In the Hero panel, in the Equipment panel, the equipment filter is not working for me.
Like, let’s say I select a piece of headgear on my character in the headgear slot of the 6 armour slots for my character. It used to reduce the contents of the panel showing my inventory, to only show items which were associated with the selected slot (my headgear, in this case). Now it shows all of my inventory items.
I understand that many may not care, but I have 160 slots in my bag, 85 of which are gear that I actively swap in and out of during WvW matches through the day as I change my build for situations. This has now reduced my ability to do that effectively, and has cost me wins and losses accordingly. This happening right at the start of a tournament, is not a good way to get things going.
Please see the attached image for a more clear example.
It’s not like you have to plays hours and hours to get it.
Uhm, actually it is precisely like you have to play for hours and hours to get it. It is only accessible in PvE land by reaching the end of a specific storyline path.

So, I went through the PvE storyline on the track to obtain the Whisper’s Secret Pistol. I normally only play WvW, but when I saw the skin on dulfy, I knew I wanted it on my thief. I had assumed it would make a suppressed weapon sound, like a little pffft sound, as opposed to the normal pistol sound. Sadly, it only makes the normal pistol sound. Considering the amount of effort put into obtaining the pistol, and having to perform a specific portion in the story, it would make sense to have some of the end items to be “special”. Like the super fun box items, or whatever it’s called. Maybe you guys could look into it?
Okay, so I believe the names in (()) are the ruins, and obviously the Tower and Keep, are their respective objectives. What I am unclear on are what things like “Lumber Mill” and “Fishing Village” are in the API call for https://api.guildwars2.com/v1/wvw/objective_names.json
It seems the Wiki is unclear on this portion, and the search feature for the forums returns “0 Results” no matter what I type in. Would someone mind explaining the various names in detail?
I’m not sure if this is a bug, or the intended effect, but I am being chat suppressed for attempting to send messages which are in excess of 10 minutes apart. While sending recruitment messages to map chat of LA, as well as some conversational messages, I became chat suppressed more than 10 minutes after my previous message. The message I attempted to send, that was suppressed, was not a recruitment post, and the message following was a reworded message of the same content. Screenshot provided.
We need Champion Siege Golems which work similarly to Omega Golems, but instead of rockets, their ammunition is Omega Siege Golems which each fire rockets from them. Also, Golem Mastery would be nice. Thanks =)
Me bash you face. You die. Me strong.
Warrior mentality… 60% of the time, it wins all the time. For the rest of us, fight smart, not hard, and pick your battles.
So, I would like to first say that I love the Gem Store and RMT concept. I really cba to grind away 10 hours a day, each day, to earn what I could by just working half an hour in real life. I greatly support buying everything else with Mastercard.
That being said, there are many players, like me, who only or primarily do WvW. I actually would be just fine with logging straight into Home BL and not ever seeing PvE content. As such, many of the Gem Store items (like Bouquet of Roses, Water Balloon stuff, etc.) do not work in WvW. I understand there were some exploits at one time, with fear spam in costume form and stuff, but it would really help you guys make more money if you can get that stuff sorted out in some method other than barring its use.
Thanks for the Gem Store, though. I am an 8+ year GW1 player, and it always bugged me that I could not just buy my gear with real money when all I actually wanted to do was PvP. (Don’t get started on PvP gear is free, because any PvPer knows PvE gear was dominant.) So, keep up the great stuff going, and I hope another 8+ years will be spent in this game. =)
Mysterious Mesmers [Däzë]
...making Mesmers master mana.
We are formerly an Ehmry Bay Server restricted WvW guild. We have now officially opened our doors to other servers. While we focus on WvW, we welcome all types of Mesmer play. We regularly assist Mesmers with build design and tactics. Periodically, we also run Däzë events where we regularly do some mix of the following:
~ Run Mesmer-only zergs
~ Provide direct support for coordinated golem rushes
~ Merrily move murderous Mesmers mightily
~ Teach each other about the in’s and out’s of portals
We have but one rule:
You must be actively on a Mesmer whenever you represent Däzë. You may represent other guilds while on your Mesmer, we just ask that you do not represent this guild while on a non-Mesmer.
If you think you can handle it, or would like to learn how, contact Sorceress Bathory in-game.

A day in the life of a top tier player...
Home Borderland is full. Would you like to go to Edge of the Mists?
No.
Enemy One Borderland is full. Would you like to go to Edge of the Mists?
No.
Enemy Two Borderlands is full. Would you like to go to Edge of the Mists?
No.
Eternal Battlegrounds is full. Would you like to go to Edge of the Mists?
Yes.
SEGMENTATION FAULT: Kernel dumped. Rebooting...
Thanks, I’ll stick with my tier 8.
Guild Wars 2 was originally slotted to release in 2007. Just sayin’...
It seems there is a cooldown of 30 seconds. It appears that when the supply return procs, swiftness is applied. That swiftness lasts 20 seconds, and I have consistently, 10 seconds after that swiftness has worn off, received supply back from the Supply Master IV trait. Considering the standard, for cooldown timers in the game, being set to even intervals and increments of 5, the logical assumption would be that the cooldown is at either 25s or 30s, the latter being the more likely.
Ehmry Bay Stock Exchange [EBAY] is looking for new, and veteran, players for WvW. We offer a rich WvW experience on the Ehmry Bay server, and would like to add more to our ranks. Come join us for some WvW fun!
Message “Sorceress Bathory”, “Wump”, or “Honeys Flame” in-game for more information and invites.
On average, each day, I receive about one spam message from a gold seller every 10 minutes. It has become so bad that I have had to disable my whispers to be able to clearly communicate in WvW. I can tell I am still receiving them because I can hear the PM sound every 5-10 minutes. The messages typically consist of the same line of text each time. I have blocked, and reported, each one for the first month or so of this problem, but now I don’t bother, as that didn’t seem to resolve anything. During the writing of this message, I already received five more spam messages from gold sellers.
My suggestion would be to add a filtering system at the server level, to look for specific known blocks of text for gold sellers, and auto-suppress/auto-ban them on trigger. These are not the sort of messages that normal humans would be writing, and you wouldn’t even have to add any regular expression. It’s just the same exact text each time, from various accounts, through the day.
Would you mind providing a source for your information on the cooldown?
Does anyone know what the cooldown is for the Supply Master IV returning supply back once expended?
All of my other Ascended gear, and all of my other backslot items are unlocked in the Wardrobe panel, but my Book of Secrets is not. After unequipping it, then right-clicking, there was no option to unlock the skin.
Okay, thanks so much for the reply. I will wait until I can change my accessory colour to black. =)
Do either the Self-Style Hair Kit, or Total Makeover Kit, permit the changing of the ribbon colours for female human “tassle” style hair?
If so, what are the colour selections available?
I see a lot of people asking about this, and not any definitive answers. The wiki doesn’t specify the ribbons (or similar items) can be changed.
That’s pretty much it. Mesmers are light armour classes, but this build permits you to sit more about the midline to mid-backline, with the option for a quick frontline push and retreat. This build also sees its best effectiveness in larger zergs, as there are better builds suited for havoc and solo roaming. Good luck, have fun. =)
Skills
The healing skill (Signet of the Ether) is chosen due to the lag which comes with zerging. You do not have to worry as much about dying due to lag (hopefully) simply because the heal is passive. For smaller groups, I would suggest Ether Feast, as it can provide better healing from the lower recharge and the constant shattering of illusions. Just be sure to try and heal, with Ether Feast, only when you have three illusions out already.
Utility skill slots 8 and 9 in the linked build are pretty much required for zerging. The Veil and Null Field provide great support for stealthing your entire zerg during movement, and stripping enemy boons during pushes. Dropping a Veil in front of a portal, right before a push into an enemy zerg on the other side, is a great way to get the initiative in battle. I typically Veil right before a push, then right after the zerg runs through for stealth and attacks, I immediately drop a Null Field on their frontline to strip warrior and guardian boons.
Utility skill slot 7 is variable. In the linked build I put Signet of Domination for increased condition damage and a stun for applying 3 stacks of confusion to a single target, but I will swap the skill out with Illusion of Life (which can raise a dead Keep Lord), Feedback, and Portal Entre for utility purposes as needed. I will skip the discussion of portal usage, as that is an entirely different topic, which is quite lengthy. Feedback and Illusion of Life are preference skills, and Illusion of Life is highly recommended for use while defending. If the keep lord you raised with Illusion of Life ends up getting a couple hits in on someone that your zerg kills, then he will stay alive, much like with Vengeance. So, essentially, this skill can be as effective as a warrior banner in the right circumstances.
The elite skill slot is typically going to be Time Warp, but it can also be Mass Invisibility as needed. Though, there is little use for Mass Invisibility in zergs, as it has a limit of how many people it can stealth at a time.
Traits
The trait line fits extremely well with the Rabid armour set, and is focused heavily on condition damage and confusion as well. The whole build has some pretty great synergy between all of the choices, with only a few odd selections due to lack of a better option.
In the precision traitline (Dueling), the Adept III (Retalitory Shield) is chosen because many others in your group will be granting you blocks, as well as some blocks from your own stealth buffs and scepter skill 2 (Illusionary Counter). The Master X (Deceptive Evasion) is pretty much a staple for most mesmer builds I have seen. Being able to spit out a clone, simply from dodging, is pretty strong. Also consider that each killed illusion applies a number of conditions, including confusion. The 25 points are in precision traitline specifically for Confusing Combatants. There really is no other reason the extra 5 points are assigned. To ignore that minor trait really reduces a lot of confusion application though. The minor adept trait (Critical Infusion) is very helpful for reducing damage incoming, increasing illusion count and subsequent condition application, as well as synergising well with rabid gear.
The toughness traitline (Chaos) is the source of a lot of both survivability and outgoing damage. Specifically, the minor grandmaster trait (Chaotic Transference) greatly increases your overall condition damage without losing any defence. The Grandmaster XII (Prismatic Understanding) is chosen to lengthen the stealth time of your Veil and to apply boons to you as you remain in stealth. The Master X (Chaotic Dampening) trait is for both defence and to increase the amount of Chaos Storm you can use. Chaos Storm is a critical skill for zerging, and is too hard to ignore. One stacked set of Chaos Storm and Null Field can completely wreck an enemy zerg. The Adept V (Debilitating Dissipation) trait is used to apply random conditions which can hamper a zerg, considering you are spamming illusions in every way possible.
The final, condition damage traintline (Illusions), is where some of your extra condition damage comes from, but more importantly, your confusion support. The Adept V (Master of Misdirection) increases the duration of your applied confusion. Where as the minor traits, for adept and master, both help to apply more confusion.
Shatters
Your most useful shatters are going to be 2, 3, and 4. The 2 (Cry of Frustration) and 3 (Diversion) shatter skills both apply confusion to enemies, with shatter 3 also interrupting foes. The 4th shatter (Distortion) is great for unblockable stomps, as well as survivability if the damage spikes on you. Remember, that every time you shatter illusions, they apply a range of conditions on your nearby enemies, to include… more confusion.
This has likely been gone over about a bagillion times already, but I decided to put this out there in the event that someone doesn’t see or like the builds available. My in-game name is Sorceress Bathory and you can PM me at anytime to ask mesmer or WvW related questions.
The focus of this mesmer is to provide zerg support in WvW. For roaming, I would suggest a different build (such as an actual PU build). This build is also heavily based on conditions, and you will obviously be most supportive in ascended gear with the proper food buffs.
First, a link to the build: WvW Zerg Confusion Mesmer
Gear
The weapon choices are Staff and Scepter/Focus for heavy condition application. The staff skill 5 (Chaos Storm) is great for putting down AoE conditions and interrupts on enemy zergs, while staff skill 2 (Phase Retreat) is a great way to quickly get out of damage areas. Using staff skill 2 inside of a Null Field or Chaos Storm applies Chaos Armour for a bit of protection, when available.
The scepter and focus provide great support for adding more conditions through scepter skill 3 (Confusing Images) on single targets, and focus skill 4 (Temporal Curtain/Into the Void) for speed buffs, cripple, and critical pulls from towers or against backline/kiting enemies. The scepter skill 1 (Ether Clone) helps to throw out some extra clones to apply AoE confusion when they die. Keep in mind, the focus 4 (Temporal Curtain) speed boon does not stack with any other speed buffs (including itself) if a speed buff is already applied. Try to apply this speed buff first, before any other speed buffs are applied.
I highly suggest a full set of Rabid ascended gear. The reason is for extra procs on the Superior Sigil of Torment, enough toughness for survivability, and extra condition damage. A heavy focus on endurance and AoE conditions is key. Each dodge creates a new illusion which can create a set of AoE conditions upon death, and the AoE torment helps to apply pressure to pushing or kiting enemies. As such, I suggest Superior Sigil of Energy on each weapon set, which grants enough endurance for one more dodge per weapon swap. A full set of Superior Rune of Perplexity is required for this build. So, save up some gold.
Confusion
Some notes about confusion and perplexity runes:
- Each interrupt applies 3 stacks of confusion.
- Each hit has a chance to cause confusion.
- Confusion lasts longer.
- All conditions deal more damage per proc.
Take note of all methods of interrupting foes. Not only does it stop their action, but the confusion stacks up quickly. It is not uncommon to hit 25 stacks of confusion on a set of enemies at any given time.
Some ways to interrupt foes include:
- Any stun, daze, pull, knock, or fear effects.
- Chaos Storm randomly causes interrupts.
- Power Lock (Mantra of Distraction charged skill) causes daze.
- Into the Void (focus skill 4 shatter ability) causes a pull.
- Shatter skill 3 (Diversion) can cause AoE daze.
So, a while back, I had asked for a more expansive WvW map. Well, you guys did one better. You gave me an expansive WvW Skyhammer map minus the Skyhammer cannon. So, I won’t count the lack of cannon against you (though, I would love to hear “Skyhammer calibrated to blue”). I know a lot of people hate Skyhammer, and a lot of people hate large zergs and large WvW maps. I am not one of those people. I know a lot of people have said they would like it better if Edge of the Mists had more of an impact positively on WvW other than a bit of supply in home bl Citadel. I don’t really care though. Edge of the Mists is fun regardless of how it affects the normal WvW maps, and I feel you guys have done a great job on the patch in general. I honestly had not expected it until late spring to mid summer. So, thanks. =)
P.S. – Since EotM went live, I created a Necro and have been leveling it (slowly) simply for the Fear mechanic. >=)
Other than the Airship, where is the Guild Commendation Trader since LA is now gone?
After some research, I ended up going with Superior Runes of Lyssa due to the current cost of Superior Runes of the Traveler. The buffs on healing and elite skill usage have already proven helpful. I looked at the Superior Runes of Divinity but, for now, I am going to stick with the Lyssa runes until I can get the Traveler runes.
Currently, I am running full Berserker equipment with Knight’s armour. I run dual D/P with might on swap, to end up with about 15 stacks of might during a battle. If I had seen the Dvitity runes before I got the Lyssa runes, then I may have gone with those instead. As it stands, 17g already spent, is enough incentive to stick with my current choice. Thanks for the replies. =)
What sort of runes would you guys suggest for a Thief running D/P in WvW?
I agree that Thieves should have all stealth nerfed into oblivion. While we do that, give them heavy armour as well. Also, make sure they regen 1400HP every second and give them a base 20k hitpoints. Why not go ahead and stack them up with buffs too? </obvioustroll>
Stealth is survival in WvW.
In an area where you are by yourself, trying to pick off the tail of a zerg, a zerg which consists of 25 or more people, you *must* use stealth to survive. This is typically true for the other classes as well. Thieves just do it better.
Keep in mind, the typical Thief life pool is about 15k hitpoints. They are in medium armour, and they typically have very few, if any, defensive buffs. The stealth hitpoint regen is meh. The only real advantage to it is that you end up being in stealth more often. So, even in small number and 1v1 combat, the Thief can go down quick if you can catch them. Being slippery is really the only defence.
For some more obvious trolling:
While we’re on the topic of OPdednessessess, what about Warriors with immobilize spamming and one-shot kills.
Let’s not forget the Mesmer with all their illusions. I mean, a zerg of 7 Mesmers should create orange swords in combat.
Eles heal and damage way too much. Pairing an Ele’s Static Field with a Mesmer’s Null Field should be addressed. Remove both skills completely.
Guardians give way too much stability and regen. All those boons should be nerfed.
Engineers can setup for bunker way too well. That needs to be addressed by removing all those little things they throw on the ground.
Necros need to have their condition damage nerfed big time. I mean, come on, no one should be able to stack every condition in the game on you, even if that is kinda the point of the class and they are about as squishy as a gummy bear.
Did I miss any? Oh yea, Rangers. We can leave them alone. Since everyone else would be nerfed, the Ranger would now be on equal level with the rest.
</obvioustroll>
To sum it up... learn to play better and/or change your build. WvW is not sPvP, so do not expect it to be. QQing about "______ class does ______ and it makes me mad" doesn’t fix the problem. The problem is you. Many other people have little, to no, problem killing Thieves. Even with all the stealth tricks. Try playing Thief more in WvW for yourself. You said you already know them in sPvP, so it shouldn’t be too much of a leap. To know a class is to know its weaknesses.
Not saying it should be. Was asking if there is a policy against it, or a suggested procedure to counter it.
What is the policy, or suggested recourse, for known spies from opposing servers in WvW being on our server and relaying map/team/say chat and positional information to the enemy server?
Why is it that we can cry forever, but we cannot laugh forever? This is quite depressing and should be quite opposite of its current state.
On my Mesmer, I have a Staff with a Superior Sigil of Energy on it, and in my swap I have a Scepter with Superior Sigil of Ice and a Focus with Superior Sigil of Energy on it. When in combat, if I swap between my weapon sets, then I will receive 50% endurance gain, as expected.
On my Thief, I have a Dagger with Superior Sigil of Battle and a Pistol with Superior Sigil of Strength, and in my swap I have a Dagger with Superior Sigil of Strength and a Pistol with Superior Sigil of Battle. I had expected that, when in battle, I would be able to swap between weapon sets and end up with a Dagger/Pistol set still, but gain 3 stacks of might for each swap. Instead, I gain no stacks of might, while in battle, no matter how many times I swap between sets.
I made sure to put the Superior Sigil of Battle on two different weapon sets, and even on different weapons (Pistol on one, Dagger on the other), yet it does not produce results similar to what the Superior Sigil of Energy does on my Mesmer in battle.
Is this correct? Why would one Sigil that buffs on swap in battle work one way, and a similar, that the only difference I can tell is the type of buff granted, works in a different manner (rather… doesn’t work at all)?
To note, if I put a Short Bow in my swap set, which happens to have a Superior Sigil of Fire on it, then every time I swap from my Short Bow to my Dagger/Pistol set, I do gain 3 stacks of Might as expected. The bug only seems to occur when I have a Dagger/Pistol+Dagger/Pistol setup or Dagger/Pistol+Sword/Pistol.
I also would like to note, that having two Staves on my Mesmer, each with a Superior Sigil of Energy, that while in battle, I do receive the 50% endurance for each swap.
I have attached an image of my weapon setup on my Thief to clarify what I mean. http://s30.postimg.org/y8tnjloi8/battle.jpg
This is a common topic, and some common responses are "just play the game" and "craft". While these can be great responses, they are more in line with "Google it" for what many people are asking.
"Just play the game" is nice and all, but not everyone wants to do PvE, and a level 3 in WvW is all of about useless. Crafting is very expensive (especially these days), and you can use your credit card, but plan to works a lot of burger flipping hours to do that.
I do not have a great answer to the question. I have two level 80’s and two level 30’s and I really only care to do WvW and sPvP, as to play PvE I would prefer Skyrim. I will say, I spend most of my leveling time trying to mix various chained events, some crafting from the money/loot I get doing that, and dungeons with friends when asked. There is no "power leveling" area or method like there was in Guild Wars 1. You just kinda have to grind it out or pay cash.
Harathi is a good farm, also consider Queensdale for levels 1-25 or so. Map completion can provide some quick levels here and there as well. Someone had stated to clear the major cities, and I would agree. Orr is a good place to try and work your way about as well. At some point, you will likely want to go there for various reasons and it’s much easier once you know your way about and have the waypoints and map open. Most classes are useful in WvW by at least level 30, so you could look into that as well.
Good luck in your leveling ventures.
My Dearest Love,
I hope this will find its way to you. Ever since our sons passed away in the war last year, I had been all alone in our old house in Queensdale. With the war raging around us, I decided to move into the garrison and they have been sieging it day and night.
I dream of you each night. The invaders from Dragonbrand are relentless. The Borlis Pass raiders have finally moved on to other lands, but the Isle of Janthir soldiers quickly moved in to take their place. I am unsure how much longer we can hold out. It feels like this war has been going on forever.
When are you coming home to me?
Ehmry Bay has not been the same ever since you left. Our sons both went to look for you and I received word that they were killed by our attackers. My days are filled with the constant sounds of explosions, and my nights are filled with tears.
Please come home to me.
I will wait here for you until my last breath. I hope that you are faring well. I fear that you too have gone the way of our sons. Though, I have not heard any news of your death, so I must assume that you are still alive. I hope. I pray. Please make your way back to me safe.
Forever Your Faithful Love,
Erzsébet
I just leveled up from level 25 to level 26, but it still registers as level 25 and I did not get a skill point. The bar shows some completion now into level 25, and says my next level to attain is level 26. It should say I am level 26 and my next level is 27 with 8 skill points (as opposed to 7).
Thanks Manoa! I had taken a look at that site, and it is much better than the wiki for my purposes. =)
The Destroyer Staff is cool.
I have one of those, and I got the Bloody Prince Staff skin as well.
I saw a great Scepter to match the Bloody Prince Staff is the Eye of Rodgort, but it’s a bit pricey for me right now.
I am looking through the wiki for some really cool staves. Preferably ones with a red based colour scheme. The wiki isn’t very revealing as far as animations and actual look.
So I was wondering, what do you think the coolest staves are in the game?
A cold day like most others. The white powdered snow falling to my feet as I swept across the country side towards the southern towers. This is a regular mission for me, taking towers alone. It seems these days, not many can be found in our lands. Not many friends anyways.
I setup a catapult on the backside of the western tower, as usual. This is going to take a lot more supply. Quickly, with a sprint towards the camp to grab more equipment, I see Crystal Desert has gained control.
…and there is a Borlis Pass soldier.
I take out the pack mule, then proceed into the camp and remove their claimer. Now, with nothing but the random blind and ghost chains, I plunged a flag deep into the chest of this BP defiler. The camp is mine.
I grabbed up some supplies and headed out towards my catapult. Two more BP guys stopped me outside. The Guardian seemed to be confused, and the engineer was a bit small. I decided to take out the veteran first.
The two BP guys were running around swinging at images of myself. Illusions. That’s all life really is to me these days… just an illusion. I rush of adrenaline surges through me as I slam my flag into the engineer’s face. Always hated those Asuran. Pets, I call them.
I turn to remove the guardian, and it all goes black. I can hear what sounds like a thousand footsteps running over top of me… as my life fades away.
This is a day in the life of an eBay Mesmer.
...and another screenshot of an aggressive idle kick timer. Notice the chat box, I was actively running into Hills and chatting at 2:35PM. The idle kick timer appeared at 2:36PM.
Here is a screenshot of what I’m talking about... http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/3696/3s86.jpg
In 3 minutes time, I was only permitted to send 1 message without getting suppressed. The only message permitted was:
"se tower rear wall 30% need more"
The first suppressed message to /team chat was:
"se tower rear wall 10%"
The second was the same message to /say chat, the third message was me trying to ask someone else next to me in /say chat to announce the 10% wall in /team for me due to suppression.
The final suppressed message before I took the screenshot to report and post was to /say chat again and was 2 minutes later:
"4m indig"
How am I expected to compete in WvW if I cannot relay pertinent information to fellow team members?
So, the idle kick timer...
Currently, it’s a little buggy, and a lot of annoying. I kinda get the point, you can’t just have people sitting afk on siege in WvW indefinitely. It would be very detrimental, and would promote sabotage. There are likely other areas of the game as well that would suffer from a lack of afk checking and removal. Does a person being idly logged in really negatively affect all areas of the game though?
Guild Wars 1 does not have an idle kick timer. I started playing a month after release of GW1, and I do not recall it ever having an anti-idle system in place. It did have some negative effects, and you guys added a suggestive timer to the game because some people don’t seem to understand that starvation and fatigue are lethal in excess. Other than two Koreans dying, the lack of the idle kick system didn’t really have a super detrimental effect. Although that was a tragic event, it’s not really your fault.
As it stands, sometimes the idle kick timer will boot me to login screen without any warning. Sometimes it doesn’t boot me for hours, sometimes it tries boots me every 20-30 minutes. By keeping the afk system in place, you are promoting people making bots to bypass such an asinine ’feature’, which is going to lead to a whole set of other problems. (e.g. the GW1 ’drunk bots’)
Personally, I like to play the game in a casual/serious style. I like being able to walk away for what is sometimes long periods of time, then return and play a few minutes, then sometimes play for longer periods. This kinda continues for 20ish hours daily. I do not like having to wait for load in screens to get back into the place I was just in. Also, the trading post acting like I’m not logged in until I completely close out the executable and reload it (which completely locks up my machine for 5-10 minutes each time) is a problem. Not to mention that when I’m trying to read chat and casually monitor the current state of the game as I work on other things, then being forced to stop my work to press ’w’ or being kicked out with no warning (which I have now had to do twice since I started writing this post)... it’s super annoying.
This is a pay to play game... as such, it would be nice if I could play what I paid for, ya know? Please can you guys start brainstorming how to alter the game to remove or address some of these issues? I really wouldn’t mind being kicked out of the home borderland on a timer, if it just sent me back to LA or something (though I prefer the queue issue is addressed instead). It would really help if I did not have to log back in, or reload the process, during each interval that the timer procs. I am inclined to believe others may agree with me concerning the afk timer needing to be addressed.
I would like to note, I love the game. It took me a bit to get into because I do not typically like to grind PvE, but I do really love the game. I feel you guys have done a great job, and I understand why it took so long and had so many setbacks. It was totally worth it.
P.S. - Thanks for adding the Flute. ^^
(edited by Nalia Ironstar.5470)
AeroJavi, are you suggesting that highly aggressive idle timers and suppression are intentional?
I normally have some minor issues with the idle kick timer being a bit aggressive.
Today, in WvW, I began receiving the suppression message. I had typed a total of two sentences since login, the first of which was more than 7 minutes prior to the suppressed message. Since then, I have been unable to use the chat box without receiving a suppression message.
While that was occurring, I was actively moving around from the TP in Citadel to the Armour Repairer, and I got the idle kick timer 50 second warning. Then got it again, still 50 seconds, then again also 50 seconds.
This is getting somewhat ridiculous. I understand you guys have to suppress spam, and I understand that you don’t want the load of AFKers (and the issues it could have with game mechanics). Both of the afore mentioned situations are excessive though. It is one thing to protect the game, it’s another to make it unplayable.
Regularly, I will receive the idle kick timer while I am actively using the TP. I am then forced to close the TP, because for some reason when it’s open it captures all keyboard input even if it doesn’t have focus.
Please address these issues. I highly doubt that I am the only one receiving these errors.
So, I got this game because of WvW. I loved AB in GW1 and I watched my friends toodle in WvW and immediately, I fell in love. The grind was a chore, but I finally got my level 80 and am able to play. I love the open world nature, I love the feel I get of playing PvE with hostile overtones. All while still being able to switch to a PvP focus without having to leave the area even. I used to play Eve Online for the same specific reasons. I love the way you guys melded that aspect of Eve with the interface of Guild Wars.
I would love to see this concept expanded on. Larger maps and some more LA style NPCs, namely the Personal Banker. I know there is one in WvW, but why can’t we have one near each place a TP merchant appears? Also, lag is an issue. I know much is client side, but there is some server side I would imagine as well. CCP also has serious lag issues in large client count instances. So, I feel you guys are doing fairly well in that department. =)
I was wondering, what are some other things the community would love to see in WvW?
