Okay.
After logging in and finding my beloved Superior Rune of the Ogre missing from my MM panel, I’ve discovered that both it and my equally dear Superior Rune of the Pirate have inexplicably and without warning been culled.
This it outrageous. As a steadfast minionmancer, I am apalled at the loss of the only minion I actually cared about, my sweet rock dog.
Seriously. What the heck. Has anyone else noticed this? WHY would they remove these, and as it appears, many other runes all of a sudden? I don’t recall it being unbalanced in anyway.
Freakin’ loved my rock dog.
Are you on drugs? Foot in the Grave is one of my most reliable abilities in PvP. I don’t know what I’d do without it. Stability for three seconds every seven seconds? Uhhh, yes, please.
Maybe you don’t know how to use it effectively.
Oooh come on, one mistake is forgivable, even two. But a third? This had gone on continuously since the launch of the game.
Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on you.
I bought heroic for my daughter and got the email with no code, bought the deluxe for me and got the code. So it may be a problem with just the heroic edition.
That may be, I too got the Heroic version.
I’m having this problem too. Just bought it for my GF, but there’s no serial code in the mail just the order number. We’re also EU, even though we’re gonna play on the US shards. Really wanted to cash in on that extra EXP!
Praise Nemesis! I tried this out for some Pavilion farming and a bit of other messin’ around, -really- enjoyed it. Although I, like other people, can’t wait to see a new rendition of it for WvW (if you intend on doing one of course).
Good work as always!
P.S. your voice gives me warm feelings.
What’s the most efficient weapon for dealing out death and suffering?
The pistol.
Giff necros pistal. Clint Eastwood-reaper for 2014
C-come on guys. Any help? A-at all?
Against my desires, I’ve finally decided to switch to a power-based build or my WvW ventures instead of my beloved fear-condition build. I followed some of the gearing options from Ascii’s Well build (A mixture of Berserker/Knight gear), and currently still have orange exotic tier PVT trinkets/accessories.
Anyway, whilst testing out some of my fancy new skills, I noticed that Well of Suffering seemed to be hitting underwhelmingly low. About 600-700 damage a tick. That didn’t seem right at all. I’m positive that part of the problem is my gear, though I was curious as to whether this is normal or not.
So for you PvE/WvE power players. How hard does your Well of Suffering generally hit for? Any tips on how to beef up that AoE damage?
Edit: Not only Well question, but suggestions in general for A/W and Staff based WvW power builds.

It’s not against other classes that have access to reliable stun breakers… just overboard vs the necromancer. Fear not… in the video guide i will release, the improved version of the fear build, i got you covered.
IMPROVED?
Thank you Nemesis. I’m still using the older one, albeit tweaked a bit for my WvW playstyle.
Thank you so much. ;_;
Also yes, hammer warriors are the suck.
‘Fear chains’, it’s like WoW all over again. Except so much easier to avoid.
I don’t usually agree with AlTroll, but this is one build that was completely fine before the DF patch. If you don’t run stability and you fight a terrormancer, that’s like going into an Arena match without a trinket. What do you -think- will happen? You’ll get killed my a build meant to counter you.
And then the terrormancer will die because they’ve been focused by two people.
I love your comics.
Chilling Darkness isn’t only for Plague, it’s also for Well of Darkness and (If you have it equipped) Deathly Swarm. In a push, that’s 13 people blinded+slowed and forced to either blow their heal in the wake of increased pressure, use their endurance or already rolled. Especially when you consider the hectic nature of two zergs colliding. Add in another necromancer or two, and that can be half of a zerg temporarily shut down. Of course this is all in preferable conditions and space, but still.
I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’s -necessary- for any build, but for me, it absolutely is.
I’m sure Ascii, like most, has a weapon with Bloodlust on it then swaps to his primary sigil at 25 stacks.
…twitch.
Duh. My bad.
I don’t really have an fusses with the build. I’ve been heavily debating switching to a Power based build for my rabid WvW’ing, and this doesn’t look like a bad place to start. However, I do have a minor question. Is the reason for not having a Sigil of Bloodlust on one of your weapons because of you being a frontline breaker? Or is the 5% critical chance really necessary. If Vampirism really does stack with power, and in addition to the Wells, I’d think 25 stacks over time would be rather valuable. Of course, I understand it could easily be knocked off in a heartbeat by a down.
Yay or Nay?
I haven’t ever tried it (Though I’d love to) but from what I’ve seen, I’d imagine it revolves around Blood Magic with healing to other teammates via DS and Siphoning.
I may have to check it out myself.
It IS a game. We play a game.
But it’s not JUST a game, it’s a hobby as well. And you want to excel at hobbies, and when that heavily depends on other people, it can get irritating.
I’m not saying anything is justified or that people shouldn’t get tough. Everything is different.
But it’s not ‘just’ a game.
Learn it, live it, love it. I still swear by it.
Full Rabid.
Only went with quality tuning crystals because they’re a lot cheaper.
Great for ZvZ, group play and solo in my experience.
Edit: Yes, Well of Suffering is more of a power skill, and you can totally swap it out for whatever else you want. However, in my playstyles, most zerg fights (often disorganized) are over quite quickly, and the large area forces a dodge or at least ticks a large number of enemies for a bit of damage. A bit like an additional AoE condition, in addition to Vuln.
Rising Bile. With a special animation.
That is all.
Really starting to think about the chill idea and plague with well of darkness. My biggest problem with this is still plague form itself.
I feel like its HP increase and blind spam is just a illusion of survival. Every time I go plague in the back of my head I feel like I’ve already lost. You have no heal, no conditions transfer(I don’t see why it doesn’t) no utilities. Just turn into a slow moving beacon saying “attack me now and kill me”.
That’s entirely fair. Though in addition to the massive boost to your health and the AoE blinding, you also get a buff to your Toughness whilst in Plague. The only view point I can offer is as far as WvW. Yeah, using Plague to keep up and wait for a heal is a good way of surviving an AoE-fest zerg, but at the same time, if you’re in the thick of it you’re likely to drop or get CC’d before you can pop off your Consume Conditions.
What you want to do is drop your marks and slap your Spectral Wall (if you’re running it) behind the group of Invaders and then whap your Plague on. Use your dodge as is necessary and when it’s about to fade, hop on out, heal up and focus on blasting and swapping conditions around from you and your allies with Putrid Mark. Again, I can only speak for WvW, but with -so- many people (assuming you are running with a zerg) you’re not going to get focused one bit unless you run up against an organized guild. Which is entirely possible, but, I wouldn’t base run of the mill tactics on that chance. You’ll have free reign to slap down your Wall/Well and Plague, and unless it’s -outrageously- crowded with immense AoE, you’ll be fine. Make smart use of your dodge rolls and the day is your’s.
As far as BiP is concerned, of course you most certainly don’t want to use it in tPvP or anything other than WvW I’d say, and even then I only ever swap it out if I need an extra damage boost to my bleeds/terror damage during a particularly prolonged fight. Sweeping in then pulling back to switch it out and diving in with 10+ stacks of might (plus whatever from, say, warriors) is a nasty surprise for the other group more often than not. Provided, it’s usually only a small battle when I bring it into play. But hey, it has it’s uses. Always be ready to swap out your skills as is needed.
Blood is Power is useless for the bleeds against players, let me put it to you this way: I could have a 12 minute bleed that killed anyone who kept it on them, but exactly whom is going to ‘allow’ me to keep a 12 minute bleed on them? In today’s meta, you will see constant cleanses and passive cleanses, it’s not worth taking.
I really don’t think conditionmancers are taking BiP for the 2 or 4 extra bleeds (though they’re nice). It’s for damage ticks.
This. The 10 stacks of might can give a big whallop to your condition damage. Even with that, however, I still refrain from using it.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it now, I swear down on Chilling Darkness. That, Ground placed Well of Darkness and Plague. I sound like a broken record, but it works wonders in large WvW battles. Be it blinding and chilling 10 people on a charge, or forcing them into using one (often both) of their dodge rolls. Granted, this is on a T2 server and most zergs are unorganized, but still. It’s very satisfying.
Condition damage is just half of our possibilities. We’re not just a condition damage class, but a -condition- class as well. Blow up that chilling/Blindness, pals.
I can only speak for WvW, but I run Nemesis’ ‘Fear is my Weapon’ build from pre-patch, but it’s still perfectly fine. It’s 0/30/20/0/20 for me, but I take Chilling Darkness and Focused Rituals in Curses (Terror as well of course) to help against zergs when we clash. With Plague + Well of Darkness, you can blind/chill a large number enemies very quickly, in addition with dropping a Spectral Wall behind them before leaping into the fray. I also use pure Rabid gear and with full stacks + Rare Veggie Pizza + Quality Tuning Crystal, I can get almost 2k Cond. Damage. I will be able to once I get the rest of my Ascended items.
It’s worked wonderfully for me, both offensively, but as Blood Red said, it’s also a godsend for defense. I truly do love it, and I don’t have to be a part of the OP Crying about Dumbfire.
My lordy god above, where is all this coming from? Yes, we all know by now. The Fear+Burning is what everyone is freaking out about. People aren’t used to necromancers doing damage. Yes, those numbers need to be tuned. But none of that other yak is OP. Our heal is fine, and we need it. If you want to make the other heals more desirable, buff them, but don’t bloody nerf CC. For the sake of the flying spaghetti monster, leave our other kitten alone.
(and fix the other bugs, IE Flesh Golem being aquaphobic.)
I had plenty of fun with the ‘Fear is my Weapon’ build pre-patch. I killed people, people killed me. Players were surprised to actually see a necro beating people. Was it OP at the time? I don’t know. Are we OP now? I don’t know, but we’re closer to it than we were before.
Take out Dhuumfire, leave us with with Torment and take out fear on Spectral wall. Give it someplace else (like it used to be). There, fine.
Just a bit of fine tuning and we’re in a perfect spot.
I personally use Nemesis’ ‘Fear is my Weapon’ build from before the patch, but I’ve found it to still be extremely useful (Swapping in Spectral Wall in place of, say, Corrupt boon but it’s up to you). That’s 0/30/20/0/20. I run with Well of Darkness to compound with Chilling Darkness to drop that + Plague during Open Field battles to really shut down a large fraction of a group, in addition to Well of Corruption, I feel like I really make a different. Adding in Marks and AoE’s from Scepter, I can’t really -say-, but I please myself and hopefully my teammates by feeling like I help us pull through on largescale battles with widespread blinds/cripples/chills.
Oh, and fears, of course. 8^y
They didn’t give us a shaft. They buffed us. They’re fixing bugs next patch. Chill out bruv.
Don’t forget about Quality/Master Tuning Crystals guys.
Nemesis, as always, you’ve impressed me and I greatly hope that this skill is used/implemented/adjusted in some way.
Also you are a handsome fellow.
