Thief as a whole is finally in an ok place after being shoved out of the meta since the specialization update last summer, and rather than seek to help d/d be brought up to the level of d/p you’d rather the whole profession be dragged down into the dumpster?

Thief isn’t in an OK place, D/P and staff are, maybe S/D but guess not.
Your set might be in an ok place, thief the class isn’t. So, why has thief been buffed? Right, because all builds were dead. How easy is it to kill D/P the set? Not easy, otherwise it wouldn’t have been the only set halfway viable after June. Those who sticked to this forum are D/P thieves (and me) – so all traits were modified to suit D/P best = even less chance for my set. If you had taken the time and at least read the first 2 pages of this thread – you’d knew where I’m coming from, but instead you chose to act like a

whiny little brat

Considering you yourself just pointed out 3 weapon sets that are viable or somewhat viable(d/p, staff and s/d) and 1 that isn’t (d/d) I will happily stand by my assertion that thief as a whole is in an ok place. (Notice I said “ok” again, not “good” or “great”). Just because your PERSONALLY preferred weapon set isn’t one of the currently viable ones doesn’t mean the class as a whole is in a bad place. Does offhand dagger need a rework? Yes. Could some of the traits use some tweaking? Absolutely. But the way you act you want the whole class to be torn apart and made unplayable until d/d is on par or better than d/p. That’s not either a wise or realistic path to take going forward in my opinion. And again I challenge you, rather than going waaah waaah d/p this and waaah waaah d/p that, trying coming up with an offhand dagger rework that would bring d/d forward

That’s good as this is kind of how it’s meant – wouldn’t you do the same?
Btw: If you knew thief you’d know where the problems lie – and buffing D/D isn’t that easy.
But in the end, truth being told, every time I faced a D/P thief I was rolling my eyes and though “oh my, another noob thief”.

Once again rather than being such a whiny little brat why don’t you take some time to think of things you’d like to see improved within the d/d weapon set

You are right, photoloss approach to explain the issue again, might have been the better approach.

I just didn’t want to explain the issue again and again (e.g. I have done it in the feedback thread).

Gaile should know what moves the community and me it made me really sick when she seems to have no clue what’s going on. That just trigger me

Mesmer is now where thief was basically the entire time since the specialization update last summer until the update last week, so sorry if I don’t give a kitten about you being “broken” for a whopping 6 days, I’m sure you’ll find a way to get over it as all the thief mains did

Pistol aa’s apply bleeds, the pistol stealth attack is a small rapid fire that stacks a lot bleeds, pistol 2 immobilizes and if you run dagger offhand p/d 3 applies torment will also teleporting you away from the target. The problem with running 11k hp, especially after the latest balance patch is that basically any class built slightly for damage will be able to 1-2 hit you. Other thieves, shatter mes, pewpew rangers, DH, rifle warriors will all be able to one shot you without even having to burn big cd’s. Going the other way since you are trying to hybrid you can’t truly burst them back and instead be able.to survive while you bring pressure from both direct damage and condi

Far too low of a health pool to roam in wvw, you’ll be getting one shot left and right, I would personally look at some sort of p/d variant using vipers armor with celestial trinkets. The celestial trinkets will give you more vit and toughness and using p/d is extremely effective at hybrid style (plus you can kite extremely easy)

Calling yourself a “master Lord thief” and your video “one of the best” is quite pretentious, especially considering the rather average if not below average gameplay. Try spending more time collecting footage of a higher quality before worrying about putting out videos

You can be moderately successful using da/cs/trick but you have to play more reserved than with the daredevil variant. Having DD allows you to dodge around like an old s/d acro thief so you can get out of some sticky situations. Running non hot d/p you shouldn’t lose any damage and may even do a bit more with the cs modifiers, you lose a lot of survivability and utility that daredevil gives you

The practice server you joined was probably someones custom arena, so they have admin ability in it and can kick/ban people from their server, use the game browser to get into one of the numbered servers (IE: Server 001) that are the game arenas rather than a players custom arena

I run 2 monk(25 healing, +15% duration) 2 water(25 healing, 15% duration) and 2 traveler runes(10 all stats, +2%critical dmg, +15% duration) as a boon duration set up and i like it more than any other rune set up ive tried. It might not be as bursty as say, divinity runes, but the ability to sustain 20 stacks of might, near perma regen, perma vigor and so on more than makes up for the slight increase in unbuffed damage from a different set for me.

Sigils of the same type share internal CD’s. IE:On Swap sigils, On Crit Sigils, and so on. So you cant run 2 different on swap sigils on one set otherwise the mainhand will cancel out the offhand sigil. I run Sigil of Battle on my mainhand dagger and then force on my offhand

Lag was ridiculous in that BGBL garri fight, got so bad i just buggered off and finished my ruins capping achievement for the seasons, and I was still catching the lag running around the ruins.

You’re better off running with celestial if you can get it, as FrownyClown said, most of the heals in organized group play comes from the blasting of the water fields you drop instead of the spells themselves. When I run staff I run celestial for the crit damage and the all around stat buffs(Valkyrie is a good substitute if you cant get yourself celestial). It ups your damage a solid amount compared to if you ran full clerics, making you more of a utility than just a water field bot. All you really need to do is make sure you have 30 in Water trait line for the reduced CDs and condi clears and all that and at least 20 in Arcane for blasting staff, rest of traits can be tweaked to your liking.

Looking at the map it seems everyone is getting 2v1 tonight.

Everyone gets 2v1d somewhere at somepoint every night, its the nature of a 1v1v1 matchup. They just like to come on here and QQ about the 2v1 being focused on them more because it makes them feel better inside or some psycho-babble bullkitten.

NA and EU champs should dish it out 1v1 after season 1

i support this.

i would like to see the NA champ vs the EU champ

would be very amazing and fun to follow.

I dont think so, as far as Im aware NA servers have better around the clock coverage, so EU server would presumably dominate the EU times, NA→OCX/SEA would be lots of PvD for the NA server.

The league inst split up into 3 leagues of 8 teams?
Thats what it looks like for EU no?
If that holds true then KN isnt going to be in bronze they will be in silver.
1-8 , 9-16 , 17-24.

EU is split into 3 leagues of 9 teams, as there are 27 EU servers. There are only 24 NA servers, and putting 8 servers in a league wouldnt work because there would be a matchup with only 2 servers each week. So NA is broken down like this:
Gold League:Server Rank 1-6(6 servers)
Silver League:Server Rank 7-15(9 servers)
Bronze League:Server Rank 16-24(9 servers)

At the end of this week NSP will be 15(last spot in silver) and Kaineng will be 16(first spot in bronze)

Hammer is still extremely viable, I may give Leg Specialist a spin with it having no CD now, but for the moment my only thing is what to replace Empower Allies with, am thinking about trying running Lung Capacity at 10 and Quick Breathing at 20. With the Shout Heals getting a solid buff it may be worth it to get some more healing power where I can in the trinkets and such to throw out even more heals than I already will.

The 2 condition cleanse with warhorn was a bug that just got fixed, but they threw in a pretty solid buff to shout heals so its not a big hit really. And the empowered allies switch does suck, i dont mind it as i can now run lung capacity and quick breathing together, meaning shorter CD shout heals as well as short cd warhorn skills that is still useful even with the condi cleanse going from 2→1

Had some fantastic fights with TE in SBI bl today and then TE and BEAST in SoR BL. Hope to see you guys out in during the rest of the week for more fights. And that golem rush on SBI hills by Abys and other assorted SBI members was good, you guys almost caught us out there.

Those were some absolutely fantastic and fun fights! We weren’t too worried about the outcome, we just knew we wanted to get some great battles in and work on training some in-battle commanders! What better way than to fight SoR? We won some fights, we lost some fights. All was awesome. Shout outs to our opponents (I saw DIE, TW, and a few others… I’m sorry if I missed you. I was focusing on not dying! Haha) and shout out to our comrades TE, DR, and the others!

Oh, and I say this in the most friendly teasing way (cause lets be honest, we don’t have much in the way of map to brag about), I hope you enjoyed your paper Bay, SoR!

Yea Im from DIE, we had a great time fighting you guys. And to [Abys] you guys put up one hell of a defense of SoR bay. Needless to say the first time we busted through inner we were suprised by the heat in that choke and it took us a few tries to clear all your siege and squeeze you guys out of there. Was a great time, glad you guys have stuck at it throughout the night and hope to run into you guys more this week.

SoR, you are very good practice for us when we go rolling as a guild, but this matchup is downright ridiculous as you seem to have no down time at all.

From what I can see the major guilds of SBI are chilling out doing some PvE or real life stuff at the moment and testing different tactics with you guys when they roll. All day today it seems our BL was defended mostly by pugs.

Anyway very cool fights so far. Fighting you I think made us realize the full potential of our guild (Abyss).

Our downtime is Late Late NA(After all the east coasters log off, where we have only 1 true wvw guild that fields ~20, rest are PUGs they drag around) until the Oceanics start getting on in force. That Pacific Ocean is a doozy when it comes to finding coverage. Apart from BG previously and now JQ its hard to find anyone with decent coverage in that area apart from PST NA staying up super late and Oceanics getting on early. The transition from SEA->EU is usually a little bumpy for us as well as our numbers drop a little when the SEA commanders get off and the EU commanders havent gotten on yet. They may not be noticeable right now because the weekend allows for people to more easily play out of their time zone and bolster numbers.

And for the guy saying someone used eyefinity, that whole cata behind the gate defenses tactic is easily canceled by dropping a sup ac in front of the gate, maneuvering your camera to see through the gap up top. It is easily done without eyefinity. Just because something happens that you dont understand how, doesnt mean its a hack, we may be opening our bag of tricks and letting you get a peek.

Enjoyed the Full Map Blobs from both JQ and BG double teaming us on hills in JQ, wiping them both in the Lords Room, and then having JQQ use their, lets say… “Abilities” to shoot superior arrow carts into the Lords Room.

They were only hitting the entrance from just on the corner literally anyone could do it and it’s been done so many times I wouldn’t complain.

Actually we were being hit on the lower part of the stairs in lords room, not just the entrance and given how far towards the North inner gate their ACs were the should have been able to click that far in the lords room. Also the Golem Hacking on SoR bl tonight is getting a little ridiculous, we dont have that many people that you can take kitten fairly and following the ToS

I for one must say I have enjoyed the past 3 weeks immensely, both Darkhaven and Dragonbrand are tough and worthy opponents. Our WvW population on NSP may not be large but we fight hard and DH and DB gave us intense fights day after day. It’s a shame that we will be dropping down to Tier 6(looks that way at least) but I wish both of you luck in your next match-up and I hope that we will be back up and may meet you guys on the battlefield again in the future. May the last few days of our match-up be fun filled and full of glorious battles.
