Well, the reason why I chose those sigils is because I was trying to focus on power/condi so I was gonna rely on sigil swaps for boosts since my crit was in the toilet. I switched because I was tanking things, but wasn’t doing any damage.
I’ll run sinister for a bit and make some adjustments to my sigils. I’ll read over your thread as well then post back. Thanks!
So I posted another thread a while back when I was brand new to the class and was getting tossed around. Now that I’ve had some more experience I am doing much better in pvp. I’d say around 75% of my fights are being won now (which I’m very happy with compared to what I was doing) but I’ve run into a new set of problems.
Here’s my current setup, perhaps you can help me find flaws.

I’ve found out that in 1v1 servers where people test builds, I don’t do so well. Thieves are downing me in less than 6 seconds, some warriors simply don’t die no matter how many people are on them (still cant figure that one out) and Dragonhunters are seemingly impervious to damage. Depending on who I’m going against, I either:
A. Lose health too quickly
or
B. Cannot provide enough condi pressure/raw power to down someone.
I’ve swapped through multiple runes/amulets/traits to find that happy medium of defense and power. Sometimes it will work wonderfully then I’ll get curb stomped by a few people lol. I’ve ran both CI and RR, each have their ups and downs. I’ve been making other toons to study various other builds which has helped a lot.
Could any experienced warriors point me in the right direction on which builds tend to do the best power/dont die in 3 seconds? Or is this simply a matter or practice and I’m getting outclassed?
Absolutely not. Patron memberships are a plague that needs to die in video games. Every single game I’ve ever played that had this type of membership ended up with a P2p and F2p gap that couldn’t be repaired. Anet has crafted a Gem store that is wonderfully balanced. I don’t mean to come off as rude, but this is something I simply cannot agree with. I’ve taken no issue with sporadic purchases – if there’s nothing to buy in the store that I like, I’ll just convert some to gold when I’m running low to help support.
Please for the love of god add Bat Wings
I still did them even with the low rewards simply because they’re fun. So yeah, in my opinion they’re worth doing for achievements / getting to chat with other players.
I think dueling in PvE is pretty harmless but as everyone else has pointed out, we have designated areas for any type of PvP. That being said, I would most certainly be open to the idea of duels. But staking? Absolutely not. It attracts a crowd of people that like to gamble and some of them take it entirely too far.
As simple as that, really I suggest to add a consumable option to the Gift of Exploration. The character which consumes it has the entire map unlocked – waypoints, POIs, vistas, hearts and all – but can then no longer earn Map or World Completion achievements.
This would allow players to unlock the whole map for an alt without having to travel everywhere and do everything again. The cost: you obviously need to do World Completion the old fashioned way first, and you no longer have the Gift to make a Legendary.
What do you think?
I like the casual nature of this game, that being said I think this suggestion is completely over the top.
I’d much rather see a fishing skill implemented than a skinning skill. Leather-like mats drop everywhere already so there’s no sense in wasting time creating skill to do just that.
I do like the skill in WoW, but I don’t think it will be worth having here.
It seems fine to me, I’m honestly surprised to see that people are hounding you about it. Gw2 is among the better communities I’ve been a part of (given the rest of the internet I suppose that’s not saying much).
That was 100x better. Though I still I have a long way to go. I did run a sword/shield combo, but just switched to an axe/shield for vulnerability and blocks. Using a hammer also goes a really long way. I did have defense and discipline as well, but never thought to use the burst skill bonuses those specs offer. All in all everything went much smoother. I suppose I’ll keep practicing and wait on a patch. I’m looking at the berzerker spec tree as we speak.
Thanks for the help!
That puts things into perspective for me! It’s kinda sad that they are considered the worst right now because I have so much fun with it in PvE. I just recently purchased HoT so I will definitely look into the Berzerker build you mentioned.
I’ll start making the adjustments you recommended and give some feedback once I go several rounds with the new build(s). If there’s any other suggestions you, or anyone else can give I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks!
One thing I wanna ask just to clarify, because I noticed you said you were new and you changed your armor to see if it helped. You realize in pvp your armor, amulets, etc don’t matter and all your stats come from your pvp amulet right? Same goes for your runes and sigils, pvp doesn’t use the ones on your armor it uses the ones set up in the pvp build panel which if you haven’t used it could be anything, this could be a large part of your problem if so.
Oh…. yeah I had no idea. I thought my armor was included… that’s actually kinda strange, and embarrassing xD. I have been switching my amulet/runes/sigils through that panel however, I just didn’t know armor didn’t count.

So to start off, I wanna say I’m a fresh level 80 (about 2 weeks) and I decided to give PvP a try. Before I did that I looked at probably 50+ builds to see how other people were doing. The problem I seem to be having is that I lack any sort of defense against various players, it seems even worse when dealing with Necromancers or Mesmars who constantly throw CC’s on me.
Thieves, Guardians and other melee based classes I seem to fair pretty well against however. I’ll go ahead and post my build that I’m using as of now (please note I’ve tried 10’s of combinations before this, it’s also not set in stone, just another test).
I’m using the Braham’s armor set with a full set of strength runes and jewels that are enchanted with power/precision/ferocity (in that order of importance)
I’ve tried switching to sets like the Soldier’s armor then just using the strength runes for my power/might duration, and it didn’t seem to help much. I’ve swapped to every weapon combination I can think of so I would either have more leaps to keep up with people, or blocks to reflect missiles, ect. I just cant seem to find the right set of skills/gear. I’ve tried leeching health, or upping my health regeneration, buffing toughness, condition removal (what little I could find), ect.
Of course I realize I’m probably a total peon in PvP, but I figure starting with the right items then practicing would help tons, but I don’t seem to have either the skill or the items lol. I’ve read a bunch of threads stating Warriors simply aren’t PvP worthy right now, which I tend to ignore due to my past experience with those posts in other games. But if that’s true… then I guess I’m outta luck.
Anyways, long post is over – could anyone shed some light for me?
I wouldn’t stand behind crowd funding. I would very much be open to some type of polling system where players can vote on which ideas selected by Anet should receive priority.
Old School Runescape does this, although it’s far from perfect, it is very community friendly and stimulates other ideas/feedback on existing features.
I haven’t found the home instance to be much of use quite honestly. It’s a nice little area and with some improvements (such as being able to change the theme of it and adding decorations plus NPC’s so you can add a trading post and such) it could be a useful part of the game. Some of us like creating things when we’re not chopping up mobs and doing events.
I wouldn’t expect it to be a high priority, but some consideration would be nice :P
