If you are aware of the fact that WvW is CPU demanding then I don’t understand your question. Basically your GPU (video card) is just sitting there waiting for data/command from the CPU, but since the processor is really really busy calculating everything it cant send enough. The GPU can’t create 60 frame per second even if it would be capable of, when your CPU only send request for 22. It is only an example, a basic one.

Campus network can be a problem, you may try to use a VPN or protected connection, so your campus’ network won’t know what are you about to do, and it won;t be able to block the connection.
Just google VPN, the companies who provide these usually have a 1-2 hour trial period, so you can check if that is the source of the problem or not. If it is, then you can rent this service from nothing and enjoy the game.
This is the real disadvantage of a notebook. It simply overheats by the game, and the notebook tones down the performance of the cpu and gpu to prevent any damage. The 30 fps cap can be really useful, because it will stop your laptop work like crazy and produce that much heat. Or you can also try to by an extra cooling pad for better airflow and cooler back plate, it will help a lot.
Force the nvidia gpu, because it can happen that the game runs on the integrated one instead of the more powerful nvidia chip. For this, right click on the games icon and you will see an option on the top to run the game on a selected graphical processor, then select the nvidia one.
If it helps, then go to the nvidia control panel, Manage 3D settings, then on the programs tab set GW2 to always run on the nvidia gpu, so you won’t have to do the first thing all the time.

Ok, “good” to hear that I’m not alone, but all of us use a sound card other then the integrated crap. I’ll try to do the thing Yeti said, but if I have to sacrifice the sound quality then I’ll be a bit disappointed.
I would really appreciate a technical answer from the support team, maybe I can tweak something.
The build type really depends on your weapon choice and your play style. There is no cookie cutter build tho. I used short bow, all the way to level 80, because I love the fast paced, and mobility aspect of it, the dmg is decent also. The traits were power and precision mainly. If you level up and you have a general idea about how to avoid getting hits by mobs you don’t have to focus on defensive stuff. Just kite and nuke everything.
About the armor, idk if there is anything special for level 20, maybe a crafted medium armor, but you will be fine with the gear you get from karma vendors. Just buy those stuff.

I have exactly the same build you are about to upgrade, I WvW fps can go as low as 25-30 in really heavy situations. I use FullHD res with no AA, medium shadows, and other stuff maxed out. I’m really sensitive on the FPS, but I got use to 30 it is not perfect but playable and it only occurs when you have like 100 player on your screen and everyone is shooting each other. If they are just running not shooting then there is no lagg whatsoever. I think that the processor calculates the projectiles, like arrows, how they fly, they will hit or not, stuff like that. It kills the game easily.
You have to remap those keys in windows, just google for it because I don’t know which program is the best for it. Or it can be possible that there is an utility for your laptop that can switch those functions.

It sounds like you have a beep code to look up. Try checking your MB manual for beep codes and it should tell you what it means..
You got me wrong, this is not the motherboard but the game. Now I changed the audio settings in the game, form “low latency” to “more stabel”. The sound bug is still there, but at least the game not crashes, so I can play with that weird sound in the background. Only the game sound goes mad, if I mute the game once it happens, I can play music or whatever I want.
I also found a video on youtube, this is exactly how it sounds for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbdEc1sldQ8
I have an Asus Xonar soundcard, maybe that is the source of the problem, but since it works well with other games and programs I think that the GW programmers should know about this issue, even if it only effect a few players.
Wowowooo slow down boy… 4 freaking GPUs and 2 FPS in WvW? I got a “weak” 660ti compared to that beast and it is never drops below 30 even in massive crowds.
You sir did something really wrong with that machine.
Pretty much yeah, forge 4 exo shortbows longbows and you will have the highest chance imo.
Edit.

Bear for tanking because of the high vitality, I use the brown one, because it has the condition removal ability, what can be useful. The other depends on the situation, but by default that is a Lynx because of the high damage output.
In WvW I use 2 bears in avoid combat mode, and “Protect me” utility to get that 6 second dmg absorb.
I don’t need extra speed because I can slow my enemy down to a level where they have no chance to escape.

This is the third time today that this game crash happened to me, the whole thing started yesterday so maybe there was something wrong with yesterdays patch. I played 100 hours of WvW before yesterday without a single issue whatsoever.
The issue is: In every 2-3 hours especially in massive fights, and when we break gates, so there are a lot of sounds and effects on the screen the sound goes silent and I only heal constant beeping. Right after this, the game crashes, I get the report tool, and that’s it.

You are seeing low GPU usage because something else in your computer is bottlenecking, most likely your CPU.
This! But we can agree that something is going wrong when you see a lot of players, idk if it is the animation or the physics I’m not an expert.
What low FPS and no answers is doing to me.

So the lesson is: If you have low fps, go and buy Darksiders 2 then make sure to post all this at the forums to make any other player laugh. So brilliant.
I would rather stop buying other games, and save up the money to upgrade my PC to be able to run GW2 smoothly, what is not a bog deal to be honest.
