For pvp this is more of a nerf than a buff.
Players can no longer hide behind npc’s or other players to be safe from beam attacks.
As mesmer is capable of keeping up 3 npc (illusions) most of the time, we are disadvantaged by this change more than most classes.

Also, I don’t believe the change was intended to create a new aoe, it was intended to be able to continue hitting your target with beam attacks when they go behind something.

Mesmer needs a 25% Mov. Speed Signet

Me too, better make Signet of Inspiration give only swiftness when out of combat.

Something like this would be terrible, I want speed during combat not out of it
Please never do this Anet.

All this worry about speed is about one thing, having more options of runes or weapon choices, that’s related to combat, not out of combat running.
If they gives us out of combat running they will take something away, and we will still be stuck with the same limits to our options !

also, why did the same heal only hit you for 5 points?
You were damaged enough to recive higher healing, perhaps the defender is not only taking half your damage, but also taking a proc heal from you.
It does appear dificult to explain tho

Perhaps the defender has a higher base healing stat, (its known to have more vitality)
Then when your sigil procs it heals each illusion for a different amount

It makes sense strategicly to have building safe from conditions, so that condition builds are good against players and power builds good against buildings for wvw
otherwise we might all end up in condition builds.

Scepter is best for condition builds
OH Sword is best for power builds
In general when mesmers use OH sword they also use MH sword because we are not happy with the scepters skills.
Even in a condition build I find that MH sword is superior to secpter.

If you have a build your happy with that uses both your welcome to share it

Yeah scepter clones suck badly, they do need something.
I also find the scepter is the worst of our weapons in general, so changing the #1 skill could be an easy way to make it usefull.
Like changing the 3RD hit to a 5 sec confusion, as this would mean the clones need to survive 6secs for each cast of confusion.

Tho i doubt i would use it even with that.

About to hit 80. Need some advice.

Search or ask around about making gold on the TP, there should be someone who can help.
I dont think you need alot of gold, its more about a cost of time

fyi clones dont get the extra bounce, they also dont get any condition duration, so the bleeds, cripple, confusions always do the base duration.

But staff clones are ok without it anyhow, imagine if u had 100% crit rate ( not possible afaik ) your clones would do 1 random condition and 1 bleed, plus the standard bouncing.

This is why I used GS clones in pve, when your crit rate surpasses 50% your GS clones do more damage than staff, naturally if your crit is below 50% then staff clones are probly better.

There is a possible bug whereas the bleeds from clones stop damaging the target if the clone dies, i haven’t confirmed this yet.

First of all, the gear. I want to have both setups: offensive, with power, prec and crit damage, aswell as defensive/suportive for things like dungeons.

I use the opposite:
Defensive – Knights armor for WvW.
Offensive – Berserkers for dungeons or Knights is close enough.

Fastest gold is trading on the TP if you dont find it too boring, and dungeons.
Consider fractals, you can get gold plus usable gear, and fractals is more about learning the dungeon than the gear you use.

Phantasmal Defender

Problem with the defender is that it really takes up 2 slots (signet of illusions )to be of any use at all.
Plus the 20% trait is in the vitality tree ( clones don’t inherit any vitality from us )

Right now, clones apply these conditions:

GS – none

I think that if they fix the scepter one and add vulnerability to the GS one, they are mostly ok. I know Mirror Blade (GS 2) adds vulnerability on its own, but GS clones are quite useless other than for shattering. I don’t think all of them should add a damaging condition untrained, as they are suposed to enhance your weapon playstyle. GS and sword are precision/power weapons and scepter/staff are condition ones.

With 30 in deulist and my crit rate of 75% my GS clones stack bleeds like crazy, if you gave them vulnerability they would be OP, they are already potentialy the highest damaging clone as is.
This is why I used them for leveling ( after you get 15 in duelist )

All clones can cause bleeds when traited, anything more would be OP.

For leveling I used GS clones for thier bleeds. (15 duelist.)
Staff works ok aswell, especially for harder mobs.
you want to maximize your crit chance for this, also get the clones on dodge trait when you can, plus decoy and mirror images.
Additional condition damage helps, but condition duration wont affect the clones bleeds.

clones adopt your crit rate, crit damage and CD damage, plus toughness, but not vitality, power, or condition duration. ( your pre-boons stats )

3 Clones will kill fast and you can spawn them faster than phantasms.

I dont think I have any troubles with taging.

The phantasm builds are typicly:
10dom III
30 duel X, II, V ( or I if u have blink )
0 chaos
25 inspiration I, IV
5 illusions

or 20dom 20duel for the GS trait

Welcome to the Mesmer class.

I do feel you will enjoy this class, note the following.

Firstly you will understand the class better and have less troubles predicting other Mesmers actions.

You can easily run a build that doesn’t require alot of aoe, although the staff skill #5 is one you would probably use very often. I normally have blink as a mandatory stun breaker, but it could be replaced with mirror images for a similar effect.
As already mentioned, the #3 GS skill is so gimp you don’t need to use it.

I would suggest trying out GS/Staff with phantasm build, knights armor and jewlery with exquisite ruby jewls inserted into the jewelery, centaur runes for armor, ice sigil for GS(rampager), perception sigil for staff(knights).
Consumables : master maintance oils & omniberry pies.
For slots I use signet of inspiration( or illusions ), blink, decoy and mass invis.(replace blink with mirror images then when you need to use it you can follow up with F4 – distortion.

This will give you a strong survival build whilst your phantasms deal good damage and you get some extra procs from the pies when using GS.

I have tried many builds all with different sets of exotics and have over 14k kills in WvW, the above build seems to be the most effective in WvW ( currently ), I am very often the last man to survive in bad situations or the only one to escape when others are down, and win far more 1v1’s than I lose, meanwhile I supply enough damage and cripple/chills to be of great use to my groups etc.

One thing I can say about mesmer is we have alot of choices like feedback/nullfield or glass cannon burst builds etc, however in most situations I need the slots for my current skills, you would be supprised at the difference it makes to lose decoy or blink or the signet, so don’t feel obliged to use the aoe’s.

You can swap out the signet for portals or feedback at sieges, no ground targeting for those, also I prefer mass invis instead of time warp (probably due to the culling issues).

I’ve been using these pies with a phantasm build, and toughness gear.
It does work well with GS in WvW, not other weapons.
I’ve always found GS to be a decent WvW weapon but it was difficult to optimize
the gear and build.
Also it works fine with 0/30/30/0/10.

For a glass cannon it could be worth considering rampagers with a shatter/confusion build as this makes your GS clones do some extra damage via bleed stacking.

However a tank/crit build maybe optimal.

I have been trying to figure out a build that we can use mantra’s for extra burst with this food, but I cant seem to give up any slots for mop.
