What’s wrong with an Azura that earns the respect of the Warband?
What’s wrong with a sylvari learning how to invoke the spirits of the wild? In a certain way sylvari Ranger do just that.
Also, The gods are real in GW2, so what would prevent a Charr to have a particular experience with the god Lyssa? Making them use their free will to believe, just like any creature with free will can in the real world.
All the examples you gave sound like incredible story lines inside the world of GW2.

consistency is what is wrong… what would be the point of having different races with different cultures and different personalities? just for different armor models?
hell, why even bother with different professions then? what is wrong with a warrior having an animal pet? what is wrong with a guardian invoking the elements? what is wrong with a mesmer building turrets?
it is to my understanding that racial skills were in the game to give more options to low-level characters, this is why they are objectively worse than some professions skills (like the charr shout and the warrior shout)
one thing that i hated in WoW was that i was forced to play races i didn’t like, or that didn’t fit my style because their racials were just too powerful.
as for “being able to learn other races skills”, that would screw up the RPG element in a big way… an asura calling in a charr warband? a sylvari turning into a bear? a charr praying to lyssa?

the only way i can see a buff to racials is if they’re only avaliable in the open world
never had connection issues in GW2… since the last quarterly patch i’ve been disconnecting at least twice a day.
every, single, day.
at the very moment when the update went live, my launcher completely crashed and i couldn’t even start the game. would get an error message saying the file didn’t exist.
managed to work around that, with help from the forums, but still get horrible connection problems.
disconnected for no reason, at random times, and takes me over 5 minutes to log back in.
i immediately check my internet connection every time, and it is still working perfectly… i have no reason to believe the problem is on my end.
edge of the mists, eternal battleground, each of the borderlands and obsidian sanctum… what are the key differences between them? i’m in need to farm a bunch of tokens for my legendaries, would be nice to know what the best one to farm them is.
i say queue system in this sense: you click to join a party member in a map, then instead of getting a message “the map is full” and having to click again and again, you would be asked: “would you like to be placed on a queue for this map?”
and then when someone left in your queue time, you’d get a message saying “there is a spot on the server, would you like to join?”
that would solve the problem of some people spending 5 minutes to join and having someone else who got there 10 seconds ago “stealing” their spot.
it is ridiculous that in plain 2016 a player has to spend 5 minutes spamming right click, left click to try to join a map… even more ridiculous when someone joins the party and 10 seconds later gets a taxi in front of someone who has been trying a long time.
nothing more lovely than DCing in a guild map and not being able to rejoin until after the event is over…
i need a lot of gold to craft my bolt, and since dungeons got butchered i have no idea of how to farm gold efficiently.
i’ve narrowed it down to one of these:
fractal 40
T6 blood map bonus
SW event
SW chest
is any of these significantly more efficient than the others? is there any other way which has similar or better efficiency?
one thing that really annoys me is when i log in on lion’s arch and the music continues blasting when i go inside a fractal or WP to another zone.
it’s really anti-climatic to have the lion’s arch theme song playing in the swampland fractal, or something like that… is there an option to make the music switch when you switch envyronments, or do the songs always play until the end?
i mainly play open world content and mid-tier fractals (21-50), i’m currently using rabid gear on my berserker, but every build guide i’ve seen uses viper or sinister.
should i switch my stats to one of those, or is toughness useful?

please, add to the final mastery a 25% bonus movespeed in core tyria.
i am so used to playing with +25% now that playing without it feels painful… physically painful.
this is why i refrain from playing guardian, revenant and mesmer. simply because i know i’ll be moving so slowly through the world.
it even keeps me from using certain interesting skills because i “need” to spec into the 25% movespeed signets/traits.
plus, the pact commander mastery is pretty irrelevant. bonus movespeed in cities, where you can easily WP around, and an auto-loot ability when you can already AOE loot with the press of one button… it’s ridiculous.
What do people have to complain about? How about the amount of content and “features” you get simply isn’t worth the price?
did they announce any feature and content that didn’t make it into the game?
if you bought the game, you were fully aware of what you were going to get for your money.
idk about any content that was avaliable for players before hot, and couldn’t be played after the release unless you had the expansion… care to give me an example?
Please don’t be put off by the title. I’m not making this thread to bash the game or say any other game is better. I’m making this thread to see if anyone else agrees with the problems I have with this game: meaning the philosophy behind its structure. If my points are valid then I hope the devs will see this and choose a new course for GW2 in future expansions to encourage players to return and keep playing. I love GW2 I truly do. I played this game since beta. But I found myself lacking interest in it for a long time now after playing almost non-stop for about 2 years. This game was hella fun for the first year I played, but by the second year I started noticing things that made me less and less interested and invested in this game until I found myself playing off and on by the third year, and then eventually loosing all interest in this game and lacking motivation to return despite the new expansion and the new content.
you paid $50 for a game and played it non-stop for 2 years… sounds like you got your money’s worth of entertainment a thousand times over.
this is the thing about modern gamers… they expect to pay for a game once and play it 100hours every month for the next 10 years.
how many games out there keep people’s interest after 2 years of playing? i don’t know about you, but even Skyrim and The Witcher 3 can only be played so many hours before you get bored out of your mind…
as far as i know, A.net didn’t lie about the expansion… every single feature/content that i saw they announce made it into the game.
in the AngryJoe interview, they said loud and clear that “this is a feature focused expansion instead of a content focused one”, so everyone who bought HOT knew exactly what they were getting.
if you put it on your mind that there would be a thousand hours worth of content, a 50-hours story or 20 different maps, even though they never even hinted at anything like that, then you have nothing to complain about…
To everyone who has any issues with what they got out of their HoT investment:
How many hours of entertainment does it require for y’all to feel you’ve got your money’s worth out of a MMO expansion? How many hours have y’all played HoT?
If the answer to the first question is realistic, and the answer to the second question is larger than the first question, I hate to break it to you but y’all got your money’s worth.

i did not for most part, i hated xp grind and mp, i hated specialization grind, i hated those annoying mini games, i hated short story,i hated lack of new legendary weapons because i still run with kudzu on my male norn which look ridiculous and other LBs look even worser, i was hoping for new long bow legendary but guess what? its no where to be seen yet.
yeah for 50$ hot surely made me hate a lot of things in a game i used to love.
if you hated everything about the expansion, why did you buy it?
next time, instead of throwing your money on pre-orders for a product you know nothing about, wait until the reviews are out (not IGN bull***, see videos from GW2 youtubers) and decide for yourself if you want to buy it.
i for one didn’t play much of the HOT maps, because my play time is mostly during dead-hours and i can’t do anything alone, but i’m still enjoying a lot of the features the expansion brought to the core game like masteries and elite specs.
play for 20 minutes, get DR, don’t play for over an hour until DR goes away.
is that how arena.net wants the game to be?
i would happily spend hours farming my legendary mats, but taking over 5 events to get one reward is ridiculous. worst of all: DR is global. you get DRd on one map, you’ll get DRd on them all.
seriously, WTF? they already took away our dungeon gold farming, now they won’t even let us farm the mats? do they just want legendaries to be impossible to craft? or do they want people to buy gems to get them?
every single time i get to vinewrath boss, my game crashes. its impossible to complete the frostfang legendary collection this way… what can i do to fix this problem? reinstal?
currently i’m using berserker (duo axes + warhammer on a signet build) and i’m getting my kitten kicked in solo content… every time i get jumped by 3 or more enemies at a time i get killed…
is soldier worth using, or will my dps go down too much?
