Boons [UI] - Color Coded Vignette

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Knightmare Legion.9640

I think it’ll be a good idea to add Color Coded Vignette to the player’s screen whenever we gain a certain boon. This may work great in combat – for example: we get a blue or yellow vignette on our screens to indicated that we have stability or protection and we have more information to see if we should dodge certain attacks or not.

Currently, we have this vignette whenever we are blinded.

Renewed Justice - Tooltip update

Knightmare Legion.9640

I’m aware that the Renewed Justice procs only if you deal the Killing Blow but I think the tooltip details needs to be updated on the conditions for what is considered as “renewed when you kill a foe”

It may also be best to indicate if finishers count as killing blows as well.

Knightmare Legion.9640

With the recent changes made to the Guardian, I think Guards still have the power to overcome some challenges; but, now require more skill to actually use the class.

Although the casting time on Purification is a significant blow to speed and quick 1v1s, having the Meditation Trait line may still be able to balance this, if we can time this right. After doing some calculation and some quick tests, I was still able to heal a wopping sum of >10k heal (with Smite Condition bonus up).

Overall, I still think the healing is still there, but it is distributed elsewhere, and not solely on Purification. Perhaps we may have to heavily rely on other runes like Exuberance? I’ve been using Exuberance lately and it still wins in a lot of 1v1/2v1 fights. Drop some suggestions below if you have any ideas.

As for Shield of Courage, I anticipated this since the previous patch. 1 second reduction time is a heavy toll in matters of reviving allies and finishing off enemies so we won’t be interrupted; but I’m starting to see Merciful Intervention as an option for Support Builds (but to be honest, I just use Judgement’s Intervention on an enemy trying to finish off an ally so I can just knock them back with the Revive Bubble – if they don’t have their stability or blocks up).

I was sort of disappointed with how Shards of Faith was implemented; not because of the number of Aegis drops that was reduced; but because of ridiculous amount of time increased for recharging it. Admit it, that trait has saved our butts more than a few times. Kind of heartbreaking; but there is a way to fix a broken heart… Step 1: Grab some Duct Tape. Step 2: Lie Down. Step 3: Cry.

Kidding aside, I’ve anticipated this change as well. I’ve been testing some builds that require added stability and defensive counters; though, this may nullify the use of Test of Faith. Though Test of Faith has been great at dealing with imbeciles, I prefer using the Fragments of Faith for smarter opponents. In several tries since the recent patch, I found this to be a better option since we have extra symbol damage. You may have the option to use either Longbow or Scepter/Focus as a ranged burst damage; but the question between either weapons have always been about enemy and ally composition.

In addition, having Sword as a main melee DPS weapons is still hands down, the best toy a guard could have ( ?° ?? ?°). But we may also have to be open the option of going torch now instead of solely relying on shield as an off-hand weapon.

Overall, the changes have increased the amount of skill required to play the class. The only thing they nerfed is probably the amount of salt I have to deal with when people go “Oh please, ANET. Nerf Guardian. Guardian OP. Please nerf it any not my class”

I’m curious as to how Signets will now affect the playing field. Please leave some comments if you have any ideas regarding that.

Desertion and Pip Loss after Contribution

in PvP

Posted by: Knightmare Legion.9640

Knightmare Legion.9640

Hi to the Guild Wars 2 Community!

I don’t normally voice out a rant of unfairness but this was recently a load of bullocks when bad things happen to good people. I was playing a fair game of Ranked PvP. I have to hand it in the for the opponents that they were really good. Our team had 250 point lead (the Map was in Legacy of the Foefire). Then all of a sudden, I crashed. I had recently reported this crash in the previous months and was told to do a series of reports for the developers to fix it. After a certain amount of time, I was told that this was a resolution issue integrated with the Guild Wars 2 application. (See attachment for the sample of what crash I’m talking about).

Back to the PvP match, I quickly relogged back in and it was now 356 to around 250 points. We were in the lead but the enemy team had triple cap. My teammates were at the enemy lord, rushing it down to a pulp. When I logged back in the game, an enemy team member was on his merry way to our lord as well. I did my best holding him/her back and it was long enough for our team to handle the enemy lord and get the win…

When we won, we lost 1 pip (each of us) then I did as well. When I got back to the PvP Lobby, I also got a desertion status and a 15-minute time-out. Now, in my books, if I hadn’t have interrupted the enemy opponent into killing our lord, then we would have lost. Knowing that the crash had been reported before and still occurs now, is also disheartening and that I was punished for a something I had reported a long time ago. It is sad to know that this kind of unfairness happened not only to me; but also to my teammates (surprisingly friendly PUGs).

It would have been okay if I had lost the pip alone; but they did not deserve to have suffered for a significant contribution to the win.

Please, rethink the way you do “Desertion” and PIPs, ANet…

PvP Map with Pillars

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Knightmare Legion.9640

Knightmare Legion.9640

There are instances wherein if you get knocked backed into an area in pvp and you get stuck in a pillar, your opponents choose to not kill you; making you unable to contribute for the entire map. If you choose to go to the log-out screen; you will be disrupting the team’s progress. Things like these can be examined in PvP maps like Forest (Blue Home).

Is this a texture issue?

I was playing in PvP on an AI Thief and I realized that Sword 1 on the 3rd combo is reflectable by the thief’s spin. Is the 3rd Combo supposed to be considered a projectile in the first place or was this intended?

I’m running at minimum spec requirements however I’m already crashing at “Best Performance”. Average uptime of only up to 5 minutes and I can barely play any content.

Counter duel rangers

I’ve made several theories in countering them: since WoR usually runs out of time and smart and ethical players would learn to stop attacking the moment they see it go up, I came up with a somewhat more effective solution, but it may take some training and getting used to.

Have Scepter/Torch in your swapped set ready. I’m usually able to counter it and kill Rangers faster, ever since they buffed Torch to a lower cooldown. Your Scepter 3 and your Torch 4 are your best weapons against them. Torch 4 will deal a significant amount of damage for Rangers to burn for the rest of their combat phase.

Make sure they dodge and use up most of their endurance before using your Torch 4 Skill and throw the flames directly at them. To ensure that they dodge out and use their endurance: tease them with Scepter 2. Next, you may do either of which is available:

OPTION 1: Follow up with,
Scepter 3,
Torch 4,
SWAP to GS, (By this time, the immob would be gone)
GS 5, then Pull immediately
GS 2, (By this time they might have endurance up by 40 – 60%)
GS 3 (If you have the time)
SWAP back to Scep./T
REPEAT

OPTION 2: Follow up with,
Scepter 3,
SWAP TO GS,
Run and GS 3
GS 2,
GS 5,
Auto Attack Set, (GS 1, GS 1, GS 1) [It’s okay if you miss, just make sure you’re punishing the ranger for you being able to get close]
SWAP to Scept. / T
Scepter 3.
REPEAT

NOTE:
In both options, ensure you have STAND YOUR GROUND ready so that they won’t be able to knock you back as fast. The moment they’re able to keep distance from you, it might be a game over for you, so always remember to keep close.

You may have the option to follow with OPTION 2 and then OPTION 1 because your cooldowns are short in consideration to the recent buffs on Guardian.
