Idea for a revamped Diamond Skin:
- Swapping to earth attunement grants immunity to the next X conditions applied to the elementalist.
- Or swapping to earth attunement grants the elementalist immunity to conditions (or reduced duration) for X seconds.
Adds more interesting play for the elementalist and the opponent, and makes Diamond Skin actually useful in teamfights.
right then i missunderstood the thread i thought it deals with a “classic” 1vs1 for example behind the mill, because there is no difference . doesnt matter if you fight the 1vs1 in 1on1 arenas or in wvw
There’s still a pretty big difference between a 1v1 in PvP and in WvW, mostly due to more stat combinations in WvW, higher crit damage availability and the existence of food.
Also, to contribute to the discussion: rangers and guardians are both a lot stronger in 1v1 than a lot of people realize, but the proportion of players that run roaming/1v1 builds with those two classes is very low compared to mesmer/warrior and especially thief.
Had some good fights this matchup. So many d/d thieves, so little time.
Oh hi Kaineng. You’re not supposed to be here.
Props go out to my twin (but in Asura form) warrior Mallechos from [Npth] and the condition engineer from [Ns]. Two of better players I’ve come across during this matchup.
Hey twin! Yeah, those fights were lots of fun and it was a real surprise to find someone rocking the exact same build as me.
A /wave and a /salute go out to all the players I’ve fought this matchup!
Found my twin today. How many other sword/mace warriors could there be out there? (Anecdotally, at least one).
Hard to find good 1v1 fights against CD – they all seem to turn into 1vX. Oh well. It’s good practice.
Good luck out there everyone!
:D Thank you very much. Likewise can be said about Npth – We ran in to a guardian from that guild at Umberglade, who managed to stay alive for a VERY long time considering we had two of us and two other pugs wailing on them. Thoroughly impressed, and nothing but respect from us.
Wondering which of our guardians it was. I’m the blue-haired afro guardian, but we also have a couple t3 norns.
Also, kudos to your guild’s asura mesmer for creating a thoroughly disturbing look. You know, the one with the eyes.
If I ever see that tag (and I haven’t, yet, so they’re probably not a huge guild and thus easily identifiable), I’ll be sure to let them know. But could you pass the same message on to this guardian, here? Just add that trying to kill siege whilst he was up there was pretty sad.
Will do. If I see that sort of stuff happening, I’ll call it out and try and get it to stop.
And just wanna say: I’ve fought members of [roam] a few times, and it’s always guaranteed to be a fun fight. Keep it up!
Members of IoJ: can you let this guardian know that it’s impolite to barge in without knocking?
Yeah, I’ve yet to figure out how thats calculated. If we’re in the lead points wise, how do we have a negative number in evalutation (on http://mos.millenium.org/na anyways). Anyone know how that number is calculated? How do we get a positive number, or even a negative numer?
It’s based on the servers’ current Glicko ratings. DH’s is 1463 and IoJ’s is 1150. The system predicts that, based on the ratings, DH should be ahead substantially. As the scores are fairly even, the ratings are adjusted closer together (i.e. DH down, IoJ up).
Necros if you are doing it wrong if not condition
Thief you are doing it wrong if not Stealth Backstabbers
Ele you are doing it wrong if not D/D

Scepter/dagger ele is seen a lot more than d/d is currently, and s/d thief has been a popular choice in addition to the standard d/p. Both ele and thief have more variety in tournaments than mesmers do. Nearly every mesmer is running the same 20/20/0/0/30 shatter build. I don’t disagree that more viable builds would be a good thing, but I think your examples are off.
Lately I’ve been noticing the occasional Illusionary Berserker not showing up at all when I cast it (the spell goes on cooldown, the cast animation plays, but no berserker appears), and I think I’ve isolated the circumstances under which it occurs.
If I summon an Illusionary Warden, immediately swap weapons and summon a berserker, the berserker will not show up. It appears that autoattacking or using any skills between the two phantasm casts prevents this from happening. As far as I can tell, this is a bug that only occurs when casting those two specific phantasms in that order within a short time frame.
I’m using a standard phantasm build (20/20/0/25/5) if that information’s important.
Had some nice fights with an SF s/p thief from [LH] outside SM tonight; those were lots of fun!
Signed, the [EO] s/d thief with the tricorn hat.
And fudge. We have fudge.
