LOL
I go there for kitten and giggles and I see 3 posts from John Peters in the necro forums on the FIRST PAGE
I remember that thread, and it was cute, but its different with rangers.
Necros are just as neglected as us, yes, and as ignored as us yes,
but rangers are straight up ABUSED by the devs.
You don’t send that uncle that beat you a cake
You report him to the police and stay the **** away.
That’s how I feel about ANet right now.
Oh
Did the other children get a response and you didn’t? Here, have a cookie.
Seriously, we got enough response for now, they said they are working on the bugs and that is fine for now. Complains about posts in the forum are not helping. In fact, if they were only takign care of the forums they couldn’t fix anything.
get over it.
Oh you’re one of those guys who loves his blissful ignorance and eats up everything he’s told, right?
Seriously, the response is just candy handed out to satisfy you. The reds have had MULTIPLE chances to comment on this bug and have avoided it, 100g says this is NOT a bug they are planning to fix.
I just want to know why, fully support the OP here
I don’t really know what you guys are going on about, the sword auto attack is amazing. It has quite a high skill cap, so I’ll just assume that’s why everyone keeps complaining. You can close gaps, with the third attack, you can cripple them forever… You guys might have missed the fact auto attacking can be turned off (or the fact you can use ESC to cancel an animation). That, and not targetting anything will allow you to use the third attack for both gapclosing and escaping. Combine all of these facts and – while it might take you some time to get used to it, let alone hit the ceiling – you will be able to dart around the field unlike any other class.
This.
The DEVs have stated their stance on Sword 1. Learn to use it, or don’t use it, but don’t complain about it anymore.
The anger the OP has is completely justified. I remember a John Peters post saying he doesn’t mind the anger, because it shows the passion and feelings that certain changes are eliciting.
So we should show ANet how mad we are! STILL!
It leaves such a bad taste in my mouth… another poster above said it best… “deafening silence on the issue”
Yeah that’s exactly the problem. Why can’t they just come out and say it? They have this thread all nice and to the point for them.
They don’t even have the decency to mod the title to correct “Straight” heh, I guess it’d prove they read the thread and this way they can claim ignorance.
Thieves have NO access to stability in their kit while performing any COMBOS. They are also squishy and NOT immune to damage while in stealth.
Maybe the numbers need toning, but their IS counterplay to thieves available (Moreso when rendering is fixed obviously)
Wow, I’m pleasantly surprised to see more people in favor of the OP than not in this thread.
Finally a safe have for those of us who appreciate the Ranger and love our pets!
I personally never used short bow in the first place. I posted a build awhile back with Sword/Axe and Axe/Warhorn as my weapon sets, and I still love it. Whirling defense is such an amazing skill. Whirl finisher, VULNERABILITY, AND did I mention in reflects projectiles?
Don’t overlook this offhand it can be extremely useful in the right hands. Some people think Axe 4 is meh but it is our only TRUE projectile finisher (maybe dagger 5 is too, dunno) and can be thrown through fields for a double application of Burning, Chill, Regen, etc.
Disclaimer:
I haven’t run this build yet. I hit 80 about a week ago and have been farming up for Exotics. Problem is I wanted to choose my build FIRST so I could tailor my gear to my build. And I didn’t want the simple glass cannon berserker set where’s its easy to itemize (Power! Precision! Crit Damage!) The reason this is not in the sticky thread is because its not my “build” as in one I’ve run or am running but one I WANT to run and make work.
So please, give me your input and comments if you’ve run anything like this.
The Build
Goals:
-Primarily for use in Dungeons, explorable mode. I play with 3 other friends on Mumble and can co-ordinate well enough for combos.
-To be tanky. Like, 20k hp minimum tanky, then more for toughness. Dying is the most frustrating thing in dungeons to me, more so than the pleasure of 10k Rapid fire crits.
-To be in melee range to make better use of traps
-To have extreme burst. To have good single target burst for bosses and certain strats
-To have effective AoE
-To have good utility and combo ability for groups (Spirit of Renewal, healing spring)
Execution:
So, I like sword. Sure its got its bugs and you can fly off some crits and get stuck, but all in all I like it. I like its cripplem but most of all I love its free might buff for my pet+quickness. This is where the HUGE burst comes in:
Single Target Burst combo=Traps down-> Ax/WH 4+5, swap, Whirling Defense Vulnerability (Cat vulnerability), Pet swap, Sword 1 Combo for 15 Stacks of might on high precision pet (cat/bird). Add this in with Superior Sigil of Strength for a kitten ton of power/cond damage. Almost forgot about adding in Rampage at one, then it can just get lulzy, thought Spirit of Renewal will be taken for the most part,
AoE/Combo Fields= Fire, Ice, third utility slot is situational. Vipers nest is for most condition damage/heal reduction, Spike Trap is for better CC, maybe a signet of renewal if its called for. Axe mainhand does great “click and forget” bounce AoE.
Traits:
This is one of the areas I’m looking for help.
Skirmishing I is a no brainer, so is the Grandmaster trait. But right now I have Honed Axes for better AoE damage or if i should even bother. Other candidates are Carniverous Apetite for pet sustain, Trapper’s Experise (which I’m meh about since I’ll be in melee range with Sword to set them anyway), or Companion’s Might. Yes I know the might lasts only ONE second, but with so many crits from WH 4 and quickness, it would make my pet REALLY hurt, like 5-6k crits hurt (random baseless numbers btw).
For the Wilderness try I like the improved condition damage trait for Lynx/Eagle. Does anyone know the numbers/viability on that triat? Also the off-hand training is a no brainer, but INSTEAD of going 10 more points for a (IMO) useless minor trait and so-so grandmaster, I went 10 in Nature Magic for better regen and tankiness.
10 in BM is also non-negotiable. The quickness is too key to my burst and the might swap (taking II when doing regular map stuff) is just integral with my playstyle.
Stat priority
This one… well I’m pretty lost. I think I want at least 20k hp before I start stacking toughness. Then I’m thinking… Rampager’s (Precision for Sigil of Strength synergy, Cond damage, Toughness) set? Or should I go more (forgot the name) Power+Vit+Cond damage? Also should I even bother with Crit damage? Maybe have some on my Jewelry/Amulet? With all the fury I can have I will be critting fairly often. Should I not bother with power at all and go straight for Precision/Crit? I don’t see any gear that has Vitality without power though.
Criticism and critiques please! I’ve run only glass cannon Longbow/Sbow (only recently switching to Sword/WH because of stats on the items) and need some help breakin free of the easy signet/Marks build!
