what race would you make playable?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Nuwen.8190

Why even limit it to a single race? I would actually like to see 2 or 3 races added in a single content release. Why not Tengu and Kodan? I personally would prefer Kodan, but I understand the player requests and interest in the Tengu as a player race as well.

Characters of color?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Nuwen.8190

Nuwen.8190

Generally not fond of the face options for Human male, so mainly I’ve played Asura and Charr. The notion of color applies differently to them, as I’m more likely to make a Charr that looks like my cat rather than try to create a Charr character of color.

Now, all that said, if ArenaNet released some additional faces for humans with features more suitable for a character of color I might make a human. I will say Protoavis did a really good job with the creation of their character though.

Edit: Went back and toyed around with character creation some more and found that my primary frustrations are derived from two sources: Eye color and lip color/tint.

Lips are generally a slightly lighter in tone than the rest of the skin, but with GW2 if you make a character dark skinned their lips are significantly lighter than everything else. This just throws the appearance off for me, and it irks me even if I’m staring at the back of my character’s head 99% of the time.

For the eyes, I’ve always lamented the lack of a simple dark brown eye color. I’m all for the option of exotic eye colors, but I wouldn’t mind good old dark brown.

Lips and eyes.

Fire Elemental is kinda... lame.

As soon as I summon the fire elemental I switch to water and start putting water fields on it. That is usually enough to keep it alive long enough for it dish out the hurt. I return to my usual rotation of elements, but as someone above said, the elementals are situational. In my zerker set I feel that the fire ele does more than enough damage to warrant its use. Combine its fire blast with your air or earth cc and you can really tear through things.

Moto - most unfeminine asura female

I haven’t seen a male Asura with more than 1 syllable to his name, except Oggy.

He also has small ears, which must be why he has such a feminine name. We all know that real Asura men have big floppy ears, it’s a sign of sexual prowess.

level 14 ele keeps dying a lot

in Elementalist

I know that given your level you won’t have access to some things mentioned below, but hopefully they will still be helpful for you eventually.

One useful thing about Mist form is that you can still swap attunements and use signets while it is up. So while you are getting out of a tight spot you can use a signet to heal or swap to earth (if you aren’t already in it) and summon and earth elemental to soak some damage for you.

I find elementals to be a great utility for staff users. Gives you a moment to focus your channeled aoe on targets.

Another great utility to use is lightning flash, not only for escapes or stun breaks, but setting up your aoe. You see it get mentioned for s/d or d/d churning earth users, but it’s great for staff as well. When starting up your channeled aoe like meteor shower or healing rain you can then lightning flash away during the channel to avoid standing there and taking it in the face. This allows you to use your staff aoe in a couple of ways.

You can drop damage on an area between/on top of a group of enemies charging you and then flash back behind them. They will about face and run back through the aoe and continue to take damage. Your aoe channel won’t be cut short so you get the full effect.

For healing you can place the aoe marker away from you and your attackers, start the channel and then flash to the center or far edge of the healing circle. So you put some space between you and your enemies as well as maintaining the healing without having to deal with constant damage.

The range on the flash is only 900, so going along with what Grundeg said, you want to keep on the move.

I really love staff, and after dropping it a long time for scepter/dagger, I have returned to using it 90% of the time…unless I am doing lots of roaming in wvw.

I mainly stay/start in air. Begin with static field immediately followed by gust to push them into the stun. Swap to earth for unsteady ground followed by eruption and then shockwave. Really trying to limit the mobility as much as possible. And if you target an enemy at the back of the mob with shockwave everything between you gets rooted as well.

The next swap is either to fire for the real damage dealing or to water first for a bit of healing and more mobility impairment. Beyond that its lots of positioning and crippling to keep your targets away from you and in your aoe circles.

For the times that you can’t help but have them on top of you, arcane shield or armor of earth are great in a pinch.

I hope at least some of that helps. If anything was overly obvious, I apologize. Good luck!

Much love for the staff.

asuran racials?

in Asura

I use the Power Suit during the Plinx event on Cursed Shores. Can’t let him hog all the glory of leading the small army there…

Would be neat if the suit either gave a substantial HP buff or had a similar HP shield as the necromancer’s death shroud. Don’t necessarily want it to be considered ‘op’ but also prefer it not to be a metal coffin you are riding in XD

But as Mif has stated, mainly a style kind of elite. You can show it off in situations where you feel there is little to no danger…or be bold and charge a WvW zerg while wearing it!

Siege power please…

What dyes do you use on your T3 armor?

I’m currently using Abyss, Celestial, and Antique Bronze. I like how the gauntlet/arm piece still has the ‘glow’ even when you use a dark color as your main chest piece color.

Are we talking a ‘holstered’ staff? Or just the staff in general clipping the head regardless of positioning?

Rate the Asura Name Above You!

I really like the common use of the repeating letters in the names of Asura, but it’s not required. Just think of characters like Teyo. Anyways, I like Lukrya (although I would like to know how you pronounce it to see if I am right, heh) I think it fits well with the tendency of Asura names to have atypical spelling.

For me there is my Elementist, Krewe Master Surah. Occasionally you might see him moonlighting as Peacemaker Surah.

Arah is never open

I think finding an active dungeon guild(s) is great, but I believe it can be even better to find a small group of people with the same current goal(s) as you. I’m on TC as well, working on Map comp. at the moment, but I’d be willing to help you clear out the WP and run Arah. Aside from that, definitely interested in running some of the other dungeons as well.

Hit me up in game, and if I’m not in WvW I’ll try to help out.

Here’s Krewe Master Surah. Deciding against full T3, as I’m not sure yet if I want the headpiece. Mostly likely will add T3 gloves and legs though!

I’m interested in joining the guild as well. “Krewe Master Surah” is the name. Was mainly playing on Tarnished Coast, though on Blackgate at the moment playing with some friends. I’ll be back on TC before long.
