GW2 blackscreen GW2.exe won't shut down

GW2 gets stuck at ‘Guild Wars 2(Not responding)’ sometimes on start up or exit. The Login patch becomes a black page and cannot be forced quit. I see gw2.exe running in task manager but there’s nothing I could do with it. It won’t go away no matter what I do. It causes my pc to be unable to shut down whenever I play gw2. I had to literally ‘FORCE SHUTDOWN’. It’s annoying and I wonder how long my pc is going to last if I keep doing this.

This only happens after the recent Wintersday Patch.

I find it quite dumb that you cannot even retaliate. They really should have at least put that yellow confirmation icon on payment option instead of a simple dialogue that looks like ‘Yes-go-ahead-and-finish-up-your-blabbering’ option. 2g isn’t a small amount for such dumb option.

Ascended Backpiece/ Capacitor Stat-Change

I care about the skin, the stats, and everything else I had spent so far. I do not want to go thru another stage of crafting or getting a whole new celestial ascended backpiece just because Anet didn’t include them earlier. If they can allow change to our legendaries, why not this as well?

I cannot create topics? why? I do not know where else to put this since I cannot create topic in suggestions.

I wonder if there is a way to change my current upgraded backpiece capacitor from berserker stat into a celestial stat? It is really unfair for me since I farmed so hard for a backpiece back then and wayfarer was still mf spec. There wasn’t any celestial backpiece back then. And I am reluctant to farm all over for it especially not all 500 ectos had been used. Please Anet, provide an item that can allow old players to change the type stat of backpiece while keeping its upgraded status.

Ele Arcane Blast/ Gyph of Renewal Underwater

Hi Anet,

Arcane Blast has ground targeting underwater. I really think it is a bug. There wasn’t any underwater targeting before the patch. How often do we swim at the base of the water? I do not see banners or grenades being ground targeted underwater either. So please fix that. Also, Gyph of Renewal. It seems broken forever!

LFG for Fractals: "3 War 1 Mes 1 Guard ONLY"

Hi Anet,

If you haven’t seen these titles in LFG for fractals or Arah, you are lying. When you get situations like this happening, it just mean one thing, your professions are lacking in that balancing department. That trio combination is just perfect They survive well even with berserker stats. Warrior has good stats even without vitality and toughness. It has permanent signet that regenerates outside on top of regeneration skills. Even my Soldier traited Warrior does decent DPS, while classes like Necro and Ele just have to spend points into vit or toughness just to stay barely alive.

Hi Anet,

I am sure someone has talked about the same things mentioned here before. But I am still seeing the same problems. Therefore, the same complaints.

Appreciate the attempt to diversify the builds for Elementalists by changing the traits. I think the latest patch did open up some possibilities for other types of ele builds besides D/D. Especially the Fire traits. However, the main underlying issues I feel isn’t just about the traits.

First of all, our best ranged weapon, the Staff isn’t exactly what a nuker would use. The skills needs to hit faster and some of the less functional skills really needs to be revamped. Water 3 is ground target and is hardly useful in fights that requires immediate burst heal and larger AOE. Skills like Dagger Water 5 which does a perfect job. I mean, even a warrior with traited Shouts Heal can heal better and faster than that(3xshouts heals 3x!). We really need something like Staff Water 5 to work just like Water 3. Heals. Not just regen. Fire spells are cool but would love to have it hastened for better dps. Lightning and Earth really needs more attention. Lightning can have more AOE damaging skills instead of just pure CC. Engineer grenades has both damage and conditions like blinds. I would love to see at least 1 more aura for Staff skills. Or at least give us a lunge combo finisher so that we can get Fire Aura. D/D can have 3 auras up almost permanently!

Personally I feel that I really survive better with D/D because I was able to move around quickly and heal fast. I have all the skill interrupts and evades available. I have 3 Auras and all of them grants me Fury and Swiftness or even Mights. I really won’t see myself with a Staff unless I can go full berserker with my character and not die away like a paper.

No, an Ele isn’t just normal paper. It is a Tissue paper. Even among the 3 scholars, we have the least HP and Defence. Why the class discrimination man? Even with full Soldier Armor, the most HP I can see is 20-22k. And less than 3k defence. That’s almost like what some of the classes get by default. We had to sacrifice stats on toughness and vitality just so that we do not die easily. And our dps output just doesn’t cut it. The only reason I hope to find for being weak is that you are at least a glass cannon. But we are not. We attack slower, we have absurdly low crit rate.

So Anet, think about the underlying factors before you make changes to traits. If you do not change the formula of the equation, the end result remains the same.

Lightning Flash Rooting

I got stuck right after a cantrip lightning flash couple of times. I did dodge before or after the cantrip ground target was set. Then the next thing my character is rooted stuck on that location. Nothing could free me up from the immobilisation after that. Not even Armor of Earth or Mist Form. I would just stand there and die. Also, why did you remove ‘breaks stun’ from Cleansing Flame? Warrior has a similar version of shout but they breaks stun too…

From a full zerker perspective, you should be able to crank out more damage as 30/15/0/0/25 using grenades, bombs and EG.

You’d basically use grenade 2, 5, 4 when available (no poison on the target for 5), EG 4, Bombs 2, 3, 1.

It’s certainly more involved than just using the bomb Auto, but it should be the best possible damage you can get with 25 might stacks.

I’d like to see what build traits you would use for grenades bombs and EG? And sigil/ rune? How do you remove conditions? Is throw wrench/ prybar not useful? I kinda like the dmg output so far… I’m running with grenade/ bomb and wrench for now but seriously lacking on condition removal and mobility section. :/

Changes to the Dec 10 patch preview

Ouch bunker healing build eles will become a pain to beat with this incoming Soothing Wave redesign. I guess I have to burst more now with this patch.

More sustain I love it and you don’t have to go all out boon duration to keep decent uptime on regen

And I thought the purpose of these trait reshuffling and stuff was to reduce the dependency of elementalists on the Water and Arcana trait lines. Oh, the irony

But don’t get me wrong though. I’m not saying they should not proceed with the suggested change. It is a good change in fact. That’s one useless trait being modified and improved and that’s a very good thing. I just wish they push more modifications like this in the other trait lines though.

I feel that in order to make ppl less relying on DD arcane or bunker ele builds, we should just open up more build possibilities instead of trying to nerf water or arcane. The problem we faced most the time was the low dmg and slow animation in most skills. Thats why we are focusing on heavy rotation. Which needed arcane. And water is for survivability if we are going so close to enemy with just cloth and little hp. I feel the source of problem lies in our options. Our only far ranged weapon that can keep us safe is the Staff. But Staff has horrible offensive skills and low dps and uber slow animation. We can never be a nuker or glass cannon in range. No amount of changes to the fire/ lightning traits can help us if we are gonna rely on water and arcane as our staple. Earth is worse. We get targetted if we increase toughness. And condition isnt working as well as burst dps.

Profane Armor Skin

The Profane armor looks correct on Humans and Norn. It was an actual armor in GW1 for Necromancers and matches the original quite well. The mask was added though since in GW1 Necromancers used Scar Patterns in place of head armor.

Please compare the gw1 and 2 profane armor for male characters. I have no complaints with the female one.

They just don’t match up. GW1’s look way more well-designed and less sloppy compared to GW2’s. It really looks metallic and evil rather than goofy like it is right now. Those shoulder pads look cumblesome and those gloves? OMG.

Elementalists are very underpowered

I wonder.. JUST WONDERING. If it would be any good to have elemental/ magical attack and defense aspects to this game. Meaning magical attacks will somehow penetrate certain % of non-magical character. Making warriors extremely strong in physical aspect but weak in magical. And elementalist and other scholarly classes stronger in magical, weaker in physical. So they sort of counter each other. Rangers, engineers and thieves might have different thresholds of these. Guardians probably mediocre in both attacks but strong in both difference.

Of course, I’m just thinking out loud as it would dramatically change the whole game play and might kitten even more people off :P.

Elementalists are very underpowered

I started out with thief and then an elementalist. I found myself in trouble trying to keep up with the learning curve. I had initially thought that elementalist is a high dps class and went cannon build. I later found out that most the direct damage skills are in fire. But the cast time of fire 1 is horrible and made it hard for me to kite. So I eventually swapped to lightning and I am able to kite 3 or more mobs at least. But it is still extremely dangerous since one stun from the mob and I-am-dead-again.

Naturally, I gave up and went on to try guardian. I was so pleased with the survivability and range of a staff guardian. Even the elite of tomb of wrath is pretty impressive. But what I learnt most is the effects of boons and all the 15 mights that can be cast upon with staff 4. I went on to do research about elementalist and decided to combine my knowledge to respec into a DD boon achiever. Sure, it requires more complex attunements and key shifting just to achieve a full 15 might (if the final blast of churning earth pulls off, that is) as compared to a single channel of staff 5 from guardian (yea it’s channel, but with 4s block from focus, it’s easy to pull off). But all in all, I became pleased with my Elementalist. She now has perma shared Fury, Swiftness and always maintained at least 12mights to make up for her loss in precision and power since I’m using 0 10 0 30 30.

I haven’t fought in pvp so I cannot complain or compare if it is indeed underpowered or not. But my one and only problem is that in DD, there is really little skills that can hit objects that requires range. I found myself having to swap weapon from inventory before every encounter in dungeons. I kill things fast using DD but when it comes to having to kill trap statues in AC, I had to run out of battles just to swap to staff before swapping back to dagger again before entering another mob fight.

I have no solution for this sadly. If we’re allowed to swap weapons, we would be having 40 skills in total and that’s hardly fair either. I can only suggest that they balance some of the skill ranges a little. Say, Earth 1 should theoretically be able to spike out of walls as well, so long as it is still within 50 melee range, and skills like breath and water projectiles should point towards the target’s angle instead of roaming about ground level.
