my high levels are actually a Ranger and Mesmer, and i started with Ranger up to level 40ish then switched to mesmer, got the mesmer to 80 then worked on the ranger.
Ranger is DEFINITELY easier to mitigate damage in a solo environment because you are in fact two people. You can avoid a lot of stationary big hits to your pet simply using the F3 (return to me) then switching back to F1 (attack my target). Using a short bow/consumable/sun spirit, you can apply stacks of bleeds/burns while still doing decent damage.
Mesmer i feel is more of a support class, but is kitten well good at it. But the mesmers goal, IMO, is keeping enemies distracted with clones, while your phantasms and your weapon skills do damage. It’s still a light armor class, so you dont want to be in the situation where you have to go blow for blow because chances are you (unless you are traited for it), youll be the loser.
Anyways, in case you didnt catch the obvious answer to your question, go Ranger.
i believe its the WvW armorer
Black Lion Salvage Kits are godsend, especially after the buff that let you get a better chance for rare items and 100% salvage of upgrades. i get a minimum of 1 ecto per salvage and if the upgrade is worth ~15S, i practically got the ecto for free.
Yes, yes, Final Rest. Speaking of no rest, i need more coffee.
I really wish we could have a sticky that says “Infinite Light is boss-drop ONLY”. Its surprising how many people have asked about a recipe in this thread.
If he’s targeting you, fight near the water. if you see him about to roll. just roll into the water and swim back around. The sharks never came after me.
Every boss is predictable. just learn the pattern and youll be fine.
I created an Asura engineer with black eyes, black pupils and black skin with no markings. I played on it for a good 5 hours in Queensland and Metrica Province only to log on the next day and see that i now had white pupils and white markings on my forehead.
Has anyone had this problem and will there be a way to change my face back to the way it was in later updates?
Biggest thing that people dont realize. If you fight a boss and the party wipes, learn from that. Change your utility skills. Hell, even change your traits. Try to find out what your teammates are using for synergy. You have to know how each other work as well as yourself.
I played with someone who just so happened to cast their area elite the same time as i did. It wasnt one that stacked and therefore we wasted an elite that could have helped things go faster.
ive done a lot of my runs so far without vent and they have gone fast and smooth, but some dungeons, example: arah, need verbal communication, especially when its a “dont heal me or youll die too” situation. prevent the boss reset.
Provide examples of bosses that cant be beaten by well coordinated teams please.
and please elaborate on what you classify as a well-coordinated team, because pugs talking on vent not knowing what the other person’s specs are in armor/traits/weaponry isnt exactly coordination. nor is LF1M of ANYTHING going to make a proper team.
As far as i know, no one is able to get into HoTW explorable on server Anvil Rock. I’ve personally tried three times over the last 24 hours. Ive asked around LA and consensus is the same.
Continuing from my failure yesterday….
CM 3 – 30
HoTW 2 – 30 (never did this path)
HoTW 1 – 15 (never completed this path because of the bug)
Friend that did this with me
CM 3 – 60 (did CM right before that)
HoTW 2 – 60 (did this path earlier in the day)
HoTW 1 – 60
Never did AC exp before. Did the butler path. Got 30 tokens. my friend in the party got 60 tokens and it was his 3rd time that day.
Took about an hour to complete.
I run experiments with this skill often. I test distances, try it when running and when standing still. First, there needs to be a clear running path in order for the clone to reach the target.
Ive climbed a watch tower (3 stories) and had the clone run to the ground successfullly to the target AND i was allowed to leap to the target successfully.
Ive tried to attack a target slightly out of sword range, used the skill and had NOTHING come out. Same occurs when running while in PvP/PvE. Very annoying when you cant cripple/stun for the kill.
Ive also ran to a foe and then STOPPED thinking that running was the problem. Didnt work.
First and foremost – Mesmer’s Focus skill Temporal Curtain also doesnt stack speed boosts. I’ve tried it on numerous occasion being that its the main sure way to get speed on a mesmer. I hate being the fat kid in a group of 10% speed boost traits and the only speed boost i have doesnt stack (especially when running like maniacs through a dungeon).
Next issue – Mesmer trait Warden’s Feedback is very fickle or maybe im not getting the mechanism. “Focus skills reflect projectiles. Reduces recharge of focus skills by 20%.” My issue is that when i use Temporal Curtain, I rarely get a projectile to reflect.
Ive tried the method of placing the curtain between me and ranger.
Doesnt work. Phantasmal Warden works perfectly every time.
The only time the curtain has worked (at least i THINK its working) is when im running away from a foe, pass through the curtain for a speed buff and then the projectile that is shot gets reflected. This happens mostly with elementalist projectiles, though.
Im hoping these arent bugs and just me being a fail.
The volatile blossoms is the ONLY hard part about that dungeon. You call pull every foe out of volatile range after the first wurm boss. Just make sure you are using ranged weapons and dont be dumb like me and use clones cause that just makes them all explode.
