Been DCd three times in the last 10 minutes waiting for Teq. Other toons having lag/DC issues as well. Should be fun!
So glad I pay for this crap.

I wish they would put in an official word here. On their own forum. But, glad they are aware and working on it.

Same here – can log in and see my toons, but when I click the Play button nothing happens
To reiterate, I was able to access GW2 by bypassing my ISP’s (CenturyLink) DNS servers. No need to use the -assetsrv workaround – I simply hard coded Google’s DNS servers into my network connection. Here are instructions, including Google’s DNS server’s ip addresses, on how to manually set your DNS servers:
Ah ha! Following up – on my Mac I changed my DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and it worked! No need for script.
I’ve been successfully using the -assetsrv workaround on my PC – still no luck with the standard launch process. Anyone know how you would do the assetsrv workaround on a mac?
Any chance SuddenLink is related to CenturyLink; or uses some of their infrastructure? I know there was a post from South Africa where the ISP there was related to CenturyLink.
I have no problem blaming anet for problems – don’t get me started on wvw. But the specificity of the ISP (CenturyLink) leads me to believe the issue is there.
My provider is CenturyLink.
I am in Colorado Springs, CO.I created a batch file (system paths will vary) based on info above so that I could successfully hit the login server directly:
cd c:/
cd Program Files (x86)
cd Guild Wars 2
Gw2-64.exe -assetsrv 174.35.56.164Did that work for you? I’m trying to run my Gw2Setup-64.exe this way (I uninstalled yesterday hoping the reinstall would fix the issue before I learned more about the problem) but it has the same connectivity error for me.
The specific .exe file will depend on your system. I have a buddy that had to use the 32-bit Gw2.exe instead of Gw2-64.exe. Best cure would be for the powers that be to figure out the solution.

I also just got in using the fix:
gw-64.exe with the -assetsrv set to 174.35.56.164
This also worked for me. Guessing there is some type of dns issue then, specific to CenturyLink?
Thanks for the tip!
Put a ticket in with Anet and got a timely response (thanks guys). The log info above matches up with what I got – a 504 error. I also contacted CenturyLink this morning but have not heard back from them. Since most people can log in and the issue seems isolated to CenturyLink users, I’m thinking the issue is somewhere on their side. At least Anet is looking into now. (Let’s go, let’s go – we’re closing in on Friday evening!)
Seems that if it were a gw2 issue it would affect everyone. Since so many having this issue use CenturyLink it would make sense that the issue is on their end. Unless anet is specifically blocking CenturyLink users out – which would be weird. And I totally agree, Anet needs to acknowledge the issue.
Based on another thread, it looks like this issue may be specific to CenturyLink users, particularly in Colorado and the mid-west. I have contacted CenturyLink and been told that they will “expedite” resolving the issue. Again – would be nice to get some response from Anet as well.
I’m contacting CenturyLink at the moment. I don’t expect any immediate resolution from them, but wanted to make them aware.
Still not working after more than 12 hours.
Tried again this morning with no luck. It’s been over 12 hours now and still the same issue everyone else has described. Anet, you there?
I know some players getting in and some not. Now wondering if it’s a dns issue. May just take some time. Would love to hear something from anet.
Still no luck here. Going to restart this system again.
Appreciate the suggestion. I have a friend in a different state that was able to get in. Wonder if it’s something localized here. Seems odd. Anyone else having this issue in Colorado or using CenturyLink?
Tried this as well as an ipconfig renew with no luck. No problems getting anywhere else on the web. Have reset router and tested on two other systems. “Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…” still.
Same thing here – for the past hour or so. “Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…” – tried on three different systems all with the same results.
It happens. If it’s the worst thing that happens to me today, it’ll be a good day.
Same here. On a MacBook Pro. Forum seems very slow as well.
Seems there has been a nearly year-long experiment in wvw. How to match up servers. Group them up here, move these server over here, etc. It ain’t working. 3 servers vs 3 servers vs 3 servers… did not work. 2 servers vs 2 servers vs etc., etc., etc. Thanks anet, but “no”. I like my server. Can you please, please… figure out a way to go back to individual servers? I’ve heard a lot of good ideas from a lot of good players. You do listen to players ($$) right? Sometimes the only time I stick around is for WvW – but lately… you can make this work. A wee bit of time and a lot of listening would help. Seriously, if I’m just whining, fine. I’ll find another game. But, I think there is something here that can work. Listen.
It reset at some point and I was able to run it to completion tonight. Not sure if the bug is fixed, but, if you are lucky, you’ll find the crew on the shore and be able to complete the events.
Yeah, this has been a problem for at least a few days, maybe longer. Those harpies can easily one-shot you. I assume this is a glitch that needs to be fixed.
But… wow – when enough folks get together you can actually take these very high level mobs down. And it’s fun. Yes, very tank-and-spank, but not where you might expect it. So, ANET, you may have stumbled upon something here. Throw up some max (80-82) level mobs in lower level zones every week – different zones of course.
This was more fun than the typical learn-the-crazy-tactics (stand on your left foot, wave your right hand) fight against so many bosses. Just getting enough people in the map to organize and beat down these WAY op mobs was fun.
Still bugged this morning. The four agents are inside the central area waiting to be revived. Can’t get past the invisible door. ACCESS DENIED.
I always thought the loot pouches from dungeon paths were kind of ridiculous. Here’s your 2 silver 15 copper! Oooh – glad you put that in a pouch for me.
Is the term “Berskerker” overused in this game? It’s an attribute, it’s a weapon (that doesn’t have berserker stats), it’s a specialization. It’s all we want to be!
Yeah, we had a couple of spawn point that were far away. Doesn’t sound so bad until you have to do it, right? Again, it just seems very unfriendly to small guilds.
We did it with 5. We tried Lost Precipice and could’nt do it. We then adjusted some builds and played around with our team set up and went straight for Gilded Hollow instead. Instant success.
It’s not always easy for a team of 5, but it is definetly doable. Condition damage felt essential, especially with something than can dish it out as aoe, like an ele/tempest or reaper. If you are struggling, a strong support toon in the party will help keep people buffed and alive.
Sadly, most of my guild has dissipated now, leaving me to mostly fund the hall and occasionally some others log in and contribute, which means the hall is now a very long term work in progress to build up
We got Lost Precipice with 5. I know other people have done it as well. Part of it is just up to luck. We had one maw spawn so far away that we would run out of time just running there.
Thanks Vayne – you are just one of the reasons I like this game. We’ll probably give it another shot. I’m a weirdo in wanting a game to be more fun than challenge. LOL. I should probably go back to Ms PacMan. Thank you so much to everyone that replied!
Hey Vayne. I do appreciate the feedback, truly. I guess my question is if the need to ask for help from another guild makes sense in the game design? If it does, that’s fine. I would just rather do it with my friends. This isn’t international politics. And if the game is about bringing tens or dozens of people together to get things done, fine. It’s simply not what I want to do. That’s totally cool. The good news is that there are plenty of places where you can enjoy this game without needing so much assistance. And, of course, there are other places to go. I think I may have just needed to vent, which I why I started the thread.
When I search the forums I get zero results for “small guild”? Really? So there are no more small guilds? Seriously, have the designers decided that there is simply no place for small guilds in the game? That’s fine, I just wish they’d make it a little more blatant. I have been fairly evangelical about this game for the past three years. And, for the most part, I have stayed in a small guild with friends and family. We’re lucky to have more than five guildies on at one time. But we like that.
So, finally, we decided to work on a guild hall. I’m just speechless. Epic fail is an overstatement, as we did manage to get down at least one maw. But it seems pretty obvious that five average players can’t progress through this phase. And that’s fine. If I suck that bad at the game I should find another game, right?
I complained about it in LA and got some very friendly responses, including the suggestion that we find another guild to help us. And I appreciated that advice, but does it make sense? Should a small guild have to get the help of another guild just to get a guild hall? Again, after three years, maybe I’m playing the wrong game.
Look – I like being in a small guild. But if the direction of the game is to purposefully move away from that, fine. Just make it clear so I can move on.
May be time to break this thread down. All things considered the players in-game are still (generally) friendly. There are always exceptions, just like real life.
Just to back you up, I’ve only (mostly) been working the Verdant Brink and Auric Basin maps, but I get the popup to change maps and I seem to end up in a less populated map. I get it anet – it’s not easy to balance these maps. Tell us that and let us know you are working on it. Otherwise it looks like it makes NO sense. C’mon, we pay for this
Omg – too many questions to answer. I have a life lol. I like Auric Basin. The Verdant Brink is nice, but I’m getting burnt out there. As a few have said before me, they need to work on Dragon’s Stand and Tangled Depths to make them more “solo-able”. And again, the general complaint seems to be that the new areas are in no way solo-able.
I finally rolled a revenant and I’m lost in the Stances. I see Legendary Dwarf Stance. I have no idea what it is or what it means, but I have it. There is a number, 50%, in the middle of some arrows and there is some kind of scale underneath it with pretty icy, glowy stuff. I mouse over it and get nothing. It says I can “Invoke the power of the legendary dwarf King Jalis Ironhammer.” Sounds pretty cool. What does it mean?
I get to leveling – ignoring the “go straight to lvl 20” scrolls that I have accrued because, well, I want to learn the class. Eventually I figure out that I can get another stance. I opt for Legendary Centaur because it sounds kind of defensive. Good, since I’m lazy and I’m running EotM. Now the six slot is blinking at me to choose a heal skill. I see “Ventari’s Will” which looks useful, but I can’t select it and don’t see it in any of the Skills that can be trained.
All I want is to be able to figure this out in-game without searching the internet for everything. I know I’m not the brightest bulb, but what am I missing in-game that would help me understand this class better?

Still bugged today 2/19.
The problem I’ve come across is that people are fighting the maps as much as they are fighting other servers. Not sure I explained that well enough. WvW should be about toons vs toons, not toons vs environment – that would be pve-ish. Love the idea of new maps, but the focus of wvw should be… wvw, right?
Hiya anet. I like wvw because I get to contest areas against other real players. The problem I have with the new maps is that I spend more time fighting the MAP than opposing toons. The new “verticality” looks great, but it doesn’t make the actual wvw experience any better. Help me anet, you’re my only hope.
Same issue here. Started about 20 minutes ago.
Yeah, same issue here. Asura with the aviator cap is twitchy since the latest patch.
I assume this is what all the nomads and clerics have been begging for? Some extreme gimmick boss that negates all of your profession’s attack abilities in favor of some convoluted/bugged gimmick mechanic? The in-game description of this only makes it worse…as it does not even try to describe what needs to be done to damage this thing. Sad that you have to tab out and search the internet for something that actually does damage to this boss. This is not “fun” ANET…in fact…its extremely frustrating and annoying to have to deal with this. If you are going to put stuff like this in the game…put it somewhere where it does not block what little progression there is in this game so far….some open world champion maybe…not blocking living story completion. I know I would have ignored this after the first attempt if I didn’t have to get past it to complete the living story content.
Exactly – what you said, twice!
I’ve been with WHO since early this year and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m not what you would call a “hard-core” player, but this guild has definitely helped me improve my gameplay. Great leadership, advice, organized wvw play and I am always laughing when we’re on TS together.
I had the same issue. The download kept getting stuck at about 600k of 25.8MB – it would timeout and an incomplete .dmg file would end up on my system causing the same error as noted above. It finally worked on the fourth try.
