Basically I’ve never managed to be around during the times the toxic mantle and gloves have been up on sale to grab them for my Sylvari. I’ve been trying really hard to see if there is a pattern or cooldown time for when items leave the store and return but I can’t figure it out.

I noticed that the mantle and gloves were on sale about 4 months ago, would it be safe to assume we won’t be seeing them any time soon? Is the cooldown for items roughly a year usually?

I’m basically looking for a solid build before I buy any gear and stuff, I boosted my Revenant through tomes of knowledge. I want a build that’ll make Open World a breeze and will also perform well in dungeons or wvw, I know that’s asking a bit much but I just don’t have a lot of gold to be buying multiple sets of gear.

I tend to prefer power builds and simpler rotations but I’m open to condi/complex if it really tears through stuff! I’ve also not yet fully unlock Herald so if anyone has sort of like a ‘tide-over’ build until I do that would be awesome! More than anything I just want a solid build/rotation I can stick to and a set of gear I won’t have to change! (P.S. I do hope I get to use sword and staff)

Toxic Mantle and Toxic Gloves please I unfortunately missed the chance whenever they were available. I would love love love a chance to pick these up and they are just about the only thing I’m waiting to spend money on. No high hopes on seeing them soon but oh well, worth a try

I played Guild Wars 2 from release, then quit after the Karka release to try out other games.

I returned just shy of three months ago to the game, hoping I’d find the little gem I had left behind, and for the most part I did. Let my just say, Necromancer is my thing, the whole theme the mechanics, I love the profession, I have 3 different characters and all are Necromancers and I loved GW2 for giving me such a profession to play.

During my 3 months of playing I fell in love with the game again and my Necromancer and hoped the game would pretty much banish all urges of me wanting to go play a certain competing Japanese MMO who just launched early access to their expansion.

But after 3 months of enjoying the profession, enjoying the game, getting used to the weaknesses (oh and hell are there a lot for necromancers) there is suddenly this patch due out with all these changes quite a few of which are in my opinion devastating nerfs.

Look, I don’t pretend to be the most skilled player on the planet or an amazing PVPer so I wont speak for other people, I’ll speak for myself, currently with Necromancer? I feel like things are balanced, we certainly do not feel like the strongest class, but even just reading these changes is making me go off PVP. PVP is my thing, thats what I enjoy in this game, logging on and doing PVP and my reward track over and over.

All I’m saying is, I’ll try it when the patch goes out, but I already have a feeling the changes are going to frustrate me, make me die constantly and will end up driving me off the game, just a shame is all.

How about we get some feedback on the consume conditions nerf? I for one am very interested in taking whatever it was that was taken during the making of this decision, then at least I might be able to convince myself to play the profession I love even after the nerf, despite feeling like I’m intentionally gimping myself by playing the weakest profession in the game.

Unless it aligns with the view of ANet/those few forum-soldiers. Apparently.

I just want to say something to those of you, who have taken it upon themselves to be ‘freedom fighters’ on behalf of ANet and go around diving into every topic to berate your fellow players, call them entitled and greedy only to leave and make a new topic stating the same thing.

I genuinely hope you get your way.

Why? Because then a couple of months down the line after HoT release, you see the population plummet, you lose friends and guildies and despite the Megaserver you start feeling like you are in a ghost town in zones that will be popular, you will know that you were also part of the problem, you actively belittled players with genuine concerns.

Do you think they will simply feel better and buy HoT because you insulted them? No, few of them might stop responding because they don’t want to deal with you, but in the end considering how passionate they feel about the topic, they will probably leave, and then likely some of their friends will follow in order to be with their friend and so on and so on.

I just want you to remember this in about half a years time, I want you to remember the fellow players you put off taking a stand, I want you to remember the kind of business practices you encouraged.

Also agree, I would have paid the $50 without this ‘Free Core Game’ nonsense that indeed is just basically a middle finger to anyone who bought the original game and has been supporting/playing all this time.

This is not how you treat loyal customers who have stuck with you for years.

It is 2-in-1 as far as I am aware, which incidentally is what is creating about 80% of the rage, the fact that if you have an existing account you want to upgrade, you don’t even get the free core game.

My opinions about the fact they are going about getting New Players in a very unfair way aside, you are basically asking people to have perspective the worst possible ever time you ever could.

Yes well while at the same time they are making new players jump through one less, incredibly easy hoop, they are giving less value to their existing customers and I’d say given the reactions, insulting them and rousing quite a bit of contempt.

What really amuses me is the people standing up for ANet when it is a majority that is angry and not a minority, in the end it doesn’t really matter if people are mad because ANet is not drowning puppies, whatever the reason they are angry, if it is a majority and you are running a business (which they are obviously trying to do) you listen to said majority, or you lose your customers, your most loyal ones.

And that will happen here, I’m sure you and everyone else defending ANet don’t really care even though it will affect your gameplay if the population drops off, but ANet at some point will care, either to people speaking out or to people leaving.

It is very simple why it upsets me, I followed this game through development, I pre-ordered it, I supported it from launch to now, spending money whenever I could.

And now I’m being excluded from a freebie if I want to upgrade that same account, please explain to me how it is fair for me to pay the same price as a New Player however in that they get a copy of the ‘core game’ for free and I only get the expansion.

This is not fair, at least existing players should have the option of doing something with that core game, they should be able to give it to a friend, or use it to make a second account after upgrading their original.

You are paying the same as a new player (technically more if you count what you paid at release) but are getting less products in return, even if one of said products is a so called ‘freebie’

And to those comparing this to Heavensward, do remember that FFXIV is a subscription game. So you are paying the price of Heavensward and then you’re still paying a subscription.

This pricing is still a better deal than all other MMOs that I’m personally aware of.

I think you seriously fail at logic. I don’t know the specific of the Bioshock deal, but IF he gave that to a friend, then that automatically becomes non-useless. His Bioshock game is useless because he either cannot or does not want to give it to another person. Maybe the game is on the same disc as the newer Bioshock so he can’t give it to anyone, or maybe for some other reason, like it’s a digital copy that is linked to his account. The free copy of the base game you receive with a purchase of HoT is useless because at this point all signs say that we cannot give it away to another person.

I don’t know how this concept is so hard for you to grasp, but I’ll try and repeat it again; The problem is not that we cannot give the core game away to another person, the problem is that the ‘core’ game will not be able to be used by us, in -any- way whatsoever, we wont even be able to make a second account for ourselves if we upgrade our existing ones.

Do we really believe this would have somehow made the game cheaper? Honestly, it would have once again lined up with industry standard $50 expansion, but now new players have to pay more.

But hey, now we don’t feel like we missed out on our free account right?

Yeah, you can say it is cruel or selfish but that is how they could have avoided a lot of hurt feelings, no one wants to be paying the same as the guy next to him but getting less for his money.

I’ve played so many MMORPG’s over the last decade I really have, and this is honestly the first one I’ve seen where new players are getting a better deal than the ones here from launch. This arguing over $50 is pathetic, its a one time $50 you spend, and never have to again on this game. Half of the people complaining have spent easily over $100 on just gems, so why is $50 so unfair? They are charging people the same price as any other gaming company in this world today charges. Get over it, its $50. If that is too much money then either you don’t truly like this game enough to invest in it, or you should be making money instead of playing it.

It is unfair because some people (new players in this case) are getting more value for their money than you are.

What you get is the past ~3 years of playtime, and if you logged in, the living story season 2 all of it.
All the other updates you would have gotten for free anyways even if you join the game now for the first time.
So you are actually 3 years ahead of a new player, thats about what you get for allready being a veteran player.
I dont mind, I got the Deluxe game and I am happy.

Well uhm, sorry but no, not really, first of all I haven’t logged in every single day over the last few years, I played the game a lot right up to the Karka release since then have been on sporadically, over all that time I’ve spent plenty of money on gems and of course supported the release by buying the gem.

I didn’t get to do the whole Scarlet Living World story, and when I came back I actually had to buy the living story pack for season 2, so how exactly am I ‘ahead’ of a new player who can just do the exact same things as me?

Your putting a price on the time I spent being able to log on or not on the game? Hello? This is basically saying the game should have a subscription cost.

If all I get for being an original supported of the game is; “You were able to log on before Heart of Thorns” that seems like a pretty lousy ‘gift’ I’d have rather saved my money and joined with Heart of Thorns and got the best value even if it meant starting at lvl 1 with the expansion release.

I just have to get this off my chest, I really wish people who are defending/in favor of the Necromancer changes coming next week would stop citing the Elite Specialization Reaper in order to justify the changes or go on about how ‘good’ we will be.

Next week, we are getting the changes, we are NOT however getting Reaper until Heart of Thorns.

Heart of Thorns has NO RELEASE DATE yet, which means for all you know we could be waiting six months before we get access to the Specialization.

In light of that, please, please stop using Reaper and it’s shouts as excuses for how our skills have been ‘balanced’ it just makes no sense for me to have to quit my favorite class until Heart of Thorns, on the basis of “Oh well hey-ho the class will be good come the expansion!” We aren’t talking about being patient for a week or two, we are talking about being crippled for as many months as it will take to release Heart of Thorns, and even then you can’t be sure we will be ‘alright’.

I’m just so frustrated, I know Necromancer was not fantastic but I was actually enjoying it, I didn’t feel overpowered in PVP yet I also didn’t feel helpless, just keep reading over these changes it really is knocking the drive out of me to play the game.

Is that in the same patch they are making it the Necromancer starting heal, lol what?

I can see the pain on a new players face, using a heal that then instantly gets them killed afterwards because of all the extra damage they take.

I just don’t understand! Were people complaining about Necromancer being overpowered!? Were there too many Necromancers in top PVP!? Were we the number one requested class in PVE!?

Please just someone explain to me why changes like the Consume Condition one and Spectral Walk ‘bug’ fix were needed??

What am I supposed to do in PVP now? Already as it was Consume Conditions was just barely enough to make all the condition and crowd control mayhem bearable what am I supposed to pick now?? 10 Stacks of Vulnerability is INSANE, you go 4 seconds with that and you WILL be dead, you wont even have time to pass it on.

Assuming I pick one of the other heals…what am I going to do about conditions as a power-necro?? Dagger offhand? Then basically lose an interrupt and reliable swiftness? Take spectral walk to make up for the lack of swiftness? Come on seriously this is insane we are going to be -WRECKED- in all forms of PVP, have they even seen what the other professions are capable of??

The Lich Form nerf too I mean…5 seconds reduced duration? WHY? Already as it was we either got focus nuked to hell or people abused LoS until it ran out and now you make it even easier for 2-3 people to cheese our elite ability by hiding behind an object? Again, was this complained about a lot!?

I just do not understand where the idea or understanding of these nerfs came from, I hadn’t seen anyone complaining seriously about Necromancer in anything, infact most people regarded us as trash in things like PVE, where did all this come from?? Random?

I’m coming up on 20+ Hours on my submitted ticket soon, have not received any reply on it, getting rather disheartened indeed.

A friend of mine who was not even online during the event seems to have recieved a chest, why would the script possibly skip over me in that case? I attempted the event twice, and both times was kicked out with a d/c error and then thrown on to random broken overflows when I tried to rejoin I’m 100% certain I should have met the criteria this so called script just seems 100% Random now from where I’m standing, kinda disappointing.

Submitted a ticket some hours ago about not receiving chest, attended the event but had plethora of issues to deal with, majorly d/cing and being put on different overflows, thus not being able to get at the chest after fighting the karka twice.

Hope to get an answer soon. Still nothing.

Players who already participated and looted the chest, who then quickly ran to other overflows which counted as a disconnect have recieved ANOTHER reward chest in the mail.

Those who legitimately disconnected still recieve nothing.

Oh and same as above, 4 of my friends and 13 of my guildies all precursors, 0.2% drop chance I’m sure….

At least I say what I say because half of the people I personally KNOW now do have a precursor, so yes I can say from my view, it is 40%, but of course, this fanatical “YOUR JEALOUS” screaming is coming from someone who obviously does have a precursor.

Same boat as you Leviatana, was pretty excited this morning, had rolled a guardian was all set and happy, after tonight’s event and this lingering bitter taste of being cheated, last thing I feel like doing is logging in and resuming my ‘grind’, while people I was running with for the most part are running around with stuff that will take me half a year to grind up. Definitely time for a break from the game after this.

@ting, not only is it too late for that, but they do not have the ‘technology’ to even roll back hacked / deleted characters (At least that’s what Ive seen them say), so I doubt they could do this, and even if they did, then all that would happen is that the people feeling cheated and raging would be replaced by the people losing their precursor/gold and raging.

@Mr Crazy Moose, 100% True, it certainly changed it for me, Im not looking forward to the next event for ‘fun’ or the lore, or anything else, this killed that for me, Im looking forward to the next event so that I can catch up with my now rich-friends, I mean, why should I spend hours and hours and hours farming Orr putting in effort when tons of people just skipped that step by being lucky in this event, might as well sit back, wait for the next event in a few months or so. Of course I wont, Ill probably go back to farming because I enjoy playing the game, even though this event has really really made me feel cheated, but at least when I reach that point when I have 100g or more in my bag, i can honestly say I did it without getting ANets, cheap and dirty boost.

Sollanon, pretty much got the exact point I was trying to make, hell there are people right now, logging on, finding out about this precursor deal, and raging hard because they decided to skip the event thinking the special surprise would be another ‘cutscene’ such as it was in the Halloween event. Would they be this mad without the precursor hand-out? No I dont think so, I doubt they would be mad over even 5 exotics at once, why? 10g =/= 150g

Tyrick do you actually have a source for that? I think your wrong, nowhere have I ever seen there been a mention of a massive increase to precursor chance from all golden chests, I believe it was this event only.

Also @ Lethrface, just look at posts like LordYz’s or epicsmooth, and tell me if they are stating their opinion or just trying to get a rise, for the record, I don’t mind your view at all, that’s yours one of, thousands of players, just hope that you can acknowledge the fact there are tons who do care and who do feel cheated and that you cannot just tell them to ‘stop it’.

@epicsmooth, no they weren’t, not without an excuse, if just as an example, the drops had been a fixed 2 rares and 2 exotics, without a chance for precursors, and everyone got 2 rares and 2 exotics, how would people possibly complain about that? They wouldn’t because no one would feel at a disadvantage or cheated, even if others got exotics that were ‘worth’ more, I promise you no one would rage the way they are now.

Problem is, it was not just a ‘small’ bit of difference in terms of reward worth between those who got the precursors and those who did not, the difference is massive, about 4g to 150g in average, huge gap.

@Bob, no it was poorly designed because tons of players feel bitter and cheated and everyone is raging at each-other, (At least this is the case on my server) I actually were hesitant about saying anything or making a thread as I thought it was just me, but after seeing how much and how many people were fighting over this, I thought I may as well put my opinion forward so that ‘maybe’ something will happen and change for the future. What’s done is done, I doubt they will be mailing precursors to everyone who did not get it, though, learning from their mistake and admitting it could certainly help, I dunno, ‘ease’ the tension?

You were like what, 1 in 10,000 then? Every single person I have ever talked to except you got the same level of reward from MK tower, don’t see how that’s unfair at all. You got lucky.

Seems a lot of people are in the same boat as me then, also Kita, count your guild lucky, one of my guilds is caught in a massive rage war over this, half feel cheated and furious, demanding stuff etc. While the other half rile them up by rubbing their luck in.

Anyone remember Mad King’s Tower? Everyone had the same hard work cut out for them, but oh guess what, when you finished it, at last, you never felt cheated, because everyone got the same level/worth of loot, this should have been the same, with everyone getting a set criteria.
