Nexace, the Immortal Legion Reaper! 3.8k Armor, 1.8k Healing Power, 57% Boon Duration, 28k HP.
Love seeing all these really great builds! This one has been mentioned, but I thought I’d share my rendition of it. The HEALING REAPER, very potent burst heals and amazing sustain! I roll all minstrel’s and still do about 4k DPS solo with minion backup and vuln stacking.

I get a lot of questions about why I pick blood fiend, but it’s only a preference, Well of Blood is definitely better team support! So don’t freak out.
P.S. If you guys are interested in sharing builds or necro theory crafting, message my in game for an invite to the no-rep guild Necromancy Supremacy [NS]. The guild is just about doing exactly what this thread is about: sharing builds without elitist/meta trash talking, theory crafting, necro style sharing, and occasionally doing all-necro events.
A bit late on this post, but you could always use the system link command from your OS to make this possible.
For example, if you move your files from “C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2” to “E:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2”, you could create a link by opening a command prompt with admin privileges and typing “mklink /d C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2 E:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2”. That works well for games that aren’t setup to be easily installed on drives other than whatever your main drive happens to be.
Hope that helps, or is at least informative.

Power necro is fantastic in spvp, as well as wvw zvz. Condi necro is good in spvp and literally has the best 1v1 build in wvw. It’s fine for small group roaming too. Yeah we suck at standing in corners….. oh well.
The condescending remark shows ignorance and misinformation. “Standing in corners” is very rarely used in speed clearing groups.
Still bad in pve and I would argue alot of what others have said about necro shows ignorance.
Well surely you understand not all of us enjoy zerging in blobs, or?
:>
o/
Necro is not broken or underpowered in PvE. Most of the time (and I say this from comments from people in game), Necros are considered weak because they don’t make the best zerkers in the game. Sure, a zerk necro works fine, but in comparison to warriors, etc. for dungeon running? Why play Necro at all? That’s what I hear a lot of anyway.
So just for fun, I made a video of my main soloing SE p1 with all the most “broken” necro mechanics. Namely minions. No gimmicks, no using broken enemy AI or exploits, just good old fashion toe to toe PvE.

Yeah, p1 isn’t the hardest dungeon in the game, but not many can solo it straight like that.

What: Signet of Plague
Why: Necromance fragile state as well as the growing use of randomized conditions hinder the passive of this skill.
Suggestions: Incoming conditions heals you with no ICD, CD reduce to 50 secs
The problem with this suggestion is that Necromancers are only fragile because you build them that way. A tank build utilizes the Plague Signet marvelously. It helps keep squishy teams alive and gives the Necromancer a good way to transfer more conditions, which it already excels at. Having this signet heal you on incoming conditions would be a bit over powered on necromancers built with 2000+ healing power unless the heal was made negligible or made to not scale with healing power, in which case you’d be creating more problems than you’d be fixing for glass canon style builds.
I do agree with the CD redux, however, it is a bit long.
Just some food for thought on this topic is the Axe Training major trait. Yeah it drops the recharge 20% just like Dagger Mastery trait, but unlike the dagger mastery trait it increases weapon damage by 10% while wielding an axe, including your off-hand weapon. This single trait puts axe on par with main hand dagger DPS while maintaining range—and that doesn’t even take vulnerability stacking into consideration. Here are the numbers and math if you’re interested.
On the down side, axe can’t hit multiple enemies with significant DPS at once like the dagger can. Why not just use both?
Yeah don’t use this guys website lol. has 2 bad builds and thats about it.
Yeah, it’s a new website (about 2 weeks now). We’re working hard though! Thanks for the support.
Minion Master has always served me well in PvE. It’s not terrible in PvP either, though I wouldn’t recommend it for WvW. Say what you want, but I can solo just about any champ/legendary and it’s not “press 1, f1, rinse and repeat” boringness either.
I’m in a small, albeit very experienced, necromancer support group that would be happy to help you out! We’re working together on a website to help people like you get into dark magic :P
Keep in mind that Vampiric Rituals only heals yourself, not allies.
If you’re going for "healing support " you take Transfusion as a trait. Don’t argue, just do it.
It’s difficult to use, but Renewing Blast gives the highest allied HP/second out of any profession in the game all on its own. In PvP, pop a Cleric’s amulet on and you’re healing significantly over 800 per life blast. The problem? It’s only going to heal an ally in WvW zerg fights or stack & smack fights where you don’t usually need the healing.
Amen to this! Transfusion is probably the most potent direct ally heal in the game. Also, if you pop transfusion and run out of Death Shroud juice (if you know what I mean), then Life Siphon will continue to work and heal you in the process. But I wouldn’t put your money on timing that everytime. Overall, it’s one of the best team support traits that necros have imo. You don’t even have to hit anything to throw down this massive AoE heal.
I was always jealous of Trahearne…
Necromancer wells can offer great support (protection, health siphoning, blinding, etc.). But if you’re looking for a sort of “healer” necro, I would highly recommend a Minion Master.
I understand that Minion Masters get a lot of heat from the community, but hear me out. Minions can make you nearly unkillable and provide DPS while you support your team/minions through excellent heals and regen. Necronex.com has a great guide to a healing/support MM here. Not to mention extensive explanations of weapons and uses for them.
While it’s true that the minion AI is buggy, there have been great improvements to Minions in the past year. For example, minions don’t aggro things on their own, minions don’t trigger traps or AoE-based effects (mostly), etc. You can practically move around as if they aren’t there now.
Hope that helps and doesn’t summon too many MM haters. xD
It would be amazing if you could bring back the Grenth Hood AND the Phantom’s Hood!
I would be very happy if these were available once again
I second this! These are fantastic items that a lot of people missed out on because of the holidays.
:D
