Kodan could happen. Just look at Panderan for WoW. You can have different fur markings, and different shades of white… anywhere from like a blue, frosty white to a yellowed egg color to light gray.
I really like that male hairstyle. That’s not in the game either, huh?
When I first started GW2, I thought Guardian GS looked dumb – two of the skills being “LET’S SPIN AROUND NNNNNGGG” didn’t endear it to me.
When I started to get heavy into spvp I appreciated the Focus 5 → WW → JI thing, and that’s fun, but after running bunker builds I now use Hammer in both WvW and sPvP for damage builds.
It took a little time to “learn” Hammer but now I like it way better.
You really just use Invader’s Chain? That’s really impressive, man. Thanks for the build.
After I heard how little the healing co-efficient is on Meditations (.04? Something like 1k Healing Power needed to add 300~ HP to the heals), I’m unsure of it’s importance.
Wow! Can you share what armor/build you are in? You are basically running the what I want to aspire to.
I’m thinking meditation for roaming. I’m looking at a combo of soldier/cleric.
I’m looking at solo roaming, probably with a Hammer, and I’m wondering if a mix of berserker/cleric, zerker/knight, or zerker/soldier would be best. Any opinions? It’ll be my first set of gear, and I don’t want to waste the money! Have about 100g.
I love/hate Skyhammer.
Love: I main Guardian and Banish actually has a use. It feels great to Banish someone using the hammer right off the cliff.
Hate: Everything. For some reason it reminds me of an Unreal map…
I upgraded my weapon and trinks along the way, but I stayed in cultural stuff until I could use the next tier. Yep, idk.
Is this catching on? What would a build look like? I’m guessing utilities are sword/hammer/SYG!, but the spirit weapon traits are broken up into different lines.
It seems kind of fun for a switch.
I use the shield in one of my bunker builds, and I really wish I could justify getting that Legendary shield because it’d look awesome on my Guardian.
There’s nothing elite about the ability in it’s current state.
I really like Lambere. I hope you don’t mind if I snatch it up.
I think Anet just randomly puts Paladin-y names together. “Shield of Judgment” sounds way too hardcore for a tiny weak wave and 4 seconds of Protection. I think the wave should push back enemies.
I’d really like it if #5 just straight did Blocks instead of absorbing projectiles, so you can block attacks for allies in the radius.
It’s weird that our block is on focus. I feel like a block and a blind/small heal would be a much better fit for Shield. Honestly they could just switch the abilities with no change whatsoever and I’d be happy.

Constantine sounds kind of cool.
Lara Constantine? Lana? Lucy? Grace? Charity? Claire?
On topic, it’s a great video! It’s actually making me consider re-rolling my male Guardian as a female. I loved “JUST ACCEPT DEATH”, and the confidence to use the whole Guardian kitten nal.
I really like Mace and Hammer, but can’t seem to make them work for me. I’d be interested to see your Hammer/Mace/Meditation build.
Thanks for the suggestions! It seems more difficult coming up with a decent goodguy name.
Faith Brighthelm?
Mercy Brighthelm?
Charity Brighthelm?
I like “Cross” as a last name, too but “Faith Cross” is a little too on the nose.
I use it just to be cute in some Meditation builds in spvp. It’s… okay. The cast time does suck, but it’s also the shortest CD traited and gives Fury. I don’t think it’s objectively better than Shelter, but I didn’t miss it after the initial learning curve of learning when to use Litany of Wrath.
I’m considering making a female human Guardian, and I like the naming convention consisting of two descriptive words. What do you guys think?
I’m thinking either Faith or Mercy as a first name, and then the last name Dawnblade, or Lightbrand, or Lightbringer (that other MMO is deterring me from using this one), that sort of thing. There are tons of evil sounding name generators all over the internet, but far less for a holy-sounding last name.
What do you guys think? She is currently named Faith Lightbrand.
I wish we could trade Shield with Warrior. A stun and a block sound great. I’m kinda mad that we don’t block with our shield at all while Engi can.
I just used this, and switched out the utilities for whatever I felt like using at the moment. It wasn’t difficult at all. Hammer with the symbol to increase symbol duration is effective, but it pretty much means you are watching the auto animate forever, and that is all you do otherwise it’s a DPS loss and you loss protection.
GS is a little more involved, but I found it kind of squishy in certain story missions.
I was considering making a second Guardian, but I don’t think I’d have the discipline to never use the other one in a different gametype.
I’ve yet to find a build for one. Can someone give me a hand?
After playing every class in the game casually in spvp, I’d kind of like the little pie chart to actually reflect what I play now.
Also I’m like rank 33 but feel like I missed out on some key things and spent Glory badly at lower ranks. It’s kind of weird, but I wish I could restart without making a new account and losing my 80s.
Can you post your build? I’m really curious. Entertaining vid!
I’m pretty okay at sPvP, but as my Guardian approaches 80, I want to try out WvW. I’m a complete newbie at it. Could someone possibly help me with a Hammer/Med build for solo or small group roaming?
I’d really appreciate it. I found things approaching what this would look like, but never exactly. Are there any Theory Wars 2 pros out there who can help me out?
Also, would you say you use your Virtues as an active skill a lot? After watching many Guardian PvP videos I almost never see them activate say.. VoJ.. but there’s a lot of 5 pts. shuffled towards improving them while active.
Is there a decent Hammer build that uses Meditations? All the Hammer builds listed seem to be Shout-based, and I really like the healing from Meds. I guess I never pop the Shouts at the right time and get burned down fairly quickly.
Also, do you have a video of yourself using the “best Guardian DPS” build? I want to see how you play it, because maybe I’m doing it wrong. My best Guardian DPS was 10/0/30/30/0 using a GS and Sc+Fc.
I pretty much just have a Ranger to sPvP with when I’m bored, and as such, don’t really feel like running GS. Can someone give me a LB build? I tried a SB Spirit build and didn’t really enjoy it.
Wow, Nolzan, may I ask what colors you are using? That Gold looks pretty great.
I tend to gravitate towards neutral and earth tones, but my favorites are:
Riverbed, Mithril, Icing, Steel, Silver, Natural, Calfskin, Blueberry, Lifeblood!
What are yours? For what purposes? There are so many that maybe this could help another try some. I never was very fond of Celestial or Abyss.
It’s Stalwart Shoulders, Seeker’s Coat, Rawhide Bracers, Assassin Legs, Stalwart Boots. I have way more bombastic pieces, but these fit my Ranger. I tend to gravitate towards neutral or earth tones and like the realistic looking pieces over flaming floating particle effects.
I’m not quite ready to let my gemstore armor go, but I may make a mix of it soon.
It’s like payback from all the terrible Paladin armor I was forced to wear in other MMOs.
I remade my Sylvari to be a little more visually interesting. Also remade as a Ranger and made my Norn a Warrior.
Scepter definitely not my cup of tea. I’d rather go with sword.
My question being what’s the benefit of having the torch with the mace instead of the scepter (in my case sword) and same question for focus?
I guess I should’ve mentioned I don’t do sPvP almost at all anymore (loads of frustration) and while I find the scepter to be awesome when the target is confined in that small area on the point. It feels lacking in the vast openness that is the life of a wvw roamer.
Edit: Nevermind, half an hour with the sparring NPCs proved that it doesn’t quite work as I would’ve wanted to. Unless the stars align and Jon Peters is whispering in my ear for courage.
I’ve gotten 5k+ crits by throwing Torch #4 before a burst (which I assume would be Prot Strike + Wrath). Scepter is just nice for some range and #3 for setting up other people’s burst, I think.
Honestly I like Torch, I just wish Torch #5 worked like Ele Dagger Water #2, where it would heal allies in it’s radius as well.
And for the pure awesome that the best two things a Guardian can think to do with a torch is set themselves on fire or have dragonbreath.
I’ll look through your videos. It just feels underwhelming to me. Shouts are kind of boring (if effective) compared to Meditations, and Banish has an overlong cast time.
I’m not saying I know everything, just from a newbie perspective, the Mace Meditation DPS build is a lot of fun.
I’ve had the most fun with the mace/triple med build so far, but all of these are pretty great.
I find the “best dps build” hammer/staff kind of unwieldly, but I think that is just owed to how underwhelming guardian hammer can be.
Aw, I got skipped.
I like Baine, but Arcanesteel is kind of a mouthful. Overall I’d give it a 7/10, an extra point included for the cool playstyle you have in mind. Who didn’t think “Thor” when they saw the thunder hammer?
I’m going with Arngrim the Slayer, male Norn Ranger with the smallest body type and stubble, going for almost a Conan-like look. My background is that he sort of a wanderer who hunts monsters and lives on the fringes of Norn society as an outcast. Kind of a Witcher/Van Helsing type.
Edit: Does Arngrim Loneheart sound better?
