Hello there!
Recently got a magi weapon box. I love the skin and would love to use it. However, I am not sure how to. I mostly use WvW.
Would a healing guardian be of any use to people in WvW? Are there any builds for such a thing?
Thank you!
Hello there!
I usually run my Ele in WvW. Last night, I got an ascended weapon box drop, with magi gear. I would love to actually make use of this, because I love the skin and it’s ascended.
But I don’t know if I could do any good with magi stats.
Is there any build that proves me wrong? Is there any build that would be more helpful than your standard staff ele build in WvW?
Thank you!

First of all, this is off-topic for this sub-forum.
Second of all, what a pathetic thing to advertise.
Ain’t no party like a “let’s make sure this thread doesn’t die” party!
OP post has been updated because it was old!
Hello there!
I am very interested in Ele roaming. However, I don’t know if I want to necessarily wait 30 days to create celestial gear. Are there any viable roaming builds that don’t focus on celestial gear?
Thank you!
It’s dangerous to go alone, Marjory.
Oh, and if you need specific moments and for some reason the annotations fail:

I was rather… surprised by how much fantastic info Anet threw at us this episode, so I recorded it for myself so I wouldn’t have to go back constantly to look it up.

Just going to go ahead and bring this up to the top.
Thank you both so much! Would you say traveler’s runes are worth the DPS drop? I am not sure about the lack of swiftness
What might the meta mesmer roaming builds be? And would they necessarily change with the upcoming mesmer changes?
Thank you!
Hello there! Heroes of Tyria’s Return [HoTR] of Darkhaven is currently looking to recruit WvW players. We are looking for quality personalities, not quantity, although if you aren’t “top tier player NA gg” quality or if you’ve not done WvW at all ever, that’s just fine. We all have to start somewhere.
Our focus, as a guild, has always been on all aspects of Guild Wars 2, from PvE to PvP to WvW. However, the guild is looking to broaden our havoc squad status within Darkhaven’s expanding WvW community a bit more than it currently is. So if you are tired of being merely a faceless member of a zerg, and want to truly make a difference both in a guild and to your server, feel free to send us a private message or reply.
Here are our requirements:
1.) Have a sense of humor, and the ability to make fun of people and yourself. We talk like sailors pretty much constantly. Don’t worry, you get used to it. If not, there are support groups for that.
2.) Plan to be active for your own sake. We have no activity requirements, but we are on daily, so you would be missing out if you chose not to come along. The bigger the group, the bigger the havoc we can create.
3.) Voice chat. We have TeamSpeak3, and would love to hear your super-sexy voice. Plus it helps with organization or whatever I guess. We don’t mind accents. We have several who sound straight from the movie “Fargo”. Or just listen in, we’ll try and keep the heavy breathing to a minimal. Also, if you’ve ever been on the Darkhaven Teamspeak, we are on there often as well. So feel free to say hello!
4.) 18+. While we have no issue with young people, as a few of us have children of our own, we don’t want to scar anyone. Well, not enough to cause serious damage. None of us would do well in jail.
5.) We do other aspects of Guild Wars 2, of course. Need a dungeon run? Just say so! Feel like PvPing? We’re always up for training, and have very dedicated people who always enjoy a good duel.
6.) No required class or level. You be you.
We are a cozy community – By which I mean there is quality not quantity, as was stated. You will very rarely find an empty guild chat, or TS3. We aren’t looking for a full guild list. The idea is to ultimately get to know you, because you are undoubtedly worth knowing.

You take this game way too seriously
Thanks for that captain but you didn’t answer my question.
Alright.
Probably normal conditions. By which I mean the conditions of the warrior having full adrenaline and the condition of you not doing anything while the warrior sits still for nearly 2 seconds and fires a straight shot at you.
“Captain”.
Edit: Likewise, aside from the fact that dying to Kill Shot is laughable, your message history has a lot of warrior-hate. And yet you claim to be “not exactly familiar with the warrior.” Maybe do some research next time.
(edited by OptimistPrime.9283)
I’ve attached a pic of me getting hit for a 11.5k damage in wvw by a warrior. As if they weren’t strong enough in melee range and their defense wasn’t good enough, it seems that now they are capable of destruction from afar as well. But nooooo Arena-Net, warriors aren’t overpowered, better nerf those pesky thieves instead.
I could be wrong though. I am not exactly familiar with the warrior so can someone tell me if this attack was a really lucky, or certain conditions were met to hit me that hard or what?
Thanks in advance!
He used kill shot.
It’s called kill shot.
And is easily avoided.
Hello there!
I am very new to dungeon soloing, and have watched a few videos, and it constantly seems that I am doing a pitiful amount of damage comparatively, (especially on hundred blades).
Compared to scholar runes, would strength runes make a huge amount of difference? (A couple thousand damage per second, I would say) or is it simply inexperience? Because inexperience can be fixed. 83g cannot, easily. Haha
Edit: I ask primarily because I heard scholar is better for group play, which I do far more often than solo, so I worry it would be a waste of money in group play.

I have the perfect compromise idea. A gem store costume that makes you look like you are riding a mount. It will still be your legs running and your own profession’s speed boost. But the costume will look like you are riding a mount.
I sometimes wonder about the intelligence of the modern man.
And then I see kittening amazing suggestions like this and feel better. Haha
WvW roaming is no where like PvP, Hambow is not gonna work there, you need mobility since you already picked LB a slow weapon with no movement skills then picking hammer alongside it is a death sentence.
GS/Lb is viable.
This is exactly what I wanted to hear. Thank you.
I am currently working on Kudzu, as I adore the longbow on warrior. However, I am torn on whether or not to run a GS or hammer, and what build options there are for WvW.
I adore the mobility of the GS, and lean much more heavily to it. However, for PvP, hammer seems to be far more useful.
So I am curious of what builds are available, and what everyone’s opinions are! Thank you!
Run a champ train. Champ boxes will often have skill points in them. And if you throw on an exp booster and eat food with the exp boost, you’ll also level up more often, giving you more skill points.
Yeah, that is my usual go-to. Though I know QDale is no longer a thing. Is FrostTrain still viable? Or would my time be best spent in like EotM?
Hello there! I am working towards a legendary and I need 200 skill points. I am an idiot and didn’t plan this out ahead of time, so I have plenty of skill points divided between all of my characters, but the most skill points a single character has is 83.
So I am curious if there is a quick and reliable way to get a lot of skill points. I just wish I could combine them between characters. Sigh.
Thank you!

I am looking to try something different from the 3-Kit with Rabid gear. I love it, but I am just looking for options.
However, I have never been too much of a fan of extreme glassiness, especially for a class known for tankiness. So I am curious about what stats I should focus on as a power rifle build. If bers. is the way to go, then of course I will. I just worry about extreme glassiness.
3kit to hgh, you’re basically trading different types of damage + utility for higher damage and potentially more condi clear.
Interesting! Would you assume HGH would be capable of soloing a camp? I know I can with 3kit, but the HGH seems rather limited for multi-target capabilities.
literally any 80 build in rares or better can solo a camp
your efficiency depends more on guard stack trait lines and how many wvw infusions you havehgh in exotics is fine
why not try it out? i mean you have the gear and all you need to do is switch traits and utilities… yet here you are asking forum denizens :[
Oh, no, don’t get me wrong, I am definitely going to try it out. I am just at work at the moment, and if someone yelled “OH GOD DON’T DO IT” I wouldn’t have bothered.
But it looks like a good idea!

I usually roll rabid 3-kit builds, although I am very curious by the rabid HGH builds, particularly P/P, as I have never really rolled HGH before.
What is everyone’s opinions of these two builds? Are they vastly different? Is one more beneficial over the other?
I run Koroshi’s regen ranger often, and I like it a lot. Though it does not seem very viable, it is fun. Though I am curious if the patch changed much for the viability of ranger roaming in wvw?
I love my P/S for WvW, but I am curious if the update to sigils would make the rifle more viable. I highly doubt it would ever change for condi builds, but you never know.
With this new patch confusing much of the trait, ferocity, and WvW system, I am curious what everyone would rank as the most dominating of roaming classes, in general.
If there will even be much of a change at all.
Edit: And what I mean by WvW changes having an effect on roamers is the fact that, with combined WvW Ranks, more players will have the option for the WvW guard buffs. While not terribly dominating, it could have a small effect, possibly.
(edited by OptimistPrime.9283)
Apparently, at the moment, people are wondering if it is truly implemented as the numbers aren’t matching expectation
I doubt a meta is already set one hour after the patch went in. We still gotta tinker! :P
Ahah this is very true. Theory-crafting is just one of my favorite things about patch days.
I haven’t roamed on my Engie for quite a good deal of time. Now with the added traits, I am curious what the meta roaming build is currently?
Thank you!
each armor, including heavy, medium, and light for EACH race would have to work with the horse model, which does not exist.
I never once said they would have to redo armor.
?
I am not entirely sure what you are missing. I never said armor would be redone for the mount. The mount model, however, would have to work with every race’s armor (light, medium, and heavy) to avoid clipping, which is already an issue. (Look at Charr armor, for instance).
Not once did I state that any armor would have to be redone. Maybe you should squeeze a few language courses into your studies.
So, in other words, you said major work would need to be done on already completed armor models (read your own post)… Because I can tell you not only would armor not have to be ‘redone’, there would not need to be any work on any armor models at all.
I am honestly surprised you managed to write an Abraham Lincoln quote without misquoting him. Go back and read my post, which you so obviously love to bring attention to. Never do I say that armor needs to be edited. Quite the opposite, actually. What I was saying was that the mount model would have to reflect a wide variety of armor types. Making the mount work for each unedited armor type per race would be difficult to make aesthetically pleasing.
This has nothing to do with changing already existing armor, which you decided to fabricate in your first reply. (Go back and read the thread, as you advised me to do).
And if you are going to pretend you are literate enough to quote a historical leader, at least pretend you pulled your head out of the sand long enough to read my post as well, the next time you decide to misquote me.
And again arguing a semantical choice of words (on both your part for saying ‘armor’, and mine for saying ‘redo’) rather than actually defending what you said on the issue. Simple fact is, adding mounts would not require the work you claimed it would have, and you don’t know that because you don’t know anything concerning the subject at all.
This argument (the actual argument, not your nitpicking about vocabulary) can be solved simply. Explain the exact technical limitations which would prevent mounts from being added if you are able. If not, then you do not know what you are talking about, and as I said, should try actually addressing the subject in a context you are capable of instead of acting as if you know something you do not in order to protect your wounded pride and irrational hatred of the subject at hand.
This is a Ludicrous argument. Saying that " Unless you can state exactly what work is necessary to have mounts added to the game you cannot say how hard it would be to do."
You Know, I cannot say How to pilot a plane , from the Moment the doors are closed at one airport, until passangers are disembarked at their destination either. That doesn’t mean I cannot say that " Piloting a 777 is hard."
A player doesn’t have to be abl to state the exact steps needed to add mounts to say " adding mounts would be hard." But… adding mounts doesn’t have to be hard.
See this is another form of invalidating anti-mount arguments.
Since the devs have stated that it is NOT their intent to include ground mounts at this time, and since a LOT of the player base agrees with the devs. All we have to prove is… and PLEASE Pay attention:
" ADDING MOUNTS TO THE GAME IS HARDER THAN …NOT ADDING MOUNTS TO THE GAME."
Which is absurdly simple. If even one “Man-second” of work is required to add mounts it is harder than leaving the game exactly as it is.
Precisely. Excellent point

This was why I was actually very happy with the end of the Tower of Nightmares. I ran it quite a few times with my necro solo because it was so much easier not scaled. It also helped me hammer out my build from wells into a more focused damage. If they brought out more updates like that, and maybe even made it so regular dungeons would be soloed, that would be pretty cool. I would still vastly prefer playing with friends, but being able to get through CoE based entirely on my own merits sounds interesting nonetheless.
Oh, yes most definitely definitely. The single player content should never take away from group content, as I vastly prefer it too.
But just a single example of single player content, like you mentioned, could definitely be good for the community as a whole.
There isn’t a “LOLOKAY, HERE ARE MOUNTS” button. The creators would have to dedicated a lot of time to creating an entirely new model that each character race and size would work with. On top of that, each armor, including heavy, medium, and light for EACH race would have to work with the horse model, which does not exist.
It is time consuming for something that is not wanted by the majority of the community.
So, no.
You have no idea whatsoever how modeling and animation work do you?
They would not have redo any armor for mounts, they would just have to ‘marry’ the animation bones from one model to the other, not that difficult. In fact its even simpler in GW2 than it would be in most games because our animations are made to where the upper and lower body can run animations independent of each other.
But it’s not like that matters since 90% of the people in this thread are blind bandwagoneers who have made their decision based on peer-pressure and will not change it again for save for the same reason.
I never once said they would have to redo armor. Clearly you focused more on designing than you did reading.
This might sound very much against the standard MMO-esque pattern, but I personally believe GW2 could use slightly more single-player or small-group content. What I am picturing is a dungeon that tests the actions of a single player against a variety of mechanics. A dungeon with, perhaps, NPCs that help with healing or aggro. But mostly single player content that should be challenging.
This would help in the following ways:
A.) There is a stigma against the “bads”. The players who show up to Tequatl or Wurm without knowing what to do. The players have been able to get by with the “run with the group” mentality, as that is all that the living story has offered. And it has been fun. But trying to organize a large group of largely ignorant players has been a nightmare, which is why large groups try to secure overflows. With the upcoming changes to overflows, it is absolutely necessary to introduce mechanics to single players. This is where my idea comes in: have a dungeon that offers a taste of mechanics to come. The pugs get used to the mechanics, which means you can up the challenge in the actual living story without having a large complaint, as the option to “train” on these mechanics will exist, without the need to find a group.
B.) The player’s character means nothing. GW1 (excluding Nightfall because Kormir) made the player character feel useful, as it was all instanced. You could be a hero. In GW2, it is non-instanced largely. With the existence of new NPCs at the forefront of importance, as well as the overwhelming presence of Trahearne, the players feel less important to the story as a whole, and thus, cannot connect with it. With a single player dungeon, the opportunity for the players to MEAN something to the living story is presented. And it would be absolutely invaluable.
C.) A chance to explore the issues with classes on their own. If a certain class simply cannot do enough damage, alone, to complete the single-player dungeon, it is an obvious issue that means a lot for class balancing as a whole.
Just a general idea. I am curious what other people think!
tl;dr: Single player content could help teach new players hard boss mechanics, could make the character feel useful, and could show issues with class balancing.

So, no.
I am constantly crashing in zerg situations, which made the living story a headache, and is currently making the WvW tournament absolutely impossible. I crash probably roughly 2-3 times per night.
My computer handles all other games fantastically. I have never had this problem with any other game. I tried to uninstall and reinstall, as well as repair, and it has not helped in the slightest.
I am sensing that this is not an uncommon crash. Anyone have ANY solution?
