Hello there!

If you’re looking for a casual guild who dabbles in all aspects of the game then you’ve found your people! In terms of members we are a very small guild however those already with us have been playing since launch and are very experienced with the game.

So what kind of people are we looking for? Anybody! No matter your knowledge or experience we are happy to have you with us, we don’t want to rule over members with an iron fist or demand anything like full representation, simply to give those without a guild or group a chance to find new friends and have fun with others in-game.

So if that all sounds appealing don’t hesitate to join up, if you want an invite then whisper/mail one of the following people in-game (or let me know on the forums here)

In order of who you should try to contact first:

OP, how many MMOs have you played on launch day, or tried to access the second the content was available? I’m guessing this is your first time, since you would other wise realize that the launch time is the same time that content gets launched for MMOs amd games with online gameplay, developed in North America mind you, launch. Since Anet doesn’t have offices in other countries, this means that the time is global.

This has nothing to do with them being inconvenient, and everything to do with the fact that most games developed in North America are located on the West Coast and in the Paciffic Time Zone. If they had their EU only megaservers based in Europe, then the launch for Europe might be, might be mind you, persuaded to launch at 00:00 UTC, or midnight as it would be in Greenwich, England for the European players. I wouldn’t hold my breath for that since doing so wouldn’t likely be the case anyway, just look at how Blizzard does its’ global launches: Midnight Pacific Time (UTC – 7).

The reason for this is simple: one time for the entire world means the least amount of coordination and administrative effort involved. Also, launching at a time when the majority of players are likely to be either asleep, at work, or soon to be so, makes sense, as it gives them a few more precious hours to find and isolate problems that they know are coming and get started on fixing them.

I think you’ve misinterpreted my post and my points.

This isn’t the first launch of an expansion I’ve been present for, as I did mention previously, in fact if you look back you’ll see I directly compare how WoW launched its expansion at Midnight for Europe and mid-day for America which I found to be a better kind of time and I’d of assumed a better time for most to at least be there for the launch rather than missing it altogether like I and many others who have work will be tomorrow.

I’d like to point out to all those reading this thread that my intention is not that I simply want to jump into HoT as fast as possible but rather I want to be there for what is a very fun and generally good community experience of the launch of the expansion, THAT is what is important to me – I am fully aware it will be buggy and likely broken but that really isn’t the point of being there to see the launch.

I simply believed that the times I mentioned above would fit better for a majority of people to actually see the expansion launch thus letting more people experience that cool buzz around a new expansion, a lot of people here are twisting what I’m saying into very different discussions.

My point is release at time when not many play so bug affect less people and they can fix over night with less player affected by bug and possible time down. Then when busy time for EU/NA maybe less bug and new build to do and affect less people so less complaint.

Sorry Anet did not call you to ask what time you want for launch.

Well no reason to get snarky about it, I understand where you are coming from and I get the idea behind it, I just think its overall unimportant – I don’t think, all things considered, that people really care about a buggy launch because they get wrapped up in the launch itself and as you’ve pointed out yourself, its guaranteed to be buggy no matter when they launch it.

I’ll take my launch with a side order of buggyness plax, yeah just let me be there – I don’t mind ;00000000000 kktyvmthnxloadsanet33333

But in all seriousness I’m still massively excited about the expansion, this really is only a small niggle in the grand scheme of things.

No matter what time they release it will not be a good time for some player in world. Should be glad arena net will probably be up all night their time work on patch after release. Think of how they feel be up all night so you get less bug when you get home from work to play.

Well that serves my point better

If they released it later in the English/French time zone they’d be able to work on that stuff during the day rather than this very odd incredibly late American release they are doing (it’ll be what like almost midnight for them when it launches? something bizarre like that)

They’re kind of putting it on themselves aren’t they, with these odd times?

And I know there isn’t an ‘ideal time for everyone’ of course not but they could at least try to give most of us a decent launch window don’t you think? or should we all have a bad launch just because of this?

If you have work/school then I’d say that release time is great for eu players, since most likely there will be problems at start (“Never play on release/patch day”). When you get home you hopefully get to play somewhat fixed game.

But its all part of the fun and frustration of launch, I enjoy being there for it – trying to get into the game and maybe one of your friends succeeds and all that jazz.

It’s just a good time to be at the actual launch of something, especially with other people who want to play, even if it is buggy or not working properly its more of the event itself that matters.

I don’t see why you’re complaining, it releases at 2 am for me.

I suppose its because it is a time that fits almost literally no-body except the few who have specifically booked the day off/just had the day off anyway or people who don’t work at all.

Its such an odd time for release.

Is this just me being selfish or does anybody else feel like the release time for Europe is just awful!

8am on Friday is pretty well… crap? I was hoping for a later in the day release as we saw with the likes of WoW, which tried to make it good for both sides of the pond by giving Europe a somewhat late at night launch and America a mid-day launch but this… is only really good for Americans and even then its not great because it’ll be the late kind of times Europe usually got!

Am I alone in this or what? I mean I love pouring hours into GW2 and I really wanted to be there for the launch of HoT but I’ve got work ANet! like almost all of the rest of the working world

(Guess I should of booked the day off Q_Q)

Why do you play female characters as a guy?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Marc Warner.6417

Hey,

So I was asked this by a friend today. We both PvP with our thieves and he saw that my thief was a girl and asked this question: “Why would you play a girl if you’re a dude?”. And I was not able to answer that because I truly have no idea

I only know that as a straight guy, 18 of my 36 characters in Guild Wars 2 are female and the other half male. As for why I am quite confused as well. So here’s to you who might have done the same thing. Why do we do that?

Check this video out, its rather interesting:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5s2V-K1vwE

But personally I’ve only had very few female characters throughout all the MMO’s I’ve played and the same goes for GW2. I have a female Asuran because I feel the males were rather hideous most of the time :P not the best excuse but seeing as I haven’t purchased extra character slots its also nice to have at least one female out of the five.

Beards please!

Weapons w/ Assassins Destroyer Dagger stats

Are there any other daggers sharing the stats:

+90 Precision
+64 Power
+5% Critical Damage

As in can it bought anywhere else under a different name or something, using a currency rather than crafting or buying from the trading post.

I was having a look at the weapons sold by dungeon vendors and couldn’t find anything with Assassin’s/Explorer stats.

Cheers.

Alright well, I guess to finish this off, I’ve read all the posts but still heavily disagree.

The bases for my argument is in fact that the achievements here a mainly hunted by PvE players and that the content is updating the Lore, which concerns PvE players far more than PvP’s unless you happen to do both which just makes you fine and dandy, but that isn’t all of us.

My original point, although put across poorly, was that they shouldn’t bother putting achievements based on Lore updates in World vs World which is undoubtedly Meta and frankly won’t concern people only doing WvW in the game, if you happen to do both a lot (that is PvE and PvP) then that’s great for you but again its not the case for everyone.

Finally, something that is a real problem with half the responses here is that they seem to think I’m asking for everything for free and easy, which is completely wrong, I still want the challenge of the jumping puzzle involved but I never asked for PvP and none of the other Temp Content has ever asked me to be an avid PvP’er as well as a PvE’er, excluding the NONE STAT BASED mini games which only a fool would think is the same as World vs World.

But nonetheless, this seems to be something that people are divided on and is a matter of opinion so there is no point discussing it any longer, thank you all for your responses.

To all those saying that I wish to ‘remove PVP from a PVP map’ I’d point to the fact that the Jumping Puzzle in Eternal isn’t actually a reachable part of the map without teleporting into the Jumping Puzzles zone, meaning it wouldn’t be hard at all to change into a none PvP area.

I’d like to say those who suggest a buff for those who don’t wish to fight but to have the challange of the puzzle alone as the best solution to this.

I’m fine with just sitting out of the Jumping Puzzle, I’m not fine that If I want to get all the achievements for the latest temp content, which is literally all PVE excluding this one achievement, that I have to do PVP, it make no sense!

The Temp content achievements don’t aim at World Vs World at all and yet force PVE players to throw in and attempt it despite not wanting to do PVP.

I hope that clears it up and clears up the fact that I don’t want PVP removed because I don’t like PVP just because its forcing those who don’t want to fight to have to when in actuality PVP is nothing to do with the overall content or what your trying to achieve.

Nerf Black Powder please.

From my own WvW experiences vs thief as guardian,… I get killed by them plenty and I kill plenty of them in stealth.

I think this is a case of people not realizing characters have options that balance things out. If you come across a thief made to take on melee and a guardian ready to take on theives, it’s an even enough battle.

Namely: there are ways to remove conditions, everyone has dodge, stealth and invulnerable are very different. Fighting a theif just requires more tactical sense as it should.

In WvW, if you come across someone traited to take out your class, which can be made from any class, you need one of three things to win:

- good dynamic with a team mate
- highly skilled at battle
- or just more numbers

This is good in my opinion.

Its a tad bullkitten to expect everyone to be have a spec just to fight one specific class, especially when you likely to be fighting 9 other potential classes, I’ve fought Thieves and Mesmers and the like and frankly I do find them kittens to fight, they just have kitten -arsie around mechanics is all but yes, I think they do need to be a nurfed a little.

I have a great suggestion. Please stop putting Jump Puzzles in your game. They are too frustrating to complete. I know a bunch of Anet fanbois are going to include in the comment section below “But we love JPs, they’re great fun”. Well, let me give you a more accurate portrait of what your players think about your jump puzzles. I have not met 1 single person in game who enjoys them. Not a single one. My guild hates them, my gf hates them because her computer can’t make quick precise jumps. The people in there trying to complete them hate them. They’re annoying, and they’re lazy programming because you should be putting real content in your game like dungeons or actual puzzles. I write this as I sit in your new Kites Over Celadon JP, which you made just about as bad as the Mad King’s Clock Tower. Look Anet, seriously, cut it out with the jump puzzles all ready and listen to your fan base.

I know a few people that hate them, more that can stand them but aren’t very good at them and as for myself, I think they’re alright they aren’t actually very difficult when you give them some time and to be fair, its not ArenaNets fault that your Girlfriends computer can’t run the game properly or at least enough to do some platforming.

I agree that they should be focusing more on perma content like new dungeons and such but I don’t think that Jumping Puzzles particularity take away from those developments.

I have to agree that the once per day thing feels a bit forced, for instance, I’m a bit late on this content because I was on holiday and only started everything a little while ago, so unless this lasts until the end of the month I’ll be an achievement down.

Removing PvP in WvW Jumping Puzzles

Marc Warner.6417

Hi all, first time I’ve made a suggestion and as the title says its the suggestion to remove player killing in the World vs World Jumping Puzzles, either that or remove them entirely or at very least stop putting temp content achievements that require doing said Jumping Puzzles.

The reason I make this suggestion, as a lot of you will already know, is because every single time I attempt to simply do the puzzle I get over run by players simply trolling the puzzle, I’ve attempted to fight them however there is often more than one and I just don’t know anybody willing to be a body guard and frankly I shouldn’t need to resort to that.

I understand that it is there for WvW oriented players to also experience Jumping Puzzles however I feel like letting players kill each other here just promotes the trolling behavior, which obviously only works out nicely for the trolls.

Above all else it just ruins the experience of getting 100% with the temp content and makes me and I’d assume others not bother with it meaning people miss out because someone wanted to get their thrills, if ArenaNet want to support players like that then I suppose I’m boned but I hope its not the case and would appear not to be when you look at other aspects of the game.

So to summarise, giving people the ability to kill other players who simply wish to finish the Jumping Puzzle makes the content literally impossible for some to complete and not to mention the nasty behavior this system promotes is all a bit naff and frankly, at least in my opinion, needs to be changed.

Apologies for the wall of text!
