I thought as much, but had never tested it. We have a few abilities that break immobilize that do not mention in the tool tip, so I am glad I asked. Thanks for the information Kordwar.
No problem, it happened to me the other day. I went to jump and was bola’d as my feet were leaving the ground, then I dropped like a stone.
All in all I adore acid bomb. Once you master a quick 180 into acid bomb and turn as you hit the ground you can escape most things if you have a slight lead on them. Preface to that last sentence: I played a hunter in WoW for five or six years, so I used to abuse disengage exactly the same way.
Flamethrower right now is kind of bugged. It can miss targets often with no clear indication as to why.

Hopefully this is will help you out.
Has anyone tried to see if this ability breaks immobilize? I need to test this and see if it is one of the movement skills that does, by chance.
You’ll use the cooldown and still be snared. You can also be stopped mid jump by an immobilize or have your jump cut in half if you have a cripple on you.
Glad I could be of help.
I’ll normally smoke vent with the flame thrower then swap to pistol/shield and line up the stun for their opener, if they don’t open during that window I typically switch to tool belt and get ready to use the gear shield.
Video has been reuploaded with a more clear first segment. Terribly sorry for the mess up.
for the record: you had a few misses yourself even with pointing at the enemy (0:49 for example).
unless the player is not plain stupid, every1 should know that u actualy have to look at the mob. this is the same for all weapons.
problem is that once the mob got out of your cone and behind you somehow, the following attacks wills till miss. extremly annoying in PvP.but, thx alot for the air blast tip. i didnt knew it can reverse spells.
I missed a few times when the mob would run through me, I will admit that. It’s not so much people aren’t looking at the mob, it’s that that camera isn’t looking at it correctly. The point I’m trying to make is that you can strafe and still hit 95% of the time, it misses due to people not moving the camera as they strafe, the same applies to the poison dart volley.
Recorded the audio while filming, for some reason the in game sounds are magnified 10x that what it sounds like normally for me. I’ll re-record the first segment in the morning and turn my in game sound waaaay down

I made this video to help explain how a couple aspects of the flamethrower work
I’ve been reading a lot of concerns about how the flamethrower always misses and wanted to shed some light on the subject.
Enjoy!

I like the play style of the engineer as it stands. I’m constantly kit swapping to take full advantage of the versatility of the profession.
Three.
Toolkit, flamethrower and Elixer gun. Any utility skill that only has two total uses is a waste of a slot in my personal opinion.
And people thought I was crazy about my character screaming all the time. He’s been nicknamed “Captain shattered ankles”
Closest thing to an Orc
Would it be possible to allow us to put our guild logo on our kit backpacks? If we could put it on that little hanging cloth it would be perfect.
Misses to much. If the fix that it would be my fav.
You just need to find the sweet spot for pretty much everything when it comes to the flame thrower. For keep gates it always seems to be directly in front of the portal. Mouse angle also seems to have some sway over it as well.

This is mine, mostly WvW based but it works well in sPvP as well. Built for group assaults but can still 1v1 against just about every class due to the high survivability.
