Occasionally starting the client it doesn’t accept mouse inputs. Can’t drag the window, click input boxes, or click Login, but can hit enter instead if stored. Pretty weird. It’s probably happened in total maybe 4 times.

Thanks for the work and the updates of progress!

I’m wondering if a lot of the performance issues I’m having may relate to the constant high disk reads by the client ranging from 20MB/s upwards of 80MB/s. It’s like it’s trying to put the whole dat file into ram and then compress the ram and then do it over again – pretty weird. I haven’t observed any write operations thus far I don’t think.

I did check activity monitor after playing for a bit (don’t remember just how long, but had to be less than an hour based on avg. crash frequency) to find 84gigs of data read by the client just playing EBG – single map.

is there a repair option for the 64bit test client? …

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments

ah didn’t see they’d updated at a glance from the cider based arguments – Thanks! /Applications/Guild\ Wars\ 2\ 64-bit.app/Contents/MacOS/GuildWars2 -repair

tossed the 32bit client and reinstalled the 64bit which seemed to help with the endless client initialization at first restart for what that’s worth. I suspect it was having to go find the dat file before and then verify it or something I’m not sure.

Running the repair command it appears to have gobbled up all the ram and then proceeded to compress ram though it’s all “inactive” rather than in use by guild wars or kernel. I noted last night that it was using over 13gigs of ram but most of it was being listed as Kernel use rather than GW2 which I hadn’t observer previously. Currently sitting at 24meg free 937meg compressed and 13.22gig inactive (I purged it before running the repair). It isn’t necessarily problematic just observation.

is there a repair option for the 64bit test client? I’ve been having an unusual amount of crashing the last couple days shortly after login during low activity WvW (no blog / zerg engagements). Looks like alll the bugs I’m experiencing have already been mention like the haloing from enabling occlusions.

Over all performance is better than running Win64 in wine, but the wine only seemed to crash when idle I suspect due to being unable to load the login screen after disconnect. Generally seems more stable than the 32bit in WvW despite the odd random crashes I’m getting currently on the test client.

Much appreciate the work going into this!

Late 2013 27" iMac i7 3.5ghz 24gig ram GTX780M 4096M vram

*edit in response to the disk activity I’ve observed upwards of 30MB/s read activity while game loads into playable state after character select on standard hdd.
I’m not sure why the login screen takes sooo long to initialize when there’s little to no observable disk activity and approximately 15% cpu utilization.

MAC: 64bit via Wine mouse issue

So after some tinkering around and further web searches and some testing I concluded it was some bad mouse drives at the OS level that was causing the issue. Oddly It only seemed to occur in Guild Wars that I’d noticed, but none the less.

Meanwhile I’m still working on squeezing better performance out for WvW cause 3-5fps in zerg isn’t ok. Hopefully do some testing tonight when things are populated and see how it looks. I suspect that, in part, Transgaming was using some proprietary drivers to get the performance out the official client – which runs great until it crashes….

For anyone curious I think I’ve seen the 64bit wine client use upwards of near 4.5 gigs of ram and hasn’t fully utilized the vram or gpu processing of the GTX780M 4096 from monitoring via iStats.

Since the official client continues to crash repeatedly in WvW, I’ve been trying to work on getting the 64bit client going in Wine. It’s all looking pretty good using the 2.7 Staged with just a few tweaks for performance – aside from mouse issue.

So if I’m holding a mouse button (either one for looking or turning) and then use a skill it seems to “release” my mouse button so I have to physically release and press again. It’s pretty weird and wanted to see if anyone else run into it before. I know there’s a group running in Wine, but most might be 32bit.

Wine basic details for the interested:
winecfg enable CSMT

regedit add key + string values:
Direct3d
VideoMemorySize 4096
UseGLSL disabled

run from terminal or script with -dx9single
and also export WINEDEBUG=-all due to overhead of all the fixme messages

anyone else still having this issue? We’re now running into the same problem. Met the requirements for the mission, but it still isn’t being completed in the Guild pane.

Yep I’ve got a GTX 780M 4096MB and tried doing full and half values of vram to no obvious effect. Looks like some new CUDA drivers came out in the last week or so not that they should have any effect for gaming that I’m aware of – updating now.

Btw i was able to open the game and play WvW for a couple hours and even do some SW only to crash when Waypointing to Lions Arch.

I’ve made some changes to my config file (the one in the actual app folder, not library one) which made me able to run the game ok on my mbp late 2011 15"

These were my changes:

“VideoRam” = “1024”
“AGPVertexRam” = “512”

“VertexShaderHash” = “600”
“PixelShaderHash” = “600”
“MTD3D” = “0”

and i also added a line that is not originally in the file right under “MTD3D” = “0”

“sRGBInPixelShader” = “2”

Please let me know if you guys see improvements

Gave this a whirl but still crashes. I’ve actually got a new crash since last night that actually crashes the login process or something and sends me to system login screen to log back in and load everything back up. I’m beginning to wonder if all these GW2 crashes are somehow causing some serious system problem.

[MAC] Repair command working?

Leila.7269

Is this normal when trying to run the repair command for Mac? It doesn’t appear to ever exit but it loads the launcher prior to the messages. Emailed support, but they really didn’t answer the question. I’ve let it sit like that for upwards of 4hrs I think and judging by activity monitor it doesn’t appear to be doing anything.

Tried redownloading / installing from scratch, but it does the same thing, so maybe it’s normal?

The only thing I’d say is what we need a faster animation so dagger 4 actually hits more often when used at range in pvp. I don’t have issue with the on crit proc – you can either take the trait and build for it or not as a matter of choice.

I’ve been mailing back and forth with support over the frequent crashes recently. I don’t know what they did, but it used to be stable aside from the trading post issues. I wondered if it was related to nVidia support, but it looks like it’s an issue with AMD cards too.

Anyway I’ve jumped through all sorts of hoops to hopefully get the point across that it doesn’t seem to be an issue with my system / user login account. Some things I’ve done multiple times like reinstalling and running disk repair. Not sure why, but it seems to be getting more frequent since the recent update.

[MAC] Windowed mode resolutions

Can we get some more windowed mode screen options for 27in iMacs or is there a something we can modify to get custom resolutions? The highest windowed mode option is only 2048×1152 and I’m looking for a 2560 x something (maybe 12xx factoring in menubar plus windowbar).

Currently I’m seeming little to no difference in El Capitan 10.11.1 vs Yosemite, so I don’t see any reason to update or not based on GW2 performance / crashing. That said I’m currently running a repair on my install since it seems to be crashing more since I came back than it did last I was playing. I might have been on a previous AMD graphics machine but been trying to get it resolved.

I haven’t actually had issues with performance on the iMac aside from random crashing that I didn’t used to have last I was playing. I’ve been going back and forth with support trying to get it resolved, but so far they’ve just had me doing pretty basic stuff.

I’m still waiting on a proper 2560 windowed mode which is missing….

Windowed mode?

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Leila.7269

Leila.7269

What we really need is window mode hiding menubar. Basically the menu bar + the window bar is taking up a lot of space and not being compensated for. Wondered if there was something we could edit in the game file for custom resolution to at least get it to not cut off at the bottom.

Well, I’ve tried all sorts of things to resolve this tgupdate issue and presumably the resulting gem buying issue. I’ve repaired the app, repaired disk permissions, tried on a new login account, changed the directory structure permissions to 777 of the app and tried as admin and super user accounts. I’m out suggestions in terms of things I could do on my system that could somehow be interfering.

I don’t think i have a partition big enough. I was playing in Mountain Lion for about a week though before upgrading to Mavericks without issue. I wondered if it might be server load after noticing the same problem with disconnects over a couple days, but only during certain time frames. Kinda weird all the way around.

It seems to go through periods of working right and dropping connections as it was working well late last night and in the morning when I did a quick storyline. The inconsistency makes it most puzzling.

I thought this had solved my issues, but today they’re back again. Oddly everything was problem free earlier in the day, but now getting client disconnect that sends me to the character select screen frequently. It appears to take a while for the error message to popup if it ever does. I’ve deleted the app support folder and done the repair a few times and continuing to have issue this time.

In case there’s any relevance I’m currently out in the Plains of Ashford with a low population.
