Can we get a silence on the dude inside too. I’m tired of hearing him tell me that we have more spies!
Seriously what was the point of buffing warriors lol? My Warrior was a god before, and now he’s a super-god. GG Arenanet, thanks for making me even more powerful without any effort on my part.
Might want to take more time looking at the other classes tho lol.
Any definitive tests on Sigil of Smothering stacking with Sigil of Night?
I don’t WvW or PvP … like ever. My work doesn’t allow me to have that much time so I log on to do a dungeon or daily that’s it. But I’ve been playing D/D cantrips auramancer for over 6 months.
Is this change going to effect all aspects of the game, or only one?
It should become a woman. Then transform again into a horse. Then lastly, into a broom and use the ability “feign death”.
I’m a mesmer and NO do not nerf or touch portals in anyway. I like my shortcuts.
If the pet is following you and you stealth, does it target something else? Or does it continue to follow u? If it doesn’t I think that’s more concerning.
Depends on the build and you’re also not factoring in utilities slots. Here’s my auramancer D/D:
Air: Shock Aura, RTL, Light Touch, Updraft
Fire: Glyph of Harmony Heal, Burn Speed, Arcane Wave (before burn speed connects), Drake Breath, Fire Grab, Ring of Fire
Earth: Magnetic Grasp/Leap, Earthquake, Churn Earth, Armor of Earth or Light Flash to get off Churning.
Water: Frost Aura, Cone of Cold, Frozen Burst, Cleansing Wave (if needed)
This is assuming you are the only one might-stacking. My build is 0/10/10/30/20.
You guys are right, ele’s suck. Here’s proof:
found this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEDQ9cKh5gYfirst you do this, then this. and this, and this… and this.. oh.. and then that.. and that.. and this , and this, and this… and dont forget that.. or this….
This vid i found, just shows how terrible the elemental class realy are.
I mean… soooo much work.. for so little… just why ??When i leveled my flamer-engineer. i used my napalm bomb.. then just burn the mobs down.. Groups of them. and if i was bored.. i started with my elixir gun instead to pull mobs together so i can aoe with flamer.
the difference is day and pitch darkness.
i know its 2 different classes.i just wonder.. why the hell, do you need to work so hard on elemental..
to gain so little ??? makes no sense, since elemental are light armor.. and low hp also.So.. shouldnt elemental.. like.. have alot stronger Direct dmg ?
So.. shouldnt elemental.. like.. have alot stronger Direct dmg ?A-nets official description of the class:
“Elementalists are multi-faceted spellcasters that channel elemental forces, making fire, air, earth, and water do their bidding. What they lack in physical toughness, they make up in versatility and the ability to inflict massive damage in a single attack.”lol.. “massive damage in a single attack” pfff.. lol…
You should try this game instead:
It’s a 2 way street. You have kitten warriors that drop them too close to parties members or bosses (ex: dungeons). They don’t realize it’s a 600m BASE range.
Just make the banners into spirit banners that float and follow like guardian spirit weaps.
DONE. Makin kitten difficult for no reason is fail.
I play support. I have a berserker Warrior for DPS.

Anyone know if the damage reduction of Frost Aura also stacks with protection boons??
FOR GRAPE JUSTICE!
qft
Warrior is king of all dungeons. They are your playground. Just stay away from Arah
lol win
Berserker gear for more crit chance. Most of your crit will come from your gear anyway.
GS wins DPS if mob is against a wall. Most other real dungeon situations Axe/Mace wins because of mobility and ability to sustain DPS rather than have a chance of missing a full hit.
It seems like warriors are synchronizing their FGJ but they actually aren’t. They are just smashing the key whenever it’s on cooldown so multiple warriors end up smashing it at the same time.
Still the best utility skill to have if you aren’t in full defense stance. It improves everyone’s ability to do better while totally disregarding player skill, which is awesome.
Thanks so far for the input all. Since some of you posted already, any advice on builds and weapon combos with Warhorn? I see mention of Axe/Warhorn and Sword/Warhorn.
Does stuns work to break defiance stacks on bosses? I feel Mace/Warhorn would be great for defiance breaking.
Since they changed the condition conversions in a patch, is warhorn worth using?
I was thinking of running a Mace/Warhorn boon duration PVT + Knights Jewelry support Warr for dungeons.
Do you have any decent amount of toughness from gear (say around 1400-1600)? Remember Scepter gives you a free 250 toughness. If yes, healing power. Don’t expect to heal the party at all tho, the healing power is only for you.
Edit: Why? Ether Renewal.
Ele healing for party is terribad, Ele healing for yourself is good.
Anyone else notice that if you are D/D…..your air “chill” effect got changed from reduction/slow in opponents endurance regen to being a slow on their skill recharges?
Not sure I like this. Keeping a thief out of endurance was a quick way to kill them. Just slowing down their skills doesn’t do much if they are stealthed all the time again. Same goes for other classes when players like to rely to much on their dodges.
Anyone noticed a difference?
So many doomsayers. You’d think they all died with the stupid 2012 end-of-the-world bullkitten.
it all depends on what build you’re using. if you’re using knight’s gear, i believe you should have something around 30% crit. if you’re going full zerker, it’s easily 50-60% crit. if you’re using full soldier (power/vit/toughness), you should have 0% crit.
you can factor in the fury + swiftness boon from your arcana trait line… that’s another 20% for 3 seconds after attunement swap.
that being said… crit chance isn’t a major factors for eles to consider. it’s more of a niche more suited for glass cannon warriors and thieves. instead, you should be asking yourself how much power, toughness, and vitality you have.
What’s up with all this false info being spread around forums.
Plain and simple crit is important, for any class. Most MMOs put a soft-hard cap of 45%-50% for critical because of how useful it can be. I try to shoot for around that. It’s easy with D/D Aura/Might stack Ele because you have dam near perma fury. Also you need is a warr or something in the party and you are good to go.
If you are not pushing crit, you are 1) losing a lot of damage, 2) losing a lot of procs on sigils, 3) losing a lot of procs from beneficial boons you could have up which can 4) potentially make you lose even more damage if you are 25 into water, 5) do I need to say more?
PS: Try running a perma-vigor set up with crit. You can thank me later.
anyway you can post your traits and gear set up? at 19% i def dont feel like i’m hitting like I should. Surviving just fine though, so might go for more crit/crit dmg instead of cd. My healing is almost 800 thinking bout bringing it down to 650-700ish too
I currently have 2 sets of gear I use, working on a 3rd and 4th (condition damage and one for Scepter/Dagger).
Set 1 is Valkyrie armor and weaps mixed with Berzerker jewelry. Power/Vit runes with Battle and Force sigils.
Set 2 is AC armor and weapons with Knight’s jewelry. 30% boon duration on runes with 2x Superior Water, 2x Superior Monk and 2x Major Monk (I think, forget which one). Obviously not my damage set. Same sigils as above.
I’m around 26% crit without fury on both sets. 800 healing imo is way too high. Anywhere around 400 is okay I think. Ele heals on all weapon sets are total kitten anyway, no point focusing on it. They did a terrible job on our heal abilities especially with staff. Used to be better with Evasive Arcana.
Here’s traits and utilities: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fEEQJAoYhEmKbxx5gjFAkHn4SJhCKMKIiowDlCzA
If you wanted more damage, you can swap out the 10 in Earth for 10 more in Air (bolt to Heart), or if you have trouble dodging go 10 in arcane for vigor on crits.
(edited by Marius.8052)
Everyone and their mother plays Dagger/Dagger with 60 points invested in the bottom trait lines.
I don’t?

Is it me or can you no longer craft lvl 45 masterwork trinkets as a Jeweler? Lv 45 are now fine, and 50s are masterwork. Masterwork now skips from 35 to 50!? I’m confused.
Hello all. What are some of the best class combinations you guys have found to do some of the dungeons in the game? How about skill combinations for achieving (and maintaining) certain types of boons stacks and durations for optimum dungeon clearing efficiency?
What classes do you think syngerize well together for certain dungeons? What classes are a must have (if any)?

Thanks for all the feedback so far.
@Marius: What Runes and Sigils do you use with your build?
I run Valkyrie weaps with Superior Sigil of Battle (3 stacks of might on attunement swap) and Sigil of Force (5% damage passive).
I used to use Battle + Sigil of Fire (PBAoE fire damage). Fire is nice because it can AoE 5 targets, and against the Heavy Mech practice dummy in the Mist it does about 800-900 damage non-crit damage with 3k+ power. That’s not bad damage. The Lightning proc sigil does a little over 1000-1100 damage non-crit against a single target.
The reason why I swapped out of Fire and went passive is because of my playstyle. I’m a D/D ele, I swap attunements ALL the time. The Battle sigil and Fire Sigil both share an internal cooldown that is global between both. I think Battle is a 9 sec cooldown, while fire is 5 sec. That means if you proc either of the two, the other (or the same one) cannot proc again until the respected internal cooldown has ended. This becomes bad in situations where you either need more might, or AoE is not important (say against a boss) and the Fire sigil procs (putting you in a 5 sec global cooldown) and thus you don’t get 3 stacks of might on attunement swap from Battle (plus your doing lower damage because it’s an AoE hit from Fire).
Also, the Fire Sigil is a 30% proc chance while the Battle and the Force sigils are not a proc chance. If you have crappy crit chance to begin with, Fire sigil sucks. I’m a Might-stacking D/D ele, it’s more important I stack might and keep it up than have a situational damage proc sigil.
(edited by Marius.8052)
I used to use Sigil of Fire with Sigil of Battle, but they share global cooldowns so thats a waste. Especially when I’m attunement swapping as a D/D ele (which I am) and I’d rather get the 3 stacks of might from Battle than a Fire burst aoe.
Also Bloodlust seems useless to me for PvE. If you are soloing its fine, but honestly in solo you can run anything and it works really. For dungeons, if you do Bloodlust, you will almost never keep more than a few stacks up at all times because it goes away on downed state. And its not like you can exit a dungeon every few stacks, get 25, and come back in and switch weapons lol.
I use full Valkyrie (Power/Vit/Crit Dam) on my armor and weaps, and full Berserkers (Power/Pres/Crit Dam, jewels included) on my jewelry. I’m a D/D ele running a perma fury/vigor cantrips build based around might stacking.
I chose Valkyrie and Berserkers because my brother plays a staff/Hammer support heal guardian with power/tough/vit gear (and some healing somewhere). I usually group with him. He heals a lot.
A lot of classes can give you protection buffs, but the one thing you can’t get is Vitality. That’s only from gear. Power/Tough/Vit seems great, but that’s way too much survivability imo in dungeons where even full tough’d out Guardians sometimes get 3-4 shotted. Having all the defenses doesn’t help you jack squat in a game like this. I’d rather have some and do very good damage than go that far.
With my set up I’m close to 50% crit damage and crit chance with 3k power and close to 20k HP. I can easily hit 19 stacks of might in a couple of seconds, and my brother can help max to 25 if needed with staff. That’s not bad imo.

I’ll take an invite as well. I’m on Darkhaven, if that matters.
Can’t seem to find the answer anywhere on the forums, does anyone know of Superior Sigil of Force is calculated based on your BASE attack, or it is calculated AFTER taking your gear into consideration?
Ex:
My base attack is 916, but after all gear equipped its over 3,000. When is the 5% calculated?
If you guys are having serious problems as an Ele in PvE you are playing way wrong. Some tips:
1) Pre-exotic/lvl 80 gameplay hardly ever matters (in general for every game). There’s a huge difference between end-game and “getting there”. Wait till your gear is better and you have more skills and you will notice a substantial difference.
2) Stop creating your character around solo-play and create it around group-play. There’s other classes that fill in your gaps (example: my brother plays a heal/support staff/Hammer Guardian, guess what I play?).
3) Learn a rotation for your character where you are swapping attunement skills and always have something coming up that you are familiar with.
4) Use cantrips.
5) Learn the max ranges of all your abilities.
6) Learn the mechanics of any fight.
7) Learn to frickin dodge, seriously. Why do you still get pulled in by the LT in AC!?!?
8) Personal favorite permanent Vigor is a godsend.
Edit: The mechanics of your class might not be the way YOU want it to be (game is still slightly new), but the mechanics we have atm DO work.

Hello all, been wrecking my brain over a new build since the Evasive Arcana nerf and I think I found something I like. Could use a critique tho:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fEAQJAoYhMmKbyx5gjDAkHmcSJCFP0QRxM5A
This is a primarily a PVE-Dungeon spec with Dagger/Dagger. Also note that my brother plays this game and I duo dungeons with his 2H Hammer/Staff support/heals Guardian. I also sometimes trio with another Guardian who I believe is spec’d more damage/support (I forget). So right off the bat before going into a dungeon I have at least 1 guardian on my side.
Perks of the build:
1) Perma Fury (correct me if I’m wrong). Total fury duration (2 Auras + 2 sec attunement swaps) is 20 seconds. Air Aura (traited) recharges in 20 seconds.
2) Attunement swap condition cleansing.
3) Auras for the party (which is kinda meh except for the daze). Can always change to Cleansing Water.
4) 2% damage per boon.
5) Near infinite Vigor (+2% damage from the above, main reason I got it).
Armor Choices:
Head to Feet – Valkyrie Set (Power/Vitality/Crit Damage).
Runes – Same as above.
Jewelry – Full Power/Precision/Crit Damage (including augment).
Weapon Choices:
Dagger Weapons – Valkyrie Set (Power/Vitality/Crit Damage)
Sigil – Might on swap and maybe the flame burst aoe.
The logic behind the build is assuming I get 30% crit chance (or more) with jewelry alone, If I add in perma-fury that’s 50% crit chance right there. That means better damage (including crit damage armor) and perma vigor (with +2% damage).
Also I want vitality over toughness because I have a guardian almost always with me. He reduces damage quite often by 33%. If I have 2 guardians, it’s even better. Other classes can reduce damage as well. But the one thing no class can give me is Vitality. That only comes from gear.
Thoughts/opinions?
