Well its honestly like any other skill in the game. Every ability can be activated anywhere then has a cool down.
That’s simply not true. There are many skills, even weapon skills (especially for mesmer) that just cannot be activated if you don’t have a target.
Frankly, I hope the next expansion story will move away from the boring elder dragon theme. I want to see characters like Vizier Khilbron and Varesh Ossa again.
I secretly hope for Palawa Joko being the next antagonist, but I know it’s very unlikely.
I REALLY doubt you will be able to preserve the character. They’re giving lvl 80 so that you can experience the HoT content even if you’re a new player or just want to do it with revenant; what’s more – they’re not going to even let you keep the loot that you’re going to get with your beta slot characters, so I’d be extremely surprised if they’d let you keep the beta character itself.
Chronomancer is lightyears ahead of everyone else.
I see what you did there :P
I don’t, since light year is a unit of length, not time.
My speculation? The preview will suck balls. Lots of talking about nothing , lots of unnecessary hype about some stupid details and not showing vital information they way they should be shown. In other words – it’s gonna be Points of Intrest, not Ready Up.
Kilroy StoneKin?
How would be this skill called then, “Another Legendary Dwarf Stance”?
I’ve already made a topic about it a while ago.

Just saying.
Since Shiro Tagachi is a very popular character among players as well as he’s one of the characters that deserve the “legendary” title the most, combined with the fact that ANet keeps saying that they’re going to implement both “good” and “evil” legendary hero stances, I can definitely see them putting him as one of the remaining legends, most likely a direct damage oriented one. And since that’s the current PvE meta, that’s going to be my legend – Shiro. (Legendary Traitor Stance? :P)

As for greatsword, please please please NO! Greatsword is overused and I hate that so much attention has been placed on this single weapon by Anet. Ideally I’m hoping the melee staff is their TH melee weapon in place of the greatsword.
I can’t possibly express how much I agree with this.
Hello,
as in the title, I am looking for an organized EU guild that specializes in dungeon and fractal runs. I am NOT interested in these so called casual guilds that do everything on paper and do nothing of it right, I just want to find a bunch of experienced people that I will be able to easily find a group to do dungeons within. I am NOT a hardcore player and I can’t offer being online every day of the week for at least 4 hours like some guilds ridiculously require cause, as much as it comes as a surprise to some guild leaders, I have a life outside the game too.
I have 7 toons (all professions except for mesmer) geared up in zerk gear. I’m semi-experienced in a few dungeons and I believe myself to be a quick learner so if I can’t do something, like say, melee Lupicus, it is a subject to change under a proper guidance. I have no problem with adapting to the team’s needs either.
A little bit of extra info about me: I’m playing on EU Desolation server, I’m 22, polish (but speaking english pretty well), I have a headset and I’m willing to use it during runs. I’ve been playing GW2 since beta with a few breaks here and there.
So, if I fit your requirements and your guild fits mine, let me know. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me either here or in the game.

We don’t need another prince rurik
Actually, I’ll take another Rurik, Khilbron, Shiro or Varesh over some annoying Taimi, Caithe, Eir etc every day of the week. But maybe it’s just me. I strongly feel that characters in GW2 lack substance, the story was SO. MUCH. BETTER. in every single campaign of GW1, including characters.
Are we going to have a real dual-wield skill?

I suppose they could do auto attack chain, as in – first #1 would be an attack from main hand, second #1 skill use would be an offhand weapon use, and the third would be a double strike. This would however be a problem if one would equip something like a shield or torch or warhorn in the offhand so I’d say it’s a fat chance. Unless Revenant can’t equip anything else in his offhand than a dagger/sword/mace/axe…
No it would be to obvious, i KNEW Vizier Khilbron was a baddie the moment i spotted him, and when everyone else in my family was feeling betrayed when he turned out to be the lich, i was laughing because i was right!
Plus hes in the personal story and if i do recall correctly, they wont kill off characters from the personal story in living story episodes so it doesnt cause confusion among newer players, and that thinking may carry over to the expansions too.
But hey, who knows! could happen, i hope not! but it could!
I made a mistake in the original post, I meant “personal story”, not “living story”. The whole topic here was meant to be about personal story only. Already edited.
plus he has Caledbog and is the closest first born to the pale tree(guessing as he was chosen to be her champion), if anything id say hes the one least likely to get corrupted.
That’s the beauty of it, it would show that no sylvari is really safe from Mordremoth’s reach. The hero that saved Tyria from Zhaitan only to serve another dragon now – it’s tragic and beautiful. It would be kind of a plot twist that I honestly missed in GW2’s personal story and something I really enjoyed in GW1, such as Vizier Khilbron turning out to be Undead Lich.
As much as I like Trahearne’s character (as opposed to most GW2’s characters) I think it would be a nice finale of his story if it turned out that after the Pact fleet’s crash we know nothing about him for a while only to find out later that he got corrupted by Mordremoth and became his lieutenant, leading a new army of mordrem sylvari. And at some point in the personal story we would get to kill him. What do you guys think?

As to people calling engineer with hammer a tinkerer, I wonder how many of them tried to tinker with something with a kitten SLEDGEHAMMER.
Demolisher seems much more fitting if you ask me.
Something where the shoulders aren’t 4 times bigger than my head would be nice.
Exactly the reason why I changed my human warrior’s body type, made him skinnier – so he doesn’t look ridiculous is his shadow assassin outfit.
I really hope that the map will keep track of whether you completed them at least once or not, just like renown hearts, after which the icon would change saying “you’ve played and completed this adventure”. It’s not like I would only like to do them once, but I really miss the old sense of map completion from the core GW2 maps, something you didn’t get in Southsun Cove, Dry Top or Silverwastes. I mean sure, there still are vistas and pois, but I want this mechanic back where when you hover mouse over the map name, it shows you how much of the map you’ve “completed”. In case of adventures it could also display your top score for each adventure when you hover your mouse over one on the map.
Necro greatsword does hint at a more eye-of-the-storm type necro, so I’d imagine maybe some mass-bleeds and perhaps a blood-is-power type risk/reward move (with increasing returns on number of enemies hit). Although the Mesmer greatsword did show that they can do less obvious things with weapons.
I’d like to see the animation of necro stabbing himself with the greatsword (seppuku style) as one of the weapon skills.
Why use Gliders if we have Waypoints in HoT?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

For the same reason you use legs in GW2, even though you have waypoints.
I hope that’s not their only use, because then we’ll fly around for 10 minutes and never glide again after we unlock all WPs.
So you’re saying that after unlocking all the waypoints on the map you don’t WALK at all? So in, say, WvW, you only dance under one/two waypoint(s) you can choose from?
Waypoints are only to close the distance a little bit if it’s very far away in many cases, from where you start walking.
I imagine you could sacrifice a trait line, some skills and an ability to use a weapon to get a new trait line, different skills in the place of the old ones and a new weapon to use.
Personally, I think the “polearm” used by Rytlock in the trailer is a new hammer skin. If you look closely, there’s a head like that of a mace or morning star on it – it might be an example of ArenaNet putting in some realistic two-handed blunt weapon skins as alternatives to those massive hunks of metal the size of the wielder’s head which if you do the maths probably weigh close to if not over a hundred kilos.
Frankly, it looks more like a staff to me. I mean, if we have warrior swinging his greatsword and a mesmer using his to channel his magic, why can’t a staff serve muliple purposes in the game either?
Frankly, I was too lazy to read the content of the post, but to answer the sentence from the topic – perhaps I wouldn’t mind that, if the story wasn’t so childish and shallow.
It’s been tangled with vine for some time now, finally got completely destroyed. I suppose that other waypoints are in danger too.
There will be at least 3 new zones in the future: one East and one North of Brisban Wildlands, and also one South-East of Mount Maelstrom… Hopefully during LS2
This may come up as a surprise to you, but there’s already a zone east of Brisban Wildlands – it’s called Kessex Hills.
I’m gonna assume you meant west.
To people who say there are no assassin style armors, I recommend to check again – there’s a lot. Of course, since thieves are not exclusive to Cantha, they have wider variety of armor styles. Besides, in case you haven’t noticed, armor skins are shared among all professions using same armor tier.
Thief is not Assassin; it’s just a baby version of it. Anet hasn’t given it the things it needs to Evolve into it’s final form.
Why, cause it doesn’t have perma shadow form that makes it uber tank? I think I’ll pass. Thief is everything that assassin is, and more.
yeah, now they can perma stealth instead. assassin was a much better class even on paper.
Wouldn’t you say though that a shady thief class that can stay stealthed all the time makes much more sense than assassin that can tank infinite amount of mobs?
I’m all for this idea, been thinking about it myself.

1. bo staff – martial artist kind of weapon, perhaps for thieves? optionally, could be replaced with two handed spear for more class diversity, still could be used like bo staff by thieves
2. crossbow – both one and two-handed, I could see it on warriors, engineers, thieves and rangers
3. off-hand scepter
4. whip – both main hand and off-hand weapon, could provide high control like stuns, pulls, knockdowns, immobilizes (besides, dual wielding whips would look so kitten!)
5. spellbook – offhand weapon, obviously for caster classes
6. scythe – I’m not crazy about GW1 dervishes but necro could definitely use some cleave and aoe power weapon in general
7. two handed (or should I say – forced dualwielding) fist/claw weapons
8. and lastly, similar concept as above but for mages; some sort of aura/floating runes etc around hands – could be either exclusively for two hands, but I could also see this kind separated as main and off-hand weapons
Since it’s pvp reward anyway, I think that it would be a good option if we received a whole SET of dungeon armor SKIN that can be applied onto the other items. This would keep the economical balance as well as satisfy pvp-only players that are currently complaining about how much harder it is to obtain new skins since the patch.
I know it has the skin of PvP Bone Staff that you can check out in your PvP locker
Same thing happening to me, see that you people have this issue for two days now and it haven’t been fixed yet so I guess I might be stuck on that mission for a while… Great.
