We need help to fix domination in NA

Another ‘Blackgate is evil incarnate’ thread.

Target them because they have been successful by playing by the established rules.

Target them because winning actually matters?

Target them because of all the precursors they get because they are in first.

It’s interesting. Supposedly score doesn’t matter, but now Blackgate is horrible because they score more.

I’d say that any server that drops its participation while facing Blackgate, or tanks a match while in a tier below BG gets deleted. No warning. If you are throwing a match: boom. Done. Because match manipulation is against the TOS.

Just stop.

We should also delete Blackgate the next time they decide to hibergate upon facing a matchup with servers that have the population to compete, yes?

Ultimately, no one who’s not on BG will disagree that that the three problems with WvW are Balance, Skill Lag, and Blackgate, while on the other hand people currently on Blackgate will continue to make excuses for the 70-man blobs they run all the time since they can’t handle a fair match.

Essentially:

Proofs of Heroics will let you buy Heart of Thorns Hero Points, and HoT Runes, Sigils, Recipes, etc.

The New Currency will let you buy Path of Fire Hero Points, and PoF Runes, Sigils, Recipes, etc.

The reason for tihs separation is because when you use a Notarized Scroll of Heroics, it doesn’t just give you 1/10 Hero Points. It basically instantly completes a random Hero Point for you. So, it makes sense to distinguish between randomly completing a HoT HP and a PoF HP, especially for people who own one but not the other.

this honestly annoys me. For what purpose can PvE players unlock their elite specs in a single evening but WvW players are hard time gated? Atleast WvW players had to prepare to get elite specs on day 1 but now all that preparation is just kinda wasted.

Do you not read or something? You will still be able to buy the Notarized Scroll of Heroics and Notarized Scroll of Maguuma Heroics to get Hero Points to max out your elite spec on minute 1.

You should wait for the relinkings, on Friday, before you decide where to transfer. It’s quite possible that IoJ would get linked to a T2 server or so, letting you play in the tier and with your friends.

(Suggestion) Anet, Please Add Back Tier 5

in WvW

Posted by: Namer.9750

Namer.9750

NA shouldn’t have a Tier 5 just because “EU also does”, and frankly, most T3/T4 servers queue 1-2 maps or so during NA primetime. These servers can sustain a spike in population. The servers that will feel overcrowded are the ones who already are, in T1 and T2, with dead links and most of the strength on the Host server. If there are queues for long enough, then population will slide down. You can have up to 5000+ players playing WvW simultaneously across all servers and tiers. We don’t hit near that capacity currently and we won’t except for maybe a couple weeks into the xpack.

Population spikes are irrelevant to the long term health of WvW, and 5 Tiers for NA is detrimental to the long term. Having 4 tiers with up to 3 servers linked together, does help provide OCX/SEA populations for all these servers (even if as small as 20 peeps on a good day, still better than fully dead).

Consider the current situation, where Fort Aspenwood has Devona’s Rest linked to it. By your proposal, you’d unlink DR from FA and link DR to a smaller server, say, Crystal Desert or Northern Shiverpeaks or something.

However, neither DR nor CD has a native OCX population. FA does, EBay does. An OCX player on DR or CD right now can get action and other people to play with without getting ktrained all day by servers like SoS or HoD, but under your proposal they would have a far greater chance of ending up with a server and timezone that’s completely dead.

You can’t think of just NA primetime when you consider linking and tiering NA servers. NA is not EU with one timezone. As of now, even with 4 tiers you see OCX or SEA action mainly in 2-3 tiers, and the people on the tiers without action come here and complain about “too many tiers, we need 3 tiers” etc. etc.

Roaming: Who, what, why, how? #Discussion

I dunno why roamers don’t just spvp, the rewards are better and the fights are more fair and engaging. I don’t care if people roam or not but it seems like bullying to me, but If that’s what they want to do and how they want to play I don’t mind, I just get a kick out of players who roam and then act like they are amazing players, when the pvp is so heavily in there favor. Granted, some of them are good players but they also have huge advantages.

Why don’t roamers just sPvP?

I want to be doing open world PvP. I don’t want to sit in a bunch of tiny circles on a tankyass build 2v1ing enemies while the rest of my team loses 4v3 and gets Full Locked. I don’t want to use those silly locked runes and amulets sPvP has, I want to min-max my stats as I like and use combinations of runes and actually-useful sigils.

Also the only time I’d kill a zergling is when I want to refresh my participation. Actual roamers will look for other roamers and even or outnumbered fights. Frankly, I don’t take nicely to being put in the same boat as gankers.

And if you have a problem with gankers, just freaking change your skills while you’re running back from a zerg. Almost every class in the game has mobility skills they can use to avoid gankers (or in the case of Necro, just turn and kill them). If you can’t, you need to improve your play (because clearly, you died and were forced to run back, perhaps repeatedly). Don’t just come and whine here, because it won’t do anything except put me on the lookout so I can come bully you for real (I strongly dislike whining).

Balancing Conditions for the Next Expansion

in WvW

Namer.9750

Hi, I had a few ideas on how to make Condition-damage based gameplay more interesting and innovative. These ideas could be implemented with the next expansion, as they make use of new mechanics that would refresh the current stale “boonshare” meta of WvW.

> A new type of Condition, or maybe a trait that makes all Condis “Virulent Conditions” that are uncleansable.

> A new type of Conditions, “Plague Conditions” that tick for damage, not on one target, but in an AoE. (literally, passive Epi). This could be a trait or a specific new condition.

> “Cascading Conditions” where the Condition Damage per tick per stack scales up with higher stacks of the condi. Say, every stack of bleed you have increases the damage of your individual bleed ticks by 10%. So 10 stacks of bleed do a lot more than 10 times the damage of a single stack of bleed.

> A new condition, “Malice” (or something like that) that, like Torment and Confusion, does damage based on your actions. More specifically, it does damage based on how many boons+condis you have, and whenever it ticks it corrupts one boon, with Resistance being corrupted first and stability second.

> A new condition, “Broken Bones”, that deals additional damage if you’re CCed, and each stack of Broken Bones increases the duration of any stun, knockback or knockdown by 20%

These are only a few possible ideas out of a vast universe of possibilities. I hope ANet takes a look at some of these suggestions!

Squad parties

I know there are groups who do run 6-man parties over five. Rekz used to, as does my guild.

Plus, targeting is limited to your party only, so if you’re running smaller scale with <10 people, then it may be beneficial to have people in one party all so you can call out targets more easily (using symbols is fine, but it’s also a little cumbersome).

Raids & Legendary armor -- unrealistic

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Namer.9750

Speaking from a casual gamer point of view, both the Raids & Legendary armor are unrealistic.

I am not online frequently/long enough or to join a semi-pro guild that clears the raid in matter of hours. Nine out of ten times I get kicked out of the guild due to beeing inactive for to long, therefore the Raid must be completed using pick up groups when I have the time.

Fact is that pick up groups mostly are not good enough to clear the raid or, as seen in another perspective: I’m not good enough of / not well-read enough to know all tactics since I almost never been inside the raid due to difficulty described above.
Outcome: drum-roll kick out of party!

Consequence:
- Raid has no single player or easy mode thus i am never going to complete raid due to lack of time/guild/party
- Not able to complete legendary armor item list

Hence my topic title: raids & legendary armor unrealistic for casual players.

addition:
I know Guild Wars 2 is an MMO and it is meant to be played with multiple people but it als can be played solo. Myself as a hard working young man in my thirties must squeeze in some play time between work and family.

By the choice to make legendary armor only available by playing the raid i feel really
neglected as casual gamer by Arena Net!

Just my twentytwo cents,
Yvilthi

If you’re unable to set aside 2-3 hours every week to raid, or even learn to, why don’t you just use your scattered playtime to farm gold, and then buy your raid clears? Generally with most raidsell groups you can get all three wings done for a few hundred gold.

You won’t be able to make that much every week, but you can probably buy a raidsell every few weeks to get your LIs and Achievements.

If you were willing to spend 900 hours on one legendary weapon, you should be fine spending a similar amount of time. Going off rough calculations, assuming 750g for a full clear, and 13 LIs gotten for a full clear, it should take you around 8.6k gold, which rounds up to 430 hours of Silverwastes at about 20g per hour. That means with your 1.19 hours of playtime every day, you should be able to buy all your LIs in 363 or so days, just under a year. (actually, it’s less, because the 750g is REN’s price, and they charge a lot more than some EU guilds).

Seriously, dude. You don’t need a casual mode, you just need to be aware of all your options and take the path you’re most able to.

Also with the upcoming rewards you’ll probably see smaller groups anyways, with more commanders around and requiring at least 5 players in their squad.

The new update changes dynamics entirely and encourages people to tag up. This means there will almost always be an open tag if there are no other tags visible.

So the point is moot now.

It’s not used at all. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a group put up in the WvW LFG. Most of the time, players find a group in WvW by asking if there are tags up or not, or asking if anyone wants to roam, in /map or /team.

Which is one of the reasons why they’re updating this to be more visible within WvW, I guess.

Active WvWvW servers?

in WvW

Posted by: Namer.9750

Namer.9750

Half of the WvW servers are dead, and only serve a purpose to facilitate cheap transfers for players wanting to overstack host servers for easy wins, or to be carried by numbers.

My definition of active is a lot differn’t than Namers obviously, I have been to T1-2-3-4 and 3 and 4 are not very active 4 is the least. Some of the T2 servers are also not really that active.

Basically the game is on life support.

If I can find groups or individuals roaming on a map, plus zergs (either guild groups or pugs) on at least 3-4 days a week in a timezone from at least two servers, I consider that tier to be active in that timezone.

In Tier 2 currently, for instance, there are 2-3 guilds on SoS who have each raided on one or other day of the week, running groups of 20+. By contrast, HoD has pulled similar numbers about 3-4 days, and BG has pulled numbers too also on 3-4 days so far. Activity is subjective, and I know people who call a timezone dead because they don’t see a queue when they log in. I call it dead if I can’t get any action. We’ve had ‘dead’ days when neither HoD nor BG played, but we’ve also had days with both even open field guild fights and outnumbered siegefights that reached high levels of activity over one or two maps.

It’s not like pre-HoT days, but it’s not dead either and every single person who calls it dead is doing it a huge disservice by driving away new blood.

Active WvWvW servers?

in WvW

Posted by: Namer.9750

Namer.9750

Every server is active in primetimes, but in non-prime hours activity levels can vary massively. I can tell you with certainty that an OCX player in NA T4 or EU T4/T5 will be very much bored indeed unless he just prefers a bit of quiet roaming.

What time do you play (whether NA, EU, OCX or SEA primetimes?) Which side of the Atlantic are you in? What do you prefer to do, zerging or roaming or what? All those will determine what tier you want to be in.

The last thing we need is to reward players sitting on siege in keeps. If anything, they need incentives to come out and fight.

What if you’re there with a full map queue and they have 10 dudes inside?

I’m sure they’d love to come and fight if you dropped those extra 60 dudes from your tag.

It’s interesting to get perspectives on AG from both current and former players, because I’m actually looking to transfer in, and while it’s a little disheartening, it also makes me think of the line that says once you hit rock bottom, the only way left to go is back up.

That said, I don’t bring anything much: just a single, somewhat experienced fighty daytime driver who can drive ppt from dawn to dusk if needed

WvW on Aurora Glade

Namer.9750

Things like this does make me wonder if the NA system of bandwagoning or stacking is better or not…

Because in NA, there is always the chance someone goes on a power trip, transfers to a low tier server and starts buying guilds left and right until the server floats up several tiers, then implodes but retains enough people to maybe stay a tier above where it was before it all happened.

EU doesn’t have that culture, though, so there is absolutely no incentive for anyone to transfer into Aurora Glade, regardless of whether it’s money or fights. In NA, you can use both as carrots, but in EU it’s the latter. So there’s just a straight up downwards spiral.

What’s AG like in daytime rather than primetime? I’d expect less population, but is it that there are no guilds or drivers and so people don’t come out to play?

I do like Sviel’s post.

I’ve also had ideas about rewards, particularly incentivising breaking into towers and keeps. Essentially:

If you break into a T2 or T3 tower, you get one guaranteed Rare drop off the Lord. This is 3-4 times per week.

If you break into a T2 or T3 keep, you get one guaranteed Exotic drop off the Lord. Again, 3-4 per week.

If you break into a T2 or T3 SMC, you get two guaranteed Exotics dropped off the Lord. 2-3 times a week.

This would incentivise having mid-week action, preferably if the weekly reward reset is set to Monday or Tuesday. It would encourage weaker servers to attempt to work together to break into SMC multiple times a week, and discourage continuous papering of stuff but rather giving weaker servers breathing space to upgrade and defend their structures, while also giving normally fight minded guilds an incentive to hit fortified towers they normally wouldn’t bother to hit.

In addition, killing players should give more rewards, higher chances of rare weapons or a, account-bound “Mist War Loot Bag” that gives only T6 mats and is about three or four times rarer than the Heavy Loot Bags you currently get (So you might have 80 Heavy and 20 Mist War loot bags after a busy Reset Night), but with a sharp dropoff point for diminishing returns on a player-by-player basis (so if the same player is killed 4 or 5 times by the an enemy player from the same server within 30 minutes, he shouldn’t drop anything at all past the third or fourth kill.

This would encourage more fighting, but discourage farming the same group over and over again. For optimal rewarding-ness, for instance, your group could wipe an enemy group from server A twice in a row with 20 minutes, fight a second enemy group also from server A, then the first group could WP back and wipe your group. Your group waypoints back, rallies, then goes out and engages an enemy group from server B, winning a fight with them.

That’s, assuming moderate 15-20 man groups, anywhere from 50-70 kills spread out across 40-60 different enemy players. That should be the most rewarding, while getting the same 50-70 kills from wiping Group A 4 times in a row would give you way less rewards because the kills are all on the same 15-20 players. You would get, 8-10 rares, 20-30 Heavy Loot Bags, 5-10 Mist War Loot Bags from the former, and 3-4 rares, 10-15 Heady Loot Bags and 3-4 Mist War Loot Bags from the latter. For an example.

Essentially, WvW rewards should disincentivize doing the same thing repeatedly (ktraining or farming), but it should encourage continuous action with different slants: fighting different groups instead of running over the same one repeatedly, attacking different structures on different maps instead of ktraining the same 3-4 paper towers in EBG in a circle, etc. Ideally, all these rewards would also be scaled via Time-Slices and Activity Levels, to prevent a server that utterly dominates a timezone getting the full force of all these rewards.

Ultimately, rewards should be based on participation in WvW activities, not winning skirmishes or matchups.

Desert Borderland Map

in WvW

Namer.9750

The two fundamental problems with Desert BL are:

1) Strategic importance of various objectives is lacking. The towers are worthless, and in terms of taking keeps, only the camps are useful because there are treb spots to hit the keeps in the camps, not the towers.

2) It’s a painful map to play offensively on. With the latest shrine changes, it’s defensive enough and defenders can move around fairly fast: but with movement between the northern half and the southern half being so kitten poor for attackers, nobody wants to go on the offensive on this map with a large, fighty group, and so there’s little to no action, so defenders eventually leave the map leaving it open to ktrainers.

Alright, there seems to be some issues here about people not understanding.

This is a QoL request for guilds that run closed and pugless

Understand, that guilds who want no pugs on their tag already run tagless. They then have to deal with the disorganization that comes with it. It hurts their ability to engage in combat. But they’re not showing up on the map and thus excluding people anyway.

This won’t lead to anything new, just make it easier for a lot of guilds.

The argument that it creates exclusivity and the example that someone enters a WvW map, sees no tags on, leaves, even if there are guild groups on the map because currently, those guild groups are already running tagless. The scenario you’re laying out is already happening, only it’s harder on the guild. The argument of exclusivity is worthless.

Some guilds like to run only with their own people and dont want pugs.

So is pugs following guild an American thing or something? Most of the time pugs seem to respect the yellow tag (“official” closed raid tag on my server). Theres no need for a private tag. Those that blatanty dont respect guilds will run after the closest bundle of players anyway – ie your guild raid that “only run with its own”. If it aint tagged it aint a raid so cho cho leeching!!!

It’s an NA thing, and EU probably doesn’t have it but EU also has a completely different culture, to the point where I’ve said before that NA plays real WvW while EU plays GvG. The statement’s not exactly correct, but imo it’s close enough.

Namer.9750

ANet has already said no as it doesn’t foster inclusiveness so they will not do it. I tend to agree.

I don’t think inclusiveness matters at this point in the game. Guilds that want to raid semi-closed and don’t mind pugs following will run a visible tag. Guilds that don’t want pugs just following behind, running into watchtower/sentry range, screwing up stealth engages, screwing up enemy downs by being rallybots, screwing up the guild group by literally being Epi Bait, and all that jazz.

There are disadvantages to running closed and invisible too, you know. You’ll find it harder to recruit. Other tags on the map will have a htarder time coming to help you (since they can’t see your tag either). You can’t fluff up your numbers with pugs.

And if you really want to follow that guild group and run with them, join the guild. Inclusiveness isn’t the fault of guild groups or whatever, it’s the fault of pugs who don’t care enough.

I have to agree with Ni In. You can set your squad to where the squad leader can invite only. Or once you get your members in, set it to no one can join. As a Pug myself, I see a group, I tend to follow but not engage.

Sure, you don’t engage, and a lot of people are glad to hear that. Other times, 90% of the pugs I see basically tail after the group, then once we’ve pushed in and generated 3-4 downs, they run in and drop instantly and rally half those downs. God knows why…

Most of the players in WvW are just upset that nothing has really happened in months and we feel like we’ve been ignored.

We just want to see what is actually going on behind the scenes with WvW, maybe given some DevBlog update style stuff since you’ve been mostly silent on what is changing and being worked on.

Different companies communicate in different ways and sometimes the process evolves over the years. Mike O’Brien explained how we choose to communicate in this forum post a few years ago. What he said was, “We’ve set a clear policy in the past year: we don’t talk speculatively about future development. We don’t want to string you along. Creating fun is an uncertain business: sometimes things work out and sometimes they don’t; sometimes we go back to the drawing board over and over before we get something right. If we make optimistic promises and then can’t deliver on them, everyone suffers. So when we attend a trade show or give an interview, we’re there to talk about what we’re getting ready to ship, not to speculate on what we might ship someday.”

I understand that some players would prefer a different manner of communication. I wanted to share the comments above to show that silence does not point to inaction or neglect or indifference.

The topic of conversation doesn’t matter. Nobody’s asking to talk about future developments.

What people here want is actual communication. Look at how many ANet devs often make cheeky oneliner comments on Reddit. It fosters a sense of cooperation there, and people on Reddit know that the Devs are listening even if no Dev ever actually talks about future releases.

We need that here. We need the active presence of a few different devs, so that people know they’re being listened to. So far, regardless of what you may say about WvW not being abandoned and Devs are listening, it sure as hell doesn’t feel like it here.

I believe that a lot of these threads and posts are an outburst against what the majority see as an utter neglect of the game mode. Whether this statement is objectively true or not doesn’t matter, perceptions do.

If there was more developer/moderator activity in here, where they actually participated in threads or discussions, even a few posts a week, then there would be a constant ‘presence’ of ANet on these subforums, which would lead to both better overall behaviour and overall discussion and contribution. As it is, the analogy that can be used is a teenaged kid being neglected by their parents and only having other faceless adults slap them back into line whenever they act out of turn (i.e. the moderators who delete every thread that may turn into a Matchup Thread, sometimes a little too heavy-handedly).

This isn’t any sort of jab at the moderation, simply an observation from someone who finds these forums useless in terms of actual communication and only gets on to make snarky comments. The lack of overall communication here, while understandable considering workloads and developer times, is leading to this particular subforum becoming irrelevant when it comes to fulfilling it’s actual purpose.

That was a bit of a write, but if you read this far, Thanks.

Chaba, to my knowledge, mains FA.

This is more of an attempt to encourage people, who are in high, competitive tiers but only play WvW casually and so complain when they’re run over by more dedicated players, to move off Higher Tier servers off to a lower tier server. FA is currently trying to tank out of T1 but most likely being held up there by pugs ppting without understanding the consequences.

Looks fine, though you’d want Greatsword for zerging over Sw/Sh because Arc Divider is freaking broken and hits 10k on backliners on a 3s CD. You also want either Draining or Absorption over Hydromancy on your hammer.

The Defense Grandmaster trait should be Cleansing Ire, absolutely. The condi cleanse and adrenaline generation from Cleansing Ire is just too good, and in Berserk Mode you can remove 6 condis every 5s just from that (and otherwise still 3-4 every 5s) by using weapon swap to generate adrenaline to spam bursts. Rousing Resilience is a decent choice when roaming, against power builds, but it’s meh in zerging.

Also, Destruction of the Empowered over Brawler’s Recovery. Always. Esp. if you take Cleansing Ire, there’s all your cleanse and you don’t need that minor bit. With DotE, you can literally cut through a boonstacked frontline as if it had no protection at all.

Marauder+Durablity with Zerker Trinkets is fairly nice, yup. I personally run Scrapper over Durability, and it’s a more stat-efficient but selfish option.

Its great, they should just remove the claim buff, so it doesnt give massive advantage for defenders, they already have portals/siege/chokes, do they really need to have 2 to 5 extra foods worth of stats (400 or 800) to make them unbeatable in equal number fights?

Eh, a guild that hides inside a keep with even numbers isn’t going to fight you normally anyway and will most likely spam ACs regardless of the buff. The buff helps outnumbered groups defend against bigger ktrain blobs pushing in. If you want an even numbers fight just ask them to come out or draw them out to an open field through treb fire.

kitten how fun that would be. The entire melee frontline would move at base speed while backline is 25-33% – it would make light and medium melee builds lead the charge. It would even put the thumb down on roaming warriors – sure you can be near immortal with your 1K/s hp regen and passives coming out the kitten but you cant run for kitten.

It would be glorious!

Nike warrior would still be a thing because Warrior’s mobility is from his weapon skills lol.

And backline would never lead the charge unless you want to get wiped off the face of the map. What would happen is… nothing, because with swiftness everyone is moving at the same speed anyway, and literally what group in WvW doesn’t have permanent swiftness up from symbols before an engage?

The problem is that ANet altered glicko massively. -100 and -150 is huge. It can be the difference between a Tier 2 and a Tier 4 server easily. So, with that massive adjustment, the semi-delicate balance we’d made in NA in T2, T3 and T4 was all thrown completely out of whack for no goddarned reason at all.

Essentially, a bunch of people got rewarded for not playing the game. Here’s to hoping Mag gets stuck in Tier 3, so we can re-establish the 3 good tiers we had.

Ascended Vendor WvW

the crafting token takes out a big chunk of the cost of crafting the ascended gear

not really. I did the math for armor and you save on average 5 gold per piece of ascended if you get it through pvp/fractals from crafting it outright atm. Some pieces are actually more expensive to get through pvp than crafting them outright. Since 500 badges are worth 5 gold and armorpieces would most likely need more than that, it is unlikely that adding a vendor to wvw would actually reduce prices for ascended gear over crafting in any relevant way.

I agree that it is silly to have other gamemodes have options we don’t have in wvw, but the patch that added the tokens made getting ascended in other gamemodes not worth it. So for this to be worth it, they would first have to reduce the number of tokens needed per armorpiece in all gamemodes to give the special currency a value as well.

Ah, the costs depend on how they balance it for WvW, I suppose. The main thing is that playing this game mode that is not PvE is contributing to my ascended gearing.

And yet you still cannot give a reason on how it will improve access to ascended gear when both the existing method and a vendor will require ~the same amounts of crafting.

If it’s a vendor, there’s no crafting. If you want to spend your game time crafting to show how dedicated and how good you are at the game then have it. This isn’t a raid progression game where you show off your new stats that came out last month, most people in WvW don’t care beyond getting best in slot stats out of the way so they can actually play their builds and show off cosmetics. You can be tryhard but don’t expect everyone else to have the same arbitrary standards that you can’t help but double down on.

guess you missed the part where anet added crafting tokens to ascended gear purchasing and suggested that if any further ascended gear vendors were added in the future they would come under the same system.

Regardless, the crafting token takes out a big chunk of the cost of crafting the ascended gear and you can buy the mats you need to craft the token. Which would mean it would reduce the time spent in PvE grinding for mats or going through complicated crafting chains, and it would also make Ascended Gear cheaper to obtain through WvW for WvW players only due to Badges of Honour/Proofs of Heroics/Some other WvW currency tanking part of the cost.

The question here isn’t about what ascended gear is needed or how it is obtained. The question here is that Why doesn’t WvW have equal ways of obtaining Ascended Gear as sPvP and Fractals do?

By all right WvW is an endgame mode. You can argue semantics all day, but at the end sPvP is a game mode that doesn’t require any of your own gear and still allows you to get ascended gear by using an sPvP currency to tank part of the cost. Fractals drops ascended gear like candy. WvW drops two ascended boxes in a year. Clearly, there’s bias to be seen here and all this thread is asking for is for that bias to be rectified and acquisition to be made eve across all game modes.

I assume you mean NA since everyone is NA is gtfo’ing T1.

Tier 2 and 4 for guild fights, tiers 3 and 4 for casual fights and actual roaming.

Also depends on the timezones. Tier 3 is very ktrainy offhours, since only one server each really has coverage during OCX and SEA. Tier 2 has heavy fights in all timezones, including EU on some days. Tier 4 is mostly NA and SEA fights.

Oh, silly.

SoS has no OCX and our SEA wouldn’t hit a door if you paid them to. You can keep your dreams.

As said above, plus when HoT came out Boonshare was in vogue, so Resistance was everywhere and the buffed Condi spam wasn’t noticeable. Then Boonshare gets nerfed and Epidemic is everywhere.

The WvW team is currently working on Scoring Improvements Phase 2, which was determined in the last priority poll. This involves adding rewards to Skirmishes and improving the Skirmish UI. A goal for these scoring improvements is to give WvW players a reason to play and win WvW Skirmishes.

Population and bandwagoning issues are something the WvW team is constantly discussing and working on. Currently there are plans to help discourage bandwagoning coming with Phase 2, but we aren’t ready to announce details for everything in that system yet.

Isn’t that the same copypasta they’ve been using for the past 4 months?

Another issue is that a lot of the open areas on desert BL are also hilly and sloped, which screws up many skills for many classes.

(Also lol Mag player talking about Desert BL, when every T2 and T3 server individually puts more players on Desert BL over one night than Mag does over a week. Legit when did you last see desert BL queued lol? Mag is the biggest offender of “ugh dbl screw that might as well go eotm”)

People keep talking about how easy it is to counterplay condis don’t even fight good groups. If you think you can “just pop resistance/cleanse it”, you’re not fighting a group that focuses Epi bomb: you’re fighting some pseudo pug blob with one or two Epi necros, or some bad guild group who don’t know how to focus.

Yeah, you can counterplay it. For about the first 10-20 seconds. In fights, things can and do go wrong. Players can get ping spikes. Someone can get pulled. The wrong boon (i.e. Resistance itself) gets ripped. The wrong condition gets cleansed. The group gets separated out of range of cleanses.

If I’m fighting with any kind of organized group, epidemic, and conditions do nothing. Between the resistance from Revs and Mesmers, and the massive amount of condi cleanses from eles, guards, and duids, I never died to condis, even in an epi bomb. If you’re group is having an issue with this, then add a rev to your group comp. Even when epi bombed, the condis are not even there for more than a split second. This change to light fields does nothing for group play but lessen the amount of retailiation.

What if your Revenant gets pulled? What if your revenant goes down? The enemy group pushes in, dropping Wells. Your party’s revenant’s stab gets stripped/corrupted and he gets bombed. He goes down, and the resistance is suddenly gone, meaning your party is now vulnerable to those 20 stacks of burning and bleed you stacked up because you had Resistance and weren’t caring before. You say an Ele can cleanse, but can an Ele cleanse 6-8 different conditions at the same time? An Ele could maybe cleanse 4 at a drop: say, cripple, vuln, chill, poison. Then they get instagibbed by the 32 stacks of Bleed that they failed to cleanse because of RNG.

The problem is the margin of error to survive against Epidemic Bombs is too high compared to the margin of error needed to carry out Epidemic Bombs. If you have two groups of perfectly matched skill level, only one running power and one running condi, the group with the Epidemic Bomb will win every time because all it takes it one skill that’s on a 12 second cooldown, and can stack up. On the other side, if you miss one spot of resistance, or fail to cleanse the damaging condition, you drop. Simple.

Tbh the change to light fields decreases the rate at which various stray Conditions will build up on your zerg, but against a group that actually focuses and pinpoints the Epi-bomb, it does jack all.

I saw before JQ was full, but someone said they were opened recently. I know JQ had like No NA, but they seemed fat in other timezones.

In what timezones?
“In other timezones” implies that JQ has many players in at least two timezones, when NA is pretty empty.
As an EU player I can tell you, that JQ is even more empty at EU (and always was) in my timezone. That leaves OCX and SEA as potential timezones you were talking about.
As far as I know JQ hasn’t any OCX left after SoX left some month ago – which was the only active “larger” OCX guild on JQ.
So, maybe or SEA is still big after 3-4 guilds left to BG a while ago. I can’t tell, but still your “fat in other timezones” is wrong.

JQ is by no means an empty server. They have SF and CF, DKLT and HzH left for NA, VALE runs 30 through OCX, Cloudfly gets on in late OCX and keeps a map queued until early EU.

JQ may lack staying power through sheer number of guilds, but they’re ‘relatively’ fat in other timezones because of how long Cloudfly drives for. By driving for like eight to ten hours a day and keeping a 25-40 man group on him at all times, he keeps JQ’s activity level relatively high, which leads to JQ being calculated with a high population.

Frankly, Links are a method for ANet to keep specific servers in the specific tiers they want the servers in.

Consider that SoS and FA were relatively even in terms of pugs, guilds and overall coverage last linking. However, this linking, FA got a server that already had multiple guild groups sitting on it, while SoS got a ‘placeholder’ server. The intention here is to create a Tier 2 with FA and SBI as consistent contenders, and to create a T1.5 server with JQ and 3.5 server with CD.

(TC’s fate is still undetermined, at the moment…)

What is classed as a good amount of power. like i want to change my build from pure support to have more damage but i want to know how far i need to push my power before i am over doing it so what would you guys recommend.

Depends on your class, tbh. Can’t really say power without knowing class, and you also have to take into account Precision and Ferocity unless you’re planning to use a Condi-based build

For example, I generally aim for about 2500-2600 power minimum on my Warrior with Food and Utilities on (mainly Sharpening Stone since I often use Seaweed Salad for food), but I also have 55% Crit Chance and 205% crit damage.

Also keep in mind there is no ‘over doing it’. You can’t really make hybrid builds, either go full damage or full support. And if you go full damage, your concern should be “What’s the squishiest I can handle?” If you can handle full Berserker, go full berserker. If you keep dying, put some tankier gear on. As a newbie, I’d suggest a mixture of Marauder and Soldier for any power-based (direct damage) build, and as you slowly get better you can add berserker pieces.

Isn’t this where Mal and the alliance is? If yes, I’m staying miles away.

Mal and his alliance left the server a while ago, you’re safe from them!

Where did they go and whats wrong with them?

Essentially, the Alliance was a group of 2-3 guilds, including OnS and TW, who coordinated movements across servers. Mainly, they stacked on YB to break the T1 wall back in 2015 and (unsuccessfully) tried to stop the Dragonwagon in early 2016 by stacking on TC.

It’s broken up now, and Mal doesn’t give a crap about stacking servers and gaming the system anymore. But it caused a lot of resentment when they were around, since SoS and FA alike got hit badly by YB’s push to T1.

Back after a break... WTH happened?

Er, Colin has left Anet and the new format is clearly the battlegroup proposal that was talked about a while ago.

The Battlegroup proposal was trashed in favour of the far inferior Server Links, and we’re unlikely to see Battlegroups any time soon because of the amount of effort it would take.

The only suggestion I’d make about Jump Pads is that you shouldn’t be able to activate them while in combat. Otherwise, it just allows for too much cheese.

Frankly, I think this does absolutely nothing for the overarching problem of DBLs, which is that there’s a lack of strategic connection between the objectives, and it is too fustrating for the Attackers to travel around. The only way I see this to work is for attacking groups to have roamers running around ahead of them, otherwise this isn’t helpful.

That said, roamers now get a bigger job: cap the shrines and cripple enemy mobility. It’ll also be nice to see shrines being used for flanking purposes or for rapid response (i.e. you hear a callout from Air that West Garri is being Cata’ed. You can take the East earth shrine and get to the west shrine in seconds. In the end though, it just makes DBL even more defensive and even worse to attack, which isn’t going to help population on the map.

Question about critical damage in wvw

in WvW

Posted by: Namer.9750

Namer.9750

As has been said, a bunch of factors could affect your damage.

One thing I’d like to point out is that I roam on an GS/Axe+Shield Warrior. I run Marauder’s + Knight’s Stats, and depending on the look of the enemy I’ll switch between Cleansing Ire and Rousing Resilience.

If I saw you, a Warrior, coming at me with a Greatsword, I’d immediately switch to Rousing Resilience. I have the equivalent of 3.3k armour naturally, that’d go up to 4.3k with Rousing Resilience, which would explain the massive drop in your damage (i.e you hit a squishy running 2.3k armour at low hp with F1, then hit someone with 4k armour at high hp later).
