Oh then please enlighten me, Make sure not to add the skill-less “zerg fest” pathetic excuse for pvp content or their pathetic excuse of a crafting system, please enlighten me, please make sure not to add the boring same events that happen in different zones that are suppose to make things more “fun” go ahead enlighten me, think about it for a bit I’ll be waiting.

Level 80 is high enough and the way this game is designed there is no need to go beyond that, Leveling in this game isn’t that great so please..don’t ever raise the level cap.

GW2 has given me the most epic game experience ever! And, since I realised that ESO is currently not worth my money (played it in beta), it seems I will spend year 2014 under the sign of GW2.)
I think the main problem is they keep taking away content, why not keep the content they added, I hate this, give content then take it away bs, is there anything ever permanent added to the game?
You speak mostly of what every new mmo goes through..bugs etc things might not work it’s part of life cycle of a game, every mmo out there went through this, but guess what? it gets fixed and the game goes on. People expecting a 100% working game at the beginning is nuts, and did you actually not expect Anet to not add some type of gear progression at all what so ever? That’s a little naive. The gear grind in this game is small compared to other games, literally, I’ve played games where the gear grind is so bad it is completely out of reach.
Also I am a casual as well and I can still do fractals and do what is needed, you are making the situation worse than it is. Sit back and realize how good we actually have it.
Never expected it to work, ive expected priority on fixing like most games did! What did i get? Focus on new contents, and the shock that 2!!! designers work on balance, hell yea…

For me, I like the dungeon. Ive made my peace with ascended gear although it would be better if it were changed.
I dont like the fractal level system. I think many can agree with this.

-WoW does a gear grind 10x better than arenanet.
-If I am going to gear grind, I will do it in WoW because in WoW there are things to do with that gear grind from tier to tier. When I mash my head senselessly in getting a full ascended set, it will only be fractals that are left to test my “meddle”.

Oh okay so you just don’t want to put effort into the game, it’s not about the treadmill itself, you just want it to be easy. I get it now.
I think a lot of you are extremely exaggerating over this, it’s not that big of a deal, some of you are acting like a teenage girl where they run into something they don’t like and act like the world is going to end, if you don’t like the new dungeons don’t do it, stop being so emotional about it.
Also..rofl the person above me, you are complaining about gear grind but you GO BACK TO WOW which has a serious gear grind? WHAT?! /boggle I don’t understand some of you..wow..Hey guys Anet added 1 sorta grindy tier, I HATE GRINDING FOR GEAR, oh well I am going back to WoW where the gear grind is huge..okay that makes sense. Complaining about the gear treadmill system then going back to wow is crazy.
^ As I said..pretty much rewards that really are worthless and doesn’t increase your power whatsoever. Here’s an example how I see it:
Brian “Hey man! Look at my new mask, what do you think?”
Jason “Not bad, what do does it do? and how long did it take to get it?”
Brian “..Well It took me a few days and it looks awesome!”
Jason “Right..but what type of benefit does it give you? Does it increase the power of your character in any way at all?”
Brian “Well it doesn’t do anything for me at all, it’s just for cosmetic purposes, but it does look good..”
Jason “So let me get this straight, you spent a few days working on getting an item that does absolutely nothing for you at all besides making you look different?”
Brian “Yeah..I guess I did.”
See the problem? Maybe you like working for useless items but I sure don’t.
While many people are unhappy with the lost shores update and ascended gear. For now at least, I have faith in arenanet and believe that future updates will be better!
I personally think arenanet simply made a mistake….no person is perfect and neither is no company. I don’t see ascended gear going away but i believe they will make obtaining it easier and think very carefully before adding a new type of gear in the future.I see nothing wrong with adding a new type of gear as long as its done right. For ascended gear, i think they did a poor job of implementing it.
I also believe future events will be better. I think while the halloween event was great…the lost shores was lackluster in comparision.
Do any of you guys still have faith in arenanet and believe they make up for their mistake like i do?
I am waiting to see what the open QA answers are like on monday.
—If I see plans to continue putting more “agony” in this game at the expense of skill…
—If I see no plans to encourage people to leave fractals and to stop splintering our playerbase…
—If I see any plans for another tier beyond Ascended…
I will leave this game, never buy from ANet again, and more importantly forsake mmo’s all together.
I’m kinda in the same position as you are. I’m really just waiting to see how the AMA turns out. I’m hoping it would turn out positivly good.

I mean..it’s more fun to complete hearts and do long boring drawn out old dungeons that barely give any upgrades at all and are hardly worth the effort, oh oh and yeah! it’s fun breaking down walls and getting zerged in WvW, yes please please keep this kind of content and make sure all the players are doing it! MOAR HEARTS PLEASE!!!
Eh most games have a vertical progression, heck even halo and COD. People like to see power rise as they invest time into it.
IF you want horizontal progression, go to facebook or something …
Except that this game had been advertised and marketed for years as not having vertical progression.
See, this is the gist of the problem with the pro gear grind crowd. You just can’t seem to get it through your heads that the problem that most of us have with the gear grind is that most of us dislike that treadmill mechanic with a passion. We realize that its just a lazy design concept implemented simply to keep players on a treadmill chasing the almighty +1. Had they been honest with us from the beginning and simply gave us the slightest clue that this would turn into a gear grind hamster treadmill game, we would have stayed far, far away from it and let the gear grind hamsters have at it. Instead they strung us along, and a short two months after releasing the game did a bait & switch and turned the game into exactly what many long time loyal GW fans hate about MMORPGs, and they did so without warning and only AFTER TAKING OUR MONEY!
Despicable is the only way to describe it!
So let me get this straight, you want there to be no new armor at all added to the game at lvl 80, you want no new content added at level 80 unless its equal to old content but why do it then to begin with? You want people sitting around doing absolutely nothing at all at level 80 when map completion is done? What the heck do you expect people to do? You do know that breaking down walls or getting zerged in WvW gets boring after a while right? What do you expect people to do? You want same mind numbing dungeons but without any upgrades so you can feel special and not have to work for anything? Why even have a level up system? Some of you people just baffle the hell out of me.

No grind? I feel like I am grinding all the time, my highest level is 36, I just grind hearts and look for PoI’s and Skill Challenges and vistas all the time, feels like a grind to me.
Leveling in this game is one of the slowest games I’ve played in a while, yes there’s the so called events, but they take a decent amount of time and give low amounts of xp.
. . . you never played EverQuest. Every 5 levels after 30 (that is, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60) seemed to require about ten times the experience of the previous level by some devious bug. From there you were okay and it seemed more in line with before the “Heck Level”. Until the next one. And don’t get me started on anything past 60.
And for years they were saying “no such thing” despite being able to demonstrate with timestamped screenshots.
Oh and the icing? Dying took 5-10% of your experience total to the next level. Not a flat amount, so you lost more XP during a “Heck Level”.
Be very grateful you missed this. It was a grind of nigh epic proportions.
You are comparing an old school mmo to this? I’ve played grinding games, my first being Asheron’s Call, please don’t give me the “well at least it isn’t like this game.” excuse, you people are saying this isn’t a grinding game, there is a grind in this game. Leveling in this game is slow, maybe not as slow as the old mmo’s that are 10 + YEARS OLD!!! but still slow nontheless. (and yes I did play Everquest as well)

There has to be some type of grind I agree, there has to be something that keeps the game alive, without that, it’s exactly like you said, people leave. Also I think people are overreacted way to much over this. It really isn’t that big of a deal.
