Tried it just after a reset – still broken – still kittened that this bug is here after 2 years
Still broken a year on – go team Anet!
Still broken – I tried the sea turtle and it hasn’t made a change :-( I’ll try a few more times just in case.
Pointless necro on a post that barely even applies any more, since conditions are no longer capped and I haven’t seen copper fail in ages.
Since wintersday ended the maps I have been on have failed red 2 out of 3 times so I think the base idea is still valid – stack as much condi on it as possible and have ranged people take out the bubbles before they get to him.
My GF is self admittedly as casual as they come and she’s been a very hard sell on the expansion. Enemy difficulty is one of the few things she hasn’t complained about.
Me and my GF are both casual players (no ascended or legendary items, barely any dungeons or wvw or pvp) and we are finding the content very challenging. I have run away and died so many times it’s become our new battlecry. I have yet to be in a map that has completed any of the major events. We play in HoT for a couple hours and then we either leave for SW or crafting because it’s not fun to play.
We ran into a person yesterday who was trying to get to the next part of the story and couldn’t. They tagged along with us and with the 3 of us we managed to get to the next part.
Maybe stupid question, but why not just run past mob packs you dont want to fight?
I’ve tried that – there are a lot of mobs that seem to have cripple or other attacks that slow you down – and most times I have died. Sometimes I get away by throwing myself off the nearest cliff and hoping there is something below I can glide too. Or I finally get to where I want to be to find I have a train of mobs following me to join in with whatever I’m there for.
The content seems to be catering to groups of people rather than individuals. I’m guessing that the idea is that once you have your guild hall the guild will then run the new content for mats or event rewards or whatever else because farmable.
I agree, the cutscene quality seems to have taken a nosedive. Just finished one of the footsteps story missions which had a cutscene and one of the characters neck seemed to become a bit bulgy at one point, the armor on their front bumps was pixellated and their eyes seemed to become a bit loose when they got ‘surprised’.
It basically looked like an intern had been given the job of making placeholder art which was then left in on release :`(
I got stuck in the prologue. I joined a group starting the prologue and we managed to get all the way through but at the end (where it tells you to start learning gliding) it took me back to the Silverwastes Prologue mission rather than the Verdant. The mission looked the same except there were no people to talk to or anything to trigger the portal back to Verdant. I had definitely progressed through the story since it was telling me to master stuff. In the end I had to portal to some other place then back into Silverwaste and then I could get through the portal to Verdant.
So we can have non-guild members help us unlock our guild hall? Seems a bit strange but if that is the case then when I finally get on and up to that point I might have to take someone up on the offer of a helping hand.
I’ve been looking around and haven’t found any definitive answers about how small guilds are being handled with the new expansion. I have a small guild (2 active members and 2 semi-active members) where the active members have bought HoT and the others are unlikely too.
I understand that we will need to adventure to unlock the guild hall and that it will likely require at least 5+ players to do so. Is this true and if so how are guilds like mine meant to manage it?
My charr would love boob plates – he has generously proportioned non-lactation devices that need protecting.
Also most of the toys on guild wars have no tangible benefit. I can run around with a balloon that floats above me so I don’t see the downside.
I realise that there is a lot of work involved and don’t expect it for already existing armours. But I’m suggesting that armours created in the future could be designed to give us options when it comes to which genderised style of armour we can use.
I was looking through a gallery of male armours for something that fitted with a certain narrative but could not seem to find any. I would like to suggest allowing us to choose whether we want to use the male or female versions of an armour irrespective of what gender we are.
For instance I would like to wear the female version of the Arah dungeon armour rather than the male on my male character.

Name another MMO where you can alter profession or race once you leveled your character to max?
I’m not saying it’s technically not doable, just that it’s not favorable to the business model of MMOs.
DDO (dungeons & dragons online) does it. You get to max level, you spend money or time getting exotic ingredients to make it possible for yourself to ascend. On ascension you get to choose your race and gender and start from the beginning again. You get a few improvements for ascending – a couple extra points to spend at creation and a few new skills. You also get an xp penalty so it takes you longer to get to max level again. But if you do you can ascend again…repeat…
DDO allows you to buy an improvement for your account/characters so you can start a few levels up (equivalent to about level 10 or 20 in GW2) which some people take.
It’s been awhile since I ascended so I’m hazy on the benefits and penalties but in general you are slightly better off with ascending.
