The adventure dailies don’t complete if your not standing at the cage when the zone changes.
Only found out that this is what triggers it yesterday.

I like the idea but many wont as it give Anet a direct and visible way of controlling the market, which is against their (anets) design (they always mention the player driven market as a selling point)

from a players stand point it destroys the market investment (why invest in an item when anet could break your profit at any point).

As a more acceptable option set the gobbler on a rotation like the pact supplies etc (all materials in the bank can be on the list for varying amounts)

This gives anet a direct way of removing the excess mats while not ruining the player driven market.

I never knew there was a difference, so basically it’s actually bad to do the events if your not going to use the armour……… that’s just not smart, they need to be like golems in wvw, get out and let others take control.

Sorry but nice try. Seeing how you can’t perma stealth with staff or perma evade with it either because punish frames are a thing

What are punish frames?

I think he was referring to the dp/staff builds ran atm though perma stealth is not usefull in pvp at all.

TBH I do find the constant bounding and voting a noting when I run my other to ons and come up against one specialy my necro who’s shouts and aoes all have to be perfectly timed to hit between the bunny hoping but since they die in seconds after I can live with that.

There is currently a way to reset the final rewards from the ascent to madness instance so that on your 2nd run you will get the 5 + 5 rewards again instead of the intended 4 + 4.

I won’t post the actual method but it is extremely easy and can/will happen by accident a lot, since this is an exploitable bug and I don’t want a ban hammer to come down on my head because of it can we please have this looked into or an official statement allowing it this year/until fixed currently I don’t want to run the instance from fear of the hammer.

This is something I’ve been trying to find out. The wiki has a page stating you can get the skin from the forge but it’s a page you have to know about to find (if not you just end up on the original grining shield page )

I seem to have a problem buying Gem, every time I try to I get this message:

“Unfortunately there was an error with the payment provider. Please try again later. If this error still persists please contact customer care.”

This has been happening for quite a while I believe, the last time I bought Gem I got the same message 3 times but within a few days I was charged for all 3 attempts and the Gem appeared in my account wallet.
Is this a known issue? or is there a problem with the site am?

I’m posting this here encase anyone else that has this issue knows what’s going on.

Yeah thats whats in mine. Since the gaming side of things is just an ‘after thought’ I would imagine she would be quite happy with the performance I currently have.
I’m guessing there’s not that many prebuilt laptops like this out there for this price then?

So somthing like the Lenozo Z500 wouldn’t be upto scratch for GW2 then?
I’m currently using my old MSI GT740 which runs fine if on low settings so thought anything above that would be good to go but as I said i’m not that knowledgeable about this kind of thing.

Hi guys I’ve been kooking at this for a while now and realised that I would be alot better off if I simply asked here where I can get more knowledgeable people to give me a hand.

Basically my gf has decided to get a new laptop with a budget of upto £600, she also wants to be able to play GW2 so she can join me and a few friends.
Unfortunately I’m not that we versed on what will actually be required for this, I can look at the specs and say ‘yeah that’ll play it’ but thats about it.

So guys are there any laptops out there that are:

1. Within this price range
2. Will play the game at a reasonable level (settings, fps etc)
3. Can be purchased in the UK

So far i’ve found a few brands that seem ok

That would be fine if they had given us other ways of getting the laurel infusions or made it so u don’t lose the infusions on upgrading but how it is atm me and others I know are still waiting to upgrade our amulets because none of us want to just throw away 10 days worth of gaming.
It either that or throw away a months worth and get a second amulet just for upgrading when its possible which with the limit on laurel acquisition atm is just not an option for me and mostlikly the same for anyone that runs alts.
What is thier reasoning for limiting fractals to 48 anyways?

So 4 months and they still haven’t activated the Mystic forge recipes for the amulets even though the upgraded versions have been shown to be in the .dat file from the first day they were introduced…….

Lol leave the forum for the weekend and the thread takes off twice as well as I expected
So thanks to all those commenting.
Have said that, i’m not quite sure if the thread is going of topic or not here, I had started the thread expecting comments regarding my idea or counter ideas/improvements, instead we’ve moved on to discuss the RNG containers and whether they are a appropriate method for skin distribution, now though I appreciate the need for this kind of discussion I feel that it would be better done in a thread of it’s own.
In reply to the comments saying anet wont compliment a system like this because the RNG containers make them too much money for them to give up.
this system would not destroy that profit by much at all, if as suggested there was a limit on the number of skins the system would reward there would still be plenty of people playing the RNG game for the other skins they want from the set and if others feel the same way I do I think even more would be willing to buy a few chances at an extra skin simply as a thank you to the devs for the ‘free’ skin.

i should have noted that the example given would be for the containers droped by mobs
another step would need to be made for the store bought versions, either the store bought veriosn would need to count as multiple normal container opens or there would need to be a seperate achivement for the store bought ones with a lower requirement for each tier while still rewarding the same items (copper silver, gold tickets)
will add this to the main post

as Vradiqa has said, a limit could be put on the number of times an item can be bought with these gold tickets, eg one weapon skin, 5 minis etc
this has already been done with the laural vendor and the crafting starter packs so is easily repeated.

@jheryn

as to the people that aren’t bothered by the RNG and just enjoy the drops they get, this wont change anything for them except increase thier happness when they get that tier ticket just by playing the game.

Over the last few major events there have been countless complaints about the RNG system that is being used with gemstore contains which contain desirable items, this includes the winters day minis, the Flame & Frost weapons, the scelerite skins and the new jade dragon skins.
With these complaints there are always numours suggestions as to ways that the system could improved including

Placing the items themselves in the gemstore.
Increaseing the drop rates of the desired items
Makeing the containers drop from mobs
Inceasing the odds of getting the items everytime u open a container.
Etc

Now some of these ideas have merit and some have actually been implemented but the problem is they still can’t guarantee that everyone can get one of these items but there is a system in place withing the game already that can……

And that would be the infinite achievements system, now by this I mean the system used for granting achivement points for things like salvaging, once u get the required amount done the achivement count resets and you have to start again.
Now if the team made an achivement like this for opening the containers they could then change the reward to be a item ticket instead of achivment points, this ticket could be then used to buy any of the items that the containers drop (each set to a reasonable amount eg 250 candy per ticket for the current containers).
This kind of change would allow everyone a chance to get what ever item they want while still allowing them to play the RNG game in hopes of getting the item sooner.

Example of the system.

Tier 1:
Requirement: open 100 containers
Reward: 1 copper ticket

Tier 2:
Requirement: open 250 containers
Reward: 1 silver ticket

Tier 3:
Requirment: open 500 containers
Reward: 1 gold ticket.

Items obtained with ticket.

Copper ticket:

10 pieces of food
100 pieces of candy
20 fireworks
1 common mini

Silver ticket:

3 copper tickets
1 masterwork mini
3 recipes of your choice

Gold ticket:

3 silver tickets
1 rare mini
1 jawbreaker
1 weapons ticket

Now obviously the number are just made up off the top of my head so proberly wont work out to a fair exchange but I can see this kind of system working so much better than the current one.

Opinions??

Hmm guess rng is rng then, though I did seem to find more from lower lv mobs than the higher ones (lv 80 risen zone seemed to have a very low drop rate).
The mobs that drop bags don’t seem to be as gd either…
But as I said rng………

Thats very true and me and a few other guild mates have found our own places to go and do a little hour long farm thats nothing to do with the holograms but unfortunatly the drop rates are terrible when compared to farming the holograms which can drop upto 4 boxes per node activation (my experience, admittedly this only happened 3 times and may have had 1 or 2 normalmobs dragged in to interfere with the stats).

A point against your no 2

The holograms aren’t the same as they were with any of the other events, all the other events had drops for each player even if they didn’t tag the mobs before they died, they were also in higher level zones (winters and SAB that is) which meant there more places people could go (so people ended up spreading out).

Also you seem to forget that people aren’t just farming them for the achievement, they are after the boxes which means that people will actually want to stop others getting to the holos because the less other people get the higher profit they can potentially make from selling them.

Your 1 and 3 are spot on though.

Hologram enemies die too quickly.

The thing is Facepunch, ur right they did listen to the wintersday feedback and they gave us the SAB mobs which were great, they weren’t insta killed, the dropped loot that everyone could pick up and they were in the same amount of zones.
But then anet decided to goand do this.
The holograms are:
way to easy to kill
Only drop loot for those that tag them
And are in less zones.

Why they decided to do this I just can’t understand :/

hmm i forgot about this, i wonder what it’s there for, i know for sure that it’s not where the “Game Over” area is as thats near the ‘Rapids’ map area.
maybe just a filler thing that looks cool, i didn’t see any lava when i was in that area on my adventure but may be i missed it.

i was a little supprised by the water, theres no surface texture so it just looks like air untill you hit it, the bubbles are cool, they raise to the surface aswell.

lol yeah random flag is random same with the croc and the tables.

ah that makes sense i had wondered why there were multiples of the death rooms.

unfortunatly i was teleported out when i got near the ‘death’ rooms so was unable to explore anymore, i was looking for the ery end zone after the waterfall, it isn’t actualy at the end of the waterfall (which is in screen 6).

So the other day I had the ‘misfortune’ of glitching under the map of the SAB, once there I decided to have a bit of a look around to see what could be found.

As requested by a few people here are a few of the screen shots I took while down there.

I’ve had a similar thing happen to me but in my case i died in the water normaly notihng to do with the clouds). when the next zone loaded i was ‘dead’ as if i was in the ‘real’ world and since there were no waypoints to spawn at i was stuck unless i wanted to disconnect, ended up getting a guild mate to come revive me.

why have the amulets still not had thier mf recipies added, the infused versions have been shown to be in the game yet still no way to make them.

i’m not haveing any lag problems or none that i’ve noticed but i do have a huge amount of game crashes ever since the jan update.
never had them before the update but i now have atleast 2 an hour and have had upto 5 in an hours worth of play.
the main problem i have with this is that i WvW so not only am i haveing a game crash i’m also getting charged twice for it (armour repair and waypoint cost) and i’m rewarding our opposing server aswell (if i was in combat at the time which isn’t always the case)
as you can imagine this has cost me quite a bit by now and i’m sure the same can be said for others.
server: fissure of woe
location: anywhere in WvW
other info: in or out of battle, waypointing or any other action other than simply running around seems to be what triggers it.
