All of these changes look great to me. Flash ressing full dead in combat always seemed to me like a major issue in WvW. It’s important for people to remember that you can still res hard downs outside of combat under this proposed system, so you can still grab your full downs between fights and after fights. If this means an end to the rally war, than I totally approve. Also, my guild leader cried tears of joy at the catapult cost reduction. All in all, these seem like they’ll be a step in the right direction.
As for your first point, I personally believe that what Scarlet meant is that she forced the confrontation with Mordremoth. Her awakening of Mordie forced us to engage the far more dangerous threat first before other dragons that seem to move slowly and methodically. Mordremoth himself attacked more viciously and over a far greater area far faster than any other dragon. Scarlet, in many ways, gave Tyria the initiative by waking him on her terms.
For two, Ley Lines are an actual real world mythological construct, which is part of why I believe they are not well explained. Ley energy flows throughout the world evenly distributing magic throughout it. We know very little because by their very nature Ley Lines are a mysterious thing to Tyria proper. When / If we get more involved with the Asura I expect we would learn more.
As to three, the egg is important because it is the see of a further minor dragon that has been infused with the massive energy released by the destruction of Mordy.
As to four, remember that Mordremoth is by his very nature a massive plant. Consider, for a moment, that as a plant he is fed by ley energy. His size would in turn be rather massive. Also, remember, that we have only seen one other elder dragon, and there is nothing in reality to say that a being such as Jormag has any kind of realized dragon like physical form. Yes, we have one of his teeth, but he is often described as a living blizzard and avalanche. We describe them as dragons because of our limited understanding of creatures that by their very being act as forces of nature.
This is getting beyond tiring and into maddening. Every time I get on a well organized map, I get DC’d either far in or right before the end of the meta chain. Its getting even worse in WvW. We can have two drivers DC in the middle of the raid, then I have to tag tertiary, and then I crash aswell. I know without a doubt that this issue is not in hardware but in Anet’s software.
System Specs:
Windows 8.1 64bit
i4790k at 4.4ghz
Dual MSI GTX 780ti 3gb video cards (not in SLI because GW2’s engine doesn’t support SLI)
16gbs of Corsair Vengeance Pro Ram – 2400mhz
So, I’ve been forced leveling my scribing to make blueprints for my guild, and I noticed that Flax Fibers are required in rather high amounts for most of the objective slot-able upgrades. How are we supposed to get these? I am in a rather sizable WvW guild, and getting enough for even one of these seems as though it would be an undertaking of monumental scale. I mean, come on. 200 for each bag, and we need 2 Linen Sacks for the composite materials of the upgrades.
D/D Cele Ele is OP, and thats coming from a main Ele.
Just accept the class has too much damage for its sustain. Saying otherwise is plain insanity.
Ventari + Facet of Light from Glint
Ok, Revenant is unbelieveably overpowered in all game modes. Any class that can, with its elite specialization, do two full heals in a row with little complexity to the class is a broken class. Playtesters constantly told Anet that the class was broken but they decided to ignore us.
All shall fear the power of the necro post…
Hello All,
Launching a game is an enormous undertaking and our teams need time to address any issues that come up. Therefore after launch we must move WvW reset to Saturday. We will keep resets on Saturday to address issues and once we are in the clear we will evaluate the best time for WvW reset both for us as a company as well as for our players.
Since it is clear that we cannot pick a time that will work for everyone, we will be maintaining our original plan of shifting reset by 24 hours, to Saturday evening. That time was based on data for when prime time occurs in each region.
Thank you,
John
Thank you, sir. While Friday night was always our big night, atleast keeping it in the late evening early night on Saturdays will allow us to maintain our reset night traditions and fun and still get our guilds together to go cause some havoc.
I very rarely come in here to post, but I felt a distinct need due to this topic. While I applaud the intent of moving WvW reset day and time, this entire idea is terrible for several reasons. Firstly, the new time coincides with when most people are out doing things with their families. Even I, a notable no-lifer, have chores and errands and the like that I have to do at 2pm EDT on a Saturday. As such, there is no conceivable way for me to be on then, and I know of quite a few people in the exact same boat. Secondly, the time ruins something that I have termed the “Reset Night Extravaganza”. Reset for WvW has always been a huge thing in my guild and for my entire server. We all get together, shoot the kitten, and get ready as a group for reset. It is one of the few times that the entire active portion of my guild is able to get on and play together in WvW. Moving it to a Saturday, and especially to a time that is still morning for many west coast players, would ruin that entire event. Thirdly, directly tied into this event feeling, many people that I know set their work schedules around having reset and the hours after off, and with the way many employers are trying to do schedules, it will be quite difficult for them to get the new day off, let alone that time. Anet, I implore you, PLEASE reconsider moving the reset day and time.
Two words: Plot Armor. We can’t lose.
I’m sorry, but obvious troll is obvious. You say that Revenant is far too confining. Ok, point well taken, but its an attempt to balance a mechanic that could otherwise be insanely overpowered and in many ways already is. You state that the content is designed for 3 or more people. I can understand your frustration, but lets all be honest here. A guild of less than 3 people isn’t a guild, its barely even a couple. Your argument that you should be able to get a guild hall and do all content solo or duo is ridiculous. What would you say to the large guilds or even the 10 man guilds out there that are expected to do more work as a whole for an amount of progression equal to just one or two people? At the end of the day, Guild Wars 2 is a social MMO by design. Theres a reason that everyone can get experience and loot from a single mob regardless of who tags it first. The game is designed around being around and working with other players even in a casual and unspoken way. It’s patently absurd to think that all of a sudden the developers would start pandering to solo players that just want to play solo alone with no other people around and no interaction with the greater world. The entire idea of the new maps is meta events and chains where you interact with other players to advance the overall story and progression of the maps. And finally, while I understand the whole “childish throwbacks” argument, I can’t say I agree with it. Many of the people that play MMOs these days are not children, they’re people in their late teens and older that would recognize things like the mushrooms and find nostalgia in them. They don’t cause any damage to the gameplay mechanic. In fact, in many ways they enhance it.
Ok, what in the hell is going on with the rewards for the mordrem invasion? I had 7 stacks of the buff you get for killing mordrem spawners, but I got 5 Blooms and a chest? And some people with 6 stacks got nothing. This is completely ridiculous. To get a potion at that reward rate, it would take 2460 minutes just to get one of the Selfless or Selfish potions. This is, quite simply, ridiculous.
This was on the South western tower on Borlis Pass BL. We had everything clear, no attackers, and then Yaks Bend waypointed into the tower.
I highly doubt that the elite specializations or the revenant will be available to play during the stress test. It is entirely focused on the new desert borderland map.

When activating the second stage of Facet of Chaos, the one that engages the launch and shows Glint roaring above the PC, I experience a mass FPS drop, from 60 to what seems to be the low 20s. This happens in pretty much any situation I would be playing rev, from in the Verdant Brink to SPvP matches to both small and large group WvW fighting. This is quite literally the only skill that I’ve ever experienced this on. I am running on a liquid cooled i7 4790k at 4.4ghz and two MSI GTX 780ti 3g Gaming video cards.
Lag Wars 2 today. On Verizon in MD and, while I normally have 50-60 fps, I have been between 80 and 4000 ping today. I have literally never had this problem before even though I have been playing since launch. Does anyone know a short term fix until they figure out the issue so that I can play?
Been having the same issue. The map is essentially unplayable for me. I don’t have lag anywhere else in the game, but in DB’s borderland I get constant rubberbanding and DCs.
There should be a timer in WvW that automatically respawns you at your spawn if you stay dead for too long. Few people are going to sit and wait for 5+ minutes for a res, so it wouldn’t cause too many issues with that group. It would solve the problem of spying since you could only stay for a relatively short period of time. Last night in JQ borderland, JQ threw zerg after zerg into our defenses at Foghaven. When they failed, they started having their dead spot for a set of Trebs up on Cragtop. If they hadn’t had those spotters, it would have taken them a lot longer to destroy our siege and eventually over run our position.
It sounds like your just mad that Henge lost its main alliance and then fell from tier 1. Rankings aren’t the problem. I will concede that server transfers are a huge issue, but restricting or removing free transfers would solve your so called “ranking issue”. I doubt you would complain about rankings if your server was still in Tier 1.
At the moment, a small group of 5 people can hold off 50 with some defensive weapons, a counter trebuchet, and co-ordination. Defenses are too expensive, I agree with that, but the burden in a siege is on the defender. Assaulting keeps is already stacked against offense. Widening that gap would turn WvWvW into a standstill. There would be no momentum.
Wish I had thought of this.
Edewen, you can return fire from the rock at the Northern wall of Bay.
In WvWvW, kills are, in my opinion, merely a means to an end, that end being taking keeps and towers (and other locations). WvWvW is not designed to be fair. Higher level players with better gear are superior to lower levels or equal levels who lack that gear. A small 10% damage boost is not that much compared to the stats gained from having top tier gear. If I do 400 damage per shot with my shortbow, how much damage do I gain with this 10% buff? 40. 40 damage is nothing to shout and cry about. I could boost my damage to that with a gear swap.
In addition to this, boosts are very common and easy to get. I have at least 20 boosts sitting in my bank right now, and I haven’t spent any money, real or in-game, on them. Your entire premise that boosts make WvWvW unfair, specifically in regards to the idea that they drastically increase damage and are extremely difficult to get without spending money, is a facile argument.
In closing, I want to remind you that there is an option if you want a completely level playing field in terms of PvP. We call it sPvP, and it was designed from the start to be a match type that is completely equal, and it about skill rather than gear or how much money one has. If the idea of skill boosts working in WvWvW is such an issue for you, I would recommend trying out sPvP. It might be the perfect thing for you.
I honestly don’t know, then. Thieves normally tear me apart, so I hadn’t really noticed. Someone could have just figured out a good Thief DPS build, and its just now getting adopted. Beyond that, I have no idea.
It actually is, since the altar is really only supposed to be broken when the keep gets flipped. It’s kind of a bug, but what could they do to fix it?
It could be from people reaching level 80 and/or getting better gear. As the game gets older, I’ve been seeing a lot more 80s jumping into the fight with high end gear. It could also be a result of your gear being inferior (can’t say for certain since I don’t know your build or gear).
Almost forgot, Yak’s Bend shouldn’t accuse anyone of cheating after they set siege weapons up in their spawn protection zone to defend Cliffside.
I walked next to the guy carrying the orb on Yak’s Bend Borderland. I can’t speak for the other two, but we definitely did not hack the orb there.
