This is absolutely the opposite of meta and just for jollies/seeing the world. Axe/wh and axe/mace with a few traits for dual/axe wielding.

I don’t have anything against the GS, per se, but this should keep me moving.
What a random thing to complain about. Why make a new topic? It was right there on page 13.
I like GS but I don’t dig GS 3. I almost miss my old axe/wh build, some days.
This is probably going to be the opposite of helpful, but I just got back into the game, myself. Don’t be too tough on yourself, foremost. Each MMO has it’s own “thing” you have to get into the groove of and it takes time. What I did was start a completely new character. I used to play guardian and now I’m going warrior. Not a big leap, I know, but I’m enjoying rediscovering the early game.
As an Asura, I’d like to ride on the back of a golem. Or just have rocket boots.
Ah, ok. I see from many of you that I’m not the only one that thought going from the current Guardian to a back row trapping and plunking sort of attacker is a step away from what I came to this class for.
Haven’t been able to sign into the forums til now, but thanks to all for the great advice. I really do want to be more group-friendly, so in spite of how much I love the theme of the necro, I went with a Warrior. I’ll just have to wear cool robes in my time off.
I’ve been gone for a while and, while I still love my Guardian, I’m interested in a change. I’ve done a good deal of research, but I’m still trying to settle in.
To the point: for PvE is it still considered less effective to main an axe? I like the feel of it, but what I want foremost is to do the best for my group. I know most folks say it doesn’t matter this early on, but I want to train myself into good habits.
I’ve been off the game a while and just getting back, but I ran axe/warhorn and rifle and had a geat time. I’m considering trying it again and mixing in some GS for my switch.
Gracias, guys. Both great suggestions. I was looking at chef, as it seems fun and I’d like to be able to help out my teammates. Weapons and vittles it is!
I’m coming back after a longish hiatus (right after the first Halloween event) and I want to hop into a Guardian. I’d like to take Weaponsmith and Armorsmith, but logic tells me that I’d be double dipping into mats for two of the more costly crafting professions.
So Armorsmithing it is, since more slots = more fun. But what’s a useful and reliable second passtime?
If it helps, I plan on sticking to GS + S/F. Thanks for any insight you could give!
Not letting me edit my post, at the moment, but I was looking at something like this:
Thanks, guys. Giving me some good stuff to think about.
Remove bleeds entirely from Necro and give us Necrosis stacks instead.

Bleed Warriors and Necros could be friends!
I’ve only played a little on my ranger (mostly play my warrior or guardian) but I’m enjoying it so far. I’ve been digging around looking at builds for ideas and noticed that most of the ones I’ve seen put most of their points in Marksmanship and Skirmish with a little in either Wilderness Survival or Beast Mastery.
I know the pets leave something to be desired, but are the other trait lines really less helpful (at the moment)?
I can support this, as well. A simple box where we type the number with an up/down arrow.
Definitely omnivorous. There’s a line in one of the inns at The Grove about how delicious the rabbit stew is.
That version of the staff is just meant as a “rental.” The actual staff is a crafted item.
Yeah, Like CHOAM says, there’s no real way to farm leather or cloth except salvaging armor and specific salvage drops. It all comes from mobs.
My pets are all named after characters in 70s and 80s TV detective shows.
The only thing I would have changed about the Clocktower would be to add just a little bit of time (5 seconds) before the green mist reaches the treasure chest drop down.
I’ve enjoyed everything so far and I can’t wait til I get home so i can go out to the party!
^ or “Hopping Mad” as a prefix.
it looks like a kittenfighting ring.
I realize this is old news, now, but I just read about it for some reason and I have a stack of them in my bank. Guess what I’m doing when I get home? No, AFTER taking off my pants and making a cup of tea…
I had been waiting for a guide simply so I could know how much of each mat to have on hand to maximize efficiency, but I seem to have reached the point where my collection tab is overflowing with copper ore and leather and I probably just need to get on with it.
Are there any items in GW2 that bind when picked up? I ask because I may use the same character to learn all of my crafting skills and just use others as gatherers. But he’s a warrior so I don’t want to get to 400 skill and find out the kitten bow I made for my ranger wasn’t transferable.
I would like a chance to see the tower burn when the 31st comes around.
It would free up bank space and even encourage completionists to spend more effort trying to buy/obtain the costumes. It could easily expand over time and maybe there could even be an achievement made from it.
It’s act 4 and it starts on the 31st. And I can’t wait. (well, I can because I have to, but…)
My guildmate got a “roll of toilet paper” last night from the Mad King’s chest. Epic loot, thanks A-Net. XD
Me too! I got some nice things I could actually use, too, since I was running it at level 29 (like level 30. that was a nice drop).
Yeah, maybe trying to do it all Fri night and Saturday whilst drinking coffee wasn’t the best way to save my nerves. I finally got my slippers, but I may have burst something in my skull. I’m finding all the other jumping puzzles positively relaxing by comparison. =)
I wasn’t sure from the topic title what was meant by “dung” for a moment.
I only ran it twice but I got one of those each time. I think ol’ Thorny has a thing for strong warhorns of the geomancer. =) I was half afraid the chest would be full of pennies and toothbrushes.
The tooltips are up to date (bronze ingot shows it requires copper ore x 10 and a lump of tin) but the guide itself isn’t. It implies 168 copper ore can be refined into 84 bronze ingots (a 2:1 rate) in lieu of the current 10:1 rate.
There are loads of guides to leveling crafting online, but a lot of them were written during beta or early stages before the cost of things was locked in place (for now, at least). I know branching out in the professions is going to cost a lot of time and money (I farm/salvage everything), but are there any current guides?
The clocktower isn’t bad but it does have problems. First of all other people get in your way. GL doing it when a giant Norn is running in front of you. They should have let us do this solo in our own instance because it’s not like others can help you anyway. You can’t use any abilities so other people just get in your way. Luckily most of them fall off quickly and most don’t make it halfway up.
Secondly the leap of faith jump back down after climbing up is serious BS. Explain the logic to me; you’re climbing up to escape a rising gas, then you jump back down, and the gas somehow doesn’t immediately engulf you? This jump shouldn’t have been here unless it was without the gas.
But beyond that, it’s just really annoying. This is an MMO, not Super Mario. You don’t shove a platforming race mode with a strict time limit into an MMO. Why did we need a time limit here? Why couldn’t we just do this without the rising gas of death? It’d have been hard enough already without the strict time limit.
Again, I completely agree. I’m going insane from the kitten tower and It’s not like i haven’t tried or I’m completely unskilled.
I completed this on my Asura and it took me a good 2 – 3 hours to finally get it. As someone who has completed it I have to say that I do think it’s too harsh for a lot of people to do, which isn’t fair on them. One guy that was running with us was there for over 7 hours! To be so determined to get it but still fail at it is pretty bad, I felt really sorry for him.
At the end of the day it’s a holiday event, nothing should be overly hard or out of reach for players imo. Players always look at these events as a chance to stand out from the crowd (SSS: special snowflake syndrome) when really they should bring everyone together on equal ground to enjoy the festivities together.
Exactly. Challenging is great. But this thing is making me crazy. I get to the chest just in time for the green stuff to show up every time. If I can see myself.
Sweet baby jeebus, yes. If I have to watch one more Charr flopping about like a fish while I’m trying to get up the frickin tower I really will go mad.
Currently, we (the players) don’t know anything beyond what happens in act 1, but we’ll find out in about an hour. As a relative squishie myself (early 20s) I certainly hope so.
Ah, my bad, I guess. I was going off of what Anthony O. said, which would have made it 3pm my time. I hadn’t read any of the other dev notes.
Is what Anthony said not correct? Act 2 starts at noon PST or some other time?
I had thought it was, but people are telling me it starts an hour earlier than he said. I honestly couldn’t say, at this point.

PST is 3 hours behind EST (my time) and it’s only almost 1:45 here. So there’s an hour and 15 left until the next Act.
would be cool if you could spend candy corn on an item that helped you find pumpkins
Add a “Gourd” setting to the locator? =)
^ With the addendum that each individual can open the door and then they go on a personal CD before they can open it again. If I find a door solo I can open it, wait a bit, and open it once more (assuming its not an event door) before it goes away. More bodies = more chances, though.
That’s why the group idea is so good, so long as you get your hits in. Not aware of how many times a group of people can open a regular door before it disappears because I’ve only ever been on my own or had a couple folks run up as I’m opening.
The Anet team specifically planned it to occur when I get home from work. Cause they like me.

Skullmount, it is, in fact, permanent. So no worries! You’ll be able to get it any time you want.
I agree that a heck of a lot of those regular minis will never be walking beside me. As amusing as it is for a tiny Norn to be walking next to an Asura, monsters and beasties would have been preferable.
What exactly is with the jumping puzzle around teh cauldron? Am I supposed to just jump in? Is that it?
Yes, when you jump in you turn into some sort of ghastly monster and can participate in the costume brawl! I got a mummy.
Nice. Step one: complete events for Act 2. Step two: Finish of my pumpkins and somehow get 100 more haunted kills.
I’d love, if not an actual NPC, at least a separate tab in the bank for costume pieces. Paying for costumes then paying for the extra bank space to hold them is a pain. Where am I supposed to keep mah nougat?!
