Hey all
“Local blue salad seeks new homey garden’’ was the other title idea xP
Soooo after about a year of breaks and sporadic log ins, I’m returning to the game with the PoF announcement and I would like to find a guild that I could be a part of.
A little about me:
I am an adult (27), on Aurora Glade server, GMT UK zone.
I do have work commitments and because I mainly work fri/sat/sun/mondays, I am often not around much in the weekends so a guild that is a little more active during the week would be a better fit for me if possible.
I prefer PvE content, and I can be persuaded to WvW/Edge a little if I’m in the mood, but I really don’t enjoy PvP.
I have experience in nearly all aspects in PvE except for Raids and the new Fractal levels which I’ve never done but I would like to give that a go at some point.
I do have a guild bank that I tap into now and then so if you require 100/99% rep please be aware of that.
I’ve been playing GW2 since betas, and I played GW1 for 7 years before that (gosh… when I put it down like that I have been here a while xD)
I’m a bit of a lore nerd with this game and will talk your ear off about it if you give me half a chance ^^’
I am a happy to go lucky kinda person, I don’t mind helping out with things even if it’s something as mundane as ‘I need company in this really annoying map/mission’, chances are I have a character who needs it too.
(oh and lost precipice gh would be a bonus – because I love that gh so much ^^)
If you think you have room for this lost salad then shoot me a message here or ingame
thank you!

Ok so long story short-ish, on monday night when I got home from work I attempted to log into my account, password was fine, was prompted for my mobile authentication.. to which the client repeatedly told me was wrong several times. I tried again via the forum and same thing.. incorrect code.
Then it told me my password was wrong so immediately I believe I’ve been hacked and send off a support ticket and change my password to my email addresses and do thorough scans of my laptop.
Tonight on a lark.. I tried to log into the forums via my tablet.. and I get in first time without any trouble, so I boot up my laptop and client – and yeh I log in straight away, code is correct no problems.. and I changed my account password just incase.
I’ve never had this problem with the authenticator before and I’m wondering if this is normal? I’ve spent the last 24 hours in a state of near anxiety waiting for Anet to reply to my ticket (which I’ve now cancelled) but now it seems like a false alarm.
Anyone else had this?
Well.. for an human elementalist you have access to worship all the gods – 5 in particular lore wise have a link to that profession.
So as you already gathered Balthazar is Fire, Dwayna is Air, Melandru is Earth, Grenth is Ice, and although Lyssa is the patron of Assassins and Mesmers her domain is also of Water.
Kormir as you’ve also rightly gathered is the patron of lost knowledge and truth seeking and justice, taking over the powers of Abaddon in GW1: Nightfall, who was the previous God of secrets/truth.
You said your Ele is a scholar so yes her link to Kormir is justifiable and backed up in lore. Since humans canonly worship/revere all 6 gods you can say ‘my ele’s patron is Kormir however she gives thanks to Balthazar for her skill with fire magic’. Most humans have one they prefer but still revere all as well.
I think Kormir is a good choice but you have to make it work for you.
I usually hop around Bloodstone Fen and Draconis Mons for the UM Bubbles. Just glide up and down the updrafts and ley lines for a bit. You can also buy some gathering tools with karma from some heart npcs in both areas which give UM on the side of the materials. It’s worth getting a few of those as you gather stuff in maps anyway. Otherwise events and stuff like normal
Has anyone had any success in talking to EE?…………
………Since GW support know there is a problem with that IP address and EE – shouldn’t they be able to talk to EE for us – and help with all the technical bits?
Nope, EE refuse to believe that anything is wrong regardless how many times I’ve tried to explain it on the phone. Even on their own forums the so called ‘experts’ deny a problem even exists and that it must be either us or or GW2. I’ve yet to see any Anet staff in this thread so I don’t even know if they are aware of the problem let alone working towards a solution. The very first post was almost 15 days ago and more and more people are reporting the same issue.
I’m at the end of my tether. Every evening for the past 4 days I’ve had to sit out and listen to my guildmates on skype have fun with all the new content
Yup, just like clockwork. I started playing around 5pm, come 6.30 dead on I get lags crashes and infinite screens. Please Anet this needs to be sorted.
South west UK here. I’ve called EE and they’ve told me there is nothing wrong with my line, but I literally cannot even get past the character selection anymore. On the extremely rare times I do, I’m stuck behind infinite loading screens, game crashes, extreme lag/rubberbanding and skill delays. This all starts from about 5pm/6pm onwards. It is unplayable and I’m at my wits end. Everything else is fine. No lag from any other game I play or the internet.
Talk to the Battle Historian. I’ve just done it and received my chest that I never got in the first place =]
Juggernaut’s effects on the Sylvari’s Cultural is just as impressive as it would be on ‘normal ’ plated armour/fabric.
However be aware that you’re not always completely ‘silver/chrome’ looking, depending on the light source of the area, your surroundings and their reflection and your dye combinations.
Pic1: Hoelbrak – absolutely stunning effects in almost all mountainous/snowy areas.
Pic2: Rata Sum – in an ‘open area’ with a light source the effects are similar but more muted.
Pic3: Rata Sum – this time I’ve gone to an area with a lot of textural activity, which is being reflected, not very bright, almost muddy but still has a metallic look.
Pic4: The Black Citadel – the combination of metal and fire makes this effect.
Pic5: Mount Maelstrom – dark area, rocky terrain, light source is the lava at my feet. Gives a rust like look.
Hope this helps
I had the same problem. Luckily though it wasn’t on my main but another character I use quite often. I re-downloaded the dat.file, and did a client repair. It seems to have cleared it up but I still have problem when trying to do dungeons. I made a thread last week about it but got no reply. I’m pretty sure it not our end but Anets. The best advice I can give is to repair or failing that, delete and re-install. Otherwise don’t play the character for a few days.
I have a bit of a problem where I cannot log into one of my characters. I’m not even sure if this is a bug but it doesn’t seem to be anything my end and I don’t know what to do.
It started happening a few days ago where I was in a dungeon with guildies when my warrior had this unbelievable lag spike inside the instance (AC at the time), I waited for about 10 mins for it to catch up when I was disconnected. Back on the char-select screen I could not log back into warrior so I hopped on guardian. Got into AC, completed it no problems, no lag, no DC, nothing.
I then tried again, logged onto warrior, was fine. Went into HotW, same thing happened. Huge lag spike then got booted. Hop on guard, no problems, carried on. Afterwards I manage after a couple of DC’s get back onto warrior, did some map completion, did marionette thinking this was a bit strange. I then waypoint into Rata Sum and I DC enroute. I’ve tried numerous times to get back in but I am locked out of playing this character now. This does not happen with any of my other 10 characters, I have since played for a couple hours on each, done some dungeons with no issues what so ever.
I’ve re-done the dat.file, repaired, and re-installed and nothing has fixed this.
Anyone else know of a solution? Or even had this problem? My friends think this is totally bizarre and its driving me nuts.
I originally had the guild backpack and after getting the flower I just wanted the skin on my original stats which are clerics+sapphire gem upgrade. Although it didn’t show the upgrade in the window it does seem to give priority on your upgrade rather then the infusion slot. My friend did the same thing and we’ve both kept our stats + our own upgrades and just swapped the skins over.
Hope this helps
I have 4 Sylvari currently, one for each cycle.
My Guardian Iiommar, being a gentle soul was born during Dawn. I see him to be wise, and almost like a father figure to my other sylvari, more likely to talk his way out of a problem and fight at a last resort.
Necro Lellenwyr is a Nightbloom. Extremely secretive and uncomfortable around large groups of people. However I always pictured him awakened just as dusk slipped into night as he does enjoy learning about anything and everything.
Thief Guiwennaiv is a Duskbloom, because she also loves to learn and explore. I saw her as an almost Lara Croft type of person. Dual pistols and all ^^
And last but not least my engineer Eudarynn of Noon. Act first think later which almost always gets him into trouble. Lucky Iio is almost always there to get him out of it..
I hate PvP, and I will avoid it if I can. I prefer exploring the world at my own leisure because to me that’s fun. I was absolutely dreading having to do WvW because quite frankly being steam rolled by zergs and enormous lag isn’t enjoyable.
But I bit the bullet so to speak, grabbed a staff, slapped on ‘Retreat’ and over the course of about a month I slowly got each PoI, Vista, and SP whilst helping take down enemies and keeps and camps. Every week I would check rotation to see on a lark if we were on a different colour and nope, Red every single week. But that didn’t deter me. I even had help from a couple of randoms who stealth me during a skill point where an enemy was trying to take me down (Thank you!).
You know, it was actually quite fun. And I’m glad I did it. I’m glad I went out and at least had ago. Yes I wanted that nifty little star next to my name that now doesn’t mean a whole lot but I know I earned it. It IS hard but it IS doable even on a server that is always bottom of the tier. And I would do it all over again.
It’s Trahearne’s face I’m afraid. Notice the lines that go from the inner eyes down to the nose, and although it’s a dark skin tone you can just about make out the leaves on his brow under the helm he’s wearing. Most of the medium class male courtiers have this face. Even in the Briathorn heart area where you are disguised as one this is the face you have.
Not the sexiest pic of Trahearne in the world but hope this clears it up
I likey dis one yesh
Oh wow, Now something like that I would definitely kill to have for my Guardian.
I also like more realistic type armour. Not that I don’t mind some flash, my engineer has CoF for instance, but would love to kit my male necro in something more like the medium sets, something that isn’t a robe. He’s going to be fighting dragons, some actual chainmail types for both light and medium classes would be of great help! Regardless of being the backline caster, something IS going to come into your melee range at some point. Might as well look as if you can take a hit.
Here’s mine:
Draconics: Midnight Violet and Breeze.
T2/T3 Cultural Combo: Mightnight Violet, Breeze and Ocean.
Vigil: Glacial Sky, Silver and Ocean.
I’m with OP. I really like Trahearne. If you pay attention to the dialogues both cutscenes and the the optional dialogue boxes in between you can see how he turns from a quiet solitary scholar who is practically terrified of his Wyld Hunt to someone who was given faith and confidence in himself by you, the Sylvari OC. He grew up with you and that’s what I like about him.
His voice actor could have said some parts a bit more convincingly but otherwise his words was very suited to his overall character.
I have since completed the storyline again on my Norn and I can see where people are coming from when they say “He just pops out of no-where and suddenly he’s doing a Kormir/taking over/better then me etc.” If you started on a race other then Sylvari his connection to Orr and Caladbolg doesn’t really make itself apparent until further on when you’re helping him complete the Source of Orr quest chain.
And yeah, if Anet kills him because of the whiners I’ll be extremely sad. We need more Trahearne love around here!
Me and and a few guildies did CoF Path 2 for the first time this evening. At the end after we killed the Eternal flame boss, my sylvari guardian said something like “Nice, can we go again?” in his really excited voice. It seems everyone else in mumble heard it and all said a resounding “No!” Gave me a good laugh, certainly very well timed. ^^
When they say “I gave it my all..” it’s usually when they are just about to go into the downed state.
What a wonderful idea. I have 47/50 but have no interest in getting the last title.
I have bits and pieces (materials, minis, platinum) that will only sit there and gather dust, so give me a message here or in game and I’ll give out some stuff.
Edit: Thank you to the 4 people who took up on my offer, bags are now lighter ^^ I have no more stuff to give! I hope it helps you achieve your HoM points

I think it does, or at least gets as close to your chosen glow as possible. Mine is a really light blue called ‘riverlet’ or something of the sort, but it looks white there. Might be different for other colours as I tend to stick with green/blue glows on my Sylvari.
Heh, I sorta have the same problem. The lack of trouser options for light armour is quite annoying. All mages = robes apparently. If I could wear something like the medium armours I would be extremely happy. My male necro wears a combo of the cultural and that’s what I’m sticking with for now. I’m not 100% sold on a lot however a few sets stick out.
T1/2 cultural – I think these are your best options, not as obviously robe like, which gets a thumbs up.
Ascalon Clergy Dungeon armour – I think this is the only trouser option (without any side skirt/panels) we have. It’s not bad but not amazing either.
Seer set – I think it’s called the Acolyte(exotic) set on crafting. It’s the set with the blindfold. I think this is one of the best we have, again not as obviously robe like as the skirt panels are separated.
Vigil – I do like this one but it’s kind of moot if you didn’t pick this order during your storyline.
The God Armour – Orrian temple karma vendors. On the PvP previews it’s either the Armageddon set (I’m pretty sure it’s this one) or the Outriders. Either way both are more embroidered ‘coat’ like I think.
I think you should just go through the previews in the HotM and just see which one takes your fancy.
Hope this helps somewhat
I am loving that colour scheme Juanjm
My little Nightbloom necro Lellenwyr ^^
Yup, as Arrow said some do some don’t. Namely the T1 armours don’t, or at least I haven’t noticed any difference. Medium T2/3 do slightly, as does the T2 light. I’m not entirely sure about the others.
I have the male T2Heavy/T3 Helm combo and they glow but only when my ‘shader’ setting is on medium or high – As you can see from the pictures. When on low my guy’s facial markings/eyes still glow just not the armour. Maybe toggle with your graphics settings to see.
Glad I’m not the only one who noticed this, mine does it too. I’ve had a look on all my Sylvari: 4, all different face options, 3 Male, 1 female) and it only seems to affect the males regardless of the face option. I reported it way before Christmas but nothings changed. A little thing I agree but slightly annoying nonetheless.
Female: 3
Male: 1, 3, 4, 6
I generally prefer the males faces
I would love it if you could reply story missions. I loved doing it in GW1 and don’t see why they can’t do it here. But yes I agree to give the choice. Like on your story tab implement a button saying ‘Replay this chapter’ or something to that extent.
I absolutely adore the male T2 Heavy (Bar the helm), the neck part looks fine to me. I wouldn’t of thought Anet would change it just because a few don’t like it. If it bothers you then find something else to fit what you’re after. For example, many many people like the Nightmare heavy, but the fact that the skirt bit only covers one side really bugs me. I won’t ever get it, but I won’t ever ask for it to be changed either just to suit my personal preference
I have had to abandon playing today. I have never had so much lag and so many disconnects since I started playing. It has been impossible since the last update. I’m on Euro server: Aurora Glade.
9/10 I think it suits a Sylvari and I love the way it sounds if you roll the R. Flows nicely
My thief Guiwennaiv (Pronounced Gin-aiv) Welsh for luck/happiness.
As Sylvari are based off the plant kingdom and such come in infinite varieties of colour combinations, there isn’t really a ‘typicial colour’ for a Sylvari. If you look around the Grove there are hundreds of combinations on the NPC’s and even more so on the players themselves.
If you want something simple then yeah pick a green shade you like and then dust it off with a different colour for the pattern and hair/leaf style.
I would however recommend just playing around with the choices on character creation. Treat them like a painting, mix and match until you are happy.
If you want inspiration, go to the Screenshot Topic and browse around.
It’s a mixture of Cultural and other heavy pieces. I can show you on male but I think Female is the same or at least similar. Chest + Legs Cultural Tier 2, Hands + Feet Order of Whispers, Shoulders is Ascalonian.
The Guardian Trainer Mackleigh just outside the Grove in Caledon is the exact model used on the selection screen. Hope this helps
The kits are slightly bugged, I’ve used two on both my Sylvari alts just to change some minor details but for some reason the glow doesn’t show in the make over tab on my female Sylvari but it does on my male. I had to pick a colour on female, accept the change and hope it suited my tonal scheme which luckily it did.
In response to OP, my main guy has the violet night and a purple dusting skin tone. I used the light blue glow at max, I think it was called River (or similar). Hope this helps
Q: How many Asura does it take to paint a wall?
A: Depends on how hard the Norn is throwing them.
My Guardian Iiommar Love the Tier 2 Cult Heavy, but Tier3 helm was so worth the gold.
Had this problem for days. Tried Sinth’s method and it worked first time. Cheers
