From what I read in this thread, the words “Anet, please spoon-feed us!”
But seriously, everyone’s a critic. Get over it. I’ve read so much complaints in this thread, my question is, why do you still play? You are literally critical about EVERY single, aspect. meta events, HoT map layouts (looking at you TD), raids being too hard, fractals being kitten (I personally think so anyway), Masteries being too hard to get (what?). If you have so much of an issue with it, just don’t play. It’s probably better for you to quit than to complain about a game you apparently don’t enjoy. Not saying you have to like EVERYTHING, but if you dislike 90% of the game, then there is no point in you playing.

I haven’t read all 9 pages of this, but I’d like to throw in this, especially because I’ve noticed a lot of QQs.
Raids were added for those who would like a greater challenge. It was not intended for everyone. They are not forcing casuals to do it. The only beneficial things are ascended boxes, skins and minis, nothing game changing. Typically I find that casuals don’t strive for ascended armour anyways, and ascended armour can be crafted, gotten from pvp, fractals, etc. So getting ascended from the raids shouldn’t be considered “game changing”.
Raids are in no way blocking progress, maybe just missing out on slight side story.
YET, I see and hear of casual players trying to do raids, then complain. A lot of times they not only meet the required skill level, they do not want to spend an extended period of time raiding, and a lot of times are unwilling to adapt to a different class.
“I like playing condi revenant, I don’t want to do boring power revenant.”
“I use full soldier’s because berserker makes me squishy.”
“I like running full magi on my thief, because it sustains me better.”
All the meanwhile the group(s) are lacking and these casual players refuse to adapt.
They then complain raids are too hard, or that Anet is moving towards “that 1%”.
That’s not a fair claim. The community wanted harder content. Anet gave it. To be honest before raids there was no hard content.
In my opinion nowadays there is no balance between casual and noncasual. People are either “casual players ruin the game” or “hardcore gamers make the game hostile” which often leads to “I don’t want to follow the meta” (which is fair, people can play what they want" vs “the meta is efficient and I would like to do this efficiently so I can move on to OTHER aspects”. Albeit, these arguments may not present itself so nicely.
STOP COMPLAINING. Anet is trying to cater to everyone, and I think GW2 has a great balance. There isn’t anything game breaking that prevents casual players from playing.
For raids, which hero setup does one run? I know Shiro is supposedly more DPS, but doesn’t mallyx have better breakbar, boonstrip, and that 10% stat boost elite?
PS. Does Mallyx’s elite share with other party members?
What is the current meta for Condition engineer in raids? I’m using the metabattle one for dungeons, but is that what I should be running?
Also, I don’t see mortar in the rotation on Metabattle. Am I supposed to fit that into my rotation?
/15characters…..
Too soon.
I think what DnT did was very immature, and intentionally so. But, I don’t think Anet handled this too well.
I always disliked the Night sigil, never used it, be cause you had to have different sets of weapons. This was silly. I like the change.
Well I somewhat agree’ somewhat disagree here. I main ps war (I guess zerker zerker ps war now). And it was always annoying to have to carry multiple greatswords. But what about my other weapon slots? If I played the entire game using gs + axe/mace I wouldn’t be playing very efficiently. For example at mai trin I usually go gs + mace/shield for cc + blocks during the first half of removing stacks.
Is carrying multiples of the same weapon really any different from carrying different weapons? Because I would imagine the builds used in raids could very well use different weapons, especially in classes with weapon swap. This is a form of gear progression in the game, whether you allow situational sigils or not.
I think what he was referring to was having several greatswords. One for night with x slaying, one for night with y slaying, one for day, etc. I suppose in general slaying sigils are so cheap you could just keep the sigils and replace them every time you need a different slaying sigil, but meh
Please provide more details. A list would be fantastic <3
MTX Combat Boosters – Speed, Might, Regen, Swim Speed (ect)
Food/Utility with +%Damage vs Monster Type – These will not have any benefit
Pet Consumables – Ogre Pet Whistle, Fire Elemental Powder (ect) will be disabled
Sigils of +%Damage vs Monster Type- These will not have any benefit
Sigils of Night – This will not have any benefit
Costume Brawl – Costume Brawl Pet summons will be disabledI might have missed some things here, but you get the picture. Feel free to ask about specific items, however if they are likely to add a edge to combat, they are likely disabled.
What about runes?
Soooo vague. Why not just tell us what items will be restricted? Do we have to go figure it out for ourselves?
Starting point would look something like this: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vhAQRAse8cnsIC9ph9fCmfCUrhFVjiMAGhirOZn2qFtLSjsD-TRRBABXt/o8DP9DA8EAoU9HzUCSKA9kaB-e
Domination can trade Blurred Signets and Mental Anguish for Furious Interruption and Power Block if you’re against mobs that are easily interrupted or have skills that you want to shut down.
For Reflect heavy fights where mimicking/rifting Feedback doesn’t cut it (like Uncategorised Fractal) you’ll want to bring something like: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vhAQRAse8dnsIC9ph9fCuqBUrhFVj68JGijgMAGhirOZn2qF-TRRBABXt/o8DP9BA8EAoU9HzUCSKgR1ZB-e
Now with this build you’re looking to maximize your Critical Strikes. So if you’re lacking Precision you can swap Improved Alacrity for Danger Time, run with Accuracy Sigils, or you may need to have a set of Assassin’s gear on hand. Granted Revenants are bringing perma-Fury, and Rangers/Druids are being more common in groups. Thus, Precision is easier to get a hold of as well.
Sweet! Exactly what I was looking for.
I don’t have daredevil yet. But I’m trying to prep for it, so I’m wondering if I should, or shouldn’t make an ascended staff.
Why Harmonious mantras trait if there is no mantras being used?
There is nothing good about the staff at this stage. Everything else better. Staff is underpowered.
So what weapon would you recommend?
NOTE: I am referring specifically to PvE (HoT stuff and Fractals and what not)
(edited by NaotsuguLH.8915)
Why? What’s so amazing about the staff? Wouldn’t you lose the mobility of SB?
I know the trait line is good, but is it worth using the staff?
Can’t seem to find a finished meta build, so what’s the placeholder build people are running.
For: PvE
Please include gear+ trinkets, crunched numbers if available – which I suspect it isn’t.
So basically I hate my mesmer, yet love every other mesmer. GG.
So Assassin’s ONLY outshines zerk when, say, 25 stacks of might are present?
Why is Assassin’s gear Meta? I know it’s great for reflects, but I find my damage to be bad when I run Assassin’s. Wouldn’t zerker be better? Especially for Chronomancer?
UGH!!!!! Are you telling me DH guardian is now Meta? -.- I think I’l quit guardian at this point.
I don’t want to stray off point, but anyway, I noticed you didn’t include Viper reaper. Why is that?
1) They won’t give it back. 2) “Reopened” means to open again.
If you make it too easy to acquire (that doesn’t require much grind), then you get the legions of players who already have a legendary throwing a fit (imagine the “Twice-Told Legend” fury x 1000).
But they couldn’t make it too difficult either. Tie precursor hunts with something difficult like raid challenges and you get legions moaning that it’s “too hard” and “not fun.”
I’m not convinced there is a solution that will satisfy even a simple majority of players here.
All they need to do is add new ACCOUNT BOUND materials, a system like HoT maps currency. You have to do engaging events to get your currency.
It’d be a long journey, but at least it DOESN’T involve the economy and is not a gold gate yet again.
People already consider the new content “HARD” I understand what you are saying, but it STILL wouldn’t be able to satisfy the majority.
So, and I’m sorry for this, but I’ve pretty much been avoiding most topics on this. Are you recommending Viper strictly for condi heavy classes (i.e. Necro, maybe Warrior), or are you trying to say that Viper overall is the best stat for any class that has condi (i.e. Guardians have burns). What classes are you recommending Viper for?
I may run Viper on my condi mes, but I don’t know if condi mes would be any good in PvE.
Edit: Maybe even condi Warrior if condi Warrior is viable in PvE.Viper is always better than sinister for any condition build as long as you don’t burst the 100% condition duration limit. That limit exclude condition duration from trait for specific weapons like Chemical Rounds.
Condi Mesmer isn’t particular good in PvE. Warrior condi is better than Mesmer, but it still less good than a direct damage warrior. I don’t know if Bezerker elite spec might change that, but I doudt it.
Right now. The only 3 profession that are worth it in condition build are Engineer, Ranger and to a lesser extend guardian. This may change over the next couple of weeks as people test thing out with the new spec.
I main my guardian, but I find it hard to believe condi guard would be viable in PvE considering the only condi it really has is Burning. I mean, sure it has blind and immobilize, but, condi damage doesn’t affect those.
You can get them from Fractals
The problem is, ‘playing the game’ for me involves being in fractals, or the maguuma jungle. Neither of which give me access to iron, mithril or many other materials needed to craft the ascended items needed to make the precursor.
SO I have to buy them. But if I am going to buy them, then the cost of the item in question is about as high as the actual precursor on the tp
SO why would I do the precursor crafting when it results in doing the same thing as just buying the item, except I have to jump a few hoops as well.
You’re logic is so flawed. Mining nodes involves “playing the game”. Mithril can be mined in Fractals. Mithril can be mined in the Maguuma Jungle. You can do a round of iron farming in so many maps and easily get 100 iron ore in <30 mins. I don’t understand you’re complaining. You do not HAVE to buy the materials. You just choose to.
I posted on a thread not too long ago and it said “about an hour ago”. Scroll up and 2 posts above said “30 mins from now”, then “5 mins from ago” then “1 day ago”.

I believe they said later today/tonight.
Edit: “To that end, we’ll be making some changes in an update today that will address some of the things that have come up as players have dug into Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns.”
Lol to Cerpin’s comment. But honestly, I suppose I can understand why they are doing it, but to be frank, it’s more “challenging” if they don’t change it.
Seriously, this makes me laugh. I’m running zerker and can solo a large portion of the new content. Sure, some HPs require more people, but that’s where the “Massively Multiplayer Online Game” comes in. That’s why Guilds exist in game, and why we have the map chat capability.

Some adventures have ridiculous requirements. I was doing one the other day and for the life of me could not get gold (requires you to complete the adventure in 1:20). It was the race in AuB. NO ONE had gold. NO ONE was even on the leaderboard for more than bronze. I’ve been finding some of the challenges too easy (i.e. the one with tendrils in VB) and some nearly impossible to get gold (i.e. the first one in AuB, and the race one I mentioned where you take on the form of a mushroom).
I hope sincerely, you will review the criteria for achieving gold in these and change them accordingly.
Well, I know you all are saying it’s harder this year, but take into account I have 30 days left with more than 9.2k AP. That means roughly less than 800AP needed in those 30 days ish. I’m pretty sure I can do it. But the question is, has it been done?
(edited by NaotsuguLH.8915)
You can’t do it now. There was a lot more content. There were monthlies. The dailies could give you more. Maybe wait till the expansion starts to begin counting if you want that much a year.
I’m at 9.3k with like 25-30 days before my first GW2 birthday. I really think I can. Still have about 200-300 from dailies, and all the slayer/weapon master achievements. I’m also considering getting more HoM points (I have like 11). Halloween is also coming up.
Well if that’s all you have left. Yah. I thought from your post you were just beginning or counting 10,000 from your current number.
No no, I meant from 0-10,000 AP in the span of my first character being created until it’s first birthday.

Has anyone ever managed to get 10k AP in their first year? First year being from the date the first character was created until 365 days later. I am currently trying to accomplish this. Just wondering if anyone has ever done it.
I have a suggestion. Either:
a) Arrow carts do no damage to seige
b) Remove Arrow Carts
c) Hide everything that’s behind a wall
I’m more in favour of option a
Honestly, if Tempest water and air weren’t so bleh. I would love to. Doesn’t help that the traits are completely ununified.
As the title suggests, I’d like one that works for zerging with celestial gear. Preferably using Staff, as I’d rather have my 1200 range than say 600 with DD, but if Cele staff isn’t viable I am willing to do D/D or D/F
Interesting. Thank you so much. I wonder when the matchup will change haha.
You all completely missed my point. I just want to know how long it’s been Mag vs SBI
How long has SBI been matched against Mag? I know we’re 10+ weeks, but I’m wondering if we’re at 20+ weeks yet. If anyone knows exactly, that would be nice.
This seems to be an issue with a lot of events connected to that collection…
I just realized with http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Protect_krewe_leader_Dobbs_as_the_krewe_clears_the_excavation_site
is also bugged.
I reported in game, but I want people to notice this.
because http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Clear_Broken_Spit_of_the_Risen_sea_creatures_replicating_themselves
is broken,
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Protect_Scholar_Breandan_while_he_examines_the_seabed_near_Broken_Spit
can’t be done.
And because it cannot be done,
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Orrian_Pearl#Fine
cannot be obtained to complete
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Treasure_Hunter
In this event the Replicators cannot be destroyed, and the chain cannot progress. Because of this I cannot get the item for Treasure Hunter I need.
“This means that if you program a macro, it must require one keystroke per action. You may not program a single key to perform multiple functions.”
and
“You cannot program an “auto-clicker” macro that, for instance, opens chests while you play elsewhere.”
Do chests include champ bags, etc?
So if a person sets a key to click for him, but is still at the computer pressing, tapping, holding, or whatever method they set the macro to activate, is that bannable?
Based on what I read it isn’t, but it seems to me they are intentionally unclear on the matter, which indicates to me it is bannable.
Not to be rude, but do you have anything to support your statement that using it for boxes or buying items is ok?
I saw some people talking about autoclickers, and I was wondering if they were bannable in game? The people I saw said no, but I’m not convinced.
Long story short, My computer (windows 8.) did a “refresh” yesterday and I had to reinstall GW2. When I loaded it up, my setting seemed fine, but there was one thing I had not noticed since I started playing in November. When I click on a node, there would be a shiny green border around it, same for NPC. When I clicked on a player it would be blue. I REALLY dislike it and would like to turn it off, but I don’t know how. Again, I’ve never noticed this before.
I just took a quick SS for reference
I tried it, and honestly I’m not a fan of Axe/Sword. Is there a reason why Axe/sword is so good?
