I’m a returnee to pvp.
I don’t want to have to test this out, I should be able to find this information somewhere right??
I was chastised for using ranged from inside the capture point to cleave a downed player. My teammate indicated you get 1 point for cleave, 5 for a stomp.
Is this true and is there some place I can read about specifics like this?
I really appreciate your help and hope to see you on the field.
There is usually a hotkey to enable/disable reshade.
I have mine set to Scroll Lock for another game that i use it for.
Also double check your installation, the dll has to be in the bin folder not the root gw2 folder.
Roaming with this build: http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-c;4VwF_0J5R-Fd0;9;49T-T-2;005A;128B;15N0-U;9NCGv-A;0S;1VhVlWqXv2147a5iWQ-5VW8aNX8a;9;9;9;7kkkkkk;9;1Ek3y
Is there anything I can change to defend against dagger/perma stealth thieves and mesmsers.
The trait shadow’s regeneration pretty much nulls all of my damage and I have a heck of a time not being 3 shotted by bs/cnd/bs.
I really want to run s/x in wvw and I’m happy with my stats.
Appreciate any advice
Shield does provide extra armor, at least a little bit, even without traits.
Oh, you’re right. It’s 61 toughness. My apologies for derailing
The shield has an aoe knockback and as such in spvp and wvw it will always have a use.
But it’s a one trick pony and often outclassed by the focus which is technically a better shield.
Focus can block attacks and stop incoming damage by utilizing the blind.
It seems extremely lacking coming from every-other-game-in-the-world where a shield provides stat bonuses such as blocking and armor. While in this game it is just another weapon.
I would like some variety from the scepter 1 as a chain, its currently very bland and does not mix well with any talents (besides rhs and scepter power)
It would match its skill set if it stacked vulnerability, but I believe that will overlap other classes scepter skills.
scepter 2 is ok, it should be counted as a symbol for traits, but not have any additional effect
scepter 3 is great, but after I use it I generally swap to a primary weapon set as the scepter is left with nothing
I would love to see more damage on the hammer and more easy access to the symbol.
People don’t want to stand still for me to chain the auto attack on them. I also feel penalized for interrupting the auto attack for other abilities.
Enemies often move outside of the symbols radius for some reason.
Possible options are to make glacial heart chill be random % based chance for all targets in a symbol.
Hammer 4 is counterproductive, in most situations, as most enemies enjoy being punted away from me. The time it takes to re-engage (if desired) is usually just as long as the enemies down. It is only good for denying stomps and rezzes, while an aoe effect would be preferred for that situation.
I personally would rather see it changed to a daze and not punt the target. With a secondary effect of extra damage or chill.
We just weren’t built for chasing but rather to rely on our allies who specialize in it.
I’m not sure what the Zealous Defender build is. I’m taking it that someone else has described my build with a different name? If that’s the case, I didn’t know about it. I only really frequent this forum for GW2.
But the build you linked to was a similar build to waht I used to run with before the Virtuous Blade build but with Meditations rather than AH. It was great. Had extremely high survivability! But as you put it, I always felt I lacked decent damage. And that’s when I came up with the VB build, and haven’t changed it since.
I was actually going to put that build up as a more tanky alternative in the Reserved Post I had put up after this build, but wasn’t sure if I was going to guide it.
I actually meant zealous blade :X
I had just read the zealous defender post
I feel it will play as a rather strong build in a focused, group environment. Conditions might be an issue, but you’ll mitigate direct damage like a champ.
The problem with Zealous Blade Builds is that it mirrors this build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fUAQNAR8dlYg67mFyIEf4ESOjCEBxPgRXPSIKihA-e
You lose:
Zealot’s Speed: With this build the expectation is to sit at 90% health and without honor traits to buff the symbol the benefits are minor.
Fiery Wrath: 10% damage to burning targets. This is a great sustain ability, but without effort it does not help with burst.
Symbolic Exposure: vulnerability to foes – 1% per tick
Zealous Blade: 5% damage and 25 healing on almost every hit
Summary of loss:
10% dmg during periodic burning
3% dmg from periodic vulnerability
5% dmg from one of your weapon sets
25 health on attack
200 power
20% condition duration (burning, blind and vulnerability)
What you gain:
Retributive armor: Optional 5% crit
Might of the Protector: Running Focus this will grant you might on 5 – also Optional run shelter for more blocks to set up burst
Altruistic Healing: 69 + .01 *400 = 73 health on applying boon – with vig precision this occurs on crit, symbols, shouts and virtues
20% crit damage
200 toughness

It really isn’t a bad build for spvp, But it’s going to be mediocre damage and low health, with no health sustain.
I’m sure you plan on being in GS most of the time so I don’t think your traits are a huge waste. I can see a use for this build in zvz, where you get in and get out fast and pray there are no condi-s.
Let us know the purpose of the build and we can provide better feedback.
Hey guardians,
So I’m here to ask a simple question. What is a guardian?
The description we have from Anet is extremely basic.
Guardians have “virtues” that they can sacrifice to empower their allies or impede their foes.
Then we get to the quoted text “I’ll guard you. Let them come through ME first!”
This is what led me to the class.
In my translation: A class which could control the sway of battle, either through being a boon to their allies or being a bane to the enemy.
I consider this ‘bane’ to be a force that the enemy must be dealt with before the others, for one reason or another. (disrupts/control)
I consider this ‘boon’ to be an anchor to their allies, providing a means for their survival until dealt with.
Are we killed first? Do we guard anything?
Generally the necro is targeted first because they provide the highest threat. Generally the hammer warrior provides the most control and sway in a battle because of their high health pool and area cc.
So, are we guardians or something else?
My current problems; of which none were addressed:
*Perplexity runes
*Limited Build options
*High condition damage classes that can face tank me
*My ability to survive and or finish players grounded in my access to mobility
*Lack of Direct Damage effects
*Focus on Zone control that does not transfer to WvW
I guess I’ll be that guy in this post,
My guardian is on hold til they do something about this.
I enjoy running every class more than my guardian at the moment. But I also feel that I might be burnt out as I’ve been main-ing it far too long.
Guys,
The most important part of the buff is the points on staked player.
If you are in a Borderland you will be wanting these points for your team.
Don’t forget this, if you get the buff taken off you will not be supporting your server.
And here I thought I needed to find a different game to play.
Thank You Anet, now do something about the lag and I’d pay a sub.
any advice for in your face engi’s when I’m running a bunker build, hm/x/sh
conditions to the moon, and they have tons of cc to keep me from dodge/healing
thanks guys, I love you
Hey guys,
How much crit is recommended for an EM+AH build, assuming no one is going to be giving me fury?
Will be running small man team, probably GS+ X with need for high mobility.
I would assume I will want at the least 30% and at the most 50%. I have a tendency to favor power and secondary’s over precision, and I do not want to be short on it when the build is designed around EM.

Hi, My name is Merril (Merrillian in game)
I play with a small wvw skirmish Guild called Riot.
The decision you are making here has a few steps two it.
The best place to start is to make a Warrior and Guardian and put them into “The Mists” to play some 15 v 15. This will show you what you can expect to find in a general WvW scenario – where you will not be the target of a large group.
Things to note are how you handle the condition meta, how succesful you are in helping your allies and how you handle pressure in a heavy cc situation.
Find out which class you enjoy playing in this type of environment first. This is the main reason to roll a warrior or guardian.
Second find a guild that you want to WvW with and see what classes they need. You do not want to be the #3 or #4 support guardian on the field.
What I’m looking for is the ability to support a zerg if i need to and to be able to survive decently in those head on zerg vs zerg fights, while doing decent damage to auctally feel like im putting pressure on the enemy. (my thiekittenda gets squashed
underfoot instantly).
Guardians fair better in zergs and can do decent AoE pressure with GS/Hammer. You’r support will be limited by aoe buff caps, but you can gear for boon duration and healing power to increase these support capacities.
You throw in that you want to put on “pressure”
There are a few ways to do that; Damage and Crowd Control are the major ones that come to mind, but providing heals and stability to your allies can apply mental pressure to your enemies.
It is important to realize that providing both support and “decent damage” (if that is what you are after) may not be possible.
Im also looking for the ability to solo roam if i feel the want to and be able to hold my own in a 1v1 or even a 1v2 if it pops up.
Guardians make excellent solo roamers with a few caveats; If your enemy wants to run from you, they will. Meanwhile if you are running a zerker build you will have a harder time running and avoiding damage than a warrior.
in exit:
Guardians bring certain things to fights; stability, blast finishers, and dodge heals with reliable cc.
This goes extremely well with a zerg playstyle.
Personally I don’t zerg and I find myself needing to fit into my small groups ‘team’ play. I’ll run my guardian, but if we have a water field running engi or any other guardians, I usually switch to an alt.
For Solo, warriors are pretty OP at the moment and I’m enjoying mine
Silv got me into this build

It’s the only burst build I’ve run that I feel like I’m applying adequate pressure.
Basically slot JI and Smite, save your 3rd for a precast dmg ability (sy or sprit weapon).
Stack your boons before you goin in:
smite > chains of light > focus 5 > Ray of Judgment -switch to mace- Virtue of Justice
JI > zealots flame > Symbol of Faith > Zealots Fire > Protector’s Strike > Smite Condition
Cleansing Flame (while kiting)
I was hoping to find a glossy black for this setup, but it doesn’t exist. Firey midget Lord Vader instead.
Taking advice on weapon skins.
Great play as usual! Subbed and liked.
Constructive crit~ Check the color and contrast on your output before upload
Would like to see some mix gameplay, do you have a hammer war or other cc you can run with? You would destroy.
Hey Celebratty how is it going?
Glad you are enjoying the Guardian, it is a class of many virtues (pun intended)!

Pretty mayo support build.
Food’s I’ve been trying: Chocolate Omnomberry Cream, Bowl of Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew. Ghost isn’t that great with the low crit my gear has.
If anyone has ideas on how to swap gear around to be more offensive I’d appreciate it.
