screw the firegrab, that 2.5k flamestrike!
That awkward moment when your 3 options are skyhammer, spirit watch and courtyard. None of the above please?
If you like this stuff there’s weekly tournaments for both EU and NA which are a lot of fun. Hopefully after this tourney more teams will enter the weekly’s too!
http://mistpedia.net/ shows the dates of upcoming tournaments (bottom left).
what about 5/0/0/3/6? Get the extra heal from water and the 10% vs burning and since the enemy is constantly burning it should do something good.
I’ve done the last 2 daily’s in pvp only. Remember you can level up with tomes of knowledge and salvage gear from reward tracks(those are things I had to actively do outside of just playing).
I am keeping an eye on it for the same reason you bring up. I’m hoping they kept mono players in mind when changing the daily.
I’ve been playing this build for the last few hours, it’s really good! Thanks for sharing, best one I played since patch. And thats coming from someone who barely knows the d/f skillset.
Why did they do that
it had a chance they could have just did it like evasive arcana.
I agree, if it was per attunement it may be useable but as is…. meh
It’s global. I tested it against mists npc’s.
I would test it again after the patch especially the second bug. Cleansing water has a cd so you wont be able to proc 2 regens to remove 2 condi’s but after the patch later today that cd is being removed.
You could us some more health, you’d be screwed vs condi and even though you have 3100 armour that 11k health makes it not matter.
Also no active sigil? Could probably drop accuracy for doom if you’re going condi, the only access to poison for ele.
Why no signet heal with written in stone, why arcane brilliance if going condi?
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?vEAQJAoYnMISPDW2A+NAdEGAGPEZESEFeo8InZsB-TsAAzCpIsRZjzGjNSbs2ME4YwkAA
I made some changes but I still dont really think it’d work. I swapped arcane brilliance for signet heal although with rock solid ether renewal would work just fine. I changed signet of fire with cleansing fire although any signet or glyph of ele power would be fine.
What do you think?
Holy kitten nice video man. I didnt know the burst d/d was capable of until now. You literally do twice as much damage I do heh. I would like to see some tournament footage of this kinda build!
Holt kitten, this is amazing.
Hah! That’s hilarious when comparing it to gw2. Unintended genius xD.
We can’t support GW1 style observer mode and recordings yet due to the fact we use Havok. The simulations are not deterministic so we have to figure out a way around that first. Basically, its way harder to do in GW2 than GW1.
Hold on. After the experience gained from gw1 that had this feature and how good it was for the competitive playerbase. You (whoever decided on the engine) knew exactly what you wanted from the pvp and exactly where the pvp wanted to go (esports), decided to choose an engine that couldnt support a feature like delayed spectator mode??
Who the kitten made that mistake?
Oh wait I know why this happened – money A.K.A PvE.
kitten it man, just kitten it.
EDIT: It’s things like this that prove how tacked on pvp was. How so many people dismissed gw2 pvp as an esport because it was an MMO. I know it’s not the pvp devs fault but kitten this coulda been great and time and time again it’s proven that money wins.

In gw1 it had a delay, so it can’t be abused like that.
I’m super rusty after a 6 month break and since my old guild has all moved on to other, less awsome, games, I’m looking for a new one and you guys sound interesting.
I play mainly ele but dabble in necro and engi. I should be available to play most nights but sometimes kitten happens :P.
I’m terrified of power block.
I like the idea personally. It would be kinda like mesmer sword 2, you still have ways to land it and it will still be a strong down cleave. You can use it defensively and offensively which is always good. You can still interrupt with headshot.
Would like to see it in practice though.
I cant see creating a barrier to entry as a good thing. The only thing I can imagine being good is trying to create more investment into a character to try to retain players.
Can’t say I’m happy about the ‘everything unlocked’ or ‘level playing field’ being thrown away though.
Old players will probably jump in, see that they need to unlock stuff to experience anything new and log out.
I will use elemental contingency over evasive arcana, as long as each attunement has a seperate cd.
I think it was to reduce the aggressiveness of players who hate losing. Like in moba’s you make one mistake and you’re eaten alive.
I think it kinda backfired and made everyone ‘meh’ about it haha.
I always wondered why there was such a kitten for rewards and stuff. I miss the good old days when you played for fun, for competition, for self improvement.
OP, you’re right. Older games had no ingame rewards/incentive.
To be honest, I’m really surprised gw2 pvp failed. It’s wonderful to play. I guess it was the lack of tools for the community to create the competitive side, like other games had or got through modding. Shame MMO’s arent moddable. That may have been a saving grace.
There’s still a chance for gw2 to take off as an esport, really there is, cause all you need is a solid game and a community built up around it. Then the right person needs to step in and boom.
After having about a year break, it’s good to see gw2 still coming along. It’s slow but it’s still going, games competition keeps going for years. How many old games are still played competitively? No reason why gw2 can’t be one of them. Even if it’s scene is on the small side.
Map veto’s are in order I think. I want kittenhammer in for those who like it but I really do not like it. When I get back to playing the game I will afk every single kittenhammer game.
My interest level in this tournament just went down a notch.
And I thought I was bad at handling humour…
in usa every threat (even if joking) on the internet is taken very seriously. a few days ago i read on the news that some fan of some artist that has a song called “time bomb” (or something), wrote on facebook “ready to take my time bomb to the show” and he was banned from that show so…
kitten it man, I wanted to see TP vs Den at pax, that woulda been amazing. Guess I gotta wait til next time. :/

Isn’t this the definition of attrition?
Perfectly match the Necromancer description (finally).
This is a very valid point.
Is their damage too high for attrition and for how easy it is to apply though? I cant be the judge. I feel like all condi damage builds should be pressure damage and not a way to actually kill someone (obviously need to eventually in smaller fights).
Maybe replace terror or burning with a trait that heals the necro based on a percentage of condi damage dealt. That way they lose damage but gain sustain and still have decent pressure damage.
It’s a tough balance, I dont envy the devs.
One thing to also remember is that sure another profession can do higher damage in shorter time but once the burst is done it can be very risky to stick around. Necro is quite bulky especially with this latest patch and their damage never stops unlike burst classes which drops drastically and becomes more risky (soon as you burst people can switch to you and melt you rather instantly).
You can argue that burst classes can kill quicker and have tools to evade/invun damage but necro’s damage never stops and its so high with less risk as its 900 range as opposed to melee.
Also a lot of people seem to be forgetting weakness. Weakness reduces crits far too much imo, 1.7k crit should not turn into 400 damage.
Deathshroud replacing vigour, blocks, invuns and other defensives is a valid point, however, for the damage a necro does (now) it needs to also be vulnerable.
I feel like a lot of people missed the pre-patch tests. The same burst vs the same necro build took 90% deathshroud away. This post shows how it compares pre and post patch, also bare in mind this is without weakness. Those 1.7k crits get turned into 400 damage glances and 3k hit get turned into, what, 800 damage?
I think the issue here is how necro’s were reasonably bulky before but now they are a hell of a lot tougher. Now consider how much damage they put out and how long it takes to down them, especially now. This is where the worry is. They lack escape and sustain (unless stacked with condi’s then full heal :P) so maybe its balanced that way.
I’m in no place to judge if this is OP or not, the damage is not instant like thief or ele but they wont die instantly and they have range (sure thief and ele do but its a ton lower damage than if they melee). In a teamfight if you dont own the point you have to over extend to get the necro and in a smaller fight it can take so long to down it (now imagine theres an ele or thief along side the necro).
Lots of aggression, not many people found this funny like me?
Markilicious, om nom nom.
Wish I was recording. I had one of those moments where I had multiple bleeds on me and woulda killed me with water on cd, I was in fire and used phoenix to clear the bleeds, was left at just over 40 hp.
I liked it simply because it was of those rare moments where I remembered that phoenix clears condi’s and during a panic situation at that.
Does that count as the same feeling? :P
I’m guilty of not communicating in yoloQ. I mean if I felt like talking I would join a pug group rather than join solo. I prefer to just adapt to the situation based on what my team does and what the other team does and do I what believe will contribute to a win.
If someone else speaks up I might say something but otherwise I wont start a talk. It was worse back when bunker ele was popular and I ran dps, people expected me to do things I couldnt do heh.
I do chuckle a bit when someone complains about always being outnumbered yet runs out alone when 2-3 of his teammates are dead. Like “I’m always 3v1 why cant you get any other point” well durr we’re dead so the other team can just over commit to you.
Map needs to be removed from rotation. Otherwise people will get bored of no pvp for multiple days straight while that kitten clogs up the tournaments.
Change the instakill when you fall to a warp to spawn. And fix the cannon, then were talking.
You are insane for liking this map.
Ok I been convinced to try the map again. I run ele so I’m going to run arcane shield, armour of earth and blink. Traits include rock solid (stab on earth), armour of earth proc and runes of the sanctuary (stab at 20% hp).
Not running tornado because I dont believe in that bs play. I’ll spend all game hugging walls and eating damage because I’m staying next to my safety wall.
Yeah whoever thought this map was a good idea is a freakin joker.
Yay instakill mechanics, people love those!
Hate this bs map, one match was enough.
Jump pads were hell in dragonball, if they are the same in sky hammer then I will not enjoy rubberbanding all over the place.
Also being knocked back and instantly dying off the edge? Not looking forward to this.
My current fresh air build uses signet of restoration heal and signet of fire (which gives me 38% crit chance before fury).
I’ve also tried to make this work – http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-k33;2B2-Y0-5wM-Z0;9;59T-T;10;019B;145ALJ;4sV2DsV2D5kY
The idea is quite decent damage traded for sustain. Bare in mind that you can heal on cd and maintain the passive. You can immobilise often in earth and chain it with the signet for 5s immob. You have a bunch of other low cd cc’s too.
It works best tagging along with someone else who can help sustain you. Obviously it was way better pre-patch but I havent really looked into a post-patch revamp since I got addicted to fresh air.
I love the ele changes myself, I mainly play spvp with it and the fresh air buff sent my playstyle through the roof!
I think the weakness of the class is aimed at pve, maybe wvw (for large scale stuff, small scale is probably fine).
I think the core of the issue is simply how required arcana is, and partly the low hp requiring you to pick up health somewhere which is usually water traits (which gives you healing).
I used to try less than 30 arcana builds but I recently gave up, its simply too huge a kitten to have less than 30. Fire has weak traits but moreso weak stats, compared to air which has crit chance and crit damage in the same tree along with amazing damage traits, why would you spec anything else for damage?
Slow phoenix was my favourite skill but now its fast it doesnt feel as good.
So now I’d say Lightning Flash, useful in so many situations. Feels good to pull off various LF maneuvers.
I noticed it changed. It used to be placed instantly and then have 2s aftercast while I do air skills. Now though it has a 1s cast (feels a lot longer) and interrupts at the slightest disturbance, like if I start casting it then go into air and use instant skills it wont go off.
I mean its rare to use it but at least before I could make use of it in very few situations, now I dont think I can use it at all.
I think its good to consider that if its a stunbreak its probably instant cast now, less downtime.
Also if I compare it to lightning flash currently, you can use LF offensively to land CC or a churn, you can use it for mobility to travel around the map faster or you can use it to escape a bad situation. GoEP can still be used offensively but now you get the choice to save it for the stunbreak, if you are in water or earth you also get a snare effect on AoE’s as you kite.
It’s a decision just like LF is, if you know you’re entering a fight where you’re the main target then you want to save GoEP for defence, if you’re entering a fight where you dont need it defensively you can use it to nail your target.
Just some of my thoughts.
Only time I really use shatterstone is when air is off cd and there is potential for it to hit (like on a downed target. cc’d target or someone who’s on top of me a la s/d thief), switch to air and you really dont feel the aftercast.
But its so rare that this situation arises.
I really hope Lightning Flash retains its stun break…
I’m just glad phoenix doesnt cancel dodges while eating endurance anymore. Appreciate the small things :P
Never get hopes up, never expect much.
Sure, I can get on board. I originally liked the idea of slow and steady but I think that only really works when the game already has many options.
I think its time to make things interesting, can always re-adjust a couple weeks after changes go wrong. Once there are more options available then we can slow down again.
Dude, flying ele’s, I’m sold.
it had a chance they could have just did it like evasive arcana.
