Just a general wondering about pets:
Why do pets have unique F2 skills? Would it really be a problem if both of your pets could use the exact same skills? Pets should really be about skins > F2 skills.
If I for exemple want to use a tiger, but don’t wanna be forced with the current F2 skill, why are you stopping me?
Instead give the Rangers the option to choose!

All in all the Druid feels quite unique, which is a good thing.
But it’s too focused on being a healer, which instead makes the whole class suffer. There’s no synergy between the Druid and the rest of the weapons, traits, skill and the pets. The staff and the astral form recommends you to play a ranged playstyle, but the glyphs seem to have been made for close combat.
I haven’t tried it yet, but it feels like if you want to play a hybrid healer, the best way to do so is a condition damage/healer hybrid. Because a power build with Druid specialization makes no sense as there’s no synergy whatsoever. It just feels clunky and boring.
But the Astral form needs to do damage in some way. It needs more Boomkin! As many, many players has stated before me; most rangers don’t want to be forced to play healer.
Honestly I don’t really see the point with energy to build up astral form. It already has a 10 second cooldown and in comparison to Death Shroud, this form doesn’t actually protect you. Probably better to add a timer in this form so it doesn’t become too spammy with heals. To balance things out.
Lastly the glyphs are terrible. Too short duration for damage/heal boost, one glyph cripples foes which sucks, another pushes foes away when it should knock them down and so on.
It feels like they were just copy+paste effects with aoe damage from skills we already have. Make something unique with them and change the graphics into something nature-like.
Skills page, all questions: Can only choose one category. Needs fix.
A lot of great ideas. Clearly the Ranger class needs a lot of love and changes.
Especially the weapons are quite odd.
Though I agree with Ehecatl, that spirits should be immobile.
- The passive effects and their range needs to be increased/changed though. Especially Nature’s Vengeance.
- The actives are more of less useless at the moment. Although they’ve never been good. Spirits shouldn’t die on active cast and the effect should take place either around the caster or the targeted enemy. Maybe both with trait?
- Storm spirit needs to be redone. Rangers can grant swiftness with other ways. I would be surprised if anyone actually uses it. Fury would be the natural choice.
- Perhaps spirits should even be unkillable? They aren’t attacking anyone like torrets and they are immobile as of lately, so why bother giving them health? Even if the enemy kills them, they aren’t punished enough.

Okay, I just gotta ask. What’s the point with outfits?
If everything were armor skins parts, then everyone would be able to combine and play with their looks a lot more. If anything wouldn’t this kind of change just increase ArenaNet’s sales in the gem store?
I have yet to found even one outfit that actually is worth looking at as a whole. But if I could combine a few parts of an outfit set with other parts of another outfit set, or with a regular armor skin set, then that would be a very different story.
A few questions and statements.
First of all will these passive buffs also affect allies? If yes and the max number is 5, will your pet be an extra target or will it only be 5 no matter what?
Have you also thought about other traits this change would affect? For example Sun Spirit + Natural Vigor? Or that with all with all these removals of boons it might affect traits like Fortifying Bond and Bountiful Hunter?
Also I really don’t like what you did with Sun Spirit. The trade-off is too big as others have stated. Even without condition build burning (or in group constant burning) is good. Up to 20% endurance regen is not at the same level in my opinion.
Except for this I really like this
+1
<3 this thread. Agree with pretty much everything.
I would also like if the Devs could regularly talk about coming updates. I know communication requires a lot of effort, but even a little can make great impact. This is something they need to work on in general.
For some reason I seem to get drawn towards the classes of the lowest tier. My 2 mains are necro and ranger. Although they are underpowered in many aspects of the game at the moment (especially necro), I still enjoy playing them. But they very much need more love. Many terrible traits and skills are either located at questionable locations or have no real function to them. This instead creates a big issue for the build diversity within the game.
…even a little can make great impact!

After seeing this release of new hairstyles I just have to say that females need more and males need less. So many are running around looking like a Dragonball-wannabe I just would rather look to the ground than to force myself not to laugh.
I’m a big fan of anime and there are many great hairstyles out there, but Dragonball is just not one of them!
I really like this idea. It feels a bit similar to what Wildstar has done. It will be a winning concept if implemented correctly.
+1 on this thread.
If ANet wants to keep their players – things have to change! Take a break from releasing new content and fix things for a while. Either that or release new content once a month and instead make it higher quality. Balance and fix things whenever possible.
No one likes zerg fests. It’s as passive as gamestyle as it is even possible. And as ANet has stated many times before; they don’t like passive because it lacks skill.
So ANet – prove what you’re worth and make the players want to act!
Karka back and Toxic head and shoulders!
I fact, just make all old skins available for purchase on the gem store and also implement new armor sets via regular gameplay.
(For example heroic and challenge modes on the dungeons with unique sets.)

Yes
TA really needs fixes! A lot of bugs and boring bosses. Hope this will be fixed in this patch.
Also since we have a Dev on the thread, I’d like to drop a suggestion for the dungeons. The gamit system from Queen’s Guantlet was a great idea!
Would it be possible to implement this system to the dungeons? With of course unique achievements and rewards for clearing them. That would be the GW2 version of the “heroic mode” that has been asked for for a while ^^
I hate to say this, but the living story is really not much of a story at all. The plot is a twisted patchwork mess. The characters are cardboard cut-outs with no discernible life, depth or dimension. Honestly, I can’t even recall what has happened so far because it really is not interesting enough to even register in my brain. I mean hell, we had a freaking election and it takes a second to even recall Elen’s name. This is such a beautiful game with such a vast well of existing history and lore but it’s just not being utilized. I feel bad saying this because i know that ANET works really hard to bring us consistent and fun content. And so far they definitely have. Updates have brought some cool features but the “story” is really non-existent and extremely disappointing.
That being said, Mad King is coming and im super excited about that! Best lore and Villian in the game if you ask me. Can’t wait to see what tricks he has up his sleeve this year.
Have to agree here!
GW2 has a lot of potential and so does living story. But instead of giving us a story with big happenings and decisions that leads to the next dragon (which obviously is what everyone wants), we are given something that seems like a big mess.
I actually like Scarlet, or rather her potential as a character. But who is she really? And what are her plans? We know barely anything about her and haven’t even heard rumors in towns.
I still have no idea what the election was for and I’m starting to have a feeling it won’t matter. Elen should’ve just been elected before the game began. The event was horrible anyways. Just that voting system said it all.
Actually…
Ever since release I’ve been stuck in a confusion-mode of where this game is headed. The general story is great, but nothing after the main story “ended” has been interesting enough to mention or even remember.
It might be the lack of cutscenes, but I honestly can’t remember most characters we’ve seen with living story.
If anything I hope that Scarlet is secretly a member of an evil organization. They have hidden within each faction and city to eventually set “bombs” into action to weaken the alliance between the races and guilds. This will lead into another Guild Wars. But in fact one of the dragons is actually controlling this evil organization and when this is found out (when the members are dead), the alliance of Tyria go together once again to defeat this foul dragon.
Here’s my ranger
With a brand new armor I’ve put together.
I really, really like that look!
looks like t3 shoulders and gemstore? What dyes did you use?
It’s a mix between T3, gem store and TA. But I didn’t realize how dark that picture was. My screen at home made it look so much brighter. So I will come back tomorrow with more details and brighter pictures
Awesome! Im looking forward to it! Thats one of the best looking characters ive seen in game, no joke.
i hope you don’t mind if i use some if your look, i think i see a TA chest now to
Ok here we go
The colors are:
- Cobalt (light blue)
- Cinders (Beige (Flame & Frost dye))
- Lemon Tint (bone-ish color)
And new photos. I edited the pictures I already had taken, making them lighter and took a new one from the login screen
Hope you all like it!

My main is a charr female necromancer. Just saying
Also she is insanely cute ^^A big problem is that apparently most players can’t tell the difference between a female and a male. The design is not the issue though. Still I wonder why?
People have come to expect all females in games to be sexualized. If players see a creature that isn’t sexual, that automatically reads “Male” to them.
We can only be thankful that didn’t happen! Or rather, maybe they are sexualized… in a charr way
? It’s not like we can tell.
But it’s quite sad it has become like this in the gaming world!
I’d say GW2 is in a quite good spot in the universe of game sexualism. There however should be many more options (for all races) to dress their characters in a more normal sense. And since fashion/looks is a big part of GW2, ANet should use this feature as a demonstration.
But I’m going OT

ANet, can you at least write a comment on this thread?
We don’t need you to tell us what’s right and what’s not. Just tell us that you recognize this to be a problem and that you will fix it.
I have 3 lvl 80s and 2 of these are Charr. 1 male and 1 female. The other one being Sylvari. Charr has always been my favourite race and the first moment I saw one in GW1 I thought “this is the race I want to play”.
GW2 came out 7 years later and I truly love the game in many aspects. But the amounts of bugs, especially on the armors are really killing it for me. Even if you combine 2-3 sets of only culture armor, bugs will still appear. And it is by far worse when you combine these with other armor sets. I’ve seen things like holes appearing somewhere on the body making me able to look through my character! That’s how terribly buggy it is!
Why are players not so interested in these races?
Ask the players, read their comments, create a Charr yourself and try mixing gear of different sets together.
There are many more visional bugs than you realize!
Please!
At least before you’ve come up with a system that would replace the hobo sacks, just make it possible to not show them.
I think that alone would solve a lot!
I have a sylvari female engineer I would like to level up, but every time I take a look at her I remember that the hobo sacks will just cover up all of the gear.
What’s the point of making your engineer look “pretty” if a huge sack of garbage will just ruin everything else?
Calm down will you
?
We know almost nothing about her.
(1) There are a lot of theories involving her coming from the future, which would explain a lot. Maybe in the coming years the dragons will be defeated and the world will be restored to peace, the races will start sharing their cultures with each other because they’ve experienced hell together.
But because something else happend Scarlet was born as a biproduct of peace.
(2) Maybe an asura has created a machine to make it look like other people.
(3) It could also be some kind of evil mesmer creating illusions.
Either way, no need to cry a river because a character we know nothing about has appeared with knowledge of an asura
This post will make Necros all over the world OP ;P
I’ve been using Sigil of Energy on my PVE main weapons for a few months now, and I can tell you it works like a charm! ^^
I usually am the last one standing and since I’m switching weapons every 10-20 seconds (depending on situation) this sigil really makes my class alot easier to play.
But I would really like an actual change similar to this sigil to complete my necro! (plz dev-team)
I wouldn’t say that most of these are nerfs. It depends on the situation and build. In some cases these are buffs, in some they are not.
Damage taken while in death shroud will now overflow to the necromancer’s health pool if the damage taken is greater than the remaining life force.
If you take a look at Wiki there’s a note that says
“Taking falling damage while in Death Shroud will drain life force. Any excess falling damage is negated, allowing any necromancer to fall from heights normally deadly”.
This might still be untouched after the patch.
The change might only be affected by damage from enemies.

Since the march patch the lag spikes have been horrible for me in sPvP. Sometimes I can play for a while without any issues, but always at some point the lag spikes start to attack me making my gameplay experience unbearable. I can use Blink and seconds later the spell will activate. After that I get “teleported” by lag all over the place, just back and forth for several seconds. If not something like this, enemies can suddenly disappear or my normal attack spells won’t activate until much later.
Minor versions of this can also happen in dungeons.
you think? of course that is one of the problems, the other is people joining and seeing they are on a full pug and facing a full premade and quitting, or seeing they are on a 5v4 and quitting, making it 5v3. And since you don’t punish them what do they lose? the invisible rating they don’t care about? They log-off for 10 mins avoid a spawn camp stomping then log back in.
Learn from Rift, if you get DC’d their system gives you short amount of time to re-boot/log back in and puts you in the same warfront you were in. If you don’t log back in quickly it fills the spot with a new player and when that person eventually does log back in they have a 30-min deserter debuff and can’t queue for pvp. I’m guessing just another thing your system isn’t built to do.
If someone is constantly DC’ing due to crappy ISP or quitting without leaving their roster they should be punished and stick to hotjoin rather than making 4 people suffer a curb stomping 5v4 matchup.
The sad thing is this has been an issue basically since release and doesn’t sound like you have any fixes in the works. Like i said in another thread this is something Rift did a hotfix for shortly after release. And I only use Rift as an example because it was one of the more recently released mmos. pretty much every other mmo pvp also has quitter debuffs/penalties.
The two problems deserve different solutions. If a player is in queue for a bit, but needs to log off to do something else, that player shouldn’t be punished because they didn’t leave the roster first. This is a completely fixable problem. Punishing people who knowingly dodge is a much more difficult problem.
why is it so difficult yet every other game has a deserter penalty? If you log off once you have been put into a match you have 1-2 min to log back in, if not game fills spot with another solo queuer and the person that didn’t log back in quick enough gets a 30-minute quitter debuff and can’t join any pvp until it’s up. Rift does this, WoW does this, Warhammer did it, etc.
I don’t even bother playing this game anymore because as a solo queuer more of my matches are 5v4 than 5v5.
This is a very real problem, but we can only work on so many things at once. I would still place it at a lower priority than Custom Arenas.
I don’t agree with you on that. Custom Arenas, or any other new implements are things we all want who enjoy tPvP, but fixing issues that occurs often in matches is by far more important.
It’s not that we want to punish other players, but rather that we want the gameplay to be as fair as possible.
