once in the hopes of still getting my loot) since I can’t read this file format.

Simply logging out (Shift-Cmd-Q) and relogging often solves this for me.
Welcome!
Though to be completely honest I’m not filled with confident. This is about the 3rd or 4th time we got news of better communication which were all followed by months of silence. Guess we’ll see.
Got hacked too but acted just in time. (they had already changed my password somehow). Reset a new email address trough support and installed the authenticator. No way they can get in but I still DAILY get emails send to my new email address about password reset requests. Apparently they can’t stop this for me but I can’t go add no reply@guildwars2.com to my blacklist…
Somehow I find it difficult to believe that it is my own fault that the email is known to them. How can they possibly know the new email address I set after like 2 days. Seeing the large amount of people having account problems I would suggest Anet looks into their own security just to be sure.
Are you saying you crash (not disconnect, because that has most likely to do with your internet connection) every time you do the event? Because only this is Mac related. Missing the event because you didn’t know they switched to a fixed schedule for World Bosses has nothing to do with it. Also they will never compensate you for anything like this. To me it seems more like a rant now than a constructive problem.
If you are indeed crashing all the time it might help to describe what happens / what errors you get. And opening a support ticket with the errors might help too (though you need to stay very calm through the whole process as they always advice you to do the most basic things first).
Happened to mee today. I got a password reset email today but ignored it. Then suddenly I got an email with Authorize Log-in attempt from:
City: Yonghe
Region: 01
Country: CN
(not sure if I am allowed to put op their IP)
My password was changed when I got home. This should mean they can hack gw2 servers or my email accounts. Either way I’ve put in new better password for gw and my email and hope it is alright now. (nothing seems to have disappeared from my account).
Also super sure no guild/friend or whatever may have had access to my account ever.
It sucks about the crashing but there is a schedule for the world bosses available. So you at least don’t have to wait that long for an event.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/the-megaserver-system-world-bosses-and-events/
Or http://dulfy.net/2014/04/23/event-timer/ Which is a timer app that tells you what is up and what comes up next.
Does not really answer your question but I always use the app “Appcleaner” to remove such apps that need installing. (I’ve also searched quickly but couldn’t find a un-instalation)
Same, can’t play wow for longer than 30 min because the game decides it was long enough.
Even better that the que is longer than 30 min often. That makes it even more enjoyable!
Just had this too. Was fighting at shatterer and it closed down. No lag or fps issues just quit within a few secs.
Macbook pro early 2011
It only unlocks the skin if the item is already soul/account bound when you pick it up. If you would make the Minstrel and want the skin you have to right click and unlock the skin. This will mace it account bound so you cannot get the skin for free and then sell an item.
Lets just hope they actually installed their april 15th patch on a mac and saw it launch properly. Just saying!
Ok, the patch didn’t seem to fix it for me either. I just had blank screens. But then I went into “My transactions” and that loaded. I then clicked a item i had listed and then suddenly it followed the item to the TP and that loaded then. Since I did this the TP and Gemstore load and work!
Try this (hope it also works with “items i’ve sold”)
Edit: I spoke a bit too soon. The gemstone didn’t fully function yet. (also couldn’t buy gems) but after closing Guildwars2 and Force quiting -cookied, -cvmcompiler, -wineserver, and/or -guildwars2 the gemstore also works now.

1. Communication. Basically I completely agree with Nageth’s first point. Even if you give us some complicated patch notes, some of us could test it a bit and give you some feedback on your changes.
2. Trading post loading issue. (I would look into the “cookied” process since shutting down GW2 and then force quiting cookied always fixes the loading issue for me at least).
3. Some refining of the port, it seems like a whiny complaint and i know it is difficult to optimise but I’m sure something can be done
I have complete faith.
4. Mac test team (put a few random dev testers on a mac :P, they too can give excellent feedback to the mac team then). To prevent things like the massive FPS issue introduced a few patches back (fixed 2 weeks later).
Also a statement about the future of the mac client would be appreciated (ever any chance on OpenGL version?). Though I totally understand that a statement like this can be very risky. Still I would be happy with “We are not planning a native client but are putting a lot of effort in optimising the port tot the max!” But still I can get why you would never say this to avoid complaints.
But to support wish 1, this does not count for bug fix progress etc.
5. I still am very grateful for the Mac client (even though it is a port) since it totally beats booting windows every time I want to play! And the game is getting beter and better with every patch so I’ll stick around for a long time
.

They always say “we really do read all your topics”. I just can’t believe this though.
If they ignore us while most are just crying out for a reaction (Anet, not a patch but a reaction!), I know they can’t think, “ah I can’t really say anything new about this so I will just say nothing for now”. For me this proves they look at this max once per week.
Closing cookied only works for me if I first close guild wars 2 itself and then force quit cookied. Else nothing happens.
This always works for me:
CLOSE guild wars 2 completely.
Use activity Monitor and find these 4 processes and close them if they are up (force quit):
– wineserver
– CVMCompiler
– cookied
– (multiple) Guild Wars 2
Then start Guild Wars again.
I feel like it is very unlikely that we will ever get a mac dev team… Just based on everything that went on there on the forums since mac client launched.
Next time this happens first try to shut down Guild Wars and open up “Activity Monitor” Search for “Cookied” and force quit it (it will restart but that is fine). Also check if CVMcompiler, wine and all guildwars2 processes are correctly closed.
Always when the pages of the TP do not load I can fix it by closing guild wars and force quiting cookied.
Hey all,
Just checking in to let everyone know we believe we have identified the issue and we are working on getting it in the next hotfix. If this changes, I will let everyone know.
I also want to let you know that uninstalling/reinstalling the client will not fix this crash, so I just ask that everyone hang tight until we can get this fix rolled out to you all.
I appreciate everyone’s patience as I know how frustrating this can be.

Wow!
I have not yet experienced this problem myself but I just wanted to say I’m very impressed at the quick response and useful information you provided. Compared with the previous mac related issue (frame drop) this is handled very well!
I’m impressed, please keep up the good work in general and on the mac community as well! The amount of sarcasm is almost unbearable.
Honestly no sarcasm. Compared to previous support this is very good. Though it does of course depend on when the “hotfix” arrives and if it did fix it. Took 2 weeks to fix the low fps problem with about no response the first week.

I like it! Only downside is there is no reward for it but fine.
Still the chance to get a 650 gold skin is there! Though in about 10 runs I’ve never seen anyone get a skin….
(message me if you want to run it some time (EU)).
2nd time we tried. 2 times no attunements
On Deso we killed all 3 (even within 2 min) but no circles appeared. (on main server. bugged again?)
I feel like this issue must be VEEERY hard to fix, else 2 weeks is too long…
(and please Anet don’t think people are just mindlessly complaining on the mac forums. You must see that there is legit reasoning behind it. “We really care very much” says little when actions speak so clearly)
(edited by Kioshi.6597)
Can you not release your fix as a “hot fix”? I will gladly help test the fix for you! Anything better than what I deal with now.
Hey geo, Something else you might try is using the native mac screenshots.
Press cmd+shift+3 to make a screenshot of the whole screen. The picture is placed on your desktop.
PS: some other nice tricks;
cmd+shift+4 you can make a selection of the screen to capture (but this is not for in-game)
and adding ctrl to both combinations puts the screenshots to the clipboard (when you need a figure to paste in a document for example)
Edit: since the format from this method also gives PNG (which is definitely better than JPG) you might also consider the following. When previewing the screenshot it might give some strange effects when it is resized to the window of preview (if you use this) when you zoom in a bit it shows the original pixel/inch ratio resulting in the high deff picture. Same should be achieved if you view your pictures at full screen.

I suspect this will run at max settings smoothly :P! (but never on high textures because of the 32 bit port xD)
Lets hope they fix it before next patch. It seems like a giant zerk fest in LA. Which we can’t do then because of the 0fps…
Is the content in LA going to be isntanced?

Yes very much what I expect. Hope they fix the fps trouble before the release. Would be sad if the enjoyment of this patch is taken away by a bug.

I’m on mac too but the 0fps was introduced with last patched. Always ran fine before that…
I still think my “everything overlaps” approach is the one most likely to be correct, since “left only” and “right only” approaches run into the fact that both sides generally have something on either edge.
It has to be this or else it is pretty much unsolvable. So you’re saying see picture?
I will try this today but we also have to come up with a way to determine what indicates spaces between the words. Else it is too hard to translate.
A plee to ANet make sure to keep us updated even if its just a lame post which say sorry not found anything yet so we know whats going on and does not move over to something else in the mean while.
I’ve said this soooooooo many times to them and also requested it trough ticket support but they always say. “We have best interest etc etc. We will only post if we have something new to say” They don’t seem to understand that saying: “We are working on it but it might take longer than we thought” or “We’ve made some progress today” is better than saying nothing.
Since I cannot image that they really think like this I just assume they have very limited people available that work on the mac client from time to time and the communication between the Social group and the mac developers is just not there. Which seems a lot more likely than having a lot of people working on it but never saying a thing about it while customers are becoming more and more frustrated.
I wonder how long it would take to fix this bug if it was not just mac related but for everyone. Within 24 hours :P?
And here are my specs, got a bad case of the 3fps too.
MacBook Pro 15-inch, Early 2011
2,2 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB
Yes unfortunately that is the reason I have to play on normal scale too.
As time passes I am more and more convinced that this code is an hoax created for purely aesthetic reasons. Here are my reasons :
1) Some lines are mirrored, others are not : cheap process to generate graphically different lines of symbols that can be used to fill up Scarlet’s screen.
2) No obvious way to disentangle large symbols. Even assuming that there is 1 point of junction between two fused symbols, there are many possibilities for some symbols.
3) Even if we manage to disentangle our symbols the right way, the text resists frequential analysis (especially the analysis of bigrams). This is because of mirrorred lines that screw up frequencies.
Conclusion : I am not investing more time to decipher something that is not meant to be cracked.
I agree. I’ve come to the same conclusion. Mainly because of point 2.
Hope once the Living Story arch is over the devs can tell us if it actually was relevant
I think it is quite impossible to solve the cipher the way we are going at it now. The problem are the merged symbols. Since they can be formed from multiple symbols like VodCom showed this already gives multiple translations.
However when assuming that symbols only can be merged if the line is equal for both symbols it is very hard to solve.
What I’ve been doing for quite some time is assigning every symbol to a letter so you can input the sequence in several programs.
The sequence I’m working with now is :
aeifjghfbofkl srfegtspgeaefp wfogpfsqdsvrf qigbfuphfjivcu uceghlhfuerocn gtcfxfovegsf yvudigpptahqoa jyeoceghlemfa pefafhnguhfeig
And am using http://www.blisstonia.com/software/WebDecrypto/
This program tries to find the right letters that result in sensible words. It has two options; 1 with known spaces and a option that finds spaces between words itself.
This last option seems the obvious one but it is very hard for the program to find solutions. You can test this by translating this sentence for example: Vjhqboi tmbb hiihjy Bmwrv Hqjd roui which is translatable when you use the “trust spaces” option but if you try it with the “find spaces” option after removing the spaces it will not make sense.
You can however give the program tips like v=s or roui=next but you will see that it needs a lot before it makes sense. It gets easies the longer the sequence is though.
But what my point is, you can see how difficult it is to simply try to assign the right letters to the code. However if you also can’t be sure about the symbols it will be downright impossible.
So either this is something the devs put in for fun, with never the intention of people solving it. Or we must restart and look for more secure ways to retrieve the code.
At first I started with a way to try to determine spaces between the words. I though there must be a reason why some symbols were stuck together. Maybe that were the actual words resulting in: aei f j ghf b o fkl srfeg t s p ge ae fpw f og p fs q ds v rfqig bkittenp hf ji vcuu ceghl hfu ero c ng t cf x f o vegs fy v u d ig p p tahqo aj yeo c e ghl e mfape fa fh ng u hfeig
But this is not right since too many words are too short.
So just to sum up. If we assume we are on the right path we need a way to determine spaces, else we need a whole new approach.
ARRGG I’m so done with their stupid attitude. IF we get a response it is only because they don’t want us to post out of our subforum. And they will be like “bla bla we didn’t have problems. Don’t all jump on the Mac negative bandwagon” simple because they don’t know whats going on in this community. And if they respond to me now with the message “But we do read everything that you guys post here!” than that is just worse for me. Meaning they read it but think “Meh, let someone else deal with it, I can’t be bothered to respond (unless the gemstone breaks of course)”
Feels so frustrating because whatever you do, sending support tickets or ask for help on other sub forums. I know from experience from release that it won’t matter anyway…
See my post above, that is what i’ve done. But a big part is exactly the same. Only the indicated part differs. But i’ve taken individual lines and laying them over different lines, Rotated and mirrored the line but never did it yield to anything understandable.
The only thing that makes me think there is reasoning behind this is because of the rearrangement of the middle part. Why wouldn’t they just have the exact same running on both side if it were only decoration.
Edit:
I’ve been doing a lot of overlaying in photoshop but nothing gives results.
If you do a basic overlay of both sides you get this.
I’ve also rotated the nonmatching part, this is the only thing that gives letters/numbers but I never expect this to be a solution since there is no reasoning behind doing this.

Hello,
I’ve been looking a long time for a sPvP guild. It would be ideal if there was a guild with a lot of players that do pvp so they can easily form team. NA has got a lot guild like this but I am in EU and there just doesn’t seem to be one. Anyone that can help me?
I am also looking for a sPvP guild. It takes so long to find teams! And I’ve been searching for a long time on the internet (guild databases etc) and in game for a guild with spvp players so teams can quickly and easily be formed.
I was actually working on creating a decent image too and just finished. Nice to see you’ve already started the thread.
I also aligned the code from the console and found the main part that repeats itself and concluded the same as you did.
I found that most characters resemble the Pigpen Cipher. When you look at the attached image you see the 9 grid square and how it works. The problem however is that there are symbols that do not match the 9x grid. However since only 1 dot can be seen it suggest that only 2 letters are put in a single square leaving 8 letters of the alphabet. In the example they use a cross to sort the remaining letters. So a V sign would be a S.
It can be that for this translation another figure must be made that matches the remaining characters found in the cypher. (maybe a symbol found elsewhere in the lair)
Unfortunately I’ve got an exam tomorrow so can’t spend too much time on it now :P but maybe this insight gives any of you an idea?
However. If it is indeed a Pigpen Cipher, we must hope they used the basic letter layout. For example it is usual to begin with a word and then finish the remaining letters of the alphabet in the grid without any double letters.
If this is the case it will be quite impossible to ever crack it. (though I would try putting in “SCARLET” since it might be obvious and doesn’t contain any double letters.
EDIT: Scarlet* xD
