1st I dought that 2 core LT will get 50FPS in lions arch.
2nd never compair other games thats just kittened.
3rd make sure the video card is actually running @ x16 speed.
4th are you cranking up the shadows, reflections, and SS that kill the CPU?
1. While I appreciate your opinion, that’s not really relevant to the discussion. And while I could post benchmarks, right now my laptop is running Linux and I don’t really feel like reinstalling Windows just to prove someone on the internet wrong.
2. Actually, comparing other games is kind of the whole point. If games which are more graphically intense run better, then wouldn’t that mean there’s a problem with the game that’s running much worse?
3. …yes. It is on 16×.
4. The settings on “lowest” mean that everything is on low, or none. So if I’m getting 25fps on lowest, then yes, that would mean shadows and reflections are off.
It is not the card, is either ur CPU or some hardware/software malfunction, i have a 7950 and i have 0 issues, notice GW2 will push your CPU much harder than bioshock or Tomb Raider. Everything performance related in GW2 is 90% of the times CPU related and 10% of some driver or the GPU itself acting up. So yeah monitor the CPU/GPU loads, temsp, and clock speeds while playying on windowed mode in order to isolate the problem.
CPU seems to be averaging around 80% while gw2 runs. Although strangely, on auto-detected settings (which for some reason is some combination of medium-low settings) the game seems to be getting high 30s to low 40s while in Lion’s Arch now. That’s better.. but it’s certainly not the solid 60fps+ with every option on high that I would expect I should be able to get with a brand new $1500 system. Even Crysis 3 only recommends an i3 3ghz, or a 3.4ghz for high performance. Surely people can’t be expected to buy an i7 to get a solid framerate for GW2.
So I just built a new computer this week, which consists of:
i5 3470 Ivy Bridge (3.2ghz)
3gb Radeon HD 7950 in a 16x pci-e slot (using the stable 13.1 drivers)
8gb ddr-1600 ram
and I put gw2 on the Samsung 840 SSD, not that that affects fps so much as load times.
Thing is, on Bioshock Infinite and Tomb Raider, with every possible setting turned up as far as they will go (including TressFX enabled, running at 1920×1080 res) I’m getting averages of 70 fps.
Guild Wars 2?
I’m standing in the Lion’s Arch trading post with everything on lowest and I’m getting 25fps, with dips into the mid 10s when I walk around or turn the camera sometimes. If I select auto-detect, it gives me a bunch of Medium-level settings, and averages 20 fps with drops of below 10 when moving.
This.. obviously.. isn’t right. Especially since my laptop with a 2ghz Sandy Bridge i5 and a Radeon 6770m could push 50fps on High settings. It’s certainly not my first rodeo when it comes to computers, so I know for a fact that I have everything installed correctly and fully updated – and the flawless performance from other games backs that up. Is there perhaps some incompatibility on gw2 with the 7950?
Same. Located in NS, Canada.
Pendragon: That happened to me last night, a friend messaged me while I was at work asking if I’d left the game running, but I distinctly remembered closing it. When I got home and opened the game I was able to log right in, apparently it showed me go offline and immediately back online. That was over 12 hours ago though, I can’t get past the login now.
If anyone does twitter maybe try messaging them there, they usually keep a fairly close eye on that I think.
I wonder if the server is down. I’m on Tarnished Coast.
Servers are definitely up. If they were down there’d be about 500 different threads complaining about it. My server in particular is Stormbluff Isle, and I’m talking to several people who are online right now through an IM program.
Getting this as well. Where are you guys located? I’m in Nova Scotia, Canada. A friend from Portland, Oregon is logged on and someone from Texas also came online about two minutes ago.

I have nothing valuable to add to this discussion, I’m just going to +1 it and say I’d like to see it implemented.
