To the 3 GoM who decided to attack me in your JP, I hope it was worth three of your deaths.
Well this was an incredibly negative way to start a forum post. No pity for when you lose.
Twas your fault really, 4 hours and no match up post this week? You were slacking!
Just call me negatron.
I AM NO SUPERMAN. I HAVE NEEDS. D’:

How is that crying? I run into your zergging selves all night, I’ll still fight, I don’t give a crap. But don’t come in here and talk trash like you guys are so amazing. And numbers do matter. Good luck on the next tier when you go against people who have more then 10 in the zone at a time.
I don’t recall “talking crap” until after you did, first of all, and my “talking crap” was telling to to stop complaining, which you are. I simply quote a philosophical ideal, and am on a bandwaggon, apparently. Which I am fine with. But don’t plead innocence when you started it.
And of course numbers matter, but not to the extent in which you seem to believe it is. Especially for someone with the sig “Charge in vs many. Take one with me”. The top tiers aren’t defined by their zergs but by their tactics.
Get off the bandwagon buddy.
I am not your buddy, pal.
And while you are at it, please QQ some more.
I love how some people come in here and trash talk, Come to HoD then and you’ll see how it is. It’s real fun with 10 to 1 ratios, haha.
Good job server transfers, GG.

I adore how far civility has fallen on the forums since the first day DH/GoM/HoD matched up.
That isn’t sarcasm.
Niceness gets boring.
It isn’t a server issue. It’s an individual issue.
Get mad at those doing it, not any servers in particular.
Let’s have a good week, everyone.
AS A DRUNKEN DH, THIS WILL BE FUN.
I just want to give a little bow to the DH thief that I dueled with tonight on the HoD Borderlands. A teammate and I were watching him, he stealthed and jumped my ally, stomped him, and then him and I fought for what felt like forever, we both downed each other and I managed to win. He then party requested me simply to say that it was an amazing duel and hopes we meet again. That’s sportsmanship right there, and it was fun and I respect his skills.
Was the fight right next to a guard post, and are you an elementalist, and was he a Charr?
Yes indeed it was. In all honesty I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have won if the guard wasn’t there. He more than kept me on my toes.
Ahaha. Nah, you won fantastically, guard or no, and I was impressed. You definitely know how to control your movements, which is coming from a thief. I look forward to a rematch one day.

Funny moment with GoM choosing to chase DH back to their spawn. Didn’t exactly go too well. (Legendary defenders)
Definitely a fantastic matchup so far. But agreed, the corpse dancing is pretty unnecessary.
After they caught me afk…super mature.
Never said we weren’t doing it. Just said it should stop.
Nothing is wrong with stealth. People need to get better with handling it.
I’ll tell you other thieves the same thing I tell to every other class that QQs about being bursted down….get some toughness, glass cannons have no meaningful place in PvP.
I keep seeing this ridiculous thing posted in a counter argument from Pro thieves. Are you guys so blinkered that you think EVERY player who makes a negative comment about thieves is glass canon? Absolutely ALL my characters that I do any meaningful PvP with are toughness geared…why? Thieves. Especially in WvW, I’m still amazed at how much damage they can pump out.
My tank / bunker Mesmer took 18k damage from a thief yesterday who did BS -> HS spam in about the space of 4-5 seconds, balanced? “Well learn to dodge” you says, well I managed to doge one HS before he auto-homed back onto me with the final HS hitting for about 5.6k. Even managed to spike through the condition stacks I jammed on him. People are still complaining about thieves for a reason, honestly I would rather talk about another profession but when WvW / tPvP is riddled with thieves, it’s hard to avoid the topic.
I think the most annoying thing about thieves is how little amount of effort needs to be put into the profession to be decent enough at PvP to wreck a target in 5 seconds with 3-5 moves. I know the vast majority of thieves just mash the 2 button and think they are pro.
You honestly think it is little effort? That is complete ignorance.
Thieves require constant thinking, and situational awareness. Just because you think all we do is mash two, doesn’t mean you know anything about the class.
I personally use 9 out of 10 of my skills almost constantly. The only one I don’t use as often is Disabling Shot, and I really should use that more often.
And that is completely ignoring the fact that thieves have to be CONSTANTLY moving. A thief who isn’t moving is dying.
I’ll tell you other thieves the same thing I tell to every other class that QQs about being bursted down….get some toughness, glass cannons have no meaningful place in PvP.
We aren’t QQing.
Probably my favorite moment of this week was getting stuck in Redbriar after it was taken. Stealth running around Redbriar while being chased and avoiding attacks for a few minutes was pretty kitten fun. Haha
Making thieves semi-visable is absolutely moronic. People who want to “see” the stealth just aren’t working hard enough to prevent the stealth in the first place.
Knock us down, stun us, avoid actually getting hit by CaD.
Stealth is fine as it is. Players need to actually read their skills and combat it better. They don’t need a combat just handed to them.
You do realize we thieves still take damage while in stealth, right?
If you are randomly swinging your hammer around not thinking, that is your fault, not ours.
People need to learn to dodge CnD.
I find it easier to fight in zergs because there is always some noob standing still and easy to hit a CnD off.
Missing a CnD can be a deal breaker.
As guardian, engi, or anything really, the biggest thing to do against thief is not let him stealth. Avoid his CnD…
I agree whole-heartedly
Agreed. I think having pets at the end of especially difficult jumping puzzles could be fantastic.
As long as the rare pets do absolutely nothing different from the non-rare ones, other than look cooler, then no one can say “but I suck at JPs! Not fair!”
Look at it this way the longer they are spending time dancing on your corpse the less they are actually accomplishing points wise
I think we are all thankful to have DH in our tier this week I hope the DH players find it as fun as we do – this tier has far more skirmish type fighting which i really like
I cannot speak for the whole of DH, but I am absolutely loving this week. I haven’t had this much fun in WvW in a while. Haha
Want to combat a thief? Look at what your skills do. Every class has something that can combat a thief. .
Which class gets the “See Stealth” skill?
You don’t need to see the stealth, but prevent the stealth. AOE, bouncing us out of our refuge. Those 3 seconds of having to stay in a small circle are literally the longest few seconds of a thief’s life
My first character was a thief, leveled him to 30, and then abandoned him. My main is a guardian, and my first alt is an engie. Every time I entered WvW, I absolutely dreaded fighting thieves. I couldn’t out damage them as an engie, and I couldn’t out speed them as a guardian. Every other class, I had some sort of strategy to, but the thieves, I just couldn’t get down.
And then I decided to get that 30 thief to 80. From then on, my perception of thieves changed. They are annoying as absolute hell, I will agree with that. But they are in absolutely NO WAY OP.
The reason they are annoying is obvious – They have an extreme amount of mobility. They can get to you and get away incredibly quickly. I have no experience with high spike thieves, and I can only speak for condition thieves, but yes, I will agree that our speed and stealth is an extreme annoyance. However, that IS our class. We’re thieves. Just the word “thief” means speed and stealth.
The reason people think they are “OP” is because they don’t know how to handle a thief. As a thief with full exotics, I absolutely fear going into zergs of 3 or more. Not because of the damage. The damage is an issue, but the main reason I get nervous in big groups is because one of those players will pull out a stun, cripple, or an ability to knock me out of my stealth.
Thieves are an incredibly fragile class. People want them nerfed, but what those people do not realize is that if you take away our spike damage, we are extremely crippled. Thieves need to get in and get out quickly, as even with high vitality, we cannot survive long fights. If our mobility is nerfed, however, our class is virtually useless. We run away because we have to. Most view it as an act of cowardice to stealth and run, but the fact is that if we run away, we don’t die and you don’t die. And EVERY player, regardless of class, is going to try to run once they get on low health. We’re just better at it. That is what our class is GOOD at, just like other classes have things they are good at. There is a reason why most dungeons don’t want thieves – We have troubles surviving.
Want to combat a thief? Look at what your skills do. Every class has something that can combat a thief. We’re a tough class to nail down a strategy for, but we are an extremely fragile class. Especially glass cannon thieves. Take away high dps thieves’ speed, and the class is useless.
tl;dr: Thieves are in no way OP. They are EXTREMELY annoying, I will agree. But if you learn how to actually combat them, they aren’t as extreme of an issue

Definitely a fantastic matchup so far. But agreed, the corpse dancing is pretty unnecessary.
Most of the time, as a giant purple-armored Charr thief, I just bow and keep going. Keep it up, DH.
I support this with every fiber of my being.
Basically, if I read it correctly, you want them to give you better ways of making money, and yet clearly said “I know, I’m supposed to buy bank access from item shop, but NO THANKS, I don’t pay for game can’t hook me in (sorry but it my choice)”. Meaning, you aren’t going to be giving them anything.
Stop trying to go for money. This isn’t that kind of game. But it is clear you aren’t in this game to have fun. So I honestly don’t know what to tell you, but your suggestion is pointless.
Also, why are you buying bank accesses? What are you wasting your money on? Because I have never needed a remote bank access.
Yeah. I understand why the NPCs die often – They aren’t players. Why should they stand as much of a chance as us?
But the game presented us with the fact of “Everyone can be a hero”. I don’t see why that can’t transfer over to the NPCs as well. We constantly battle veteran and champion mobs that take forever to kill. I don’t see why we can’t have one on our side helping once and a while.

Now, I start this rant off by stating that I do not have an answer for my problem, and this probably is only an issue in my own eyes. But here is my main concern:
Our characters are not presented as “saviors”. Our stories are not to be the “chosen ones”, because we aren’t. We are a rag-tag bunch of characters who fell into the roll of heroes by making our own destinies. We weren’t born to be great, but through our personal story lines, we become great, through hard work.
So, my main issue is this – Why do so many zones require players to be there to save the day? If we aren’t the chosen one, and take a back seat to a Treherne even, why are our presences as players THAT important?
This isn’t an issue in most zones. In fact, my ONLY issue is with Orr. It feels less like humans versus zombies, and more like “are conditions perfect? No? Okay then try again in three hours”. Yes, Orr is over run by the undead. That is obvious. But the NPCs are absolutely powerless in this battle, and there just isn’t enough player strength to make any amount of difference. Even with a group of 20, the Balth event is absolutely hit or miss. Can you honestly tell me that the NPCs would launch such an attack on a God without at least believing in their own strength?
I am not saying make events easier. I just want to have the NPCs have a fighting chance on their own. We aren’t saviors, as players. We had this same issue with Rurik in GW1 – Being second in command but doing all of the work. This is our story, yes, but I would rather take a back seat and watch the world fend for itself than have to be everywhere at once.
If I were to suggest anything, maybe give the NPCs a break for certain events. Like, if a group is going into a CLEARLY suicide mission, then okay. Let them die miserable deaths. But if the group is attacking the gates of Arah, and the player just spent the events prior getting the NPCs ready to attack, maybe give the NPCs a buff that simply gives them an even footing with the undead horde. The goal of these events was to change the world. If the player fails the pre-events where they help the NPC get ready, then sure. It makes perfect sense why the attack would fail. Because we failed, it changed the world for the worse. But if the NPC is completely ready, and fails anyways, it makes no logical sense. The players shouldn’t make THAT much of a difference.
At least make it a battle and not a hopeless battle in Orr. Everywhere else generally has enough of a player-base to not matter as much. But Orr is miserable in an empty server, especially when these areas are required to get karma armor.
Just my 2 cents.

Currently level 50, and I am not expecting to be even remotely “good” until 60, but I was wondering how I will fare in WvW.
I have a guardian who tends to be able to dominate, so I am curious what my role as an engie will be.
Attended/No Loot/Mail
The fact that ANet even decided to do this for its player-base makes me proud to play their game.
Yep, same issue. Now it is like my body is saying “jump now, you’ve jumped at this spot 100 times before, jump now”, but then nothing happens and I fall and rage quit.
So yes. This should definitely be a priority fix.
I didn’t get a reward, and even I am not freaking out.
People, seriously. It’s a game. A game that is 3 months old.
ANet is still trying to figure out the best way to do these things. Settle down.
Agreed. The game is currently 3 months old. That’s it. It’s still learning to walk.
I am content. I didn’t get to do the event, and that makes me sad, but you know what, ANet is doing just fine.
Communication needs to be buffed by a LOT by devs, and perhaps rewards for these events reworked, but this game is new and has intense potential.
I was away this weekend on a business trip, so I went into this weekend knowing that I wouldn’t get to take part in this event.
So you can imagine my surprise when I got on last night after a 4 hour bus ride to my guild saying “it’s still up!”. So I rush and enjoy it as a go, and when we finally get to the boss, and get him down, it DCs.
You know the sob story.
Here is my idea – KEEP having these events. They’re great. They’re unique to guild wars. But, if I can offer my humble opinion, have it be a huge battle that takes place in three days. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and took even longer to destroy.
There is some unstated fun in taking over a keep and holding it with your guild, and hold it until you win. Why can’t a huge event like this just take a while to complete?
For instance, why not, instead of having a giant event in one day, just prolong the event to have multiple phases on different days until finally ending it in a glorious victory on the last day. If you, for some reason, cannot play on the last day, have tokens that, after enough service has been done in the battle, say you get the final event drop. Have it go from planning phase where you gather materials, and have the final battle on the last day.
However, to keep people interested, have mini drops that continually drop throughout the battle. Like, everyone came for the halloween mask in GW1, but people stayed for the ToT bags. I know I sure did.
Just my say on the topic.
I didn’t even realize that was a “thing”. Pretty sure anyone who said that is just overreacting.
I think the big thing here is that this is an open forum for an MMO. Which means this is going to be the most disgusting of disgusting of chat rooms. People WILL act immature, simply to act immature. That same person who said “I don’t want Wintersday” will be the first one to complain that it isn’t there.
That being said, I think ANet did just fine with the event. I think a bit of a heads up could have been in place since it was “scheduled maintenance”. No reason the schedule couldn’t have been told to the players, so I wouldn’t have rushed the quest after getting home from a long weekend just to get booted in the middle of the boss.
It was a good event. Just needs some communication, I think.
People sure aren’t happy with the game going down. I was one of the people who got DCed before their first chest (crazy work schedule), and I am not the happiest of campers, but that is life.
My only regret is not being able to get the jewelry, since it is rather fantastic… the exotics and rares would have been nice though…
All in all, it was a fun event. I just wish I could have gotten the reward for it.
People tend to be a bit… loud with their opinions that there isn’t an “end game”, and whether or not there is one or not, we are getting a major game update along with Halloween, not just Halloween. And GW2 has only been live for two months.
ANet knows how to treat its customers, and I am excited for the new jumping puzzles. Hopefully there will be a scary one. Because Halloween has always been fun in GW, but adding true terror would just be all-around fantastic.
Just my two cents.
