Your build link is broken. It says “bad link”
Just thought I should let you know.
Yes, for me this is the number one reason why I don’t enjoy the game. In GW1 it was so satisfying to clear a complete zone, and then just run around it, looking at all the sights. In GW2 you never have a moment’s rest to look at the beautiful art.
This is one of the major things I miss from gw1, the sense of freedom one felt after vanquishing a map of being able to run around do mapping , or just enjoy the scenery knowing that as long as you stay in that map, there are no more enemies. It was really something quite special.
I never played GW1, but this feature sounds really REALLY fantastic. I would love that in GW2.
Thank you very much.

The endlessly spawning fanatics and venteran chanters are too much. Everyone groans when this fractal pops up now. And sometimes the hammer bugs out and doesn’t give you a #4 after you have tagged and killed a mob.
Some classes do seem to fit certain roles more than others, but it’s a small matter.

A non-refundable 36 gold to list a pear as a joke?
I think you’d be far more amused if you used the gold to hire another character to follow you around as your own personal bafoon for a day.
puts on foolscap
Anet should make a mini dungeon for wintersday called “Winter SLAY Ride” with vicious deer as the primary foe!
:)
Confession:
My Mesmer isn’t wearing any underware. But don’t get too excited because hes a hairy, pear-shaped, 385lb norn named “Sretchy-Pants”.

I noticed the ascended rings’ infusion slots are marked as either defensive or offensive. I also noticed that we can purchase very basic agony resistance infusions from one of the merchant golems inside the FOTM foryer. Unfortunately, the vendor there only sells a basic defensive AR infusion and something called a “versatile” infusion.
The basic defensive infusion fits only defensive slots and costs 75 fractal relics.
The versatile infusion fits both defensive and offensive slots but costs 225 relics.
As you can see, the vendor doesn’t seem to have any basic offensive AR infusions for 75 relics. I wonder if this was just an oversight.
I just salvaged 20 level-80 rares, using the yellow (rare quality) salvage kits, and I received 9 ectos. This was my first time doing this, so I have nothing to compare it to. Anyway, I hope the data helps.
I chose Asura when I made my character, and now when I look back I don’t know if my choice was brilliant or just blind luck. I am very pleased with my Asura! The animations and sounds make me laugh sometimes.
The portal cooldown nerf did absolutely nothing to change the situation of portal bombing in WvW – it just ruined portal as a skill for anything but portal bombing in WvW.
This quote is the best assessment of the situation. Although I would amend that non-WvW portal utility has been sharply decreased rather than ruined.

The point is that if I’m in the middle of farming, and I run out of space in my inventory, I WILL post stuff on the TP for prices that will sell quickly. If that means taking a loss of a few copper here and there to make space in my inventory for Rare and Exotics, so be it.
Sorry mate.
I believe the above to be the most accurate answer.
I was perplexed by this for a while myself. Why would anyone sell at a loss? …But here we have the answer. It’s simply a matter of convenience when a player is out in the bush with a fat inventory.
I noticed that the average price for 100 gems during last week raised from 70 silver to 76 silver (Blacktide server).
As of the time of this post, on Dragonbrand, 100 gems costs 1 gold and 24 silver.
I don’t like experiencing diminishing returns when I’m out trying to get 7 more intricate totems to finish my next tier of artificing. However, I’m a little scared of what impact botting gold sellers will have on the economy if those diminishing returns are removed. Not enough facts are known for me to make a judgement one way or the other. But those are my thoughts on it.
There are also back pieces that you can purchase from one of the golems in the forier of the Fractals of the Mists dungeon.
On Dragonbrand server, Lionguard Demolitionist Tawel is stuck mid way on the spiral ramp, and is not advancing even when we kite mobs up to him.
Yeah, the normal reef drakes are a little bit on the unreasonable side. Their confusion spam is a little too frequent and long lived, and their pull mechanic imobilizes you after the pull. If you can manage to kite them without running unto other mobs, they’re doable, but your character must possess an effective way of keeping them slowed to do that. That’s my take on it anyway.
I agree, I went there on my Ele and got one shotted by a red circle on the ground. No, not an AOE… something under the ground. One shot… that was all.
I got one shotted by this too. It was one of those burrower worm things that you see in many other zones, except this one is truely brutal.
The creatures that really got my goose were those confusion spamming red drakes. The confusion stacks were just brutal, and cleansing didn’t seem to help much.
That part of the event-quests is no longer available.
I wish I had seen this thread earlier. I’ve been running around trying to figure out why I couldn’t progress in this questline, thinking I had missed something.
I was unable to complete this as well. That darn Noll was MIA for me (Dragonbrand).
The dungeon is fantastic !!!
I can’t disagree with you about the other aspects of the event(s), unfortunately, but the Fractal dungeon is fantastic!
I noticed this as well, no place to store my fresh ripe passion fruit. Accomodations must be found soon before they all spoil.
I think this is a great idea.
Make everything free. That’ll completely annihilate the gold sellers income, and hopefully they’ll all get their cars repossessed.
It would also make all the hard work the hackers did, coding those sophisticated botting programs, for naught! Then we can point and laugh at those guys too.
I know this would never happen, but it’s still fun to imagine just how bad it would pork the botters and gold sellers.
I’ve played these games for quite some time, and I’ve never seen this many bots. It’s disheartening.
This discussion has evolved from one of gender to one of perspective, the latter of which I think quite interesting. It’s made me stop to think for a second. Looking back I find that when I was 15 years “newer” to RPGs, I usually played same gendered toons that I saw my self as. However, that perspective and the mystique that came with it, seem to have subsided a great deal. Nowadays I play a wide spectrum of character races and genders, and now I see myself more as the puppeteer rather than the puppet itself.
The interesting thing to note, for me at least, is that in my previous perspective, where I was the character rather than the puppeteer, my gaming experience was far more immersive and fantastical.
Some might say that my change in perspective is a loss to me, and I might have to agree with them.
These sad people have not yet discovered the awesomeness of Asura.
My one and only character is an Asura with the smallest body-type available. (I wanted to be a small as possible). She’s tiny enough to hide behind a coffee cup, and the way her little arms flail about when shes jumping around brings me grat joy!
… and she has the absolute best /cheer!
This one is becomming quite the “back and forth”.
Many men will play a female character in this type of game because girls who are badaasses are apealing to them. Its this same demographic of men who like movies such as “Kill Bill” and “Kickaass”.
Many of these men would not likely play a female character in a non violent game, such as the Sims. (Although some still might, I imagine).
I propose that GW2 implement a security key option for players who want that extra bulwark against account hacking. Keys have proven to work very well for other game titles.
Hackers, botters and exploiters, all seem to be gunning for GW2. Every bit of defense helps, and an hour not spent restoring an account is an hour that can be used to go after botters and gold sellers.
Getting to switch servers every 7 days for free is still leaps and bounds above many other games, many of which require monthly subscriptions or payed transfers (or don’t allow you to switch at all).
In any PVP arena, buff rewards exacerbate imbalance. They do function well as incentives, but at great cost.
I think the most incentivizing reward, with the least imbalance to gameplay, is coin.
Magister Tassi was the Ebenezer Scrooge of this event.
No candy, but you DO get to go play in some caves and a sewer. Also, nothing says Halloween like “writing a biography”.
I expect her to return at Christmas and send us off to gather rocks or shovel manure.
Yes, she’s gettin’ coal in her stocking!
I’ve seen this happen once, recently.
It took 20 people a long time to capture Godsword from a single thief. The end result was that about 5 people from the group got disgusted and left.
I can’t opine with confidence on the matter, as I’ve only just recently started playing this very cool game, but I will say this… any mechanic with that much of a negative impact on the game …is bad.
I agree with the sentiments of the author. The regularly occuring disparity of team size is a problem. It inhibits players’ “fun”, and I think it probably undermines Anet’s original vision for WvW. I was just in a game afflicted by this very thing. It simply wasn’t any fun.
Incentivising an outnumbered team to participate, as the author suggests, may be a good solution, and I think the best lure is money. Maybe the heavily outnumbered should get alot more coin.
Theres a party? Can I go? Please, please please?
jumps up and down
My toon’s an Asura as well. I finally beat it after two hours of straight attempts, but no guides, as I wanted to get it on my own. I enjoyed myself even in the failed attempts. It’s a crafty little jumping puzzle. I do hate Charr and the ‘fatter’ Norns now though. They can all roast in the fiery pits of Hades now.
How does one pronounce “Orichalcum” anyway?
Duke Blackrose.4981
Let’s list it all:
A one-boss dungeon with short platforming parts. (Today’s event).
Two PvP modes (Lunatic Inquisition and Reaper’s Rumble). I really hope the Inquisition becomes a permanent mode later.
An infuriatingly difficult but impressive jumping puzzle.
A scavenger hunt across Kryta.
The random doors in certain areas and the candy corn all over Tyria.
Unique enemies and items.
Costume Brawling and several new costumes.
That’s INSANE. It’s a huge burst in content for a temporary event and I can’t help but wonder how many hours the programmers slaved over these things.
Issues are to be expected when there is this much content with this short of a development window, but considering how much they offered and the overall quality of it all, I’ve never seen a more impressive holiday event in any game.
All of the above. There’s so much content, so many new areas, so many fantastic looking scenes. I’m blown away that this is comming from a free to play game. I recently bought some gems from anet to go have fun with because of all the awesome festivities.
Donutdude,
I might as well simply uninstall GW2 since I never play anymore.
If/when you do, don’t forget to un-bookmark the GW2 forums as well. This is just a friendly reminder.
I’ve learned all of the weapons in my short time in GW2. All of them have potent situational abilities, but the combo that I’ve settled on for leveling is the Staff-Greatsword. It seems to be a very potent combination. Greatsword has terrific damage and decent clone prodection, and the staff is fantastic at support/defense and rounding up multiple mobs.
