T1 multi server roaming roster [BAND]

The band of Venture Captains is building a multi server roaming roster for T1. No drama, no politics, no grief, just a clan of irreverent roamers going to where the fights are. Good core group, no ambitions or visions of grandure. Roster coordinated by 5 condoetteri (Mercenary Captains) of equal rank so no single person is “in charge”.. Everyone else is a mercenary. No egos trips, no officers, no secret meetings, just roaming and fighting. Want to find folks easier, kinda burned out on guilds, and want be ready to build a roamers guild hall when the time comes.
No rep requirements
No mandatory gear
No lame Gkick threats
No scheduled raids you HAVE to be at
No mandated single server loyalty
No single class or primary class requirements
Play what you want, how often you want, where you want, with and against whom you want

All these QQ about Rangers doing damage at Range. I wonder if that’s how Rangers got their name? Folks are being disingenuous to pretend WvW only happens at range. I could fill a page with places in the current maps where close in fighting is required and the advantages are with almost every other class.

Necro’s dropping wells in lords room is OP – eeek lets insult them. Pangloss, chokes, water gates, etc, etc, etc. Rangers at terrible disadvantages but the haters gonna pretend it’s all about 1500 range fighting… Lol

Rangers can’t hit things from a wall without being at the edge where they can be pulled by…..necros, thieves, engineers, mesmers. Elementalists can light up a wall from front to back and no glass LB ranger can stand in that. Can Rangers pull? no. Can they hit the top of walls? On barely with barrage.

I say get over it. Everyone has more tools than Rangers which why they were ridiculed in wvw for so long. Now that they slightly less useless and people are crying. Get real.

FWIW – I play necro in zergs, skill group havocs, and gvg where they shine. Other classes are better for me at solo roaming. Never occurred to me to whine about silly Rangers.

BTW – worth mentioning that “OP” LB rangers have no condi clear…..like they literally will die from a stack of bleeds. If they use healing spring they have to stand in it. I have 18 level 80’s including 5 rangers across 3 accounts. Ranger is the funniest but also the gimpiest – live by glass die by glass.

Whoa what? OP? this thief went down with 12K of attack and didnt take any evasive action at all. Who goes down with 12k of damage? LOL – 12k of attack in 3 seconds is OP? if you cant do the same in 1/2 that time with your guard, mesmer, or ele than you need to look at your builds.

Rangers like me prey on the weak, the panicked, the cheesiest of glass builds with no defenses, and above all else people with big egos. Everyone hates to lose to a “crappy ranger” so I count on it to get my advantage. I roam LB almost exclusively and take my kills using every underhanded no good dirty bit of trickery I can muster. If you don’t like it please send me a rage whisper so I can add it to our guild message of the day. I especially appreciate being called cheesy. – BG – Cheesy Louisy

FWIW – T1 roamers have gotten much better about countering Rangers. Makes for a better and more fair environment in my opinion. I still kill dozens roaming every day though so please keep chasing down crappy Rangers.

Why play ranger? I built a fully ascended glass bow power ranger as my final class for the singular purpose of unleashing hell on thieves. I consider taking out 15 as part of my daily routine. I die once every other day to a thief so I usually have a 25:1 kill/be killed ratio. Turns out that is the same ratio between good thieves and scrubs being carried by the class.

Rangers till the arrows blot out the sun….,sic’em is six seconds of heaven

If you want to roll with an organized raid / Zerg and be sorted into parties where you have a key roll then warrior is your best bet. I’ve never seen a commander sort parties and give one care about rangers. In big fights a well placed banner can turn the tide in your favor. A ranger will never have that kind of impact.

If you want to roam solo or in havoc either class is excellent. Wars have superior mobility and of course great melee. Their weakness in my opinion is their predictability. Good players know how to deal with the few common war builds and will counter you.

Ranger is in my opinion the most fun I’ve had in wvw. I have 13 level 80 toons across all classes, 3 servers, and play every class competently (maybe ele is my weakest). Dragon ranked in pvp, titles for multiple classes, gold ranked in wvw. So it’s a laugh when people troll QQ me with nasty whispers that I only play a trash LB ranger. Shrug

Ranger is so versatile I have multiples so I don’t have to swap builds and gear. Ranger is the only class I roll up on and find so many variations that I’m often still surprised. It’s an easy class to play and easy to get good at playing. I think it’s boring to run a ranger in a Zerg so I usually don’t. If I do I’m burning down back lines or removing thieves from harassing our casters. Mainly solo roam, double team, or run havoc. Full zerker set up.

People often underestimate rangers. I’m not really sure why but they do silly things and get salty about it. Yes ranger is easy but a well played ranger can be a deadly beast. In my opinion rangers are second only to necros in the +1 havoc role. Providing a targeted set of big dmg drops on engaged enemies across the entire skirmish area is super effective and LOL fun.

Literally you will hear me on TS looking for 50% health targets and dropping player after player after player.

Let’s put it out there – people rage against turret engi for two reasons:
1. Their own preferred class/build struggles against turrets (or they dont play well enough)
2. They’re envious that others appear to be getting away with putting in less effort and skill than they are and getting a better result.

Turret engi is so limited as a build is laughable to call it OP. Honestly.

The answer to the turret engi is simple – it’s all about the team.
1. Turrets suck as team members because they lack the ability to rotate off their points. Oh the helplessness of sitting on home unable to help at mid because you’ll have no weapons if you leave your turrets.
2. Let classes on your team who are hard counters to turrets go and drop them.
3. Turrets cant retake points as easily as they can hold them. Once they’ve lost it you can mess with them. Engaging them off point when returning from spawn is a win.

I play several classes/builds and turret engi is by far the least amount of work and the least useful. If I have a low MMR team with me I’ll play it just for the cheese mode. On a high MMR team I don’t even consider bringing it.

It’s seriously just a LTP and learn to work as a team with adaptive tactics kinda issue.

Would you be open to being flexible with your map selection? Maybe roaming and havocs would be something you’d enjoy.

I have played on TC for the last 12 mo and after 2 full seasons and another 2000 hours of wvw time I can honestly say I have never not been able to play wvw due to queue times. Sure maps get a queue but there are three other maps to go to. Roaming or running with a havoc group on a BL is a nice change from EB which can be hectic.

Don’t believe JQ an BG don’t have map queues, that’s just a coded recruitment message to bolster their NA.

PROFESSION SELECTION DISTILLED – only premade groups get to strategically decide optimal team profession comps. Everyone else gets random group setups and labeled a “deserter” if they adjust their profession to respond to the premade they’re are being been fed to. “Build Wars 2” advantage only to the premades.

At least my dragon finisher works in wvw where I now spend all my time waiting for soloq to return. I miss PvP, even the toxic haters….

This vicious truth is bunk – sorry. Even if we accept your 1970+ number there are very few if any places where a structure attacker has a terrain advantage over a defender to get this big number. Usually you are shooting up and mostly you are obstructed by the lip of the tower walls. Rangers stand no chance against the range of a fully traited AC.

Stop putting solo against team.

People are being disingenuous to suggest it’s just a simple as calling rotations. Premades have a huge advantage of optimizing team class composition AND complimentary builds. Showing up with a team you have structured and set up builds and practiced with and are discussing strategy and calling combos is an easy win against a pick up group of statistically equal players

It’s a joke to pretend the solo player showing up in a slapped together pug isn’t at a disadvantage.

Bring back solo queue

Sadly (literally sad because I love pvp) tonight I have resigned myself queuing up solo isn’t working for me anymore. It just is not fun. I’ve pumped in major hours into pvp since the 2nd but I can’t make it enjoyable.

Practice areas are almost always a lopsided zergfest so I can’t even do that. Getting to dragon rank I was on the winning side 70% + of 1200 matches on my main. Now I’m running 4o-45% and people are screeching and insulting each other.

You just can’t compete with people in voice chat, running complimentary builds, running in pairs, coordinating combos, knowing each others strengths etc. Even if your team has a premade you’re the scrub while they work tightly together.

Things happen – interesting updates – game marches on – but not with me queuing solo.

I have the same issue. I select the finisher I want to use and it seems to randomly revert to the basic “pole” finisher. I can replicate the problem by accessing the equipment hero’s panel, doing so will revert the finisher back to the pole. Primarily using the pvp Phoenix finisher.

I have 2 other guild mates with the same problem.

I recently had a match where multiple people disconnected at the same time, we all reconnected and continued on.

I don’t have any statistics other than my personal experience but I see temporary disconnects of my teammates very regularly. If Anet is now saying that this person will not be able to rejoin because of dishonor then that punishes the remaining 4 the most. The DC player can go on to something else while the 4 remaining get mauled, spend up to 12 mins wasting our time and getting ranked with a loss. Since the games are balanced it’s a statistical certainty most disconnections and subsequent timeout will result in a loss for the team whose teammate DC.

Not having a ~1min grace period sounds honestly like an expeditious but a little awkward way to control some game behavior Anet is observing. I appreciate the effort but ANET please allow a grace window.

Why not just make the reconnect conditional on a time period and using the same character?
