I’d like to give a shout out to TC and the awesome time we had at Godslore on Saturday night. You guys had two zergs up there, both bigger than our one army and we held you off for quite a while. That Char just kept circling the one zerg over and over. First time we got a good amount of bags. The second battle we couldnt muster as many troops so I’m sure you guys got a ton of bags.
Anyways, was the best time we have had during this horrible stretch of matches.

Future large scale PvP games might not have it server based due to the problems faced by GW2.
They might have good (elves and dwarves) vs neutrals (humans) vs evil (orcs and goblins). This way people on different servers would fight together.
They might have fewer and therefore larger servers. Or there might be more matches with smaller numbers.
They will try and improve on GW2’s design.
That’s not very hard to do since they have ruined their design.

So instead of TC fighting JQ which will give them some good fight. They are fighting like rank 10-15 server?
The deviation is too large.
- TC can’t fight #3 JQ, because #3 JQ is busy fighting #2 SoR and #1 BG.
instead, #4 TC is fighting #7 Mag and #8 SoS. #7 and #8 are not by any means rank 10-15.
btw, #4 TC can’t fight #5 DB and #6 FA, because #5 and #6 are busy this week giving #12 CD a chance to prove that it deserves to move up.
really, these are all reasonable matchups. look at some of the outcomes in EU if you want to find servers who have a real reason to complain.

Fun fact, did you know SoS had outmanned buff for the first 30 minutes tonight? Don’t roll up with your huge zergs and say we have the numbers.
To give TC credit though, we haven’t seen those big zergs as much tonight. Perhaps the rest of TC hates reruns as much as everyone else and are off playing other games because ArenaNet insists on poisoning the well.
SoS is listed as a Full server. Now, I could be wrong, but that would mean you have numbers. So, if you have numbers, but can’t get them to come out and play. Do something about it.

TC zerging isn’t the issue.

Numbers win. Run in huge… I mean HUGE zergs on every map and run… I mean RUN from every open field fight.
You havent shown anything new. Your server is much bigger and wins cause of huge framerate killing zergs.
Unless you just showed up in the past month, you should know this. We beat you even up. You win because numbers win. Not just in players, but in resources from those players.

Yet another week facing Zerg Coast….
4 out of 5 weeks we are matchup with TC and now we got guilds maybe looking to leave due to these horrible matchups every week.We haven’t had one decent matchup since these dumb random matches began.
We’ve actually lost 4 WvW guilds this past week due to this ridiculous charade.
The only thing this catastrophic failure of a system is achieving is forcing even more people onto a smaller and smaller group of servers (wvw people that is).
I’ve been on my server since release day and even I am thinking of moving to another server or quitting altogether =(
I’m sorry but I am at a complete loss to understand such incredible incompetence.
This times 10. My little guild is thinking of leaving too. It’s just bad. The sad thing is that I think this is what anet wanted. More pay to move. Cause you can’t be this bad at something in this day and age of mmos. This match making is horrendous.

Its not fun fighting against a gigantic server week in and week out. We tried for a couple weeks. Now guilds are transferring off and this server is going to get rolled for weeks on end.
Anet created a garbage system and arent smart enough to fix it.

You seem to have forget a lot of terrible events with the old system.
Then the game stablized. This wacky randomness could lead to transfers and the mess they had with the first system.
Those on the t3 servers that can be matched against the t1 servers may see movement away. Same with the t8 servers. No one wants to get smashed every week.
But perhaps that is what they want.

I see no point in entering WvW. If we bust our humps to keep just what we have in EB, we gain points and still get crushed by huge zergs. Why would I want that? The last two weeks my guild has filled keeps with seige and owned Veloka most of the time. Why? All that effort, we lose and we STILL get put up against larger population servers to waste another week. So why? Why keep trying? So I start leveling an alt. Give the game maybe the next two weeks to fix itself.

SoS. We do well against servers our own size. We just havent gone up against a server our own size in three weeks. We still give good fights though.

Thief restealthing in GW2 is one of the more abusive abilities I have played in an mmo.
It is one of the better defensive classes in the game. It can get a lil glitchy at times, but man when you are on with a thief, you can roll groups of people. And as much as I love my thief, that should never happen.
What I don’t understand is the need for newer mmos to try and remove permanent stealth from the game and add in something like restealthing on a short timer. You get crap classes like the ones in Rift and WAR or you get abusive stuff like the Thief in GW2. When I say abusive, I don’t mean overpowered. I mean everything stealth gives you. Damage mitigation, to initiative in the fight (meaning you will always strike first) to escaping the fight.
I love my thief. A permanent stealth rebuild would serve wvw better and make those crappy destealth traps worth laying. What a load of crap those things are.
ps – My thought process was very segmented in this post as I wrote it between customers at work over the course of an hour.

We would like to have a system that rewards servers at the end of a matchup based on their performance and are working out all we’ll need to do to make that happen. Ideally it will give extra rewards for winning while still rewarding everyone for participating. All that being said, it’s hard to know what form the final version will take. Hopefully we’ll have something to get everyone excited to fight for victory.

This horrible logic from ANet is determining that SoS is becoming a better server by getting totally dominated by higher pop servers. We hold what we have in EB and we get maybe a tower and a couple depots in our BL. That is making us better? Our rating is going to INCREASE 60pts because we cannot keep our own BL and sustain a push in EB? We are LOSING and we are going to climb the ladder.
This whole idea is horrible and a waste of time.

I personally have been putting more emphasis on the evolution score than the weekly score. I think others should do the same.
Because getting your backside kicked by a higher teir server and still gaining points is a good thing?
There is nothing good about having only one map to play on an entire week.

This new system isn’t about the same level servers facing each other, we had that system for ages and is just sucked. Now we finally have some variety and all the children are whining about losing? Grow some balls, new system is all about sometimes getting your kitten kicked, sometimes walking over others and sometimes even matches. You all wanted this a month back and now there’s crybabies all over the place

The concept of tiers has little meaning at this point and you should try to stop thinking of matchups in those terms. Servers are matched up by proximity of rating, not proximity of “tier”. If the tiers have ratings that are within the range of the random adjustment, they can end up fighting each other. This is going to result in blowouts, no doubt about it. However, we are not going to make changes to this after just 2 weeks of the system. There are things we can do. We will almost certainly end up adjusting the total added to each server rating to group the matchups a little more closely. First however, we need to let the ratings adjust by having more varied matchups like these. If you look at EU, which is using the exact same system, you can see matchups with numerous surprising results. The same will likely be true by the end of the NA matchup.
TL;DR: We are going to wait at least a couple more weeks before changing any of the math behind the new system, but it is very likely we’ll decrease the size of the variation at some point.
Hey, could you guys send out an email to notify players when you fix this mess? I’m thinking of playing something else while you guys whack your pud for the next couple weeks.

It is boring! Wish HoD and ET would come back out to play. We’ve worked hard for weeks to take #1 but wasn’t expecting it to just be given to us. C’mon guys get back out there and fight.
HoD was gone as of last Saturday.

Edit – I’m not trying to take away an accomplishments of other servers, but HoD right now is just like what NSP was when AA left.

Any kind of stat that can be compared or looked at by other players of the same server is a step in the right direction for keeping players playing.
In DAOC there were your total realm points… realm points per week… realm points per death…
There were friendly competitions between players to be the highest in those categories per profession. It was awesome.
Don’t get me wrong, winning is a big deal for a server, but once it is won for the week (or two weeks), what else is there to go out and fight for? Personal goals are a great thing to keep players playing.

The only thing I might suggest changing is increasing the duration of the vurnability from body shot. Currently, it’s only useful in conjunction with coordinated spike DPS from your group members. As far as debuffing your own DPS, you burn out of ini once you get a few stacks then have none left to finish off the target. Bodyshot should do more damage too.

It is a Pistol/Dagger thief using just 2 skills. #1 and #5 using condition damage.
Where they messed up is that they didnt give Thieves a perma out of combat stealth. Instead they allowed them to stealth while in combat multiple times making them harder to deal with.
Most Thieves you find will have a dagger offhand simply to stealth with CnD.

Necro’s don’t have any outs and they do not kill quickly. That is your problem.
From reading your post, you said you are rolling a Thief and you will have a much easier time getting to someone and killing them. They also have plenty of outs that will allow you to get away if you can’t handle the odds.
In the end, there are not a lot of places to catch players 1v1. There are a lot of places for small group stuff is WvW, but 1on1 is kind of hard.

I’m a great killer.
I’m a great rezzer.
I’m a great scout.
My ranged set is Pistol/Pistol. Melee is Dagger/Dagger.
If I am defending a keep I build siege and use that instead of a SB. Just makes more sense.
I can see how people could have problems if they are trying to kill with aoe, but if you run with 2 or 3 other people and assist, you kill just as much just as fast.

I do pretty well with Pistol/Pistol. It is my main weapon set.
When players get close I switch to Dagger/Dagger.
The set up works well in a group. To each their own though.

It isnt a glitch. The southwest inner door on the garrison is a free pass to those that want to use it.
Players can walk right though it on ever server. It’s just the honest ones dont.

Why do people think HoD ques are horrific?
You log on. You que. You farm your mats asap and then WvW all night. Never played a night on HoD when I couldnt WvW and sometimes I have re-entered the que because of decent farming or crafting.

You do have a great off hour zerg killing uncontested objectives to cover for your low skill prime time play. So good for you. You need something to brag about during your 5 hour queues.

It sad to see AA and great guilds like Team Legacy be dragged down and held back by the utter stupidity of Ruin.
They should be better than what they are, but ruin clogs their ques and doesnt know how to win. Its a shame.

People assume because their server is losing, it must be because the other two are teaming them. It is a three way war and no one is teaming. What is happening to you is happening to ET and Storm. Storm just did a better job holding on to more over the weekend. Pretty sure the intensity of the battling will decline. It is going to revert to whoever has the biggest night time zerg will win.
Sorry but I have never been a part of a fight where the second server helped defend the first place servers BL instead of trying to gain points and winning.
Matter of fact, I’ve never seen another server help the winning server do anything.

In SBI BL ET took WoodHaven, and HoD tried for DE however DE’s attackers were pushed off, while HoD got enough to ninja in the southern side of the Garrison. SBI was pushed into having ONLY DE tower. We regrouped and pushed both HoD and ET back out of our lands. (And thats within the past hour.)
So yeah, all 3 servers are attacking one another.
lol lets talk in truths.
HoD pushed garrison allowing ET to take woodhaven.
ET then left it alone and went to push GL while you pushed Garrison.
ET kept pushing garrison leaving the entire north empty while you are pushing AH right now.
You both have pushed us off the map… SBI with the clear advantage.
It is quite clear the intentions of ET. They should be hitting Garrison or WH… but what are they doing? They are camping the spawn of HoD.
Please stop saying we are all fighting one another. It is far from the truth and perfectly fine.
I feel real sorry for the 5th and 6th slot servers next week. They will play for ETs play. :P

Not to mentioned they wasted 4 trebs on the second assault after we took GL back. Thats 7 trebs they use solely on greenlake within 24 hrs. They must like Greenlake very much. Its a good strategy to get greenlake then AH while holding bay and hitting it on garrison if the other invading party is a pushover. But when the other invading server keep killing your zerg and you have to waste 7 trebs on a single fort and have it taken back. You would have to think shouldn’t we attack the other side?
They have 5 up on GL right now… while they could be taking the north. It’s comical.
They are attacking the wrong server if they wanna win…. or the right server if they wanna lose. There is no prize for second place. lol
