Same issue bro, you are not alone at all
Looking mainly to focus on PvX, primarily a PvE player but not weary of WvW, though not avid in PvP.
THANK YOU Game Client…
1 minute away from killing Mordremoth and you crash me. AGAIN.
Seems moreover I’m not the only one with this issue. Please fix this Arenanet, or at least make missions like Fractals that can be rejoined.
Right now my client crashing screwed up the game for 4 other people. And no, I’m running a relatively high end system.
Hi all
I’d much like to buy the expansion early on, but I can’t since I have neither Visa nor paypal. I can buy every game I want through Steam using SOFORT banking with my regular card.
Why does Arenanet not support something like SOFORT?
And is there any other way to buy this game with a regular card?
Thx in advance
Simple question every time they go on about the scout of Zhaitan it’s about how he was spotted in that city before it was sacked. But what city was this? Was it even of any importance or just a glorified fishing village? Any ruins anywhere to visit?
Well it all comes down to a matter of taste I love High Fantasy more. I only think that as it stands it’s to unbalanced as far as immersion go. Cannons, guns, ok – actually this is where it should stop for me… Thundercatmobiles? Naaah
Well time has moved on and it was sort of logical these elements were gonna be in the game.
I agree with you on the thundercat mobiles, but they do look awesome
All in all if you consider the sheer amout of content in this game and then look at the amount of steampunkish stuff it’s neglectable.
You can walk for hours without even seeing stuff like that and for the Charr regions it really sets the mood for the industrial revolution they are in.
Yes time did move on, but in a fantasy setting that generally does not (have to) coïncide with technological advancement – the general argument being that there is no need for technology when you have magic, etc. And as a general rule you could say that Fantasy RPG settings are characterised by their immobility in this field, which makes them so kitten interesting. I don’t say I don’t dislike steampunk, just that I like the – as mentioned by another poster – “medieval” fantasy a hell of a lot more. And I could play either one, but mixing is what I generally find unsuitable.
The main issue is that it looks horribly imbalanced in terms of setting. Humans still dable with swords and bows while Charr have tanks and Thundercat-mobiles? True that in terms of gameplay this doesn’t matter but the point I want to make has nothing to do with the gameplay just with the setting, since a game is more than just how it plays but also the amount of immersion it has.
Walking into the Black Citadel really broke immersion for me. Even the Asura’s technology at least looks feasible as it are magically powered device and they look as such. The Charr vehicles are just a step to far imho.
Just making the mental exercise of thinking away all the dragons and simply think of how the races of Tyria would interact in your average geopolitical situation would mean that the Charr would steamroll all of Tyria in a matter of decades and it would mean that to stand up to them you’d need to be on the same technological level, hence all nations within the span of years would need to have their own Thundercatmobiles – except for the Asura, they have Golems
That’s my beef: it breaks immersion.
Not sure if this is the right thread for this topic
Does anyone hold this opinion? I’d like to think of GW 2 as a fantasy game… Guns, cannons… pfff, okay… Flying airships, okay… But Risen ROFL-copters? Charr Thundercat mobiles? It’s ridiculous. This game seems to be evolving in the same way the Fable franchise did starting of as fantasy and ending in ridiculous steampunk.
I’m just hoping that the developpers don’t choose to go down this path any further or next Guild Wars 3 will be more akin to SWTOR than to GW 1 in terms of setting
Edit: got on Desolation server

I’m a currently European based Far Shiverpeaks player, would playing on the JQ server cause me specific problems in terms of connectivity? I’m interested in your guild, I’m mostly a PvE – WvW player.
Hi,
I’m a 25-year old casual (depends on amount of time and interest, right now: a lot of time but little interest, hence me posting XD) player. Basically what I’m looking for is a guild that a) uses english as the standard tongue to communicate b) is into PvE (exploring of dungeons and stuff, I like exploring haha) c) also has an emphasis on WvW.
I’m not looking for a hardcore guild that requires heavy commitment in the sense of weekly WvW events and stuff were you need to be present and all that. Basically it’s very well possible that I can in fact commit to quite an extend but I can’t say for sure, depends on real life issues ofc I’d rather not be making empty promises you see.
My current homeworld is “Far Shiverpeaks”. My questions pertain to switching worlds: what do I need to know about this?
Thx and I hope to find a great and fitting guild
I’ll third this topic. I’m on the Far Shiverpeaks server and this Skill Quest has been bugged for days in a row :s Also stuck on 99% map completion in this area. Pretty frustrating.
Aren’t those Sylvari like heads (looking at the ears)?
Calling them evil implies that they are partial to our set of morals. As such dragons aren’t as much immoral as they are amoral
Most notable thing about it: it’s alive. A living statue of enormous proportions. As I see it this is not related to any race of giants or something of the sort, seems a magically imbued structured. The 6 Gods most be linked to this as well imo. I doubt humans magic chained that thing to the cliff nor that it is simple human magic that we’re using (eg the hammer) to break it free. Whoever put it there did so with reason.
Possibly that should be the case given that iirc Orr and Arah were the residence of the gods in ancient times, which explains the magnitude of the the various structures fascinating how they haven’t collapsed yet.
I can’t stop but wandering what the towering structure over the Caer Shadowfain Waypoint in Cursed Shore is. And how on Tyria is it still standing? What magic is this! Does anybody have any background info on it?
