This is a wonderful gift ANet. Nothing like that lame crap WoW gives like “pets” and “murlocs” nonsense. This armor set looks better than anything I’ve seen in an MMO in a long time, and I would gladly pay money for this.

The best part of all is that it’s free.

I’ve actually seen naysaysers claim this armor is ugly and whatever: please ignore them. Those people are the blight of online MMO communities, and if their “tastes” dictate that an outfit such as this is ugly, their opinion is irrelevant in my eyes. Please don’t allow yourselves to be brought down into their cesspit.

Once again, great job and thank you!

KorbenDallas.6729

It should give a minimum of 2 extra characters slots.

It should give at least 2000 gems, 4000 if you’re a day 1 “veteran”.

The server fees can pay themselves.

The employees can pay themselves.

Doesn’t matter GW2 doesn’t have monthly fees, because “I” spend a LOT of money on optional Gem store purchases.

It should have a free pet.

Gliding, guild halls, new battleground type, new battleground art, complete class overhauls, multiple class specialisations for each class, new class, new zone(s), new monsters, new story are all minor additions that are barely more than a content patch.

On top of that, I am outraged that GW2 expansion costs as much as a WoW expansion, which offers faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar more quality content thanks to its monthly fee and Blizzard’s commitment to quality. It even gives a free copy of GW1 to new players? That’s BS, Blizzard only asks 30$ of new players to get previous expansions, plus you get them in a neat battlechest.

What does ArenaNet gives us? Nothing.

NOTHING.

Signed,
A Loyal Veteran

I want to transfer from Darkhaven (full) to Yak’s Bend (very high), but it costs 1800 whatchumacallits, are there days when it’s ever free to transfer servers?

Also, if I transfer does it transfer all my characters or just one at a time?

You don’t want to spend money yet you don’t have a lot of time to play to earn gold at a more normal rate. Yea, you’re basically screwed by your lack of willingness to do either.

Gems are technically the fastest way yes but I don’t want to pay any more money on MMOs than the box cost itself.

The reason why I want to farm gold at a decent pace is so that by the end of the year I can have enough to convert to gems and buy infinite gathering tools and such from the gem shop. If I was going to invest more money in the game I’d just go ahead and buy those items with money.

Is it possible to make 5-10g/day in about 1-2 hours MAX of game time?

I found that selling Yellow (Rare?) items on the market place gives a lot of silver, so it’s a good idea to farm bosses because those usually drop 1-2 Yellow items, however that’s RNG and you waste a lot of time in pre events and waiting.

Is there a more straightforward way to make 5-10g in 1-2 hours?

I remember when Blizzard, back when they were actually Blizzard, made a zombie invasion event for Wrath of the Lich King. You had zombies running around turning other players into zombies, and it was really scary and exciting and a great break from pointless pre-expansion monotony and build-up for the next expansion.

And then you had all these….“people”…. on the forums complaining as if the world had come to an end because of this little event…because they couldn’t do their “auction house tasks” or whatever pointless inconsequential PVE tasks for 2-3 hours a day for a few days.

How dead are you people inside, complaining about this fun little April Fool’s event? Really. Most of you just sit in Lion’s Arch in excesivelly pornographic costumes doing god knows what.

I would like to let anyone who has this problem know that I have found a solution:

In your graphics option, switch from Full Screen resolution to Windowed Full Screen resolution and this will solve the problem. You can leave all your other settings on max.

You will not lose any FPS. I have 105 FPS while staring in the distance in the same spot with both options.

So I found the issue, and it’s very strange: whenever I have render sampling at anything else than subsampling, I get the artifacts.

Everything else can be on max.

Except this sucks, because subsampling looks horrible.

Will have to investigate further.

Well I never have any problems in other games with my current Nvidia drivers and my installations have always gone flawlessly so I doubt it’s a driver installation problem, but I can try a -repair, although like I said, the textures look fine most of the time, but it’s as if there’s a setting somewhere that shows those lines when i swap zones or alt tab.

Yeah I don’t ever plan to do high level organized stuff, I just log in, have fun, log out. I want to be geared enough to be useful in outdoor boss fights and WvW though and be ready for the expansion.

If Exotic is considered good enough for that I’ll focus on it at max level, and look at Ascended weapon and jewelry as a long term goal.

Thanks for the input!

I know there’s legendaries, ascended gear, epic gear and a bunch of other types of gear in the game. I’m just looking for something to focus on which requires time to acquire, but preferably not RNG. So if I invest 5 hours farming karma to get a piece of gear, I get the karma and buy the piece. Done. No RNG.

I like to do events and outdoor bosses and dungeons in story mode, and WvW PVP ( although I understand stats don’t exactly matter in WvW).

I’m doing these personal story missions omg I’m a guardian stacking vitality, toughness and healing on every piece of gear I’ve got, I have 5 healing spells including my ultimate, I told myself I’ll kill everything slow but at least I won’t die.

Omg you have 5-6 enemies jump on you fear, knockdown, fear, knowckdown, kittens you’re at 20% health pop every heal rinse repeat you’re dead.

What is this? I thought this game was about skill based combat, using dodge to avoid attacks and all that. It’s like I’m playing world of warcraft PVP versus 6 players at the same time. There is no tactic in this game except hope somehow enemies ignore you and fight NPCs then pop all cooldowns, run away, pop all cooldowns, run away.

This also happens in outdoor combat in events, hearts etc. Combat needs BALANCE.

Man, I was going to reply nicely but after seeing your responses to others I’m not so sure.

People always say their experienced and this and that yada yada yada and always the ones with problems how to do things. Frankly, I think the others were right and it’s a case of you learning, though I personally hate the L2P response as it doesn’t help people but jumping down his throat for giving advice isn’t the way to go either.

I’ve played pretty much every sub based and buy to play MMO out there except for ESO and Archeage (which I think is F2P anyway) and in every MMO I’ve always kitted myself out for maximum damage. Logically it might sound like going full defensive is the way to stay alive, but in actuality, it’s far from it. Taking tank-like builds are best for group work, when you have some DPS or healer, but solo it’s just pointless.

Sure, you can argue how you take little damage etc etc etc…but here we see, this just isn’t the case, since it’s NOT working out for you. Mobs take longer to kill you sure, but you also take longer for them to kill you, and they just end up whittling down your health pool as you put your abilities on cooldown and slowly chip away at their health.

The same old saying that offence is the best form of defence is true, the only MMO I can think that really suits going tank mode is Warcraft, because tanks still have ridiculous damage, especially AoE. It’s a game designed for children and very little thought process. In Eve online I can take my tanky-as-hell Gallente battleship and end up dying in a mission because it took too long to kill kitten or, I can take my paper thin minny autocannon fast but close range battleship and blitz through the mission 10x faster and 10x safer because kitten just dies so I don’t need to tank it. In wildstar I can destroy things with my DPS warrior / Slinger and use my mobility and utility, while kiting and never taking any damage and killing 10 mobs at a time, or go tank / healer and have MORE chance of dying (not that I do really) and certainly take a ton longer to kill. I can use the same example for every MMO really, except maybe warcraft but as said, that’s designed specifically for lack of braincells. Hell, that game even rewards bad players.

In GW’s I’ve gone pure power+precision+ferocity and kill the mobs so fast they pose little to no threat.

The game isn’t hard and the guy was right, it really is a player issue and as hard as that may be for you to accept if you won’t take peoples advice I don’t really get why you posted that.

Besides, I’m personally SICK of games that handhold and developers REALLY need to stop listening to players who complain about it’s difficulty because games have become so bland and generic lately, especially MMO’s. I exclude this, wildstar and eve because eve’s probably the most brutal out there, WS tries to use difficulty as it’s selling point and this has little in common combat wise with other MMO’s.

My responses to others? I only have 3 replies, one which is a thank you, one is a neutral response explaining what I was accused for, and one was sarcasm for sarcasm. I swear, I thought this community was all right, but a lot of you are just horrible people, jesus christ. I’ve never been accused so many times of being a troll in all my life as I was in the first page of this thread.

To those of you who gave me tips, thanks, to the rest of you, if I wanted patronizing forums thumbs uppers I would have stayed with WoW.

Hey….I guessed right.

You didn’t really ask for help in your OP….you just whined about how you couldn’t play this game like WoW and how idiotic this game was because of that. You also complained about completely misunderstanding the term “skill based combat”, but I guess that’s understandable (but it IS kind of funny….seeing how WoW combat IS all about activating your dozens of skills while basically you stand still).

All that aside, if you are willing to learn to play combat differently than in WoW, everyone here wants to help you. If you just want to complain about how GW2 combat is lame compared to WoW and it should be changed to be like WoW, then yor not going to get a lot of sympathetic ears. Your choice.

Wow, bashing me with pointless sarcasm wasn’t enough, you have to make a post insulting everything I know about video games just cause I played WoW? Were you waiting for an opportunity like this or what?

There’s people in here who legitimately offered me advice, which I thanked them for, you just offered flame bait and now you’re pretending like you’re a martyr?

The combat requires SKILL (such as dodging and damage avoidance via weapon and utility skills), not that the combat is based on your SKILL bar and you can stand still and not die.

I think I can guess the MMO you played recently….

Learn to play. As a guardian you have access to stabilities to keep from getting knocked down. You have Aegis, both from your Virtue and Retreat (if you choose to use it) to protect you. You have condi cleanses. You have an elite that lets you go invulnerable. You also have the ability to dodge. You also have a brain to work out when you need to disengage, where you need to stand to avoid over-agroing other mobs around you, and when to use your dodges/invuls/everything else.

Seriously. Take some time, change your skills, make sure you have gear within 10 levels of your character’s level, and keep trying until you find something to do that works.

This is ridiculous, I’m not an mmo newbie, I understand how aggro and mechanics work. My gear is all lvl 63+ and I’m doing a lvl 70 personal story. Every one of my abilities and traits is defense related, nothing is offensive compared to other choices I could pick. I have either healing abilities with damage or healing abilities with effect cleansing capabilities and defensive traits related to Aegis, healing or other.

I’m not talking about incompetence, I’m talking about being in a fight and reaching a point not even 30 seconds into the fight where you’ve been forced to use everything and you’re out of options because enemies swarm you, regardless of whether you engaged them or not.

I shouldn’t have to play late 90s trial and error 5 times with a simple personal mission just to discover the quirks in the AI I can exploit in every combat situation so as to avoid them massacring me. I have never encountered such unbalance in what should be soloable PVE combat in any previous MMO – ever.

The tragic thing is that this game has plenty of balanced – and difficult – combat, but there’s so many situations where you’re just like WTF?

Even if I move they’re still there. If I move close to them some of them dissapear, but as soon as I get far away again they reappear. It’s only if I do the VSync check on/off thing that all of them get fixed permanently (until I switch zones).

Either way, it shouldn’t do this because my LOD is set to Ultra. I have streaming files set to MAX and even have texture cache turned on from the Nvidia control panel, and the game itself should have a texture cache from which to load.

This is either a bug or very bad programming.

I see these weird black lines over textures in game when I log in and when I switch zones. I can make them dissapear by going in the graphics option and turning VSync on and off because that reloads the UI I think, but I’d like to find a way to no longer have them.

Just to be clear VSync is not causing this. I can have it on and this happens, or I can have it off and it happens, I just toggle it between on and off to reload my UI and make the black lines dissapear.

I’m only lvl 20 but it feels impossible to win fights as mesmer when you get attack by more than 3 enemies, and even that is a challenge. I have 4 spells that summon illusions, I use them all, a heal that heals me the more illusions I have, one of them even splits my damage taken by 50%, but I don’t know, it’s like my hp is butter on the sun.

I tried burning down things or shattering illusions to daze them instead, my pistol has a bullet that stuns and dazes 3 targets, but this class is tough man. I have previous experience on Guardian and other MMOs but playing Mesmer I feel like a total noob.
