Fix old content and make it better. Stop spamming “new content” that is boring, rehashed and filled with bugs.

**How can some of you people say “NEW CONTENT”?! Are you all below 90 IQ? You saw how lame Halloween and Lost Shores was, so please tell me how adding more of that crap is going to attract new players? LOL!

You people are the reason ANET is still hemorrhaging new content as well as players that leave this game. Quantity does not make the game good. Get it through your heads plz.

What? A good idea? No, lets not do that and re-use old content like a smart company. Instead lets pump out new, buggy content every month in hopes it will hook-in some poor, inferior player.

But +1 for your ideas and it should of been in the game a month after launch. I agree for hard mode, this game gets boring fast.

The whole fractals implementation was awful from the start. Great idea, but poorly planned. Disconnecting and unable to receive credit or advancement, etc… So silly.

Also making it so you NEED to do the previous fractal before you can go on to the next was a dumb idea. Just make it so anyone can do any fractal level but its a gear check. ie, cannot get into FoTM 10 without having all exotics + runes. Or you could, but group will kick you. That way alts can still be brought through by really good players.

But first, fix the DC’s so fractals is playable.

Somebody please make the OP the director of ANET. Right meow.

Everyone with half a brain would agree to all your points but ANET seems to think that they’re not important. Somehow content spam will push people to the cash shop…which somehow means more money for them???? There will be nobody left in this game to pay for your cash shop.

Game is easy as is, its just boring and there’s not enough incentive to play. Players also feel punished for putting time into the game after spending money to play it. So why would anyone keep playing?

Dude has a valid point that nobody wants to admit to… Hmm, what else is new in the GW2 community?

Game is dying partially because there are no #(%#!_@#! roles. You don’t FEEL beefy, you don’t FEEL like a heal savior, you just pick your flavour of damage… which…ultimately….gets… boring…

Seriously people, wake the #$*& up, this game needs an aggro/tank system of some kind cuz as it stands now combat is boring without someone being the big beefy tank and grappling with the big boss. ANET says they want you to play w/e you want, but if you want to play a tank or healer YOU CAN’T. If you do, you’re 0 help to you’re team. The only option is to be a semi support that maintains constant buffs. Which btw, is extremely boring to play as you’re not popping your 10 min CD ultimate heal to save someone at the last second. Which is where the fun comes in for healers.

But hey, what do I know? Running around like a chicken with your head cut off is totally fun, right? Five people waddling around aimlessly in boss fights and everyone gets doodied on equally. What a novel idea! Totally revolutionizes the MMO genre, hoozah!

Lol, form mod just deleted my post on supporting Meret’s statement. GG Anet, wasting time with forum mods who delete threads in posts that don’t need deleting.

Drkn, you clearly again, did not ready what I’m saying. The game was designed for puggers who wanted something that “was different from WoW & other MMO’s”. The reason people come under-geared to dungeons is simply because they don’t know any better. There’s nothing to stop them from going in and we can’t really inspect them and check. Thus, you have to find out who the weakest link is the hard way.

Uniforming the tokens is fine but as I said you have to make it so people obviously don’t go to just 1 dungeon and farm it over and over because its fastest. You’d have to do it like WoW does with the random dungeon groups so people use the LFG system and que for a “random” one. Upon doing that you get “bonus tokens/loot” so there’s no reason to ever just farm a fast dungeon over and over.

But in general, they still need LFG system regardless. It needs to be cross server and it needs to happen soon. Game is going to die in a few months otherwise.

You clearly didn’t read the post.

Yes, you can bring “stun breakers” and “stability”. But you cannot keep it up infinitely. Thus, you get “chain stunned” most of the time by bosses + mobs.

Tell me how I’m supposed to get stability on Necromancer? I have a small amount of stun breakers that aren’t that great in group play and a trait 30 points deep into my most useless tree.

Thanks for that though. Its not fine btw. No, you cannot run 90% of the content.

Go play any other MMO RPG and find that they have diminishing returns as well as anti-knock down.

Explorable mode dungeons are extremely hard, and take considerable amounts of time and player skill to finish. You can’t really pug them, hence why a LFG tool is redudant and won’t be implemented.

They said they’re working on changing explorable mode dungeons which makes sense. Making a “pug friendly game” not pug friendly was what they did. So they’re working on changing that (apparently).

But once that’s done, the same problem will stare them in the face: LFG Spam in chat.

Nhemin.1520

Like in Fractals “swamp level”, they’re not fun. Its annoying and frustrating losing control of your character over and over. 5 seconds of stability does not help.

For those of you that say “run ‘x’ build with ‘x’ class” how bout the game was “supposed” to be designed with the idea of running with lots of different specs/builds. As well when you pug groups, you don’t always get the luxury of forming the perfect builds. People don’t like changing their DPS build just because you want them to bring 1 anti-knock down skill. Players are quite stubborn that way and GW2 encouraged it by saying they want you to play with your “favourite build”.

Currently GW2 Team thinking seems to be something like this:

“Lets make dungeons have knock-downs/cc so it takes longer for you to do so you don’t get sick of the game as fast by rushing through it.”

… Except for the fact that lots of people are getting sick of the game because of this.

Srsly, how does it work? I’ve been playing this game for awhile now and it appears to be completely random. Tanky Guardians + Wars and a few other classes can hold boss mobs for awhile but then they “randomly” switch and 1 shot the other 3-4 DPS classes…. Which is stupid.

There’s really no point in ever playing “glass cannon” builds in dungeons as you’ll just get wrecked by the boss. I see people trying to go DPS all the time and it never works.

Can we get GW2 Team post on this please? Or someone link me to forum post about Mob AI aggro.

this was the arbitrary gating mechanic we complained about before release. It has turned out to be as annoying and unnecessarily restrictive as we pointed out.

^ This.

GW2 Team needs to change the way FoTM works… Now. As a casual player its not very “pug friendly” as it requires some skill and coordination. I can survive just fine, but other people are the problem.

But as you say, the main issue is needing to always be on the same fractal level as everyone else. Currently I’m geared to get into Level 10+ fractals but can’t because I’m stuck to level 1 with all the people < lvl 80.

IMO, copy WoW again on their good parts. Implement a Gear Level requirement. That way people with bad gear can’t get into the higher level fractals. As well, people who have a lot of spare gear to use for their alts can catch up with guildies/friends in FoTM levels 5+.

Srsly though, how did GW2 Team not see “common denominator FoTM lvl” being an issue?

You NEED one. Period. How you thought it was okay to come out with a game in 2012 without one is beyond me. Get with the times. From what I hear you’re “Group Finder” system is going to be sub-par as well.

There are 2 things you need to do to keep people playing and draw in new players for dungeons specifically:

1) Create an LFG system very similar to WoW’s (equal or better). Make it so you can find people for Dungeons to start and then slowly work on adding other things to party for (like story mode dungeons and certain world bosses). Make it cross-server as well so people on low-pop servers still feel like playing the game 2 months from now. This will also create 24/7 play so there’s things to do for some of us late-night gamers.

2) Make all the “tokens” 1 type. That’s right, do it WoW style. I have no idea why you guys decided to be different than them here, there’s no reason. You wasted precious resources and coding time making separate tokens for each explorable dungeon when you could of just made 1. The trick is that you need to reward “bonus tokens” for doing random dungeons using the LFG system. This is what prevents players from running CoF path 1-2 over and over again and encourages them to meet new people cross-server. Do it.

Does the game work right now for dungeons? Yes, but its in the dark ages of Everquest. Nobody wants to sit in Lions Arch spamming “LFG FoTM Level x” all day. Also, all your other dungeons died because players can’t get parties unless they’re in a huge active guild. Getting into Story Mode is even harder. Nobody plays story mode anymore so I can’t get my “Zaitan kill” now. Thnx.

You make a game for casual players and then make the game not “casual friendly”. Dungeons are kind of the main attraction at level 80 aside from farming legendary materials. That or PvP.

Get it together GW Team. Your last patch was a big step in the right direction, but you’re still far from making a “complete” MMO RPG.

In essence, there’s just too much of it in the game, both for PvP and PvE. Currently right now you can be interrupted by certain abilities, knocked down, dazed, pulled, pushed, immobilized, blown up, etc. But even with a stability skill, its not enough to feel like I have control of my character at some point during fights. Also, you only have 2 dodges (mostly) and those usually need to be saved for killer moves/combos on boss fights or in PvP.

I seriously have times where I lose control of my character from 100% health to dead because I get chained stunned. This mostly happens in PvP though. In PvE it “can” happen, but its a lot less likely to occur as you can usually see it coming and time it. But still, sometimes even after you’ve dodged in PvE and get that feeling of “Awe yeah! I did it!” you just get knocked down by some other ability (multiple centaur tramples or most mobs in Orr). CoF end boss in Path 1 comes to mind as well with all his crystals falling from the ceiling.

GW2 Team, you have to fix this or people will continue to leave your game. Think of it this way, losing control of your character isn’t fun. In fact it is like a “resistance” to fun. I play the game to have fun and am controlling my avatar in a virtual world. I want to be able to attack, dodge, block, cast spells and do “cool” stuff. Getting knocked down once in awhile cuz I misplaced a dodge or my stability skill is on cool down is fine, but getting perma/chain knocked down is just plain annoying.

Also, not every class gets a stability skills (necro) and not everyone wants to feel like they have to bring it on their skill bar as a crutch.

This isn’t a plea to get rid of knock down, its to find another way around preventing chain stuns and massive loss of character control. Most likely diminishing returns on stuns/cc are going to have implemented. Which would still work because the stability skills usually have decent sized cool downs.

Just remember though, nobody likes to play a game where they can’t control their avatar. Please keep that in mind, thank you.

Now I’ll receive your “L2P noob!” comments. <3

or better yet, play Guild Wars 1 and remember why u advertised GW2 the same.

This.

Guild Wars 2 takes everything you love about Guild Wars 1… Sadly, it doesn’t. It takes everything I didn’t love about other MMORPGs and puts it into GW2.

Another guy who gets it. Thank you. I feel better about life now.

@ the other pplz however:

Its not the graphics that I’m being hypocritical about. Yes, the graphics are awesome, but the layout was poorly designed. Those are 2 very different things. The game looks “cool” but lacks common sense in its overall design. As you’ve maybe noticed in this post alone, people noticed that GW2 is failing to be what it claimed; a better, different, more in-depth MMORPG.

PvP is just a joke flat out. I don’t know where you people get off saying its still just an “L2P issue”. Probably because you don’t play PvP I’d imagine.

I also meant for the game needs to have the defensive option for point holding. Right now you get the most points by killing other players and maybe quickly uncapping. Thieves in particular are good at this, same with ele’s and mesmers. Being the guy that’s literally trying to hold the line and wasting 5 mins guarding 1 point gets nothing.

Basically it comes down to the fact that your time invested in this game does not feel very rewarding. And again, tPvP isn’t all that popular because as a casual you don’t want to play against the guild premade that’s going to stomp you because they can coordinate.

I have no clue how so many of you are so blind. =.=

sadly what?
if i buy something and i get something other or even if this is changed, its called deceptive advertising where i live…. and its illegal….

So why should we be “sad” ?

Also they are doing something against the major part of the community for some reason that for sure is not “rewarding players” and its not either to cather more sales…

I would bet to reduce server costs by having a huge part of the community to leave….

Did you know Google takes a cheap kitten servers, puts them in boxes in a warehouse and just drops the temperature? It costs them next to nothing, granted they don’t have to go to extremes in processing. But the idea still stands.

You’d think other people would start getting a clue on how to run “affordable servers”.

PS: I totally agree with you. I feel bad for all the friends I dragged with me onto this game. </3

Out of 50+ people I was playing with be it guildies, friends, etc, there’s only me and one other guy left and we log in a few times a week now.

So, um. I don’t have to get to the end of the third sentence before we get to the lovable basket of kittens, and the first and second weren’t very long at all. I mean, come on, the conversation system isn’t simple?

Step 1: Click the NPC.
Step 2: Click the buttons.
TALKING COMPLETE.

Buying things isn’t simple?
Step 1: Click the NPC.
Step 2: Double click on what you want.
BUYING COMPLETE.

I know you criticise the game because you love it, but this is just ridiculous. Get a grip.

Its not the step tha’ts the issue, its the actual overall graphics/placement of the thing. It looks kitten and out of place. Generally people read more in the center of the screen as opposed to the top. Or even to the left so I can see whats going on in the center of my screen.

The layout in general is just horrid. It defies everything anyone will ever teach you about picture/text placement in school or the real world.

As well, the actual buying/selling of items is stupid tiny in images/text. There are so many better and more innovative ways to go about this.

Taking it a step further, where are my options to see player health bars ON my screen not on the top left. And how come I can’t see cast bars, etc, so I know when to place my stuns? Sure, in WvW that wouldn’t work, but for the other PvP modes (and even PvE) its nice to be able to time things.

But again, I guess you wouldn’t understand because you don’t see the overall issue here.

Game’s clearly fine, keep watching baseball bro.

It’s a very good post OP but frankly I don’t think that ArenaNet cares anymore. At least, that’s what the complete lack of feedback and the discustingly stock responses imply.

This whole “on popular demand” is just a facet. There are several “popular demands” here and on the Suggestions section that get several threads all day every day, many of them ending up on the last page without as much as “we disagree with this”, “this is a good idea” or “we will talk about it”.

I don’t think that there is a realistic possibility that they will take any suggestion seriously that doesn’t just augment their own ideas but implies that an existing system is wrong. They can’t. It’s a combination of rights, ego, and fear of the supporter asking a reward for his idea.

And sadly if it goes on, many of them will lose their jobs, if they haven’t already because nobody is spending money in the cash-shop or buying expansions.

Again, small childish hope that one of the mods/admins will see and forward something to their team.

If not, then I hope it was enough to give a couple of their employees a dreading feeling about the longevity of their positions.

Also, drive the nail in the stubbourn, happy-go-lucky fan-boy’s head that this game is going nowhere if they keep posting THIS GAME IS AWESOME I LOVE IT!

Take this Friday off, go grab some brewkii’s, sit down and play League of Legends, play Dota1 and 2, play Starcraft 1 and 2, play Diablo 2 (not 3), play Halo 1,2,3, play Nox (old Westwood game from ’98), play WoW, play Legend of Zelda, play Demon/Dark Souls, play all other games that were FUN, SIMPLE, and FUNCTIONAL.

I know this is going to sound old but since you’re mentioning Wow (and I will only refer to Wow since it’s the only game in the same category as GW2) and saying it WAS fun, simple and functional, do you mean by that they should inspired on a I don’t know BC expansion? And further more, has Wow pvp stopped being fun? Cause aside from the class revamps the concept is exactly the same it was for years.

And besides Demon/Dark Souls isn’t fun to everyone, you should know that by now. You just throw so many random games in the pot there that it’s hard to understand your concept of fun, simple and functional. I do for instance like D/Dark souls but I do not think it’s simple and even less functional.

In short:

sPvp is pretty much what every other game is with less maps. I know you’re going to debate this but to me it really is. Bursty with people not giving a kitten about objectives. Sounds like every other mmo at some point to me.

WvW is a massive zerg for me. I understand several folks enjoy it and that’s fine, but to me it’s too zergy and individuals don’t count as much.

I didn’t try tournaments yet so I’m going to abstain from commenting.

But on the other hand you’re criticizing the game and not giving any ideas and still dare to say you need to be vocal. If you can’t see the metaphor here , god have mercy on your soul.

Okay, I think you’re on the right track too. I know that I throw a lot out there, but that’s because there’s so much for the GW2 team to look at as reference material for their game.

In regards to PvP, see my above replies. But yes, most times it will be zergfest, omgletsgetkills. But if they were smart about the changes they could at least “tone it down”.

Adding a mechanic similar to League of Legends, Dominion Mode would be nice for starters in sPvP or tPvP.

Example:
For every 10 seconds you are on the point, you get 2 points or something. If you die defending the point you get a “martyr” bonus (+10 glory) or something. The idea is to encourage different roles rather than just go uncap/cap everything or, if you’re a thief/ele, kill everything in sight.

This way there’s more role diversity now in the game and its not jut about glass cannons and kills. Yes, you can do that, but even if you are a glass cannon you’re encouraged to go defend points as you’ll get rewarded.

No, there will be no turtling as every objective map has odd numbers for points, so you always have to move around to win.

As much as I would like to flame posts like this….. You do make a very good point….

But to just bash ArenaNet isn’t right, every MMO developer should be blamed for making these bad MMO’s….

I got tricked into liking GW2 somehow, I didn’t even look at it some months ago, but then it caught my eyes and I made the mistake of hyping the game, just to be let down pretty fast……. cause it’s just another MMO with some minor changes….

Don’t think any developer will change this though….. They don’t seem to play other non-MMO games at all….

I totally feel the same way. Despite my doubts, I still have this childish glimmer of hope for this game…. Somehow. Part of it definitely is that my characters could look cool given a weeks time to farm materials….

Then I realize I’ve completed the game and go “now wut?”.

If they could seriously sit down and fix their PvP in every aspect, people would have something to do after they get bored of PvE. As for fixing PvE… well, I’d suggest Hard Modes in dungeons for ascended gear and cooler dynamic events/world bosses as the dragon guys at level 40-60 were boring.

i like OP point. GW2 combat system just boring. I lack the feeling of doing something cool when i’m fighting. What are all those skills that gives you like 30% damage reduction or either 30% damage bonus for like 5 seconds with 1 minute cool down? I want 90% reduction or over 9000% damage bonus. I want that cool feeling when i’m killing someone with my ultimate cool skill or dodging someone’s ultimate skill not just rolling around like wounded raccoon pressing my boring 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-0 skills on they huge cooldowns.

Finally, someone else who gets it.

Dude, I totally feel you. I understand where GW2 was coming from with the simplified skill bar and all, but its just boring and unoriginal. The game virtually plays itself for me and I don’t really have much option for doing crazy combos. Having a built in combo system that requires u to consecutively hit the same target 3-4 times doesn’t work. Its boring, and there’s no point as everyone can just evade, dodge, block.

When I don’t feel like I have any control in combat or that I can sit down for an hour and just kitten face like I’ve done in other MMO’s. I feel the game doesn’t reward player skill as much as other games and its simplified in all the wrong ways.

Koodo’s though GW2 Team for the collectable deposit. That was about the only simple, innovative thing you got right. =\

The only thing to do at max level once you’ve gotten all the gear/items is to do PvP…. Which currently blows at the moment…

What has Simplicity and Functionality has to do with this?

I think most people who are most passionate about GW2 are those who want to get away from other MMOs.

Only to come to another MMO that again, is in essence, the same thing with “cool flavouring” on it.

For the game to be “different” from other MMO’s, Gw2 team needs to get their heads straight and simplify all the crap they tried to be innovative with… Which clearly didn’t work out. Simplicity and functionality are everything in successful, FUN, games. Unless you’re telling that is not what you’re wanting?

Put it this way, game needs to change in a lot of ways and unless we the player base speak up, its just going to be another niche MMO with 1200 people playing across 3 servers. I’d like to not see one of my favourite games go down that path.

But keep being blindly passionate bro. thumbs up

The game looks “pretty”… That about sums it up. The game wasn’t very simple or functional. Everything from talking to NPC’s, buying items at the shop, crafting and cut-scenes seems to just be an attempt to be “different” from other MMO’s…. But that alone doesn’t make your game awesome nor epic.

Your PvP system is also a huge mess, as its too “shot-gunny”. I feel like I can’t control my character 90% of the time cuz I’m either getting 2 shot or being chain knocked down. Did you guys even PLAY other games before making this game? As well you’ve split your PvP up into 3 completely different games. SPvP is a zerg fest where defenders don’t get rewarded at all, tPvP is so “niche” heavy for builds it makes me sick, and WvW gives me an upset stomach just thinking about it.

Well in pve w/o buffs, my thief has 2952 atk, 42% crit w/ 57% bonus crit dmg, 2811 armor and 14955 HP. Everyone I ask calls me crazy for going with balance, it’s like the majority of the community can’t fathom playing something other than a glass cannon or a bunker. The ones who do try to balance their stats in spvp don’t have the option because the gear isn’t available. Yes, I know people will say that it allows glass cannons to do more damage, but it also allows you the flexibility to have more defense and a broader range of stats instead of being ‘pigeonholed’ (as some people put it) into one of those amulets.

(/rage)Also, am I the only one that wishes they would change the pvp knights Vitality back to toughness? Knight’s is a great way to give yourself armor without having to give up too much offense, but if you use it in spvp, you’re leaving yourself with base toughness unless you use a crappy jewel for 125(which doesn’t help much with all the glass cannons running around) (/end rage)

^ This guy gets it.

Dota, LoL, SC2, WoW PvP is fun beyond just holy trinity. Its based on the feeling that you are doing something, whether its being a tank holding a point from 4 people, healing and supporting, or roaming and ganking. The point is that you get to CHOOSE and pick your play style based off your class AND get to feel PROGRESS.

Right now PvP feels like a zergfest/rock paper scissors. As well its split up between 3 games as ppl have stated. In order to make it better, you need to keep a closer “eye” on things. In order to do that you have to specialize and break it down. Right now there are a lot of things that just do not work for PvP that work well in PvE.

I suggest you listen to your community Anet, they’re the ones paying the bills for u.

Overall there needs to be a little bit more diversity in the game. I feel right now that the game is too “shotgun” in pvp. Its either you build your character to be a really, really squishy glass cannon that takes someone down in 2 shots or a impossible to kill tank (mainly guardian does this).

I feel that having the rest of the accessory/ring slots unlocked would allow people to specialize even further or even balance themselves out more. I know when I play thief that I tend to want to not be so squishy, that I want to make up for my high crit/damage with some vitality/toughness.

Likewise on my guardian I’d like to make up for my lack of offense in some gear as I’m mostly rolling tank/support in PvP to help cap and hold points.

I know most people will cry and say “now thief/mes/ele will only do MORE dmg”, but I disagree. I believe giving people more options allows for the rest of us to balance out our builds. It also lets people do more interesting builds as well that you don’t see much.

Dude wtf are you talking about? Do you even PLAY THIS GAME?!

Map size is already questionably big with 4 different maps to play, thus spreading the player base thin. Making us WALK across a bigger map does not help. Its not the maps/strats that’s the issue as that’s for the players to utilize as they please.

The problem is the reward system vs time sink into WvW. You spend hours and get very little in terms of loot/gold/badges. Grats on your karma and exp bro, but that’s about all you’re getting…. Assuming you take a fort/keep which takes forever.

Flappy

I literally put down this game after a month of playing 8v8 and 5v5. I’m done with Necro PvP until they fix it. Having to run only 1 build ever in a game that promotes “build diversity” just so you can somewhat counter 1 thief is kitten

Keep hating the player not the game cuz sadly most of you kitten in these posts are still in “Guild Wars 2 is the best MMO evar!” mode.

Re-roll thief till they nerf them and get mad glory/RP.

Diminishing returns on stuns/knockbacks/dazes are needed.

Oh kitten, OP tactics like stun locks for wars, guardians and thieves are being noticed? QUICK BASH THIS GUY AND HIS ANTI STUN CAMPAIGN!

I play necro and its kittening stupid. You have nothing to get your endurance back, your skills that break stun suck balls, and you have to spend 30 points in soul reaping to see ANY stability (aside from an elite skill which is kitten .

Honestly, you ever wonder why other MMO’s have diminishing returns on CC? Take a guess kids.

TLDR: Chain stuns are kitten OP, ANET has to bring in diminishing returns or people are just going to quit.
