I’m not sure how many quality of life improvements this fractal needs since at the moment most people know what to do and how to do it. For a fractal that’s been around for so long you won’t find a lot of groups that don’t have at least one person that can explain what’s what to the rest.
I’d much rather get a new fractal instead^^
Also most of you points would make my life much easier. I’d like to avoid that since this fractal is pretty easy to begin with even on T4 and that’s definitely not a good thing
And mesmer will still be viable without it. Just with less power damage.
Also no other condi amulet was used because of how ridiculously strong it was in comparison. And Warriors were only just barely viable because of it. Anet should focus more on balancing traits instead of relying on amulets.
But sure, you want an obviously overtuned amulet instead. Well I guess Anet should start introducing Runes of Perplexity cause that sounds amazing for warriors and mesmers!
Do you not see the logic failures in your post?
What the hell means ‘no other condi amulet was used’ when the only classess besides mesmer that were using are in a state of ‘barely viable’?
Don’t get me wrong. I agree mercenary amulet should be removed from the game, but you are putting the cart before the horse (if indeed there’s a chance of that vague balancing ever happening, considering their track record). It should’ve been removed when there’s a clear problem in front of it and you fixed the traits, not now when there’s ONE build that overruses it.
How the kitten do you call an amulet overtuned when there’s one class with one build taking too much advantage of it is just beyond me
People were already calling Mercenary amulet OP BEFORE it was even released. These last few months just confirmed it.
What the kitten did it confirm? Can someone explain what did it confirm except that one mesmer build who was considered mostly op because of condi spam, too many ways to mitigate damage, access to excellent mobility and portal plays and moa
True – they might have a bit of an easier time switching to another amu, but since the builds aren’t OP whatsoever, why remove the amu that works best for them?
Because mesmers needed a nerf and just like with moa they found the easiest / laziest way to do it
Who cares if warrs would’ve barely made the meta (maybe – just maybe). Who cares that necros are dead now.
Since quite some time anet has been listening to the fans. I mean also look they nerf necro (I mean they nerf him into oblivion, but hey – they did it!).
And about the warr – I might be presumptuous, but considering the sorry state the warr has been since quite a long time ago, I think most are so happy about the buffs last patch that they don’t mind this at all – we’re just really really glad that next season maybe we won’t get flamed from playing warr in ranked (the kind you receive for not rerolling the class before the start)
See? Catering to the needs of the fans
Why?
Only mesmers and warriors use it – warrior doesn’t seem too strong with it at all and with reference to mesmer it’s not the amulet which is the root of the problem.Only Mesmers and Warriors? Lol….
More like every class uses it.
This kind of mentality some people have is just amazing.
It’s amusing how people support anet destroying build diversity and yelling give me more build diversity at the same time. And yes the mercenary amulet needed to go, but this is probably the worst moment to send it away and incredible lazy fix to mesmer (just like moa of course) while killing quite a number of builds that nobody was complaining about.
Future looks bright

Or let druids be happy that they finally have pets that don’t miss 9 out of 10 attacks
I’m on neither side but I do understand why the bitterness in his post
Haven’t played much thief, but I think he means that skills like rapid fire or unload will follow you in stealth and hit you until they finish the channeling. It is pretty weird and it should be removed – not sure if it was intended in the first place.
Ps: Stop the pew pew. Even I barely understood what you wanted to say-.-
Why are you destroying build diversity instead of toning down the one class that relied on the amulet to be so strong ? Why not go for fixing the class instead ? Why do you have to ‘fix’ other builds that had no problem whatsoever
I do understand why Mercenary Amulet wasn’t a good idea to be begin with, but it still only gave birth to that one extremely strong build. Alongside that one there were other ones for different classess – something for that the much needed build diversity a lot of people complain about.
Maybe the patch before season 3 will surprise me (don’t believe it’s possible though).
And R.I.P necro. Cause it really needed another nerf. If the last patch downed him, this one just stomped it.
Problem is they want delete rev from the game. If you can walk over something without using brain that means it is balanced. If it causes a bit of troubles to deal with the class is obviously op and need to be nerfed into ground so that they can walk over it.
Great mentality there ! Really helpful post – totally in line with the discussion. A truly powerfull argument: either it’s op, either it’s 0. Really amazing logic there.
What the warrior wanted to say to you – whining about this particular change – is that you shouldn’t be doing that. At the moment rev is a star in pvp, a very good support in pve and a normal class for wvw. It’s not in a position to complain about a relativily small nerf to the damage of a skill that already has enough utility in all the game modes.
In comparison warr doesn’t much going for him in pvp and for as long as I have been playing this game pve is all about 2 banners and gs. I’m not even allowed to swap weapons – god forbid I interrupt the might to the party. Also I have a cc – elite skill – that is inferior at breaking bars and damage. Also stuns me for a sec. And this is my meta, not a weapon used for the fun of it
The point is not that warr < rev or something like that. It’s that if everybody starts complaining there’s no end to it. Especially a class in a pretty good position overall at the moment. Funny how warriors don’t seem to be complaining about the rifle nerf, but rev’s do…
It’s a cc for god’s sake. Who came up with such a ridicoulos skill in the first place?
(edited by Marius.3185)
Fail. Mesmer is still in a tier all by itself (replacing moa with gravity well will not be much of a change for the whole class) and guards have been destroyed.
Now I am not the dramatic type so I won’t call this catastrophic like some like to do. But it sure doesn’t earn a ‘good job’ anet. With the way moa has been handled i’d actually call them lazy and uninspired.
Even the warrior got ‘passively’ buffed – while at the same time forced forever into the same defense trait line. What exactly is so positive about the balacing lately?
How is it that people don’t understand moa without cs is complete garbage. This shouldn’t be debatable. It’s comparable to engi’s toolbelt (i repeat: toolbelt) skill, which has lower cd and is aoe to make up for the lower duration. And engi still has an elite skill besides that.
Now i know why there were no nerfs to mesmers in the balance patch post-season 2. They didn’t want to do anything to CS and they knew nerfing moa was a bad idea
A skill on 3 min cd that makes someone 6 sec a Moa (you can still dodge and you also have the 5 skill that dodges while in moa form – or better yet dodge the kitten ed skill altogether which seems to be deemed impossible by 95% of the people even though the animation and casting time are quite forgiving) with the worst passive effect for a signet in the whole game is not an elite skill.
I’ll bet you gravity well will replace moa in meta. The whole problem here is that mesmers still stay as the strongest current class so this really doesn’t do kitten for anyone except those that still kitten their pants when they get moa, get their hands of the keyboard and yell ‘OP bullkitten’.
What a load of bullkitten.
(edited by Marius.3185)
We shouldn’t be talking about nerfing this before talking about making the other two choices viable. You don’t play around with it when it’s the only choice at the moment for gm trait…
Especially lingering light (since grace of the land is more of a pve type of trait). Make this not be utter trash .On a 12 sec internal cd, one of the heroes you heal will blind someone with their next attack and heal themeselves for a small amount. Everything about this is so random and underwhelming. I find this more of a problem than ancient seeds
Earlier today I had a game where an ele kited 3 of my teammates around close for 5 minutes. I’m not kidding it was 5 minutes. They were just going around in circles near a point capped by my team. He wasn’t even trying decap or something like that and he was a really good player. No matter how much i tried i couldn’t make them move – and when i went to kill him 4v1 running out of other options it was fine until he came back – we couldn’t hold 2 points no matter what and I was playing condi ranger so I couldn’t carry the game outnumbered by 2 people on the rest of the map.
I honestly laughed my kitten off when I saw what happened. But I don’t want to play these kind of games. Nor do I want to play 4v5 and 5v4 which seem to happen extremely often. Dc, afk or high pings and I just wait around for the game to end…It’s a disaster. I shouldn’t play in the same team as a warr who waited around close at the beginning of the match until svanir spawned so he can beat him (he wasn’t the one capping the point – he just sat for over a minute and half waiting near where svanir spawns). His version of pvp and mine don’t have anything in common. Why am I left with only the choice of playing with these kind of teammates?
I’m not playing pvp to just screw around – nor do I consider winning 1v3 with a makeshift build on warr ‘fun’. Seriously annoying that games are so random and I’m playing less and less because I don’t wanna queque just to hope that out of five games maybe one will somewhat decent.
One last thing: the only values unranked had are gone: newbies get flamed and destroyed instantly without any chance to ‘have fun’ or learn the game, I don’t want to test builds since playing is random enough and after so many people ruin my games I don’t wanna do the same to others (sometimes the need ‘to carry games’ seems more powerful than during ranked last season) and toxicity is just through the roof. I can’t even control myself sometimes and I realize I’m ending up playing just to get angry. This is especially because people wanting to have casual fun and people wanting to play a serious match are grouped together – what other conclusion could this have anyway?
(edited by Marius.3185)
The same can be said about most classess in the game. A perfect example is warrior – the guy that gets buffed constantly (since a little before Hot to be more precise) and still cannot be considered competitive in pvp no matter what you choose, cannot dish out more than rifle f1 in wvw with about the same utilities as pvp and runs the same banner/ps build since forever in pve.
At the same time ele is the best dps in pve, the best support in pvp and a good choice for wvw.
Not trying to say ele utilities don’t need focus, more like the fact that if you want this to be fixed, classess need a major rework across the board and i don’t see this happening. Not a fan of more power creep so you should take from somewhere to give to this.
3 ascended chests since the patch for me. 2 Weapon and 1 armor – I really don’t understand what you’re saying
Also you can’t judge RNG in such a short period. Really now … You didn’t receive ascended chests for “a couple of days” and you’re already at wit’s end…Even though you placed their drop rate at “every week or every other week”.
Sigh. Even whining has it’s limits
Give rangers another elite spec or leave healing as it is.
Some absurd guy on another thread suggested a 40% heal reduction on druid lol.. How about we nerf all elites by 40% damage/condi duration/amount of cc skills…
Would probably serve ppl well if they can’t even one shot an afk zerker.
God I laughed so hard at this. Thank you
In all seriousness though, the same build that you can’t kill shouldn’t be able to kill you either. So you have no business dueling it for long periods of time.
When circumstances dictate it, there are ways to counter them. Especially the druid – I find it extremely open to cc’s and powerfull bursts.
would definitely be interesting to see this
I have finally even heard the inevitable words: ’it’s unranked so what does it matter’ today. In the same game I was playing against ranger who all I need to do was longbow 5, headbutt, shattering blow, F2, weapon swap, and sword f1 and it was over. Did this 4 times – the exact same rotation – over the course of the game and he was dead.
I don’t understand where’s the enjoyment for me or that poor guy who’s a beginner for that matter. However you look at it. I may get somewhat frustrated here and there, but a beginner will just get downright sick of the game after a couple of those moments. At least I would – I wouldn’t want to feel like someone’s mocking me like that. And most games have players like that either on my team or opponent’s.
Not to mention 1 in 3 games at least and I find afk players when games begin. Not even this much. Nobody takes it seriously and I’m past the point where I can play for the hell of it. Unranked is fine for testing builds, but I can’t test builds for one whole month.
How is a system like this a good medium for tests for last patch changes and for next league…
Also I find it sad that I finally see my warrior back at on his feet with this patch, but I have to wait for a whole month to be able to see what he can really do…
(edited by Marius.3185)
Can’t compete with you friend. Please give a bit of reasoning why warr is so bad otherwise it’s useless to just throw statements at me. Nothing will stick.
I’m actually open to discussion, but you just state things. Don’t really understand what you mean. So why is warr so bad ? Explain in detail so someone will actually take you seriously if you’re gonna bother to come on forum and just post a list just like that…
And yes – I do have a problem right now testing the warr. And it’s called unranked. So I posted everything as an impression. Adrenal health changes how the warr works – having an almost permanent buffed up healing signet active tends to do that. But I can’t take much input when I’m stomping everyone with full hp and it takes 3 people to kill me in less then 30 secs
(edited by Marius.3185)
It’s what I just reinforced. You’re all too definitive – though we can all agree on the mesmer.
I meant it as a first impression. And that’s because of the portal and moa I cannot place mesmer anywhere else then number one at this point. Just the portal gives access to plays that can decide the fate of the game and are impossible to mimic by any other classess
And no – you are no authority after you place guard above warrior. Just for this one I can be definitive about Being 2 classess I have good experience with I can firmly say guard is out and warr’s back in
(edited by Marius.3185)
…god tier is mesmer….semi god tier is ele and rev…good tier is druid and scrapper ,decent tier is guard and thief and necro, worst tier is warrior
This is why you cannot take tier lists seriously. With all due respect you have no idea what you’re talking about
You gave forest a nice change – make the bossess spawn after one minute. So nobody has to rage that someone in your team let’s you lose mid in -1 fight just so he can play pve.
Ok…but you gave us spirit watch where nobody knows what to do when game starts. Maybe it’s because it’s unranked or too soon, but I completely hate the map because it’s all over the place – and I mean the players … but the map is driving them and I just can’t take it seriously if I see my ranger going first thing towards the orb and dying against opposing team before my team can even react… It’s forest all over again, just more obvious than ever
Maybe it’ll change in the future, or it’ll get better with ranked (this doesn’t help since I am forced to play random unranked games but whatever), but for now it’s just frustrating
Another problem with it is that the mechanic favors snowballing. usually orb gets carried by team who is in favor (either after a wipe or when outnumbering opponent
Though this might also be a ‘unranked’ problem.
Maybe the conclusion is LET ME PLAY RANKED SO I DON’T TEST YOUR MAPS AND THEIR TEAM MECHANICS IN RANDOM GAMES. But it might just be me
Skyhammer however plays quite nice. I am satisfied by it
(edited by Marius.3185)
How about we agree that ‘god tier’ in individual perception is more or less what we find hard to play against. I’d place meta mesmer there just about as much as a warr. I find it too soon to classify builds with so much definitiveness…
I main the warr and I found some builds with the new regen to be incredible – just incredible. Healing 500 per second almost constantly shouldn’t be allowed I really believe shoutheal will return for warr along with the buffed warhorn (sage amulet and sword / longbow and you are a bunker with tons of aoe cleanses and heal and can still apply condi pressure). And this is far from it’s only option
Mesmer has a bit too much damage mitigation, incredible utility with the moa and cc’s and damage all in one. I’d tone down the moa (maybe remove 2 secs from it) and maybe 1/2 secs from shields block and test it out. I think it would be reasonable.
But all this is worthless – since the balance patch for the league is going to be tested on unranked pvp. Because theory crafting only takes you so far… It’s so counter-intuitive it’s amazing.
Btw – how is druid god-tier? Now that the search and rescue has been nerfed – what was he before ? Titan-level?

Vayne you need to understand that most people won’t have the thought of pursuing a refund in their minds. I never ever considered it and nobody else will seriously. However I said false advertisement because it was false advertisement – I don’t need to be backed by the law to state a simple fact. Never did I use anything close to the legality of it in my post and I don’t care for it.
And I do not need the god kitten law to tell me wether I should feel cheated or not. I don’t want my money back, I want the game I like so much to stop shooting itself in the leg at every turn. That’s why I didn’t just stop playing and minded my own business. You can’t tell me that I’m not looking at the whole forest and instead focusing on one rotten tree, when said tree seems to be towering and dominating the whole forest.
They cancelled legendaries because they put themselves in a dire position. It’s they own fault for this no matter how you look at it.
They can’t release promised features (like fractal leaderboards, legendary armor and backpiece along others) because hot wasn’t ready to be delivered and still needs to be fixed. And will be for a while longer.
Story was never gw2’s strong point, however it’s getting ridiculous. Everything is either so generic and cheesy it’s just obnoxious or annoying, either it’s comic relief…Mainly the former.
The released 100 levels to the fractals and above 50 you cannot will not find any other levels being played except swamps. It’s the worst possible system to come up with…
Gated content is frustrating, drops are unrewarding and timed so you can only play one thing every two hours even though you finished all the meta events leading to the final one.
The promised difficulty gets nerfed patch after patch.
WvW is just a big disappointment.
I played only a warr and had to learn druid from scratch to have a chance in ranked pvp – not to mention the problems with the league itself where I got pushed around for 30 or so games (won around 4-5) in ruby, then immediately after had 3 long winning streaks to push me to diamond in 3-4 hours. I got a system now that makes me either grind through lossess like a masochist or drop pvp entirely. I don’t claim to be legendary material, but let me drop divisions instead of forcing me against better players or 4-5 games in a row with the same players I lost before and making me sit through so many frustrating games till the system decides I should start winning again.
Pvp is the main selling point of gw2 for me. I play almost everything, but this is why I still log in.
They messed around with everything and finished absolutely nothing…That’s why I can see the rotten tree anywhere I go
Yes – there are good points. One of them is the maps which are stunning – simply beautiful. This is one of the only reasons I still played hot content And I could name others here. That does not however excuse the fact that Hot was a mess and now that they decided they can just abandon projects it makes me feel like nothing they promise will ever have any substance whatsoever and it’s a shame.

I didn’t pay for gliding in open world. This is not an argument – I payed for content they promised so content they didn’t doesn’t affect my take on what they didn’t deliver.
I understand the difference between product and service, however that does not make anet immune to being called on it’s false advertisement. Advertisement made for Hot – the expansion in question. So yes – what I thought I was paying for and what I received are 2 different things so I have a right to declare myself unsatisfied just like you have a right to be satisfied.
And you do not have a right either to call others out because they feel like their maid should sweep the floors like she was paid for, not fix the kitten car. It may suit your fancy, but it really is this simple.
Also we’ll welcome you on the unsatisfied side once they scrap and delay features you care about and replace them with others you deem irrelevant. Because it will happen eventually if you (and apparently we should as well) accept this method
“Yeah! I get to fight Potoni the Massive,” said nobody ever
Tapioca expressed half the problem perfectly. I mean it’s just underwhelming. Sometimes just there to block you, other times you don’t even care about it. Thank you for stealth gliding…
The other half is having advanced gliding in the game. I would get why, but it doesn’t help me feel anything but annoyed that before I had to carefully manage my endurance in-air and now…Suddenly I won’t ever care about it … ever. I mean why ? I’ll even forget one day about it. Seems like I struggled pointlessly before and they could either spare me the trouble or make it part of the game. It’s a radical change that feels like it’s there because of a lack of other ideas.
And it’s not progression – it’s a complete 180 degrees change that will never be reversed…
Also know a lot of people that complain about the fact that masteries lock behind them map completion. They don’t like repeating same content over and over again so to them it’s annoying (because if you take it like that it feels like a grind). They bought hot knowing they won’t replay it over and over again and they still log in the game periodically to play pvp fractals raids or wvw. So they are “punished” to play
So even though itzel poison or nunoch wallows might sound cool, I believe it’s a bad idea to lock hero points or vistas behind it…There could’ve been other form of rewards for that
Isn’t this more a problem of taste ? I can understand tangled depths (even though by the name I don’t think it should be anything open), but verdant brink and auric basic don’t really have this problem. At least not excessive – personally if feels reasonable to the concept of a jungle (and I think Tarir classifies as amazing)
I agree though that in the future it should alternate a bit. Open maps are also good. Somewhere along the lines of ‘hot was enough, let’s try something else next time’
(edited by Marius.3185)
I’ll try it. Thank you. Hopefully I’ll get through one tangled depths without incident
Map completion and adventures shouldn’t be locked behind the meta. It was a greedy decision by anet to force players stay longer in the game and now they are paying the price for it. This should indeed get fixed
But difficulty doesn’t have much to do with it. A couple of movement skills, a bit of attention and a bit of skill can get you through most of the map. There are some exceptions, but I can’t see many. Heck I thought the bladedancers were extremely op when I first encountered them – now I find them easy (and I have been playing hot for 3 weeks only).
I hated world bosses (except teq) because I was staying in one place and auto attacking (maybe sometimes using one two skills … maybe) and it was done…You seriously want to revert to that in future expansions? I know I’m weird for enjoying exploration in tangled depths (everyone seems to hate it, but I think it’s an amazing map crippled only by locked content behind meta) but I don’t believe people would really prefer hot to become like gw2 vanilla. It’s really more along the lines of ’there’s so much that’s wrong with the game right now, patience is scarce so we’re quick to overreacting’… With the the mastery grinding system, the unbelievably bad drops, or the frustration of never being able to get where you want when you want, your mood spoils everything else…I hope at least
My suggestion is: let’s wait till they fix the major issues. We’re actually giving them a way out of fixing the major problems with the game by crying for the nerf…
And if it fails I just hope – even if the majority of players are the mindless type – some part of the future content can be left for the ones that don’t enjoy playing like a god kitten zombie.
Also I would really prefer if the majority of the events themselves had a bit of backbone story-wise. The majority of them are lame jokes with kitten one liners (can’t remember the last time I saw something interesting related to the asura).
Doesn’t really help motivate anyone… Could have really helped with the immersion since the maps at the very least are gorgeous
PS: Is anyone enjoying the Tarir meta-event ? The only part I find interesting is how the kitten they managed to come up with immobile vines strapped to a door as the final boss. It just baffles. What part of that should be epic or help me ‘want’ to defeat it. I asked my friend ‘is this for real’ three times thinking he’s messing with me when he told me… Really weird
(edited by Marius.3185)
I know how you feel. I received one in dragon stand halfway through the event as well and map was full when I tried to return.
After 4 consecutive same errors towards the end of tangled depths meta event in the last two days (I can’t finish the event – it always crashes the game) I just gave up right there and stopped playing.
Since I need to farm exp to get masteries, I wasn’t even doing it out of fun in the first place. Really annoying
