Also I just want to point out that there really aren’t any great speed boosting effects out there other than the elementalists “One with Air”. The lion’s chest boosters only give +15% and the best runes only add 25% and only if you have the same run on every item of equipment. Generally the best you can get as an elementalist properly traited and wasting all rune slots and only if in air attunement would be maybe 65% average boost and 98% when using the right healing skill and wielding a staff for the #4 slot ability. That’s a lot of bending over backwards with not enough payout. And that’s among the best possible options for speed.
Now if they implemented a food that increased speed by 100% or something for an hour to a half hour, or some boost that you didn’t have to open black lion’s chest for or pay for booster packs for, while I wouldn’t prefer it, I could live without actual mounts.
I once counted the amount of mount related threads there was.
I found over 200. And of course, there has been more, since most of them have been deleted.
Why do people keep making new threads about the same dead horse? It’s not that hard to go to google and use the “site:” parameter.Well, I’m still against mounts. Tyria just isn’t tyria if people zip past you riding something ridiculous. Dolyaks are the only mounts that I could perhaps learn to accept, but we all know that is not what the mount lovers want. They generally want speed boosting mounts or fancy looking mounts. I personally don’t want any mounts that do not fit the lore. And I don’t want any forced connection either. Like, “Oh the Necrid Horsemen just visited to give few horses that were beaten to death at the forums. Wanna go for a ride?”
Of course, Gummy’s idea has it’s merits, but I’m sure some would feel that having others disable your cosmetic wonder from their screens defeats the purpose. While others would feel that pandering to both sides is the worst thing you could possibly do.
Well, it’s still the second best solution there is. Best being just staying true to the lore and not forcing mounts.
Personally I want mounts purely for the speed increase. I think that dolyaks are Excellent mounts. I could see bears as well, maybe wolves or arctodus (sp x.x) though the two latter are a bit on the small side for that generally speaking. I think that the best way to “fancy” them up would be saddles and maybe mount armor, though the idea of a dolyak in armor is a bit silly.
I do want mounts, I do not care what they look like. Though honestly I’d prefer something that fit completely in the world- aka Dolyaks which we already see running around in pretty much every single zone. And yes, one can use, if they have it, speed boosters, but ones sufficient to boost speed adequately seem unrealistic since in reality a person can only run so fast, little more realistic to see a mount going 60 mph than to see an asura doing 60.
My spouse and I seriously cannot be the only people who think that teleporting via way points severely breaks immersion and that mounts would be a much less immersion breaking way of getting around a zone more quickly? Speed boosters are nice, but even that isn’t really very realistic either, besides there are loading screens that show people mounted.
I think there should be (at least in PvE) mounts. They should enable people to get around at least as fast as any combination of speed boost effects that work together. They should dismount you if you get hit with enough force and should not have a mounting time or cast time. I think it is reasonable that one should not be able to mount them ‘indoors’ or in water (necessarily) and they should not be particularly useful for navigating tricky terrain such as one might find on jumping puzzles, perhaps one cannot jump with them, idk.
Some people whine about the zones being small and that being a reason not to have them, however they are plenty large enough that getting around inside the zones is often tedious, especially certain zones. The purpose of mounts would be less to get around between zones, and more to get around within a zone without breaking immersion (since in lore getting around via such things is, while not impossible, highly uncommon at best and very expensive at worst) or inducing a loading screen which is also highly immersion breaking.
For me it would be significantly more enjoyable playing in PvE if I were able to get around within a map more quickly. The waypoint system just makes me feel like I should do the minimum possible to complete a map and then move on to the next zone because getting around is tedious and reduces my interest in actual exploration, as they yank me out of the game and the area I’m in a plop me down elsewhere which is somewhat disorienting and does not, for me at least, encourage exploring, which I would prefer to do if it wasn’t so time consuming to cover basic open terrain to get to the more interesting nooks and crannies.
Hey, I’m confused, can I not get this achievement any more? The machine thing is still there, but I can’t interact with it, and when I talk to Vorpp I can only say I haven’t found the site yet. Help?
Speak of devils- I tried again right after posting here and bam, got in.
Also having this problem, my hubby too. We’ve been trying repeatedly to no effect.
Yeup. Hopefully we can get in soon.

Did you even read the post right before yours? The one from a Dev?
Yes, I did, and that doesn’t refer to the thing I was worried about. Which, admittedly I didn’t clarify well. I’m referring to the world explorer thing, from what it sounded like you can only get the reward from that once?? If I misunderstood that I am super-thrilled. Also are the legendaries, when crafted and equipped, soul bound or account bound, because that’s also a worry.
Supply/Demand
People are willing to buy them at the prices they’re selling. If they don’t sell, then prices will continue to fall until they do sell, even below the cost of manufacturing them because they will be taking up inventory space, as well as holding value that could be liquified and spent elsewhere.
And that’s as simple as it gets. If you can’t afford the bag, then it looks like you’re going to have to do with whatever size you’re currently using.
Nice stuff costs lots of money in real life too, because demand far outpaces supply.
Thing is, 20 slots really aren’t that great. In WoW I have all 24+s and even that’s not enough space. Personally I will never understand why in a fantasy world inventory space has to be hard. Anyway, it’s unlikely for supply to outweigh demand in this game for the 20 slot bag unless they release a bag with more slots, and even then, no one is going to Make bags for the purpose of selling if they sell at less than they cost to make. It’s that simple. And no one is going to make bags they can’t use if they aren’t going to sell for more than they cost to make. Even if a few people do attempt to make and sell bags, it won’t last long if they sell for less than the cost to make them, and then the supply will go back down below demand.
This is wierd. I was able to transmute using heritage stuff just fine when the game first released. I can go to the HoM, talk to the guy and get the items just fine. My accounts are linked. Password and login information match. I am able to login to both accounts. I click on the skin, drag the item over – green/green – click the button – nothing happens. I still have the skin and the item looks as it did. Any help would be appreciated. Thx.
I haven’t been able to transmute ANYTHING since the most recent patch. :s
I played GW 1 for seven years! I have EoTN. Didn’t think the patch would do this… possible that’s when it began.
I’ve seen at least one other post about the xmute issue. There was the suggestion there to unequip the item you want to xmute and then try xmuting it, haven’t tried it myself yet though.
Worth the $60 for my copy, the $60 for my hubby’s copy, and all the $$ worth of gems we’ve bought so far too!
It wasn’t Quite what I expected, but it captured the essence of every important thing I hoped for, and will almost definitely be my MMO of choice for some time to come. I look forward to their future content, and fully intend to continue supporting ANet with GW2!
Why would we want to provide incentives for partying? That would put those who choose not to party at a disadvantage. It’s not as if you don’t organically group at times. And for the record, in Orr it can be advantageous to actually party because those little blue dots communicate at least direction. Honestly with how fast paced game-play is in GW2 is forming a party can be cumbersome for play unless you can verbally communicate with those in your party as typing to communicate directions and so on can get you killed, or certainly left in the dust. And personally I see no reason to FORCE partying since the more organic groups that form and disperse are less constrained and no one places undue pressures on the others. Honestly this game seems more realistic. You don’t start hanging out with strangers irl just because you happen to do a few things together at some point. You might help each other out and high five at successful completion of some difficult task, but you’re not gonna go stalker and follow each other around. If you want to make friends and play together, get a chat program, participate in map and guild chats, start your own guild, or do things to make friends. But random partying isn’t something that the game should start pressuring players to do. Being selective about who a person parties with is not being anti-social, it’s just being selective about whom one socializes with. No problem with that imo.

Do you have to have Eye of the North to access your HoM rewards? True enough I only have the basic 3 points for linking my accounts, but I’d still like the rewards.
I can tell you why this mechanic exists and it’s not the fluffy reason we’ve all been sold on. It’s to prevent power leveling. Since you get full credit for hitting a mob and loot they didn’t want some level 80 character plowing around a low level zone and having a bunch of low level characters gaining experience and loot for the higher level characters loot.
You don’t get credit or exp from any kills you don’t participate in. . . If that lowbie friend didn’t tag it, they don’t get any exp or loot. Admittedly, if they hit it, they get loot and exp equal to their contribution to the fight. Which if their OP level 80 friend was all but one-shot-ing the mobs, wouldn’t be very much. So in all honestly the down-scaling works perfectly by allowing higher level characters to help their friends without blowing away the mobs before their lower level friends can get credit, while still being able to more effectively back them up and survive enough better to pull them through situations the lowbie friend might not survive on their own. It’s really only when the down-scaling takes effect to ridiculous levels, like bringing you down to level 66 to fight level 70 mobs, then it’s like wtf, not cool. xD
Trading post. Buy bags off the trading post. If the bags aren’t cheaper than their component runes, then wait a little longer. There is nothing that actively removes bags from the economy, so they’ll slowly pile up and become worth less than even the rune it costs to make them.
Doubtful, considering it costs the runes and the mats, No one will put them on the TP at a significant loss. That would be ridiculous. They simply wouldn’t make them. Ultimately, the cheapest they are likely to get is the base cost of the runes. Especially since No One wants to make their own, much less buy them at their current prices. If this time ever comes it will be a VERY long ways off.
I’m mostly concerned that this means you will only be able to unlock two or so legendaries per account. As opposed to potentially being able to craft all of them. Also I kind of feel like they should be account bound, especially if you can only get up to 1 or 2 per alt (if that many??) This system does seem designed to punish players who are playing more than one character. It should be ‘punishment’ enough to have to grind up all the mats for however many of the weapons you’re wanting to craft. I mean, the list of requirements isn’t exactly meager.
This gold sink is overkill. Once you get to the higher levels it becomes ludicrous. If you’re not playing the TP you’ll go broke just traveling, it kills almost any and all interest in going to lower level zones once you’ve cleared them for map completion, and even before that. The handful of copper it costs at the start should be sufficient. Bare minimum it should not go up in low level zones. A set price, something below 1 silver, for traveling in each zone and no more than 1.5 silver for travel between zones.
Just Something, because as it stands I don’t want to go Anywhere on my main unless I KNOW I can spend several hours there, and I don’t have time for that right now because I have college and a kid to worry about. I should be able to run out and goof off for 30 minutes and Not have Lost money for the playing. As is, I’d likely loose almost as much or even a bit more than I could make in a half hour of play. In particular assuming I die.
Which brings up the point of repair costs. IMO the way point reviving is already an attrition mechanic, we don’t need TWO. You die when broke, sure you can way point revive, but if your armor is broke, you’re kinda sol at that point.
Already enough gold sinks, dun need this one to be so huge.
Inspect which shows the basic name of the item aka “Conjurer’s Tunic” or what have you, and which allows you to preview the item on yourself would be very nice and I see no reason not to have this feature. Even the full feature, imo, shouldn’t be an issue since elitists can already demand you link your gear.
Also First Person View, and Much Closer 3rd person view, Please!? Thank you! I hate not being able to see things from my character’s perspective or see my character up close enough to see how she actually Looks, like, you know, her FACE. I spent all that time customizing it, I should be able to admire how my handiwork looks framed by that new hood I just picked up.
Good to hear it sounds like it’s just a specific weapon issue. And btw, I do use water, though not exclusively, and it doesn’t seem any more effective than any of my other attunements, at least not particularly so. And my aqua breather and trident are both level 80 items. My hubby plays Warrior and he has similar problems. I admit I haven’t tried other classes under water yet. For ele and warrior though underwater combat is broken and I would like for ANet to fix the issue so that underwater combat isn’t typically fatal when solo.

I’m in favor of eliminating the necessity for going through all the ridiculous loading screens to save the cost of travel To the major cities. If you can get there for free by jumping through a few pointless hoops, why not just skip the middle man and make it free outright?
Agree with the OP, this would be a wonderful fix.
Please please add this for elementalists and engineers too! I am in the "I never use other weapons cause getting them out in my hero pane is too annoying. It covers most of the screen so you can’t see if you get attacked, and it’s time consuming and tedious especially when you consider the fact that for most ele weapons you have two switch in both a main and an offhand, and that one of those can be either and you have to drag and drop if you want to be sure it ends up where you want it. Example, you want to swap from dagger(m) focus(o) to scepter(m) dagger (o). Tedious and needlessly time consuming, especially if you have a favored second set. A toggle weapon sets out of combat ability would be an excellent solution.
The primary reason this is broken is the easy of getting larger bags from pvp. Glory is plentiful, all it takes is a bit of time to rank up.
You can get bags from glory?? How!? * clearly not done much PvP yet *
I also think the rune prices are Much too high. 8 GOLD for -TWO- additional slots? WHAT? Admittedly, they don’t require much else in the way of mats, but I’d rather have to farm more mats than to try to make -10 gold-.
I’m Never going to get 20 slot bags because they’re far too expensive. I’d rather use my gold for other things, like GEMS to buy Bank Tabs and Bag Slots. Much more efficient use of gold. Hell, with -10 gold- I could probably upgrade my bleeding game at this point, or buy, like, 6 character slots, dozens of dye packs, or minis.
Seriously. The price of the 20 slot and even the 18 slot bags needs to be reconsidered.
Another possible approach would be to make all the complicated base ingredients and see if you can make anything with them, rather than trying to find out what you can craft from the basic ingredients.
Edit: Of course, this would probably hurt your bag/bank space! (which cooking totally doesn’t do amirite?)
The only thing that really bothers me is the greets. Which wouldn’t be a problem if either they only greeted once in like 10 minutes, or if I could only hear the greets initiated by myself, rather than every single solitary person who interacts with the vendor, or even if only each person got a greet once in 10 minutes or something. Just something so that it’s not a long chain of “Show me the color of your coin”, “What can I do for you?” and so on. It really does get aggravating.
Strong suggestion for any would be chefs. Guild Wars 2 wiki and Guildhead.com leveling cooking is very complicated since almost none of the recipes require Only basic ingredients, most of them require more complicated ingredients like, salt and pepper, bowl of roux and so on. Another hint, a lot of the basic recipes are not made through discoveries, like salt and pepper for example is one you unlock simply by being high enough level to craft it.
I’m in favor of dueling. Especially with the whole auto-decline feature. Would love to see how I would fare against my friends without interference!
This is mine and my husband’s biggest complaint thus far. Though the list is small, this is a big issue to me. With all the bragging about making underwater combat enjoyable and fun in GW2, ANet, imo, dropped the ball, I still dread under water combat every bit as much as in other games. Not for the same reasons, but possibly even more than the dreaded breath meter. And we’ve finally worked out why.
Mobs underwater hit harder than they do on land, and our own weapons do significantly less. Add to that confusion created by the Z axis and poor underwater depth perception, and without a group, underwater combat typically goes badly.
Please don’t bother replying to this with “L2P”. That’s a useless reaction, there is no reason for mobs to hit as much harder and take as much less damage simply because they’re underwater when adds are incredibly easy to pull in that environment. There are enough hazards with UWC that there’s no reason to mess with damage that way. Honestly hoping it’s just broken right now. At least from an ele and a warrior’s perspective, currently things just don’t seem to be very enjoyable under water.
In short, this is one of the (extremely few) areas in which ANet has not yet lived up to their claims. I sincerely hope that this will be adjusted in the future so that I can embrace underwater combat without the dread I have had for it up till now.
Even just Style would be nice. This would be an excellent pay for with copper/silver feature. Of course, I hope the future will bring full re-customization to the gem store, but hair style (and color wouldn’t be horrible!) should be something we can do in game for a few coin or karma, something…
Account bound gathering tools sounds good to me!
I am in favor of 10 man parties for general PvE and WvW.
There are plenty of places I feel Very powerful with this system, meanwhile other places have very poor scaling. You should not be scaled down to level 63 to fight level 71 mobs for example. And water combat omg. Could underwater abilities do any less damage? Because you know, I love dying all the time underwater to mobs who on land wouldn’t be any harder than any other mob. There doesn’t need to be any burden underwater that isn’t native simply by virtue of the confusion of depth perception and the z axis. Otherwise, I like the scaling system. I think it’s vital to preventing griefing and ensuring that all players in an area are able to participate, as it is there are zones I feel like I’m OP enough that I hurt the lower level players ability to participate in events.
