I’m looking to buy something from BLING-9009, but I can select core stats or HoT stats.. is there somewhere that lists which stats belong to which so I can make sure I buy the right piece?

Path of Fire music

Was the music from the trailer the official Path of Fire theme song or just trailer music? I liked it for sure, but if it’s in game music at all, it seemed more like the music that would play in instances rather than a true theme song. At least the parts we heard anyway. Has there been any of the music released yet, cause I’d love to listen to it.

I wish I had a screen shot or remembered the NPC’s name, but in the clock tower JP staging/waiting area, there’s an NPC.. I think it was a char? It had a lantern on a pole. I would LOVE to have something like that as a staff skin!

All of that. But like most of this game, outside sources are key.

It’s a love/hate relationship that I have with this game. I love the community support this game has and the third party sources you can resort to, but I hate (whether the chicken or the egg came first) that it’s almost established that we have to rely on them.

Semi-side note: here’s to the wiki editors! You the true MVP!

When I group up with somebody, especially when helping them with personal story, is there a way I can see their next destination? Like the green symbol on the map and a description of where to go for the next instance.

Why is Tiami so small?

Here’s some dialog from season 1 that explains:

Braham Eirsson: So your golem’s dead. Why don’t you just walk out of here?
Taimi: Same reason you don’t fly out: because I can’t. My ears, how thick are you?
Taimi: See these legs? They don’t work right. I can’t walk very far unassisted.
Braham Eirsson: Uh…I uh…sorry. I didn’t know!

[…]

player: Are you injured? What happened to your legs?
Taimi: I was born this way. My legs were never strong enough to carry me very far. Don’t pity me, though. I hate pity. And I don’t need it because I do just fine for myself.
player: I can see that. Can your legs be cured?
Taimi: That remains to be seen. The degenerative effects of my condition may spread to other parts of my body as I get older, but for now it’s just the legs.
player: How far can you walk?
Taimi: I can get in and out of Scruffy when I need to. For example, I can walk from my bedroom to the water closet. Just don’t ask me to be your partner in a dance marathon.

A peak into hackers heads

Lot’s of people giving out good cyber-security tips. I love it!

Bonus tip here since it hasn’t been mentioned. This may be a given, but if the password you used before getting hacked is used for ANY other services, CHANGE THEM NOW!! And since MMO’s in general are notorious hacker targets, even if you’re someone who likes using the same password for everything (oh I cringe at how many people do that), AT LEAST make your MMO’s and Steam passwords different.

Oh, and I’m a big fan of Dashlane password manager for what it’s worth.

I know we’ve barely had time to explore since the patch, and I’m probably just missing it, but has anyone found the “challenging group-farming spot for leather” that was mentioned last week?

Core Tyria Mastery Idea

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Maniak.7069

Just throwing an idea out there.. I propose a core tyrian mastery where you can quickly switch between builds.

An example would be for my necro. Sometimes I want to play around with a power build, and sometimes I want to play around with a condi build. It’d be really nice I could go to the hero panel and make the whole switch (weapons, armor, specializations, etc.) in one click.

I think that’s something where you could add a whole new mastery track (tier one just just changes weapons, second is armor, etc.).

Storage expander BLTP problem

How do you think they should rephrase the descriptions of the two upgrades to avoid someone else being confused in the future?

Good question. First thing that popped into my mind would be expanding its name to “Crafting Material Storage Expansion” rather than just Storage Expansion. Just by having “crafting” in the title I think would help remind people that it’s not all items.

Second, the description could be something like, “Increase the stack size of items in your Material Storage tab by 250.” By calling out the Material Storage tab by name, I think others would catch it better than the current “Increase the stack size of all stored materials by 250.” Now after a day of reading through threads, I’ve learned that the words materials and items are not as synonymous in gw2 as they are elsewhere. Knowing that now, they’re not wrong in their description (which is why I’m not irate at them or anything), but it’s easy for lingo-ignorant people like myself to make the mistake I did.

I’m commenting just not to complain, but to bump this back up on the threads so hopefully it will help at least one other player in the future.. Lesson of the day: “materials” is a very specific meaning in GW2, so read carefully any time you see it referenced.

I just made the exact same mistake.. I’ve been saving up gold in the game for so long and thought it was finally time to treat myself and buy something from the trading post. There’s so many other things I would have rather spent weeks worth of gold on. It’s frustrating and disgruntling at the very least.

Torch 5 still useless?

I think I’d like it a lot better if it was higher burst with less duration. Think more like a shout than a flamethrower kind of effect. I tend to only use the skill as a filler when absolutely everything else is on cooldown or if I know my target it completely immobile to get max hits, but then it lasts so long that I interrupt it halfway through to get back to a rotation.

Either that or a wider AoE so a target doesn’t have to be completely immobilized to get more hits. Between its cone shape and obvious (but really cool!) animation, it’s pretty useless in pvp.

Help me pick, sell me a profession.

Personally, I like necro. I’ve found that by switching around weapons and traits, I can really bounce my necro into any game mode and take on different roles. But honestly, that may just be my familiarity with that profession compared to my other characters, so I very well may be biased.

And ultimately, the same advise I think everybody will include… play what you have fun with! Plus, what DarkMonk mentioned already, any given patch could completely change a profession and how desired they are in different game modes. There’s also talks of a new expansion coming at some point, and those could really flip everything on its head.

On top of the hardware suggestions, you may want to experiment with key bindings in general, even if you’re only going to use a normal keyboard and mouse. I’ve never really found default key bindings in MMOs very useful. There’s all sorts of youtube videos you can find on people making suggestions. Find something that works for you, but give each keybinding configuration a real chance. Changing your key binding feels awful at first, especially if you already have the muscle memory for a different configuration, but if you give it a real chance, it can make a HUGE difference.

And if you have the money, there’s all kinds of hardware options that make things easier as well. There’s always those razor keyboards people love (I personally have never used one to judge though), and I’m a walking advertisement for the Logitech G502 mouse. I love that mouse! It has just the right number of buttons, and they’re in good and natural locations. I’ve talked a lot of my friends to switching to that mouse, even ones who previously played with far more expensive mice.

As for what profession, there’s already a lot of feedback on that above, and they’re all suitable. I personally like Necro exploiting soul reaping and death magic traits to increase overall survivability. Long story short, Necros already have high HP, plus using death or reaper shroud adds even more.

Legendary Mordrem on Silverwastes

Unfortunately, it takes raw map population and team work across all the forts. From my understanding, even if you have one fort built all the way up, if the others are lacking, the chances of a spawn are still low.

If you’re in a guild, try setting up a guild event in Silverwastes.

If you’re soloing, try using lfg. Put in the description that you’re trying to get legendary spawns. You may be surprised by how many people show up when you use lfg, especially if you have patience for the group to grow. From what I’ve seen, lfgs like that tend to grow exponentially. Painfully slow at first when there’s less than 10 players, but once people see there’s a decent sized group going, they’re more likely to join in.

There’s a lot of people still looking for that one last Silverwaste legendary.
